The Snow Queen (Frozen) Rapunzel (Tangled) The Bear and the Bow (Brave) Someone working at Disney: You know what would make these titles better? Adjectives!
I know I never saw it coming (You could tell something was off about King Candy, but you could never tell exactly what). I legit couldn't sleep that night because how they did it was done so creepily and shocking and at an already high tension moment.
I never saw it, and when it happens I was so surprised and also kinda happy because it didn't seem like there was a true villan until then, or at least when he was messing with codes and such
Oh come on....they couldn't have made Hanz being the bad guy more obvious, unless they were jumping up and down with a picket sign. "the perfect new stranger comes into town, and Anna falls in love right away. On an adventure, you see Anna not fall in love with Kristoff right away, and let the witty banter pursue.". What part of that have you not seen 1 million times
Those were lots of cliches that I've seen several times. "Cliche" isn't to complain, just saying. And when first viewing, by the time we got to Olaf's song, I was a little tired of the music and for reasons I don't know, bored with the direction. (Not trying to insult Frozen fans. There was still stuff I did like in that movie). So having a weird twist wasn't expected, I was just like "They're throwing that in? Okay." Anything off or weird wasn't a surprise by this point, I guess.😊
I was watching Toy Story 3 with one of my best friends in the theaters. at the "the incinerator" scene, we both start crying and holding hands until it was over! greate memories :"3
Man, I saw it in theaters too and that incinerator scene had me hooked! It looked super amazing on the big screen and I knew that it was the last Toy Story movie so I had an actual thought wondering, "Is this going to be the end of them?" Which was saying a lot because when did Disney ever kill off their main characters, but still, I couldn't help, but wonder! Then the claw came in and I was felt super relieved! :)
I agree with these but how is King Candy is actually Turbo from Wreck-it Ralph not on here? We all knew King Candy was the villain, but the fact that he was Turbo actually really shocked me. I never gave any mind to the flash back as I thought it was just a way to show exactly what'll happen if they don't find Ralph. Also I can agree with that Toy Story 3 moment. I started to lose hope that they would make it.
I wondered the same thing. I remember when I first saw Wreck-It-Ralph, that scene is full of enough tension as it is, but when I saw King Candy begin to glitch I just remember thinking 'what?'. Then the reveal happened and my jaw couldn't have hit the floor any quicker. It completely took me off guard, and to this day it is one of the reasons it is my favourite Disney films. The plot is great, but the masterful way that this twist was done still blows my mind.
To this current day, I think the one Disney animated moment I found the most jaw dropping was when Assistant Mayor Bellwether revealed herself as the villain in Zootopia. Seriously, throughout the whole movie, we don't see her convey a hint of evil. She just comes across as the nice, helpful character who supports Judy all the way. So, I was absolutely shocked when Bellwether revealed her true colors later on. It was an even bigger shocker to me than it was with Hans in Frozen.
+Florica Anderson True, I got spoiled on the movie that she was the villain but if I didn't get spoiled then I probably wouldn't have seen it coming.. My cousin knew it from the start though, said she was a little TOO nice And my mom who is an expert at revealing twists got it too
***** I was more surprised about the Hans being the villain , then king candy being turbo :p But I knew there was something with Hans, I just tough their love wasn't meant to be and Anna would be living happely ever after with Christophe :p I was just choqued at the way how he turned out to be the villain :p I think if you watch the movie for the first time, you know there's something wrong with Hans, but not that he's the bad guy I think (sorry for the bad englisch)
"Love is an Open Door" is what tipped me off completely to the twist in Frozen. It was TOO happy and TOO perfect and I just thought, "He's totally gonna do something wrong." I couldn't watch the rest of the movie without anticipating the inevitable, and I admit, the narrative did try to throw me off, but I still couldn't shake it. And then it happened, and I was probably the only "yep," in the sea of gasps around me in the theater.
hans never even mentioned love... he never said anything about love in that song. He talked about his 12 elder brothers, and how he wanted to rule. Frozens twist wasn't really a twist for me.
To be honest, I really like Brave. Maybe the reason why is because I never saw any trailers for it, so I never got into the hype or set up my expectations- But besides that, it's a pretty great daughter-mother movie. With the right audience this movie can honestly connect people.
Galactirabbit that's exactly my reaction. I didn't really know anything about it, though I thought Merida was the one who was going to turn into a bear. But I watched the movie with my mom, and it was a great experience.
All I remember is how Brave and Princess and the Frog were my fave movies. I never watched the Brave trailers and I still adore the movie, and I also love princess and the frog.
Cerise4697 Awww, man. I've found my people! c: Nobody that I know in real life likes this movie as much as I do...they only watch it with me because they know it's my favorite.
Honestly Brave is some much more, she change her fate, Disney made a strong female who didnt want a man, and it showed that the mom finally understoud her daughter. Alot of Diseny doesnt show mothers and if they did they are step moms and so this was a real love movie between mother and daughter, unlike frozen that showed sister and sister love. But its more then love its a bad ass chick wanting the change the fact that she has to be slowed down by a man. a Princess can rule with out a man at her side and no other Disney movie shows that, in that of an intensly way. If you had a chance to change your fate would you.
Nathan Schubert The early trailers were meant for entirely different type of movie, before they rewrote it. It was supposed to be called The Bear and the Bow, but was found too dark or something so they had to change it. The original writer was mad.
something that doesn't make sense in the way Ray dies is that he is a fly and he was crushed by a boot. he would not have had a body anymore. he would have gone splat you know. but i guess leaving him as a yellow stain on the sidewalk would have been a bit too dark...
+Line Poulsen Petty nit-picking on my part, but fireflies are a touch more robust than most flying insects, so he would've been relatively intact. Although, even with that in mind, all of his glowing juices would've been splattered out of his body...and he wouldn't have been flickering like that, just gradually fading out like a glow stick.
Many will disagree with me here, but to me Hans is still the best Disney villain ever. Why? Well for one it was unpredictable after seeing how well he cared for the people of Elsa's kingdom, his determination to save Anna, and his overall nice tone, but it's all just a ruse to hide what he really is. Finally he's realistic. Believe it or not this kind of thing happens to a lot of women, a man lures them into a state of acceptance and love and then just completely takes advantage of them.
