Some people who have trouble with sulphur have reported doing better with sulbutiamine, a synthetic lipid-soluble thiamine disulfide derivative like Allithiamine.
I was never diagnosed with a B1 deficiency. I was having motility issues, had my gallbladder removed, bloating, fatigue, etc. I first tried Thiamine HCL. Felt nothing. My father-in-law died from a thiamine deficiency because he couldn't absorb it properly for some reason. The doctors only realized it while he was quite litterly on his death bed. By that point the damage was irreversible. Fortunatly, it wasn't yet too late for my husband. I started giving him supplements as soon as we found out. It's brought him back to his old self again. Been taking Benfotiamine for about a year and a half, for T2 diabetes, which is very well controlled. Have been in normal range a long while now. Just started some TTFD that was in my cupboard. Is it okay to use these together?
@@jakerog Benfotiamine is not for T2 diabetes, but for the Peripheral Neuropathy the diabetes started to cause. I use 3 capsules daily of 300 mg = 900 mg. Also just started using Red Vine Leaf, to help blood circulation in extremities. I do not use the TTFD that I have at 100 mg, because everytime I have tried it, I get the rash around outside edge of my lips, indicative of low Thiamine. I’m on the second day of 50 mg and it makes my depersonalization worse and doesn’t really help with my energy but I know it’s early days. Do you have any advice? Thank you
Did you take it with a chelated form of magnesium? If you're Mg-deficient, taking thiamine without enough magnesium will magnify symptoms. It's suggested if you have long-term deficiency that you take it with NAC, L-tyrosine, and Ubiquinol (a form of CoQ-10) to maximize uptake.
Had similar symptoms as yourself. Found out that the very high oxalate diets I was consuming were the culprit. Spinach beets, almonds and chard are the biggest offenders. Reference a book by Sally Norton, called "Toxic Superfoods".

Navigating Thiamine Supplements by Derrick Lonsdale MD, FACN, CNS - www.hormonesmatter.com/navigating-thiamine-supplements/ That link leads you to this bit of research in PubMed: Benfotiamine, a synthetic S-acyl thiamine derivative, has different mechanisms of action and a different pharmacological profile than lipid-soluble thiamine disulfide derivatives. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18549472/ "Our results show that, though benfotiamine strongly increases thiamine levels in blood and liver, it has no significant effect in the brain. This would explain why beneficial effects of benfotiamine have only been observed in peripheral tissues, while sulbutiamine, a lipid-soluble thiamine disulfide derivative, that increases thiamine derivatives in the brain as well as in cultured cells, acts as a central nervous system drug. We propose that benfotiamine only penetrates the cells after dephosphorylation by intestinal alkaline phosphatases. It then enters the bloodstream as S-benzoylthiamine that is converted to thiamine in erythrocytes and in the liver. Benfotiamine, an S-acyl derivative practically insoluble in organic solvents, should therefore be differentiated from truly lipid-soluble thiamine disulfide derivatives (allithiamine and the synthetic sulbutiamine and fursultiamine) with a different mechanism of absorption and different pharmacological properties."

I have been watching your videos on thiamine, and I'm very intrigued. I have dysautonomia which includes, POTS, low blood pressure, severe gastroparesis and body temperature regulation. In addition to that I also have chronic diarrhea, severe nausea, no appetite (anorexia), wasting, neuropathic pain in my feet, muscle aches and fatigue. I've been struggling most with my gastroparesis, lack of appetite and have been looking for solutions to remedy that so I can gain weight! I've begun eating a ketogenic diet that I would say is about 90% carnivore. Though I have less nausea, other things are not improving at all. Since my doctors have written me off as neurotic, or just some complainer, I don't feel like convincing them to help me with thiamine therapy. So, if I want to self-medicate with a thiamine supplement, can I use benfotiamine and if so, how much should I be taking? Do I have to use TTFD? The Objective Nutrients website is sold out!

