Alive Competition Entry - One way to get rid of that mid inside your chassis is to feed a hose through the larger holes and move it back and forth to dislodge the mud. Doing this way takes long though, I've spent hours on my chassis and there's still mud inside, especially around the larger holes for the wiring loom.
What about using a jet wash drain snake hose attachment? That should pull itself along the inside of the chassis rails and spray in all directions inside.

Made a big difference the new set up comfort wise- a big change I’ve noticed is at speed it feels way more in control (well as in control as it’s going to get at 70mph in a TD5 on mud terrain tyres!)

The difference will be night and day with the new set up, it’s exactly what I’m planning to do with my Defender. Also going to go with the Fox 2.0’s and standard height springs. Also with the rear ARB it’s gonna make a huge difference to your handling.

@@thedoctorsgarage no it’s on the to do list, last month I just did a stage 2 remap, intercooler etc to my DCPU. And in summer I just added Gullwings and a few other bits like re powder coating the chequer plate on my 110. Never ending story 😂
They might be onto something. New Defender is great but not really interesting. I hope they can save as many Defenders as they can. Good to see there are people investing a lot on old discontinued trucks!
Looks great on standard ride height, if you don't use it for off roading, I wouldn't think there is any need for extra lift, unless you prefer that look👍 Alive competition entry😃

Standard looks so much better I have original OE springs and 4 yr old B6 Bilstein shocks that have about 60k miles on them. Really looking forward to seeing how your new set up feels for you.
That looks much better - it's really starting to come together. I'm not a fan of lifted defenders - though each to their own of course. (I would rather win one of those long ratchet spanners the mechanic was using.. they look great!)

Hi. Was really interested in this video and keen to see how you go. I swapped my old shocks, springs, bushes and roll bars last year. One thing I learned as I went from lifted to lowered was to replace the bump stops. Unless you do this every bump will hammer the axle against the chassis once your lowered. Next thing is to see what difference real world the shocks make. I am not sure if my Britpart ones are up to the job, even though they were new and the xd spec. we will see after I've fitted the new shorter bump stops. Good luck. keep making the good videos. Frank
@@thedoctorsgarage Did you ever fit the short stops. Mine have been done now - an easy diy job - and what a transformation. I used power flex 40mm. How is life with the fox shocks?
@@frankthomas6800 Ive had a look under mine and as it’s now standard height I don’t think my car gets to the bump stops? I love the new ride setup - I think the combo of everything really makes for a much better drive in a defender
Re: your old shocks vs the new shocks. I think it’s the difference between hydraulic shock vs gas shocks. Please don’t put a gas shock on your steering dampener! So whilst the old shocks might be knackered, they’re not completely stuffed!

Wow you now have a modicum of what constitutes functional suspension - do you need an anti-roll bar on a Defender as the body roll on a series 1 Range Rover and cornering on the door handles is part of the charm? 🤘😝
What tyre/ rim size were you running to get the 2.5” wheel arch gap? I have BFG 265/65r18 but standard suspension (as far as I know) and I have a 4+” gap all round. Look like it will fall over round a corner 😅

Thanks Will- I did look at the options a lot- cost was a factor but also a tried and tested method with springs made more sense. Being able to adjust the height wasn’t something I really needed in the end
Hi Jeff it was the alive comfort springs (standard height), fox shocks, alive anti-roll bar. If you contact alive tuning they have all the details of bushings etc that were used on the fit too 👌🏻
Did you get the front wheels realigned? Big mistake I made when I had my Land Cruiser lifted 2 inches was not getting it done. Felt like the wheels weren't balanced and scrubbed the edge off a brand new BFG KO2. Thats when i realised something wasn't right.

Thanks- yes have been considering it. Have looked in to options- Issue with the TD5 dash is how close it is to the gearstick- not sure if it will bang in to it all the time?
They are! Reason being is they work the same but allow you to clean out the front ones with the open turret- can get the jet washer in there to get rid of the mud 👌🏻

Little tip for cleaning out the chassis get a drain cleaner attachment for a pressure washer.

@@thedoctorsgarage that’s good. I think there needs to be a 40-50mm gap so around that is good. Any more and dislocation becomes a risk

I didn’t - it drive so good after having it done - maybe if it’s lifted it pulls the alignment out!
