This was so helpful, thank you! i had watched other videos that involved removing the drum and I didn't relish the idea but then when I opened the dryer and saw that the wiring up top was different, I panicked. Your careful guidance of which screws to remove and which to avoid was SO helpful. And I laughed out loud at the advice to hold the lint trap when removing the single screw. Advice well-given! My old heating element looked just like yours!
Thanks for your comment and I'm very glad my video was helpful to you! Good luck with your repairs and take care.
Hey man, 2 years after posting and this video is still helping people. Thanks for the thorough vid on replacing the heating element. Very helpful
Thank you Nick! You're most welcome. I'm happy to be of help to the UA-cam family. Take care.
Thank u so much for this video! I’d watched many others that left me confused but this one walked me right through the process with success!!
You're very welcome! Glad to help and congratulations on your repair.
This was the most helpful video I could find!! I couldn’t have done it without this. Thank you for putting this time in, saved us a pile of money and it was fun to learn!
Thank you so much! Happy to help and glad your repairs went well.
Just want to say that I just went through this repair with your tutorial, and everything went 100%, thank you so much for the video, and I love the "absolutely true" comments you throw in about how the pieces should be made better, but... how would they get us to buy these replacement parts if the machines were made better... ;) Amazing video! Thanks again!
You're very welcome. Glad I could help.
Thank you for making this video. Was a great guide to follow for the element replacement on my dryer. Saved paying someone to come to this repair.
You're very welcome. Glad I could help.
My tip: the back screw seems to be everyone’s Achilles heal. So what I did, as soon as I took the new element out of the box - I took the screw for the back hole and screwed it in and out several times. This basically “tapped” the hole and made for starting it when in position so much easier. Did it on the first try. Start to finish on entire job, 45 minutes. Hope this helps.
Excellent suggestion Troy! Thanks for your contribution to the DIY community. Take care.
If you shine a light through the front end of the heating element after you have it in place, it will illuminate that tiny screw hole in the back, like that old Lite Brite toy from the 70's. It's very easy then to see the tiny hole lighting up and makes it easy to line up.
I discovered this yesterday by accident while using your video for the repair using my phone flashlight.
Hello Jonathan. Thanks for the tip! Good luck on your repair.
Thank you for the instructions.
One important thing other viewers should pay attention to is when unplugging the connectors from the old heating element, be careful and patient. The prongs of the sensors could break, and it would take you a few days for the replacement part to arrive to complete your job. Good luck!
Good advice! Never abuse electronic components.
Thank you so much!
You made this so much easier to tackle!
Thanks again!
You're very welcome! Glad to help.
I have watched many videos today, (About 3 hours) by far this is the Best video I have viewed, it is a clear video picture, language is for a layman-(woman), easy to follow, I really feel confident now I can do this. If you are an Amateur repairman or just a "Do it Yourselfer" Great Job!
Thank you so much for these kind words. I'm so glad I could be helpful and I wish you great success with your repairs. Take care.
I just did mine and your vid was fantastic because I have the same model and element. The little pain in the ass screw is so much easier with the dryer tilted way back. I had my kid hold it. I used a 1/4 drive ratchet with a Phillips bit. Couldn't get it with the little screwdriver. Was too tight. Definitely mark those gray wires. The re-installation of that screw goes very easy with the dryer tilted and a horizontal line through the center of the tiny hole on the new element to have a visual landmark for alignment. Excellent vid. 😁👍
Thanks very much! Glad to help and thanks for the suggestion on that little screw!
Thank you for making this video. I was dreading having to pull out the drum etc. This way was perfect. Worked like a charm. Thank you again!
You are most welcome! Happy to help. Good luck with your repair. Merry Christmas!
The last time I replaced this, I removed the drum and it took a very long time. This time I followed your lead, but it took a long time to get that one screw out. Fortunately I replaced it with a hex head so next time should be much faster. I didn't have the same problems you did because I used a #10 screw instead of a 1/4.
This is an excellent video. While a bit slow going, very thorough. Very Thoughtful. Nothing left out, or to guess about. Thank you.
Thank you Miss Marilyn! I know, I can drone on sometimes. Believe me, I do edit my vids to keep that under control, but I don't want to leave out something that might help someone else. Thanks again and good luck with your repairs!