I was so nutrient deficient that I was put on an IV full of tons of nutrients every 10 days for a year in half and about 3/4 the way thru I learned about the Lion Diet and saw even more improvements. I had just been on keto like you, and I was even having a hard time keeping any thing down. Except chicken slather in a fatty sauce I could eat it about every couple days and keep it down. Also Dr Ken Berry is who I followed to learn about the PHD and Elliot who is my hero! jGasstropareses is a bitch! But I can say after being Lion/Carnivore for about 2 yrs now, i'm actually starting to feel the gastropareses not being as active. So maybe it is healing also, which would be great cuz my doc said it was all down hill from there. Good luck hope you can get to the bottom of it, I know how sick your really are. Vitamin D is very important for your stomach if it under 65 to 85 i'd try upping it as well. I find my stomach does much better if I keep it between 75 and 85. If you don't get this fixed it gets a lot worse, I started to have symptom like seizures and lost the ability to stand or walk. I know can stand on my own and walk!

I have blood pressure issues, It kept going up when I had certain foods. I isolated MSG years ago, and what it's hidden in like natural flavors, artificial flavors, and high fructose corn syrup. I checked the labels, but still there was something triggering the rise, it was nitrates. What threw me a curve was Thiamine Mononitrate, It would raise my blood pressure 24 hours after ingesting it, and it would stay up a couple of days. It's in so many things, enriched flour, my vitamins. So if you have a problem with nitrates, you might want to check the labels for Thiamine Mononitrate. It really sucks not being able to eat the foods you love, or go out to eat with family or friends. I had to turn down pizza dinner the other night.
@@resheaparker2725 Yes I could if I had a gluten problem, but mine is the man-made vit B1 Thiamine Mononitrate added to enriched flour, and even added extra by bakeries. So I only have what I make from non-enriched flour. I can have small amounts of un-cured meats that use celery nitrate. I use ground pork to make my own sausage with no nitrates. I have a kidney transplant that requires immunosuppression. These drugs seem to have compounded long term gut issues, malabsorption (maybe SIBO). It seems I will always be working to resolve previous issues and relieve intense symptoms as corticosteroids do a number on the gut (is it even possible to resolve my issues?). I consume a Carnivore-Keto diet which has been very helpful in relieving many symptoms, however, I watched you discussing how high fat may also prevent good absorption of thiamine. I do feel slightly better when taking b vitamins, but want to try higher doses of thiamine. Still trying to discern which thiamine is safest for me and at what dose. Having a transplant is amazing, but it is frustrating hearing my doctors express that my chronic fatigue, brain fog/confusion, etc., is just something I need to accept and live with. They simply will not help me figure out how to thrive with a transplant which seems so wasteful and sad, so here I am, years later, trying to make myself better on my own. Okay my Sweet Elliot! This lady (The Nerve Doctors - Neuropathy Pain Treatment) says on youtube that for neuropathy we need to be taking the form of Benfotiamine because the body uses it for nerve before converting to usable B1. I take your supplement, and found that I have better energy but doesn't seem to be doing anything for my neuropathy, but maybe i'm to far damaged. Maybe I need to take a combination of both. Can you help explain if there is differences between these 2 forms of B1. One is water soluble and the other is fat soluble. According to the lady we need the fat soluble for neuropathy.
This quote is from an article written by Stuart Lindsey PharmD. He mentions what he took to help his neuropathy: "In 2005, a UK researcher named Paul Thornalley wrote a paper detailing how many diabetic symptoms are due to a deficiency of thiamine (B-1).[1] Elevated blood sugar promotes a type of toxicity in the kidneys that causes thiamine to be excreted by the kidney at a rate much higher (sixteen to twenty-five times higher) than normal, leading to an acute deficiency of thiamine. From other studies, it is known that deficiencies in all B vitamins, as well as vitamin C and D are common in diabetics.[2] This can cause most of the symptoms of type 2 diabetes, which include: polyneuropathy, nephropathy (kidney damage), retinopathy (eye damage) and eventually heart failure. This raises the question of whether the symptoms are from diabetes or acute beriberi? When I was diagnosed with type II diabetes, I immediately balked at taking the standard diabetic drugs. My doctor wanted to place me on statins, metformin and Byetta, all of which I refused to take. Having researched Dr. Thornalley's theory of diabetes being an acute thiamine deficiency, I started a regimen of vitamin and mineral supplements. Although the pain in my feet was quite severe, I wanted to avoid the regular drug regimen because it relied upon taking lots of pain killers that don't cure the problem. I reasoned that when the body's B vitamin levels are depleted due to high blood sugar, replenishing body stores through diet alone is difficult, so supplementation will be necessary. I started taking a dietary supplement of thiamine (benfotiamine, 250mg 4x/day). I also added of vitamin B-6 (250mg/day) and pyridoxal 5 phosphate (P5P, 100mg/day) magnesium (aspartate, citrate, malate, or chloride) and acetyl-l-carnitine (1000 mg/day) depending on the severity of my peripheral neuropathy symptoms. More recently I've learned of the importance of taking vitamin C to reduce inflammation and prevent oxidation from high blood sugar levels. My doctor did not approve of my self-treatment but was curious. I told him that I was willing to go back to the standard of care if this didn't work. "Positive factors for treating type 2 diabetes are magnesium, exercise, weight control, chromium, dietary fiber, the B-vitamins, vitamin E, vanadium, vitamin C, and complex carbohydrates. I have been using the positive factors for the past 40 years. When patients followed such a program, the results are very good." Abram Hoffer, MD, PhD The most overt of the neuropathy symptoms started to subside rapidly. Within a week, the shooting pains in my ankles were mostly gone. All of the other symptoms of numbness of the toes and overall pain of the feet including the "boot effect" (the feeling that you have your boots or socks on) were mostly gone in three weeks. Now I know this treatment may not be a cure for diabetes. But it is a valid and reasonably inexpensive way to control the symptoms, which are held at bay as long as you keep your thiamine levels high. If you quit taking thiamine and the other B vitamins, the symptoms come roaring back."
Has anyone noticed a decrease in mosquito bites while taking the ttfd? I know that seems vain but that’s why I take heavy doses of thiamine and I wonder if the ttfd is better at warding off mosquitos than the mono type. I studied that mosquitos don’t like the yeasty smell that thiamin creates in the pores, hence why the are no longer attracted to you if you take heavy doses of b1, is that true with ttfd as well?

