I'm enjoying your videos. Thanks. 63 here and a prime target for the "knockout game". Earned my Black Belt in Taekwondo after 8 years of training (competition and instructing-of course) in 2002. So working on the skills I let go in the past 10 years. Your defense against a sucker punch is almost exactly how I practice every morning on the heavy bag before breakfast. Drop into a fore balance while tucking the chin into the shoulder and bringing a hand up to cover the ear and temple, aiming the forehead at the punch. Already torqued up for a hammer fist or inside knife hand strike, then combo follow ups, including elbow.
I can vouch first hand for the forehead. In the 80's I was jumped by 3 guys. Two grabbed an arm on each side while the 3rd guy (who I'd already ruined with a punch) began punching my face. With both arms restrained, I took 1-2 punches before starting to try to headbutt their punches. lol I really do believe they got the worst end of it.
Also, there are accounts going back decades of people being shot in the forehead and the bullet traveling just under the skin, around the skull.

I love wing chun, and i don't care if someone says oh kung fu sucks in street fight whereas Kung Fu is for street fight, and frankly i want to learn wing chun but there are no sections in Sochi, which is in Russia, and I'm not that rich to buy wooden dummy, to learn wing chun and i don't think that it's that possible to learn Wing chun without master, and your lessons are really helpful of course how could i know I've never fought with someone and used your advices because I've always avoided fights, because i considered that as a right act, but when i watch master tu tengo videos it makes me crazy confused guy, that would die if try to fight him without any skills, and his style is amazing it kind of motivates me, and I'd say more even, you can learn wing chun, taekwondo, and boxing, to get skills that can help you with every downsides i mean you're almost deathless with these martial arts of course if you're good prepared and have amazing reaction and fast punching, because these two things is important for martial arts, and the main thing that important in martial arts is to never learn martial arts if you want to use it for bad offences, remember jackie chan words, kung fu, it is how we live and what is our attitude by other people

Actually it's not sucker punch if you can see it. But yeah, what to do if it fails and you see it in time, then good advices. Main issue always is to keep certain distance if possible, if aggressive people close. And always count +1. If one attacks and you can handle it, always keep in mind, that there can be someone else attacking, at least 1 and maybe more. Outside gyms/dojos fair game isn't name of the game.

The way you deal with a sucker punch is by learning a combat sport that involves getting punched in the face... and actually sparring a few times.
Only experience will prepare you for the onslaught that is an actual fight.
Nobody "rises to the occasion" in a fight.... everyone sinks to the level of their training and experience. If your actual experience getting punched in the face is 0, expect to act like someone who's a fish out of water.
All this "if he does this, you do that" slow motion make believe will just get people hurt by thinking they can actually handle a situation like this.

"All this "if he does this, you do that" slow motion make believe will just get people hurt by thinking they can actually handle a situation like this." So what's the alternative? To not attempt to anticipate threats and counter them? Seems like any study or practice is better than none at all.

do you really think it's more efficient to redirect their forward energy down after blocking it up, instead of just blocking it out to their left/your right? I like your arm position with your right making contact on their left first with your left supporting it from behind/on top. however, it's easier to block it to their outside and come straight in with a straight left, then overhand right while shielding with the left, and then vice-versa. staying in front of your attacker is never a good idea, which makes the wing chun chain punching stuff very danergerous.

The 9mm story was true. As a medic I ran a “suicide” GSW to the head with a .357. Cops were there so I walked in without my bag figuring “this will be quick” (ie they are dead, write the report)…. Nope it had done the some thing!!! Sure if she fired at a 90 degree angle she would have been dead, but the angle she fired caused it to be deflected and came out behind the ear. I know of another call when I was working (but I wasn’t the medic) where it happened with a .22 LR too. So I 100% believe that story… if the guy was bending down charging or whatever, I can easily see the angle being shallow enough for that.

Don't let anyone you don't ever get close enough to do it. That's the only real way to prevent it. The type of person who would do it only has to catch you not paying attention for a second. You have to maintain guard at all times. So keep people you don't know out of the circle. In lieu of that a few thousand hours spent in a boxing or kickboxing gym will get you to the point where you dodge punches by reflex action.
It sounds like this "master" knows a lot about fighting in a gym or cage and not much at all about how the streets work. I've been binging his content and it's comincal. He's teaching idiots how to ge themselves messed up on the streets thinking they are some billy bad ass.
