This was actually really helpful. I'm getting ready to receive a new laptop soon (the one I'm using right now is old and I've had it for 7 years. It won't charge to 100% anymore, it's really starting to slow down, and I can't play the games I want on it), and there was an extra account I needed to get rid of on my current laptop. Much needed! Thanks!
Thanks for the video but when I go into accounts the other user account is not showing up. I see on my screen exactly what you have on your screen but for some reason I cannot find the other account to delete it. Please help
Ok what do I do if the second user account does not show up under the family & other users window? My computer has a second user login on the main login that does not show up in the account screen. How do I get rid of it?
How to remove a user when the user isn’t shown in this area your talking about? I did exactly what you said but once there, the second user wasn’t present.
If you don't see the "Remove" button, you might be dealing with a Microsoft account or there may be restrictions based on your current account type. Here are a few alternative methods to delete a user: ### Using Control Panel 1. **Open Control Panel**: - Press `Win + R` to open the Run dialog. - Type `Control Panel` and press Enter. 2. **Navigate to User Accounts**: - In the Control Panel, click on **User Accounts**. - Click on **User Accounts** again if necessary. - Select **Manage another account**. 3. **Select and Delete the User Account**: - Choose the account you want to delete. - Click on **Delete the account**. - Choose whether to keep or delete the user's files. ### Using Computer Management 1. **Open Computer Management**: - Press `Win + X` and select **Computer Management**. - In the Computer Management window, expand **Local Users and Groups**. - Click on **Users**. 2. **Delete the User**: - Right-click on the user you want to delete. - Select **Delete**. ### Using Command Prompt 1. **Open Command Prompt as Administrator**: - Press `Win + X` and select **Command Prompt (Admin)** or **Windows PowerShell (Admin)**. 2. **Delete the User Account**: - Type the following command and press Enter: ```shell net user username /delete ``` - Replace `username` with the actual username of the account you want to delete. If you're still unable to delete the user, ensure that you are logged in with an administrator account and try again. If the account is a Microsoft account, consider unlinking it first before attempting to delete it.