About a year ago, I started to have numbness in the toes. Medical doctor and naturopathic doctor that I consulted told me that it was due to a low B12. Yes I was low in B12, received intramuscular injection, then oral supllement and now liposomal form, so B12 level are back to normal but no impact on peripheral numbness. I adopted a ketogenic diet 4 months ago, eating a very clean diet (organic, grass fed, etc..). Also starting to include exercice in lifestyle. I took it upon myself to find the cause of peripheral neuropathy since the health professional that I am consulting have no other solution than B12. From what I understand from your videos Thiamine deficiencies could be a cause. Do you think I can benefit fron taking TTFD? Thank you from Canada.

It apparently has the same impact as TTFD (in terms of its chemical properties). "Sulbutiamine is a disulfide derivative of thiamine." - Derrick Lonsdale
@@TonyVega123 There's a link in this blog there's a "Benfotiamine and Lipothiamine" link. You can find out about sulbutiamine by clicking that link. Navigating Thiamine Supplements by Derrick Lonsdale MD, FACN, CNS - www.hormonesmatter.com/navigating-thiamine-supplements/ That link leads you to this bit of research in PubMed: Benfotiamine, a synthetic S-acyl thiamine derivative, has different mechanisms of action and a different pharmacological profile than lipid-soluble thiamine disulfide derivatives. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18549472/
"Our results show that, though benfotiamine strongly increases thiamine levels in blood and liver, it has no significant effect in the brain.

You are most likely deficient in d3 start taking d3 with k2 so you can absorb it. That is causing the muscle pain/joint pain. Also low iron is common so take a good liquid iron. A lot of what your describing is d3, iodine deficiency & b1 deficiency. 💜 I hope your doing better.
Okay you are very deficient in nutrient. Go to a naturalpathy doctor get your intercellular blood work done. Hospitals won't do it and it will come out of your pocket, but you are describing everything I went thru for almost 5 yrs till a nurse slipped my husband a note saying what i'm saying to you....Go to a Natural path and get an Inter cellular blood test done. Hospital will only give you serum test and it only shows what you eaten in nutrients for the last day or so. You need to know what is actually in the Cells.