He's definitely one of the most realistic villains! Frollo could give hans a run for his money though, a tyrant who uses peoples own beliefs against them as well as forces his own beliefs among others, one who sees error in all but himself, who gets control by taking it. He's got the traits of a rapist, he's all about power, he didn't even want Esmerelda for love, but he liked the idea of having control over her.
Ally Gator Animator Mother Gothel is actually one of my favorite villians! She was the most effective villain for me to because i couldn't help but want her to be good. She seemed so motherly and kind until the end and that shocked me so much!
Y'all know that Evangeline is the star Geppetto wished upon, AKA the Blue Fairy. And once they are finally together in that big black sea of a sky, they make Neverland.
Even if it wasn't much of a jaw-dropper for me, Ray's Death was a major tearjerker, not because of the actual death, but when the new star appeared in the sky (If that was actually it; I haven't seen the movie in a while). I usually cry more out of happiness than out of sadness, anyway. Maybe you could to a Top 10 or tearjerking moments in Disney? Even if some of them were probably in this list, it could be nice to see.
Mulan was my favorite for a while until I watched Princess and the Frog. ^_^ Tiana's my favorite now, with Mulan a close second. I've only seen Brave once, but I remember liking Merida, so she'd probably rank higher if I saw the movie a few more times.
TheRainbowPlanet i can understand why. i think it would take away from the feeling of the movie and it wouldn't be as strong but i'd probably still like it
i have to point out that without that plot twist actually i don't think the movie would have been so successful..without Hans, who is the villain? Elsa? O.o seems to me that there could have been a lack of conflict and a really childish plot..
I really liked Hans too, but the movie does hint that he is the bad guy when he says how many older siblings he has. For me that was a giveaway, although I spent the rest of the movie hoping that he would decide to become one of the good guys in the end.
Mikoto Chan The bad guys could have been the villagers like in beauty and the beast. Then there could have been a whole rescue plot where the characters each learned their important lessons as they saved Elsa from being burned at the stake or something. Hans could have realized that tricking Anna wasn't worth being king and could have confessed. Then Anna would learn that she needs to take her relationships slower and they could finish the movie as friends. Christoff could have fit in there somewhere. Endless possibilities.
Mother Bear was probably the original title. : P A rip off of Disney's own animated movie. : P Seriously when I saw this movie, that's what popped into my head. Brave is basically Brother Bear all over again with some slight changes. :/
GaarasIchibi88 Yeah...Brave has got to be the biggest let-down in movie history for me. If we HAD gotten the film the trailer promised us, it could have been one of the greatest animated features of all time! The epic feel, the fiery protagonist, the gorgeous backdrop of the Scottish lowlands...but instead we got a stupid family sitcom. Merida was nothing more than a whiny brat, and the beautiful setting was wasted. I mean, the story could have taken place at any time period and in any location and it wouldn't have made a difference! Brave can be summed up in two words: WASTED POTENTIAL. It was the first film the writer/director had spearheaded, and hopefully, it'll be the last. She hasn't made anything since, thank god.
As two honorable mentions, I wanna add Flynn's death (Even though he's later revived. I mean, c'mon, HE GETS STABBED), and Jim Hawkins backstory in Treasure Planet, just the way that they show how his dad left his family. There's no words at all, just the imagery and an amazing music choice show it. On a side note, was I only one that liked Treasure Planet? ...Yes? Well that sucks.
I love Treasure planet it is probably in my opinion the most underated disney movie, It is one of those rare disney momments where abandonment is driving plot point of our characters and it doesn't turn out just to be because of love or just "It's better this way", It is a serious scene of neglect which never gets addressed that is ballsy for disney
Jonarrthan I totally agree! It would probably be in my top ten favorite Disney movies, really. And I really do agree about the abandonment being a plot point thing. *reaches out for fist bump*
Zero Wat Returns the first bump. (no Idea how to do bold). I think the only other example I can think of is the openning to Oliver and company but that is just natural for kittens
Bro, I've never seen Oliver & Company. Number 4 made my jaw drop. THAT NEVER HAPPENS, WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY DO THAT?! And I respectfully disagree, I love Brave, shes been my favorite Disney Princess since 2012. And the original title was going to be The Bear & The Bow, which sounds much better to me, personally. And number 1 made my jaw drop as well.
YAY Disney Month is back!!!!!!!! To be honest I had completely forgotten about it until just now seeing this video show up in my subscription feed and I gotta say, great list to start it off on. I definitely agree with many of the choices on this list. Also really glad to see that Hans' backstabbing Anna made it on here. I still remember when I first saw it in theaters the weekend it opened. When it got to that scene, I shit you not, the entire theater just gasped out loud(including me). That has got to go down in the Hall of Fame of Greatest Movie Plot Twists In History right up there with Empire Strikes Back, Planet Of The Apes (1968), and The Sixth Sense among others. Anyways loved this video and looking forward to more Disney themed countdowns this month.
LewToons It truly is one of those movies that in 15-20 years from now will be an immediate Disney classic if it hasn't already which I'm inclined to think it has.
The incinerator scene got me so upset, I was choking on my tears. It was so emotional and just amazing, different from most Disney deaths, or scenes that make you think that they actually die.
Yes, I spend my days off watching Disney and cartoons. I am a big fan of Spongebob. If you like Spongebob, we should meet up and watch one day. And as for young master, he shall get his evening tea WHEN I'M FUCKING READY TO GIVE IT TO HIM.
Another great list Lewtoons. Oh and for Number 8, those who say "That's not the devil!!" if we've learned anything from Nostalgia Critic, that is indeed the devil. When I first saw the beginning of the movie Up I was like, "What the F*** Pixar!?" But now I find myself jaw dropping over the idea of Spongebob getting another movie as well as Dumbo getting a live action movie. Yea, no joke. D=
There's gonna be a live action Dumbo?! Why?! SO many stupid movies coming in the future...I heard that they were going to make a movie about those little easter peep candies. Also power rangers, sonic the hedgehog, and even ratchet and clank are getting a movie. Seriously, not everything has to be a movie these days! And yeah, the live action spongebob will be really bad. Nickolodeon already screwed up TMNT and the fairly odd parents will horrible live action movies (Sad to say it, but I kind of liked the TMNT one). Nick really needs to get their act together.
