My favorite line is when a group of rebels surrond him and state that vader is surrounded by them and lord vader responds with: All i am surrounded bye is fear and dead men
Not a chance, Vader is pretty much the best sith duelist ever. Maul was only trained in Juyo (form 7) and Nimen form 6 (not mastered) Vader is a master all 7 forms, and uses an amalgamation of all of them blended into form 5. Maul fell for a quick bait in by old Obi Wan and was defeated in less than 5 seconds. He tried using the exact same technique he used to kill Qui Gon. Vader wouldn't fall for something like that. Maul would get slapped around by Vader like it was child's play.
@@highelf6086 no you didn't to use Juyo, starkiller used Juyo, so did the grand inquisitor and neither of them mastered all 7 forms. Starkiller used 3 forms.

Anakin Skywalker lived as a slave his entire life, first to Watto, then to the Jedi Order and finally to Emperor Palpatine as Darth Vader. I think deep down Anakin, including the fragment of Anakin left in Darth Vader, has only ever wanted to be free. The tremendous anger and hate that makes Darth Vader so powerful is his bitterness and resentment that he can never be free.
Vader saying "Myself" only further proved to me that Anakin's entire character arc is one of the most complex, well-written and fleshed out arcs in all of fiction. Absolutely legendary character. That one line encompasses that depth so incredibly well.
@@subarashiiashi3894 I don't understand this, his prequel characterisation is true to this fact. He kills those on Tatooine to avenge the death of his mother, but really he blames himself. I took it more as Vader insulting Maul, or bringing him down a peg. I mean they both lost to Obi-Wan, but Maul lost even though he had the high ground .

3:10 I like how Vader just lets the troopers talk. He seems pretty chill about it. He probably liked something about them, seeing as he ordered them two specifically to follow him. I'm surprised they were actually comfortable chatting while following Vader in the first place, they've probably gotten used to him.
I feel like there's still a little Anakin in him that always cared a little bit about his troopers. Anakin had a couple clones he considered friends, so maybe Vader feels that a tiny bit too.
Indeed. Vader had much more respect for the Stormtroopers than he did for the Imperial officers, as they (and he) were the ones more often fighting the battle on the ground rather than giving orders from a Star Destroyer. Moreover, when the two Stormtroopers plead with him to stop choking them and he says, "It's not my doing", one can't help but think, "That's better than what he did with two officers (cough cough Ozzel, Needa)."
Being Assigned to Vader, they were probably damn decent clones or troopers. And unlike the major goofy officers, these competent foot soldiers where probably pretty comfortable around Vader. Also since they're looking for The Death Star Plans, this is pre battle of endor meaning that most of the 501st are still alive (most of which died on the death star) so there are probably common imperials and clones who have been serving Vader over 15 years. I might sound crazy, but it almost seems Vader is infuriated/annoyed at the death of these troopers (some of them probably were clones)
I think it’s obvious Vader eventually greatly surpassed the power level he had on Mustafar. There’s a difference between losing much of his unprecedented natural potential and not continuing to grow after his injuries.
Not sure. Just before Mustafar he slaughtered the entire Jedi Temple which housed hundreds, if not thousands of Jedi. I don't think Vader ever achieved anything like that after Mustafar.
@@jodofe4879 simply because there weren't enough jedi to do that. Just because he hasn't done that since becoming vader doesn't mean he couldn't, he just never had the opportunity to do so. But it's accepted that vader is the absolute best jedi killer in galactic history.

Anakin is stronger than vader in raw power only, remember that vader has had almost 20 years of training in the dark side up until this point. If obiwan and anakin encountered each other without knowing anything about one another anakin would have won any day of the week.