Great vid. Thanks. That screw in the back of the heater element was a square drive on my unit. Not sure who was the sadist designer, but you should check the head for drive type. I shoved my phone in there and took a pic.
Good video brother. I did mine about a 2 months ago...... When I did I tool the drum out too.
I did everything except plug in the black negative wire back up.
It fried that wire and my motherboard and the 220 breaker in my breaker box.
Now I am repairing the motherboard.
I knew it was unplugged. Seen it just forgot to plug it back up.
Be glad you did not do that lol
Now I am basically rebuilding the whole dryer top to bottom.
Ohhhhhhh man, that sucks! I have done similar things in the past on other projects. I usually acknowledge my shortcomings and just buy a new one! Good luck!
Very detailed video, with your video I plan to do my dryer today. Thanks!
Good luck Jason! Hope it works out for ya!
Great video, really helped me tackle this project. I do have a tip regarding those hard to reach screws. Particularly that back of the element one. I did take the advice of using one of the element screws from the old unit. I added one more idea, I screwed it into the new element before I started the install. I was also having trouble getting the screws for the sensor and thermostat into the the new element; so I pre-seated each of those four and that made a big difference. maybe this will help someone else tacking this project.
Excellent suggestions. Thanks for your comments.
Well done video - thanks for all the effort! Saved me a ton of time figuring out how to disassemble the dryer and get to the place I needed to be. Got the heater assembly out and found my coils and support plate looked a LOT like yours - bent at the end, AND some of the coils were indeed touching the inside of the tube. E63 earth ground was exactly right. ALso found that there was a break in one of the center coils, so the thing was doomed. Got a new one on order and it should be a breeze to put it in (except for those three screws holding the heater unit in place! XD) Thanks again!
P.S. Only only got $0.37 of change out of mine! LOL
Thanks very much! Glad to help and I hope your repairs and reassembly go smoothly. Good luck!
@@gizmoflyslow9854 Repairs went super smooth. Machine is back up and running properly. Thanks again!
Very thorough and helpful! Got you beat on spare change, $1.07.
LOL! That's awesome! Congrats!
our dryer has gone thru several of these heating elements. My wife ran across an article about the filter screen needing cleaned with soap and water because if you use fabric sofener it will coat the fine screen and restrict airflow and cause the heating element to run hotter causing early failure. if your filter screen has trouble passing water from kitchen faucet then use soap and water to clean until water will pass freely
Excellent advice! Many people don't even clear the filter between loads of laundry! Going the extra step to deep clean the filter can only help. Thanks for your comment.
Bro, thank you for this comment. I swapped my heating element tonight and I remembered seeing this comment and tried running water through my lint screen. Barely allowed any water through, it was spilling up and over the top edges. I cleaned with some warm water and dish soap, and after the water went right through. I'm sure that wasn't helping the dryer do its job efficiently.
Awesome tip! It may prevent my next heating element from burning out so fast.
Why didn't you show putting the element in
That's why I watching it
Thanks a lot for your help. Followed you vid step by step and it was all good. Thanks again for the detailed vid. 😇
You're most welcome! Happy to help!
Thank you so much! Saved me so much money!
You're very welcome! Glad to help! Congratulations on your successful repair! 👏 😊
Thank you! Very well done! 13/10
Thank you very much! I appreciate the compliment. Just trying to help and glad you found my video helpful. Take care.
This is exactly the video That I was looking for ! Very, very helpful !! (:(:
You're welcome! Glad I could help! Good luck with your repair.
Removing the front bulkhead and drum makes that job a lot easier.
To each his own eh?
I found the broken burnt wire pretty quickly inside the tube. They were jacked up.
Super Helpful...thank you!
You are most welcome! Good luck with your repairs!
Great video. Very helpful!
Thank you! Best of luck with your repairs!
Very good video. Thank you.
You're most welcome. Glad I could help. 😊
Great video!! It worked!!
Congrats! Glad to help!
As I was able to pull my machine out into a clear workspace, I just took off the back cover to access that difficult back screw...WAY EASIER and only a little more work (~12 screws), easier to clean the back and you don't need to touch the drum...at least on my very similar model. (procedure identical but front panel on ours has more buttons).
Thanks for the comment! Whatever works best for you and if your tip helps someone else - good on ya! I never, ever claim to have all the answers when I do one of these vids so other helpful comments are most welcome.