That's not all. Alvin and the Chipmunks are getting there own CGI cartoon on Nickelodeon in 2015 or 2016 maybe. I can't wait to see what they do with it.
Joseph Ferri Then leave. If you did not get teary eyed or even feel sad then what kind of heart do you have? The "hard to impress" kind I'm guessing? Yeah... sure... whatever... Stop watching them anyways if you think they're bs.
Yaaas every time!!! The first 8 minutes and im already crying! When i first saw it I completely blocked out the rest of the movie bcuz i was crying so much! And then the end! And like every part, its totally my favorite movie.
Was I the only one who actually expected Hans to be the bad guy? Like as soon as soon as Anna was all like "Hans I leave Arendelle in your hands while I'm gone" I knew he was going to be the antagonist.
"I dislike my destiny, so I'm going to give my Mom a cake to force her to change my destiny. I have no idea if this will kill her, sap away her free will, possess her, or what, but my Mother's safety is not as important as me changing my destiny."
Oh my goodness it was so obvious!! Story time!: My sister and I were at a local Target about two months before Frozen was released and we were both worried about the film. Then we picked up a children's book for Frozen and just looking at the cover with the four main characters and I jokingly pointed at Hans saying "oh he's gonna be the bad guy!" Then we read the storybook and what d'ya know, I was right! Then we watched the movie when it came out, and I still thought it was obvious but I was surprised coming out of it really liking Hans. By the time he sang Love is an Open Door, I really wanted to be wrong! I thought he was great and really didn't want him to be "bad"!! But whatever he's still good in my eyes...and in some fanfiction. The Duke of Weselton was the real bad guy!! He should atone for his crimes for attempting to murder the Queen! The whole town wanted her dead to stop the winter!! But he was the one who got blamed why? Because he hurt pwoor Anna's fweelings! And what did the Duke get? Oh you're not our trading partner anymore bye! Wtf!! And Hans was a heck of a better ruler than they could ever be. And Anna and Elsa's parents were terrible! Like seriously... Oh now I've started ranting.
Littlekitty567 I am kind of confused by this statement as Frozen was based off of the ice queen which the villain is the actual ice queen. If I remember correctly the only Hans in that book is the auther. Also if memory serves the original script for frozen also had elsa has the villain until they composed "let it go" and then the sound was liked so much they redid the script to fit it in.
Me too!! When they were going to kiss I was like, "OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" And then, BOOM. HE LEAVES ANNA TO DIE!!?!?!!??!?!?!!??!?!!??!??!?!?!!? I was foaming at the mouth by then.
XD But honestly, in a way, Kristoff and Anna seem to fit better. It's kind of a cliche, you know, a lowly guy getting married to a princess. Same thing with Tangled. A thief later gets married with a lost princess.
grillingdrugs It really was! I mean, you knew he was up to no good, but it wasn't really clear why. And then the big reveal and everything just clicks together!
You are correct in your theory that "Brave" was originally called something else and was changed to more appeal to the male demographic. Early in production, the film was referred to as "The Bear and the Bow" before it was changed to make the title more vague. Much like "Tangled".
I once heard that, some guys bought the Toy Story 3 movie and edited it, so when the toys all hold hands at the incinerator, the movie fades to black! And then they showed to someone ( their parents, I think )! XD SO FUNNY
I love the Princess and the Frog and Brave. They are some of the most underrated Disney films besides The Emperor's New Grove, Lilo and Stitch, The Great Mouse Detective, and The Rescuers Down Under.
My jaw dropping Disney moment would have to be The Destroyed Village scene from Mulan, i didn't really realize that much of it but then when I watched it when I was older I just was like😳, with the atmosphere, the color scheme, and the Score done by the Legendary Jerry Goldsmith it makes it even more Dark, plus there are even DEAD BODIES of the Imperial Army and horses, FREAKING HORSES, and the real reason this is Jaw dropping and dark is because it shows something that Disney hasn't touched upon in years, The reality of War, and that's was my Jaw Dropping Disney Moment P.S. I think that that scene might have been Darker than Mufas's Death P.P.S. Don't judge me and don't call me a Monster, I'm not Heartless unlike Donald Trump, everyone has Different Opinions and this is mine
+TanaVlogs The first time I saw Frozen in theaters, a lady gasped really loudly at that line. I can't remember seeing many movies where someone audibly gasped at a plot twist.
Gosh, I've been watching a few of your Disney countdown videos here, and now I really feel like putting in all my Disney DVDs and VHSs (yup) and having a great old Disney marathon.
I watched "Frozen" on opening night and during the Hans reveal there was this collective gasp throughout the theatre. I on the other hand was mildly suspicious of him because...reasons.
Since it's Disney month again, will you make a Top 10 Disney Sequel List or a Top 10 Disney Prince List (based on how interesting they are and what they actually do).
The Facebook page voted on which list they wanted to see most - - and they voted on "Top 10 Disney Princes" so look forward to that towards the end of the month :)
When I went to watch Frozen and that scene came up with Hans I swear I heard like 2 guys go "NO YOU DIDN'T!" and "WHAT A BASTARD!" then one little voice said "Daddy!"
I saw the twist in frozen coming a mile away. There's no way Disney would make TWO guys who are both good. That's CRAZY. One's has to be good and one has to be bad. Because then the woman would have to choose and Disney isn't going down that road. This way the decision is made for her.
I honesty just thought that Hans would end up with Elsa, so that the love-triangle would be settled that way. Like for instance the scene where Elsa is about to kill some mofo and Hans wisely is all like "no bitch, dont act like a monster and shit cause that would totally suck!" I thought the movie was setting up for them to become a pair.