Why do you think Vader questioned his master about it? And, of course, Sidious gave him a dismissal non-answer. His apprentice is much more effective with the pain of Padme's loss driving his rage.
I feel like he always regretted turning to the dark side the moment he learned padme died, but he knew there was nothing that could’ve been done at that point.
It's ironic, because eventually, five generations later, a skywalker-born would be the first to master the art of resurrection. I guess his only wish was passed forth through the skywalker blood.
That's something Rebels did do right. Maul KNEW that Vader was the apprentice Palps had always wanted. He had also seen and experienced what Anakin could do throughout TCW. Plus, at that point, even discounting the younglings, Vader had a MUCH larger force user bodycount that Maul ever did- Jedi and Sith both. A Maul past his prime had every reason to not want to face him.
@@gabenewell3955 Not to the same extent. Sidious had Maul trained as a Sith assassin, but trained Vader as a Sith Lord. There's a world of difference between those two titles
Maul and Vader are on the same level, according to George Lucas, Dave Filoni, and Sam Witwer, the two are very close. Maul admitting defeat doesn't equate to Vader stomping him or even outmatching him in any large capacity. In fact, he would've put up a better fight against Vader than Ahsoka did, and she gave Vader a run for his money. Vader was in his prime there, and Maul was past his, as well as out of practice. It's hardly a solid example for Vader > Maul.
Love this. I've always thought that Anakin most became Vader by hating himself, and after Padme died is when he truly fell fully to the dark side. He basically gave up on life and Vader is what emerged in Anakin's absence. But when Luke showed up, he hated himself less and found a reason to live again, and Anakin resurfaced. So Vader being stronger than Maul by hating himself makes perfect sense.
I dont think he'd laugh because he knows anakin is being used by the emperor as a weapon since maul was also used as a weapon by the emperor I think he'd relate
Didn't he know it? Seeing as he knows Palpatine wants Anakin for he's new apprentice, he could have easilly put a 2 and 2 together, right? He knew Palp's plans, he saw empire rise, and a new apprentice next to emperor. Just like Ahsoka knew who Vader was, Obi Wan probably too, Maul could just as well.
Yeah Maul spent 10 to fifteen years on malacore. Loosing much of his former strength, youth, and sanity. He was arguably weaker then his phantom menace counterpart. Hell we would most likely loose to Ashoka more often then not because of his stunt in his original power and skill. Which was in my opinion during the end of the clone wars.
@@comradekolbot2220 I actually approve of that, I think after maul came back during the clone wars he was weaker due to loosing sanity etc, but at the same time we never got to see Maul’s full strength except for when he took a venator out of hyperspace using the force...that was badass...
"Myself!" (Beneath his mask and scarred by horrible burns by the events on Mustafar, a single tear runs down his cheek. He remembers Padme vividly! Close enough to touch! So full of life-! He is suddenly broken out of his reverie by the searing pain of his own lightsaber impaling him and deactivates it, allowing Maul to drop. Wishing, that he too, would have fallen. He straightens as he senses the familiar presence of his master nearby...)
Vader was limited, but as such he specifically altered his fighting style to take on more nimble opponents. Vader was likely much stronger in the force, as Maul used his uncanny fighting ability to dominate fights rather than force abilities.
Well said. Experience-wise Maul is a novice. He encountered and defeated few Jedi (canonically) whereas Vader slew countless Jedi and clearly proved himself capable against most or all fighting styles, whether that upper hand came from his force proficiency or not.
No offense, but the chosen one, will beat 99% of any jedi due plot and story line. The tomes Vader has truly been beaten by a jedi, plot or story saved him because it had to.
@Jon Valler no mean Vader from the original trilogy, but he never lost his limbs. The training and experience. The suit was designed to never let his power grow higher than Sidius. No suit means he has no limits. I'd just like to see him wreck everyone.

A recurring theme with Maul's fights. He's a skirmisher / assassin, not a brawler. He does NOT do well against opponents that can last past the first few moments of a fight. Totally by design: Palps literally taught him to be like this because he was NOT considered an apprentice. Just a tool to use until he could get his hands on the apprentice he did want.
@@bragnir Except that's false and Maul was a true apprentice and destined to be by Sidious's side by the time of the Empire.
Moreover, when the two Stormtroopers plead with him to stop choking them and he says, "It's not my doing", one can't help but think, "That's better than what he did with two officers (cough cough Ozzel, Needa)."
probably his iron fist
its because the empire is pretty chill. they probably joined t or something

