Remember how many people were confused here lmao. Edit Note* For those who were confused,Maul had survived his debilitating defeat at the hands of Obi Wan on Naboo(The Phantom Menace) when he was cut in half. Unbelievably he survived those injuries somehow keeping himself alive through the dark side of the force by using his anger & hatred. After falling down the shaft to a garbage level on Naboo & presumed dead he was dumped in with the rest and unknowingly taken to the world of Lotho Minor where his brother Savage Opress finds him some 11 years later. Totally insane & barley recognizable he had made a makeshift multi leg apparatus out of the scrap on the planet to walk. Savage brought him back to Dathomir where he was taken to the Nightsister altar. His Mother, Mother Talzin then healed his mind and transformed his walking apparatus into more practical prosthetics. He then began to plot his revenge against Obi Wan for the suffering he had caused him, killing Obi Wans secret love interest the Dutchess of Mandalore Satine Kryze while then taking control of Mandalore & one of its paramilitary groups Death Watch. All of that is clone wars(21-19BBY).This is between clone wars and Rebels (about 10 BBY or halfway between Revenge of the Sith & A New Hope) where he later shows up once more for his final arc. Here is the time between Clone Wars & The Galactic Civil War (Original Trilogy). He had lived as the Boss of the Crimson Dawn/Shadow collective crime syndicate after escaping Order 66 with Ahsoka Tano before leaving her behind on the Venator class Star destroyer that had left Mandalore with him in captivity after the Siege of the planet. If you look at his lower limbs here you can see they’re his newer cybernetic prosthetics.

@@GC_Mars there's rumors of a darth maul series coming to disney plus that will tell his story of crimson dawn before and after solo up to where we see him in rebels.
Probably was excluded for the sake of keeping spoilers away from those just listening to the soundtrack. It might be released later down the line in an 'Extended' or 'Unreleased' collection though.
Quirderph That was part of the 'Ultimate Edition' of the Soundtrack which was released around a year after Phantom Menace. However, the original does have 'Qui Gon's Noble End' which is less obvious but still there.
It was actually recorded with Peter Serafinowicz (original voice actor), until about a week from release was changed to Sam Witwer. Because the younger audience recognise him more.
Original voice actor would’ve been a lot better. That’s OG Darth Maul, and his voice isn’t as gruff as Witwer’s. That Maul rarely spoke, and if he did it was always in a whisper. A lot scarier and more intimidating.
1:13 The lighting and effects in this scene are on point. You can the light reflected in her eyes from the lightsaber, and the glow illuminates her face. What a shot!
I agree that this is fanservice done right. Not just having Ray Park back as the face actor and Sam Witwer, the voice that made Maul A CHARACTER (one barely holding onto any sanity and always on the verge of just going bahooties, while scheming to upstage Palpatine and kill Obi-Wan) and made it his own, but seeding elements of what he was doing between Clone Wars and Rebels, and even the tiny snippets of Duel of the Fates. But also, attention to proper lore. Force users, whom, as far as the galaxy knew, were mostly Jedi, were thought to have been extinct following the Clone Wars. Look at Qi'ra's face when Maul pulls his saber. She's crapping herself right there when it hits her what she's dealing with, what powers he has. It's no "hokey religion".
The double team of Ray Park and Sam Witwer just are Maul there’s no doubt that both are awesome dudes irl but when both perform and voice the character it just becomes legendary
@@slappygrandma264 Well seeing as how the Series were made to expand the universe and give more depth to characters who got shorted in the films (Maul for example), and the new films need new stories to keep going as they can't keep milking the Skywalkers for every movie, it stands to reason that the film directors look to the other forms of media that have started stories that need to be fleshed out some more for inspiration.
Seth Grecko Clone Wars was always canon. It was Lucas’s pet project. Together Clone Wars and Rebels turned Maul from a cookie cutter forgettable villain to a fantastic character with plenty of depth. shikamaru317 true but I don't see how that film could work with the timeline. They meant in rebels and it seemed like the first time they seen each other since the clone wars. I want to see that movie but tbh I dorm see how it will work with what they have made
+Thomas O'Connor It's my understanding that the plan was to have a Solo sequel release before the Obi-Wan movie, which would have had dual focus on Han and Qi'ra, with the Han storyline showing his early days as a smuggler working for Jabba (and possibly setting up the planned Boba movie), and the Qi'ra storyline showing her working with Maul and showing how he ended up at the Sith Temple in Rebels. Towards the end Solo and Qi'ra likely would have encountered each other with Han being forced to kill Qi'ra, wrapping up the Solo storyline. Then the Obi-Wan movie, according to leaks, would have showed Obi-Wan working to stop Sand People attacks on a village on Tatooine. My guess is at the end they would have given us a live-action retelling of the final battle between Maul and Obi-Wan from Rebels.
@@CollectionLearning. I'm aware. But by the time Ezra find him in Star Wars Rebels he is indeed stuck in a hole and very much lacking a criminal organization.

You know this scene is inspired from Lucas planned Star Wars sequel trilogy. The one Disney shot down. Maul wasn’t even suppose to die in Rebels hell that show is non canon when it comes to Lucas original vision. In his sequel trilogy Maul unites the criminal underworld and fractured remnants of the Empire against the New Republic.