As brave is one of my favourite Disney movies I feel the need to clear these things up. The fact is that brave was a very fitting name for the movie itself as it shows how she had to understand her destiny and given line of life , and stand but her mother at the time and save her mother when she turns into a bear that was caused by meridians selfishness
Sad to say I really can't agree with number 4. I thought the plot twist was handled really poorly. For it to really work, there needed to be some kind of hint, however subtle, that Hans had sinister motives. But there were NONE. Hans was a thorough good guy for the first half of the film. In fact, he was such a good guy that many of his actions make LESS sense after the twist. For instance, Elsa would've been killed by the Duke's henchmen if it weren't for Hans. He could've let her die. He should've let her die. His whole goal was to bump off both Anna and Elsa and take over Arendelle. If he'd let the Duke's henchmen finish her, she'd be out of the way and the Duke would take the fall instead of him. And yet he helps save her life, for no reason! The King Candy plot twist in "Wreck-It Ralph" was MUCH more well done. :(
The reason he doesn't let the Duke's henchmen kill Elsa is because he didn't know where Anna was or if she was even alive. If Anna was dead and Elsa was killed by the henchmen, he wouldn't be able to take over because he wasn't an heir yet.
FanOfAnimation How does leaving Elsa alive help get him to the throne? She's the one on the throne! She's the number one thing he needs to remove. If Elsa dies, then the throne goes to Anna. And he's engaged to Anna. So there you go. He literally could not have asked for a better set-up than the one fate handed him, and he threw it away. Besides, if his reason for keeping Elsa alive was because he wasn't a proper heir yet, then why did he try to kill Anna before they were married? He's in no better position to inherit the throne after he saves Elsa's life then he was before. Why didn't he, at the least, wait until he married into the family before betraying them? This character just makes no sense to me.
Raving Rando I don't know. I figured that since he didn't know the whereabouts of Anna, he wanted to keep Elsa alive as a backup. And when he left Anna for dead, he could have tricked them into believing they had gotten married.
If you watch that scene again, more closely, you'll notice that he actually peers up for a second before re-aiming the henchman' bow. He purposely AIMS it towards the chandelier in the hopes that it will look like he tried to save her, but out of sheer "bad luck" the chandelier falls on her and kills her instead. However, that spur of the moment plan didn't succeed, so he needed to lock her up alive instead.
Silver Samurai26 I'm sorry, but it still doesn't make sense. Hans and the soldiers barge into Elsa's chamber to see her apparently murdering two guards. All Hans had to do was act stunned by what he was seeing, for just one second; then Elsa would've succeeded in killing Wesselton's assassins and she would've been exposed as a killer in front of everyone. Both Hans and Wesselton could have exploited that angle to no end. Second, Hans could've acted like he didn't notice the assassin was aiming for her; Elsa didn't notice, so it would have been believable. While he may have had reason to act like a hero in front of the soldiers, there was *no reason* for him to actively save Elsa from the assassin... other than to convince the audience that he was still a good guy, and I'm sorry, but that's really bad writing. In any case, it would have been much harder for Elsa to dodge a speeding arrow she wasn't prepared for, than a falling chandelier that she noticed. And even if I was to buy that excuse, think about it. In the span of half a second, Hans manages to grab the guard's arm, and (without looking down the sight, mind you) aim it perfectly at an inch-wide chain, 50 feet above him. That is nonsense. Not even Legolas could have pulled that off.
Mufasa's death the most iconic death in Disney movies? I dunno, I know quite a few people still bawling their eyes out over Bambi's mother that may not agree with you.
Chad, I'm... gonna have to disagree on #9... especially compared to another moment from that same movie. You think Frollo sniffing Esmeralda's hair is shocking? How about the scene BEFORE that where we all see Quasimodo getting crowned the King of Fools in thunderous cheers, only to have tomatoes tossed in his face and have his body roped to a spinning table, while everyone is making fun of him? You mean to tell me that THIS moment wasn't jaw-dropping enough? Dude, poor Quasi goes from having fun, to being exposed, to being crowned and then to being humiliated in public. Phoebus tries to help but in vain; Frollo, despite his hatred for gypsies, lets them continue; only Esmeralda stood up to protect him. Like... ouch... just... ouch... I'm so sorry, but that moment shocked me a lot when I saw this in theaters, especially after a nice musical number.
Yea, that scene with Quasimodo TRAUMATIZED me!! Like even to this day, I either skip that scene or look away. But yea, I'm agreeing with JUDGMENT on this - the entire movie is jaw-dropping!! - Frollo about to kill baby Quasimodo, the humiliation of Quasimodo, Esmerelda basically pole-dancing (she is!!), Frollo LUSTING over Esmerelda on multiple occasions, the mass murders of innocent gypsies, the burning at one of the most famous cathedrals in the world, and Esmerelda and Phoebus getting together instead of with Quasimodo (which, honestly, was a big shocker to me)...yea this movie might as well have your mouth open the entire time!!
The toy story one sure had me crying and heart pounding and ok, this isn't disney-related one,but my most current jaw dropping scene has to be THAT one particular scene from How to train your dragon 2 ;_;
I can't stand that series, because they just used the books name, redesigned some of the characters and then created an entirely new plot with different characters. It just makes me sad because the book series is so good.
***** That's my main issue - it shouldn't have been called how to train your dragon. It should have been anything else, but naming it after the series then completely ignoring the books was pointless. I do enjoy it, but I can't like it because I know that the only reason I went to watch it was because they called it how to train your dragon and tricked me into watching something that was not that.
*SPOILER* When I watched that part I was crying. My Aunt was sitting next to me and kept complaining about it. She was saying things like, "No way! They can't kill off the father! Can they? Nooo! It's a kids' movie! What?? He's dead??? WHAT??" *SPOILER*
Great list! Hanz was sort of ruined for me, but I loved the plot twist with Goob in Meet the Robinsons. I so didn't expect that! And god damn Toy Story 3. Combine that incinerator scene with that ending and that movie ruined me like no other animated movie had in a LONG time.
Oops I should have finished the video before commenting because HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT RAY! Besides Toy Story 3, that scene was the first in a long while to make me cry at an animated movie.