@Jon Valler no mean Vader from the original trilogy, but he never lost his limbs. The training and experience. The suit was designed to never let his power grow higher than Sidius. No suit means he has no limits. I'd just like to see him wreck everyone.
The first time i learned this, I was like “yup Vader is sooooo much more bad ass” he literally stabbed himself to kill Maul...Absolutely Magnificent
Thank God he was half robot :D Otherwise he would've died, too
Maul is by far the most powerful according to Legends.
@@groberti can't kill what's already dead
@@NinjaSushi2 He must have some very durable circuitry :D
My dad brought me this comic book when he returned from one of his deployments in 2005. Started my true descent into the extended universe and full out obsession with Star Wars.
Notice how the 2 most popular and epic sith both had significant connections to Obi Wan
Darth Sidious hadn't any connections to Obi Wan
They're the most popular because of the movies, I don't believe they're the most epic though
I will repeat forever that Obi Wan was the best Jedi ever. Not most powerful but most balanced Jedi IMO. Would have been a good master too if not the circumstances
@@TheKaktusPL1 haha no way palpatine Is as popular as Vader or maul
Bro literally every bad guy had connections to Obi-Wan. Dooku was his grandson/grandapprentice. Grievous just always fought him, and maul got mutilated by obi wan, Anakin too, and sidious was threatened by obi wan for training anakin
Can I just say the voice acting here is IMPECCABLE!
1st time watched your vids an must say really on point! The tones used effects an best of all the non slow monotone of most sci fi narrators. I actually watched listened on regular speed instead of 1.25x lol. I'm your newest subscriber!
"Or if they can go beyond the sequels..."
Meh... I'd rather forget those.
Wouldn't we all
Yeah, we all would.
Rey Palpatine did nothing wrong.
@@yaryar5828... Okay?
If the rumor is true and a new star wars show would replace the sequels then perhaps the galaxy will be saved
Insert “anakin skywalker is dead”
"What... could you possibly hate enough to destroy me?"
"Sand"
Sand: Why, hello there.
I have this issue. It's one of my favorites. As Vader vs. Maul, that might happen in the Bad Batch TV show. It was stated in Rebels that he could not defeat Vader alone. I had a feeling that they fought before...
I would love that ngl
Vader killed maul
I remember reading this comic. When Maul asks what do you hate more than me and Vader softly says "myself" before striking Maul down gave me chills
Maul: “what could you possibly hate so much to kill me?”
Vader: “myself”
damn, that actually kinda hurts.
Vader: You may not remember me, I was the kid running and then ducked.
Maul: That was you?....wow...what happened?
Vader: Mom died...Trained as a Jedi, my master tried to kill me, burned alive, my wife died, Palpatine lied to me and here we are...but I did win a pod race....
Maul: I can beat that....Was a child in a prison and picked by palpatine, trained me..Got cut in half by your former master, Fell in a pit, grew spider legs, went mad, got new legs, Palpatine thought I was dead, had a brother, took over Mandalore, but lost it, fought your former apprentice, lost and had we are...but I’m close in finding your former master.
Vader: Damn, that’s pretty good...We live shitty lives.
Maul: -we do, we really do.
Underrated comment
Vader: Hey, do you want, I dunno, kill Palpatine or something?
Maul: Hell yeah!
@@d4rksonic474
Maul: I’m taking all the credit when we kill em....I was his first.
Vader: That’s fine. I didn’t even like him...Hey. Did he teach you how bring people back to life?
Maul: Oh that? That was his sales pitch...”I’ll bring so and so back to life if you come work for me.”
Vader: I knew it!! That son of-I knew he was full of shit!!
I’m just surprised that a random stormtrooper has extensive knowledge of a dark side legend.
interesting that vader still values the life of his troops over everything (when they didnt disapoint him of course)
Maul really has to learn to kill his enemy before they get the upper hand.
I mean if you listen to what he said, he said Vader use the force faster than maul could cut him down.
The upper hand? Like... the high ground?
Plot armor...
Comics of Sidious raising Maul and teaching him the history of the Sith makes this clear and Maul knowing about the orchestrated war. Dooku was the tool and placehol only after Maul was thought dead.
Imagine seing a fight beetween Vader and Maul in live action or animated style ! It would be Incredible ! Amazing video Theory as always !
Love how vader was like "its not me bro chill" to his 2 dead troopers
Maul is one of the most popular characters as is, imagine how big he would be those original sequels treatments with him were made
"What could you have hated more to destroy me?"
"Myself..."
Holy shit I fall more and more in love with Vader's character... This is Star Wars... This is what I grew up with... This is Georges Legacy...
This is still, maybe, my favorite Star Wars: Tales story of all time. And a top tier Vader story as well. Vader's hatred for himself fueling his dark side power is just so tragic.
I really like that you narrate the comics instead of just talking about it. you do a really good job. subscribed
"You're more machine than man." Funny you say that Maul... you are just as much as a machine as he is 😐
Maybe not in this version, and even so he would still be only half. Vader is nearly 70% machine.