So that is where the black wire goes..interesting. The three individual heating coil each has its own wire but share one return wire which is the black wire. Time frame 15:28.
The black wire is not live when turning the dryer timer on or the door closed. It only comes on when the motor is operating, implying that it getts connected when the centrifugal switch kicks out at full motor running speed. If the motor is not turning the heating element is off. Clever? Clever is as clever does.
Just curious, was there no error code reset stage necessary for this particular model? You just exchanged the element, and ran great afterwards?
No, I didn't have to reset anything. The error code went away and it ran great. I have since replaced the blower fan because it also failed and with a new fan and new element it works even better!
@@gizmoflyslow9854 thank you, I spoke with a "certified" appliance repairman, and he said my issue may not be the element but the thermostats. My dryer still heats very good, just shuts system down after 15 minutes and displays error code. I cleaned the thermostats, the 2, I found, they were covered in lint. Still errors out, and hate to replace the elements when it still heats very well.
@@project-unifiedfreepeoples I agree. Your problem is different than what I experienced since mine wouldn't heat at all. Good luck with your repairs!
@@gizmoflyslow9854 again, thank you. Your video was very helpful to me in my experience. Most searches in my situation resulted in Electrolux dryers, lol. I appreciate your kindness and hope you find this new year, peaceful and prosper.
@@project-unifiedfreepeoples Thank you Jason. I understand the frustration of not being able to find a UA-cam video that covers what you have sitting in front of you at home! Which is why I try to produce these videos when I have the chance to help a fellow DIYer. I wish you a very Happy New Year as well.
I took mine apart without knowing how to put the wires back in how can i know the difference. In the front all of my wires are gray and the pink one one side in longer than the other I've already move those around and it still saying e71
very helpfull ty
You are most welcome! Good luck with your repairs.
I’m looking at a set just like this on marketplace~ do you know how old it is?
I would only be guessing. Ours were about 10 years old when we replaced them late last year. Unfortunately, they make SO many models and they all look very similar. Best bet would be to ask the seller to send you a picture of the model numbers and then do a Google search. Good luck!
Thanks everything work perfectly but after after 10 minutes stop heating and gave me a code 65 now.
According to one site: E65 = High limit thermostat trip count too high.
In other words, you probably have a restricted air flow problem. Your blower will shut down if your plugged up with lint.
I would suggest you check to make sure your vent opening and vent duct hose is not kinked behind the dryer.
Good luck!
My dryer is a 2011 and has the steam option. Everything seemed identical until I got to me getting to the heating element. Now I'm stuck.
Hello Joe! Very sorry you're having this issue and I sure wish I had a good answer for you. Unfortunately, my dryer didn't have that feature so I really have no advice to offer at this point. I'm just a DIY guy like you. Hopefully you figured it out on your own or found another source of info to get the job done. Best of luck on your repair and I hope it goes well for you.
@gizmoflyslow9854 your video got me far enough for me to figure out what to do next. I had to remove the whole burner assembly, including the gas line. It was simple enough. Thanks for your help. You're appreciated
@@joegarza5046 VERY glad you were able to work through it and complete your repair. Thanks for letting me know.
has any one ever checked out the one for 39.99 on amazon?
That screw was a pain!
Yes, so very much! Hope you were successful with your repairs! Thanks for your comment!
Great video but you should have cut it down to 15 minutes
Well, everyone has their opinion. I know I have a tendency to cram everything possible into the video and let the viewer fast forward to what they feel is important.
never again. what a piece of junk dryer. the heating element has gone out for the 3rd time in 3 years. No kids. Hardly any laundry. horrible product !!!!!!
You gots bad apple. I have wife and kid and we have run ours for 10 years and just now having heating element issue. May be the service tech or the heating element quality.
No clue what your talking about 😂
Don't know why "you're" leaving a comment. A lot more people found this video very helpful. But I'm sure "your" repair video is much better than mine. 🤣
4 mins and and already bored to shit
Too bad it took you that long. Move along.
Bla bla bla bla bla. This could have been a 3 minute video but this guy loves to talk
You have your opinion. Yes, I do talk a lot while making my videos. But at least I make them to try and help others who may have to repair their dryer. You don't like the sound of my voice? Then use your Mute button, hit the fast forward button or seek DIY help elsewhere. LOL! Have a nice day.
Thank you so much! Saved so much money!
You are most welcome! Good luck with your repairs!