I ended up going home from the theater and digging out my old favorite beanie baby and playing with her for twenty minutes after toy story three... and I was 22 at the time (I think... what year was the movie again?)
To be honest, one of the biggest jawdropping moments, with Frozen, for me was the climax of Let it go when Elsa single-handedly raises her ice palace. I remember seeing this movie in theaters for the first time and thinking the first half of the film just looked beautiful as any Disney or Pixar film would. But the combination of camera mastery, stunning visuals and gorgeous music in this one scene had me in actual tears by the song's end, still does. And that one scene inspired me to pursue a career in animation.
I mean, yeah in The Black Cauldron he comes back, but I feel like the thing people forget about is the fact that IT WAS A LITERAL SUICIDE. IN A DISNEY MOVIE.
AnneNicole It's a bit different I think, before he jumps he's talking about how he should be the one to do it because no one likes him. It's a really depressing scene. Anna sacrifices herself out of love, Gurgi sacrifices himself out of depression.
When I had already seen frozen before watching it with my Mum. and she was also rooting for Hans and was getting really annoyed how Anna and Christoph's characters were getting closer. She said things like "what's wrong with that other guy? Are they forgetting the fact she's already engaged to him?" etc. It was so funny keeping it a secret for the whole film waiting for her reaction.
The mother daughter relationship in Brave is the main reason I love it so much. Probably because my mother and I fought a lot when I was younger, but now we get along fine.
In the lion king 2 when Zira was hanging on the cliff, and Kiara tries to save Zira, but after when she says "I'll help you" Zira says "no never!!" In a very creep look, and just falls down into the raging river this just let my mouth drop, because I thought Zira was going to be saved, and changed her mind and would clean up her act, but Noooo she just commits sucide.
Up is one of my favorite movies because of that first bit, it really showed you how close they were in a matter of seconds. It really does make the trailer look better!
14:19 How about ''Mother Bear''?
-Because, the movie Brother Bear? K I'll stop-
Gotta say, Ray's death WAS shocking!!
When I was watching that boot scene I was like
O_O OH NO YOU DONT
O__O OH NO YOU CANT
O____O NO!
._. Ew
Must have been... crushing
They did in fact change the name of Brave. It was originally called The Bear and the Bow.
+Benny W i STILL call it that!
+Viktoriya Lebedinsky I agree
The Snow Queen (Frozen) Rapunzel (Tangled) The Bear and the Bow (Brave)

I was certainly shocked!

There was still stuff I did like in that movie). So having a weird twist wasn't expected, I was just like "They're throwing that in? Okay." Anything off or weird wasn't a surprise by this point, I guess.😊
Dont ya just love how he put up the spoiler alert while he was showing clips of disney characters dying?
SERIOUSLY CHAD ,TOO LATE
lml😂
Well, he mentions the movie first before revealing what it is
+Maria Bonilla
That's not hating, that's stating something

Still dissapointed Hans never got a villain song.. :c
Didn't he though ...didn't he?
LewToons sadly not in the way many want. Many wanted there to be a sinister reprise of Love is an Open Door with Hans
LadyJuse Ohh I would of loved it if there was an evil reprise of Love is an Open Door. Would fit in so well like Jafars reprise or Rapunzels mother.
LewToons no... He didn't
Julia Price A lot of people consider Love is an Open Door as his villain song.
The donkey transformation from Pinocchio.
Yup.
true damn true
I'm not going to lie, I like Frozen; I don't think it's overrated, just overexposed.
It would have been better if the trolls weren't it in.
Trainer Jei Also, I'm pretty sure the original title for Brave was 'The Bear And The Arrow'.
Tbh...that Toy Story scene is the reason why I NEVER toss toys in the trash
HA! DIDN'T CRY AT THAT SCENE.
So where do u put them when they break or are too young for u do you just stare at them and just remember that toy story scene
+_BlackFox_ Potatoes donates them
your rude
Barb Gurule Who?
I love how Ray became the second star to the right.
Ray was the main character of Star Wars ep. 7
+TeboaPlays forgot about Ray from The Princess And The Frog
+Epodmusic17 I actually didn't make that connection, that's awesome. :D
RAY IS NEVERLAND!!!!! YAY!!!! RAY WILL LIVE FOREVER AND NEVER GROW UP!!!!!! YESSSS!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁
I hope you guys remember when Andy played with the tours for the last time in Toys Story 3. That scene made me cry so hard.
*toys
It got me kinda emotional. I hate that I can never get myself to cry.
I LOVE SPONGEBOB BY KATIE when I was little it terrified me

hi
I agree with these but how is King Candy is actually Turbo from Wreck-it Ralph not on here? We all knew King Candy was the villain, but the fact that he was Turbo actually really shocked me. I never gave any mind to the flash back as I thought it was just a way to show exactly what'll happen if they don't find Ralph.
Also I can agree with that Toy Story 3 moment. I started to lose hope that they would make it.
Ikr that was pretty surprising.
+Florica Anderson
True, I got spoiled on the movie that she was the villain but if I didn't get spoiled then I probably wouldn't have seen it coming..
My cousin knew it from the start though, said she was a little TOO nice
And my mom who is an expert at revealing twists got it too
Florica Anderson eh I knew she was the bad guy half way through the movie. It wasn't very subtle to me.
+BilboBabins that was my mom with Hans when we went to see Frozen
Bruh i expected it from the beginning. It's become a trope since Wreck it Ralph honestly
Jason Marcoccio what?
what about king candy being turbo from wreck it ralph
Dude it was so obvious
It is?
Areej Fatima Not really. Plus, Hans being the villian was extremely predictable but no one thought about that.
Areej Fatima not really
***** I was more surprised about the Hans being the villain , then king candy being turbo :p
But I knew there was something with Hans, I just tough their love wasn't meant to be and Anna would be living happely ever after with Christophe :p I was just choqued at the way how he turned out to be the villain :p I think if you watch the movie for the first time, you know there's something wrong with Hans, but not that he's the bad guy I think (sorry for the bad englisch)
I started crying in the top two moments. Dammit Chad! Why do you make us relive these things? Tears are for the weak!
True.
Ray's death was pretty sad...
Ya
I know a lot about it. Surprised?
Vincent likes Disney 0u0
Fnaf... It's everywhere now ! :3
elfamosodelmundo lol
"Love is an Open Door" is what tipped me off completely to the twist in Frozen. It was TOO happy and TOO perfect and I just thought, "He's totally gonna do something wrong." I couldn't watch the rest of the movie without anticipating the inevitable, and I admit, the narrative did try to throw me off, but I still couldn't shake it. And then it happened, and I was probably the only "yep," in the sea of gasps around me in the theater.
That and they are constantly off key in the song
hans never even mentioned love... he never said anything about love in that song. He talked about his 12 elder brothers, and how he wanted to rule. Frozens twist wasn't really a twist for me.
Hans being the villain was extremely predictable. Good thing I'm not the only one who thinks this.
***** Same with me, I'm like, weird Ginger prince with sarcastic smile on face, and when Kristoff came in, I was like "yeah, he's the one."
Woohoo! Finally, someone else whose favorite Disney movie is Princess and the Frog!
Omg my favorite Disney movie is princess and the from also
Brooklyn Williams *high fives* Yesssss.
Me too!! My fave is PaTF too! Tiana's my fave princess :)
Yes, we agree it was a good movie, we just didn't expect what we got.
Nathan Schubert The early trailers were meant for entirely different type of movie, before they rewrote it. It was supposed to be called The Bear and the Bow, but was found too dark or something so they had to change it. The original writer was mad.
That movie sucked. First Disney Pixar film I regret watching. The trailer led me wrong
I love the mgm it had, being about to change your fate and all, you cant say you didnt like that
lucy i really need you to go out with nastu like really please and say hi to happy for me
8:30 Skulls in Gaston's eyes. Never noticed. That's creepy.
OMG YOU'RE RIGHT XD
Really!? Lemme c !
something that doesn't make sense in the way Ray dies is that he is a fly and he was crushed by a boot. he would not have had a body anymore. he would have gone splat you know. but i guess leaving him as a yellow stain on the sidewalk would have been a bit too dark...
He was only crushed enough to leave him immobile.
yes but he wouldn't have been after that kind of presure. he is a Dahm firefly who was crushed by a boot. just saying
Have you ever tried to crush an ant just to find it limping around looking squashed?
+KarlAndArma4ever WELL THEY COULDN'T ADD THAT IN THE MOVIE COULD THEY?!? sorry, that was just a really emotional scene for me...
Rhiannon Brenner*Frollo. Frodo was the from lord of the rings.
I agree too.🌹🍃
lexie jones Sorry, that was actually an autocorrect thing :P ill go back and correct it
Ally Gator Animator Mother Gothel is actually one of my favorite villians! She was the most effective villain for me to because i couldn't help but want her to be good. She seemed so motherly and kind until the end and that shocked me so much!
I don't think I'll ever forget Woody screaming " *YOU ARE A TOY!* " It is honestly in my top 10 movie moments.
Even since I was 2, I always thought the ending to Pocahontas is one of the saddest endings in cinema.
What happened?
She was so ugly, everyone died.
Cheese Sandwich no seriously, what happened?
EconomicSuicideTheGreat
If I remember correctly, the hunter guy gets shot and then shipped back to where he came from.
Cheese Sandwich i found that to be amusing when i read it and dont know why
"How about all of the Cinderella sequels?" No one has seen them all, lady!
I have 😅
+Keychain me too:p
Lol,i have xD
HOW, SUPER PEOPLE!???!?!?!!!!!?!??!?
I've seen the third one. As far as Disney sequels go, it could have been WAY worse.
i thought bing bong's death was VERY jay dropping.
Gabe Miller Yeah, It was.
Gabe Miller I didn't. I saw it coming
+Gabe Miller You said very JAY dropping it's ok I do stuff like that. Also your right, it was so sad poor bing bong. :(
This came out in 2014...
+Gabe Miller dude, top comment + spoiler..... I agree with you, btw.
King Candy being Turbo blew my mind SO HARD.
I will always remember the scene in Aladdin where Jasmine kisses Jafar
Y'all know that Evangeline is the star Geppetto wished upon, AKA the Blue Fairy. And once they are finally together in that big black sea of a sky, they make Neverland.
Once you see the shadow in Tarzan, you can't unsee it.
I actually didn't notice the shadow as a kid until I was much older. I think that would have traumatised me more.
What shadow? :P im confused...
+Spiritly AJ At 1:53, when the lightning strikes, you can see Clayton's shadow.
guinealover6674 !!! oh no i see it 0.o
+Spiritly AJ I warned you.
Merida is still my favorite Disney Princess. Along with Mulan and Pocahontas.
Mulan was my favorite for a while until I watched Princess and the Frog. ^_^ Tiana's my favorite now, with Mulan a close second. I've only seen Brave once, but I remember liking Merida, so she'd probably rank higher if I saw the movie a few more times.
"And not having him resurrected with tears or some BS like that."
I have a feeling that has something to do with pokemon the first movie
+Mimkage My mind went to Tangled, but Pokemon works too.
+Anna Terry I thought Tangled too
+Mimkage Yep. After saying that I was like " POKEMON! YASSSSS! "
YES I was thinking of Pokèmon
POKEMANS!
THE WHOLE KRISTOFF WITH ELSA THING!!! ME TOO!!!!!!
thats why i hate frozen
they should have put kristoff with elsa and hans with anna
why disney why
Yamikage Takara because they wanted to make it a movie about sisters rather then just a simple typical disney love story
Mermain123 then why the plot twisted
I would probably dislike the movie if Elsa had a boyfriend.
TheRainbowPlanet i can understand why. i think it would take away from the feeling of the movie and it wouldn't be as strong but i'd probably still like it
(ME TOO MAN, ME TOO) (In regards to the Frozen relationship twists. WE COULD HAVE HAD IT ALL HANS!)
WHY HANS!!
i have to point out that without that plot twist actually i don't think the movie would have been so successful..without Hans, who is the villain? Elsa? O.o
seems to me that there could have been a lack of conflict and a really childish plot..
Hans has to be my favorite Disney villain for the moments we know he is evil at the end. Despite me not liking the movie Frozen.........
My drink wasn't in a cup.... IT WAS IN A GLASS!!! *DUN DUN DUUUUUUN!!*
OH MY GOOOOOODDDD
Don't you mean, badglass? eh? eh?
A Person With a Name mine was in a sports bottle with a cat saying *Don't Stress Meowt* 😆
Yuki MINE WAS IN THE SEWERS!!!
Brave's original title: Scottish Bear Jamboree
lol..I think i should make another movie poster for this
LewToons Yeah "The Enchanted Scottish Mom-Bear Room" seemed a bit too convoluted lol
Mother Bear was probably the original title. : P A rip off of Disney's own animated movie. : P
Seriously when I saw this movie, that's what popped into my head.
She hasn't made anything since, thank god.
the original working title for Brave was actually The Bear and the Bow.
"Any character can go, even the most lovable ones" pretty much defines the Dangan Ronpa games
My dad said "weird, I thought Anna would marry Hans while Elsa would go with Kristoff!" when we first saw the movie. XD XD XD
Zero Wat No, I liked Treasure Planet!
Treasure planet is one of those movies where if it's on TV when I'm flicking through channels I'll watch it, but I've never actually wanted to buy it.
I think the only other example I can think of is the openning to Oliver and company but that is just natural for kittens
adult goob looks like waluigi lol
I'd say more like Doofensmirtz
He does!
A mixture of the two, I think. He's got Doofenschmirtz's frame, but that face is pretty reminiscent of Waluigi. Plus a bowler hat. cx
I know! can't believe I've just now been able to talk about Frozen!
SEBASTIAN?! WTF ARE YOU DOING HERE?! O.O YOU LIKE CARTOONS AND DISNEY?!I THOUGHT YOU WERE GETTING THE YOUNG MASTER'S TEA!
Yes, I spend my days off watching Disney and cartoons. I am a big fan of Spongebob. If you like Spongebob, we should meet up and watch one day. And as for young master, he shall get his evening tea WHEN I'M FUCKING READY TO GIVE IT TO HIM.
I agree! Just curious, is your profile pic Rin from Free..? :)
Brave's original title was the bear and the bow if that helps!
Another great list Lewtoons. Oh and for Number 8, those who say "That's not the devil!!" if we've learned anything from Nostalgia Critic, that is indeed the devil.
When I first saw the beginning of the movie Up I was like, "What the F*** Pixar!?"
But now I find myself jaw dropping over the idea of Spongebob getting another movie as well as Dumbo getting a live action movie. Yea, no joke. D=
You said the same thing I did with Up. Right after I stopped lip quivering from epic feels.
Well, I hope it isn't crap like most of their shows are now. I guess as long as they keep ninja turtles going, i'll be happy.
We are in a movie apocalypse 😫😫😫😫 keep safe from crapy movies
i am not making an entire list but here is my number one ........................................................ BAYMAX DESTROY !
Yes! That was a HUGE plot twist. That I liked :D!
My #1 is actually from Home on the Range when at the last minute they get the farm back and I was like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Yeah that was quite upsetting...he was so nice up until then! :(
That scene was really intense!!
I tottaly agree.
BAYMAX DESTROY!!!
He needed to be with Evangeline
who?
+only a comentary nothing special ray's girlfriend
Ah, the planet named after the Goddess of Love. Explains a lot, actually.
hi
Omg! I LOVE Meet The Robinsons! I thought I was the only one who liked it! I am so glad I am not crazy XD
maybe we both are!
Lol maybe XD
Count me into the crazy group because I love that movie! It inspires me!
No I loved that movie.
John Trollsten Then I guess were all a little mad!

***** said the guy with a jellyfish not drawn. At least I am a conforming Imbiscle unlike you. Now I am going to watch a marathon of Disney movies!
***** I'm ashamed of you not accepting someone who just wants to cherish their life and live it to the fullest.
Brave was originally "The Bear and the Bow".Also, the cheer at 15:45 is from "Remember the Titans".
I cried SO DANG MUCH during Up
And during Toy Story! AND during Princess and the Frog- So pretty much... I cried during most of these movies in this list :I
Joseph Ferri Then leave. If you did not get teary eyed or even feel sad then what kind of heart do you have? The "hard to impress" kind I'm guessing? Yeah... sure... whatever...
Stop watching them anyways if you think they're bs.
That makes two of us! Up makes me cry every single time!!
Me too
Yaaas every time!!!
Brave in a nutshell
Merida: I dislike my destiny
30 minutes of filler
Merida: Oh shit i turned my family into furrys
The End
oh shite so true
Offensive, but true.
"I dislike my destiny, so I'm going to give my Mom a cake to force her to change my destiny. I have no idea if this will kill her, sap away her free will, possess her, or what, but my Mother's safety is not as important as me changing my destiny."
lol XD a true lesson to be grateful for your life kids!
For crying out loud am I the only one who predicted Hans was the bad guy before even watching the movie!!!???
I didn't see it right away, but it was really obvious once Hans let Anna find Elsa alone after putting him in charge of Arendale.
Frozen was too predictable for me. I knew that hans was the bad one, that she was gonna go with kirsof
Oh my goodness it was so obvious!! Story time!:
My sister and I were at a local Target about two months before Frozen was released and we were both worried about the film.
+Jonarrthan
Oh sorry I meant the Disney storybook not the actual Snow Queen....
I SO agree with you on the Hans twist I was like O_____________O
My sister sobbed; No, I had high expectations for you! NOOO! Goddamnit. T_T
XD But honestly, in a way, Kristoff and Anna seem to fit better. It's kind of a cliche, you know, a lowly guy getting married to a princess. Same thing with Tangled. A thief later gets married with a lost princess.
TranceLyricaHoltz
Don't forget Aladdin
Yeah, Aladdin too XD
I'll tell ha what's jaw dropping. Finding out stans twin wrote the journals!!!!!
Hahaha this guy gets it gravity falls rocks
redhed645 so glad there are so many gravity falls fans in the comment :) :) :) :) :)
i know it is awesome
Idk why they changed the original name for Brave. The original name was "The Bear and the Bow" how bad ass is that
good video Lew. mmm my would be the wreck it ralph king candy twist.
Ooh that was a great one too!
SAME.
SilverScreenPegasus and I think it was so well done.
grillingdrugs
It really was! I mean, you knew he was up to no good, but it wasn't really clear why. And then the big reveal and everything just clicks together!
Also the part where Ralph smashed Venellope's cart actually made me cry.
Man, I shed a river of tears with Up's first minutes. It's gotta be one, If not THE MOST emotional moment in Disney's history.
You are correct in your theory that "Brave" was originally called something else and was changed to more appeal to the male demographic. Early in production, the film was referred to as "The Bear and the Bow" before it was changed to make the title more vague. Much like "Tangled".
Personally I think the title they went with was good.
As do I. Brave is certainly a good title, but "The Bear and the Bow", I think does better encapsulate what the film is actually about.
+The Brony Critic you are super smart!
Jelany Perez Thanks!
Anything is a better love story then twilight.
Ever modern warfare 3 XD!
Yes everything is a better love story then twilight, even my love for flame throwers
And my shipping for Oshawott X Meloetta.
My jaw dropping Disney moment would have to be The Destroyed Village scene from Mulan, i didn't really realize that much of it but then when I watched it when I was older I just was like😳, with the atmosphere, the color scheme, and the Score done by the Legendary Jerry Goldsmith it makes it even more Dark, plus there are even DEAD BODIES of the Imperial Army and horses, FREAKING HORSES, and the real reason this is Jaw dropping and dark is because it shows something that Disney hasn't touched upon in years, The reality of War, and that's was my Jaw Dropping Disney Moment
P.S. I think that that scene might have been Darker than Mufas's Death
P.P.S. Don't judge me and don't call me a Monster, I'm not Heartless unlike Donald Trump, everyone has Different Opinions and this is mine
ThunderDragon17 yeah theres a lot detail in that scene...
For the Hans one. I felt exactly the same. He was one of the most interesting and coolest dudes of Disney characters for years, until in the end.....
You forgot Old Man McGucket not being the author from gRavuty Falls.
*Gravity Falls

Just the floor? I lost mine to the outer core.
Not really a jawdropping moment though
I yelled "What?!" When in the theater.
For the Hans
+TanaVlogs thing
+TanaVlogs The first time I saw Frozen in theaters, a lady gasped really loudly at that line. I can't remember seeing many movies where someone audibly gasped at a plot twist.
+Banjo Peppers The first time I saw it someone said dang
Breathless Banana True though
LewToons Are you going to include unofficial Disney Princes? (Like for example Milo from Atlantis (He does become a prince in the end))
LewToons can you do a retooned on toy story?
Great idea
The last song!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!! He lives in you is one of my favorite songs from the lion king movies.
Like for instance the scene where Elsa is about to kill some mofo and Hans wisely is all like "no bitch, dont act like a monster and shit cause that would totally suck!" I thought the movie was setting up for them to become a pair.
rattis
I know this is old but the title of Brave actually was changed from a title that made sense.
What title was that?
"The Bear and the Bow"
oh my God, I love how you actually put Brave being a bad movie on the list. I COULD NOT AGREE MORE
Mufasa's death the most iconic death in Disney movies?
Frolo was planning on raping esmeralda
I think the entire movie is jaw dropping. if you went by movie instead of moment it would be number 1 on the list
Up has beautiful animation and music, plus a scene that makes me tear up every time. That's why it's my favorite Disney movie. Ever.
The Author's reveal in "Not What He Seems",from Gravity Falls.
The.Entire.Fucking.Thing.
no spoiler tags? living your life on the line, chad. XD
there's a message that this countdown is riddled with spoilers near the start!
sorry, must have missed it. Dont i look like a fool? I was probably looking away when it happened.
teenagedgaming to be fair I could have made it larger or more aparent - :O
Big fan by the way. :)
LewToons So any more Disney Month entries this year or was that it?
I’m watching these videos again and they are still so funny and entertaining!
The toy story one sure had me crying and heart pounding and ok, this isn't disney-related one,but my most current jaw dropping scene has to be THAT one particular scene from How to train your dragon 2 ;_;
Makes one wonder if that's the end if the story, or is it a step into the new life of Hicupp
AllyGal1231 same! I went with my mother and we were both crying and since that day my mom calls toothless murder dragon :(
Is anyone as excited as I am for Disney Month 2015?
LewToons
Lol I never heard of that i guess i have now :)
I mean, yeah in The Black Cauldron he comes back, but I feel like the thing people forget about is the fact that IT WAS A LITERAL SUICIDE. IN A DISNEY MOVIE.
More like he sacrificed himself just like Anna did for Elsa
AnneNicole It's a bit different I think, before he jumps he's talking about how he should be the one to do it because no one likes him. It's a really depressing scene. Anna sacrifices herself out of love, Gurgi sacrifices himself out of depression.
I know right?!
Fan theory: Meeko from Pocahontas became Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy. :I
Brave's original title was The Bow and The Bear
Seriously!!! That would've made a lot more sense had they just kept the title.
The mother daughter relationship in Brave is the main reason I love it so much. Probably because my mother and I fought a lot when I was younger, but now we get along fine.
'Resurrected with tears or some bs' *looks at pokemon the first movie*
My thoughts exactly.
I saw Black Cauldron years ago with a friend. He found the resurrection so disappointing, sort of the easy way out as opposed to the book.
Sadly, it was one of the best of the Pokémon movies, (granted I haven't seen ALL of them)
In the lion king 2 when Zira was hanging on the cliff, and Kiara tries to save Zira, but after when she says "I'll help you" Zira says "no never!!" In a very creep look, and just falls down into the raging river this just let my mouth drop, because I thought Zira was going to be saved, and changed her mind and would clean up her act, but Noooo she just commits sucide.
Up is one of my favorite movies because of that first bit, it really showed you how close they were in a matter of seconds. It really does make the trailer look better!