It's in so many things, enriched flour, my vitamins. So if you have a problem with nitrates, you might want to check the labels for Thiamine Mononitrate. It really sucks not being able to eat the foods you love, or go out to eat with family or friends. I had to turn down pizza dinner the other night.
You make your own pizza bread from einkorn. It is an non gmo heirloom ancient grain.you can even fermint the bread too.
The original pizza crust 200+ years ago was made with chickpea flour aka garbanzo beans.
Einkorn isn't enriched.
@@teresaoftheandes6279 It doesn't matter the variety of wheat, the ingredient label states if the flour used is enriched. King Arthur has non-enriched flours I can use. Pepper Ridge Farm Honey Wheat Bread seems to be very tolerable for me. It contains Thiamine 0.1mg, but its the natual B1 not the added manmade Thiamine Mononitrate. I can finally once again make a breakfast sandwich of toast, egg, cheese and a slice of un-cured ham with natures nitrates. And make a pizza.
It costs more for the un-cured meats, and the bread. But I get to have what I've missed. I have to cook from scratch for most things, but I'm a pretty good cook, LOL.
Right now I have Life Extension Benfotamine and some Allithamine
And how do these work for you?
@@bbeeaauu seems to help though need to do more reasearch
Thank you for this video. I learned a lot about thiamine.
Thank you for your information and research, Eliot. It is helpful.
Something that you could look into regarding absorption. Piperine (black pepper) is said to aid in absorbtion. It inhibits certain enzymes in the gut that inhibit absorption. Just a thought. Good luck
Hi Cynthia, how are you doing now? I've taken a lot of immune suppressants too, mainly mycophenolate mofeteil, to suppress auto immune muscle condition. I have had the same gut issues, which stem from the way the suppressants work, by reducing red and white blood cell numbers and affecting at DNA level. Basically i could barely function. By reducing dose and suppelemting high vit D3 magnesium zinc and also taking milk thistle (many benefits) and taking lots of probiotics I've been able to get my gut back to working properly again. I've just started B1 hcl slowly at 50mg twice a day and its having a great effect. I hope you can reduce your suppressants in this way to help improve your quality of life. Also, my mother had only one kidney which was failing and she was able to keep it stable for many years by taking nano particle magnesium, ionic, by a company called good state. It allows magnesium to get through all the tiny blood vessels. See the magnesium miracle by Carolyn dean.
@@leighwalton8190 Dr. Dean has her own brand out now called RNA ReSet. She's got some great products there. I use her ionic Picometer-sized MgCl for myself and also for my mom, who has CKD3.
@@ji.ol.1490 Hi and thank you so much for the information. I have been off the meds now for over a year and on a regime of supplements instead (including magnesium and at least 500mg of b1) and I feel great. My very best wishes to you and your mom.

Hi. For religious reasons I cannot take gelatine.
Would you have Ttfd in vegetarian form please
I noticed that the capsules on his site are cellulose, not gelatin. I don't do gelatin either.
Buy extra empty vegetables capsules and transfer them. Easy fix.
Someone posted a while ago.a book that describes how the b vitamins all work together. I can't remember the name
Do you have any videos on NMN? I tried taking it in a low dose with TMG, totally didn't agree with me, it made me so sleep for about 12 hours. I can't seem to handle some B vitamins, they make me feel weird, any idea why?
Please would you post a link for Part I. Thanks much.
The video states, that the bioavailibility of Benfotiamine is 5-10 times higher than the thiamine salts. Does this affect the dosing of Benfotiamine ? High dose is 1.800mg from Thiamin salts. How much is high dosing of Benfotiamine ? What is the bioavalaibility of TTFD ? How much is the high dosing of TTFD ?
TTFD is as bioavailable as benfotiamine, if not higher. The dosing is likely less - I usually see the therapeutic dose of TTFD at around 3-500mg, but sometimes less or more is required depending on the individual
@@EONutrition Thanks for the answer. What is the bioavailibility and dosing of Thiamine Pyrophospate ?
Hello.
What is the best form of B1 for people with high cholesterol and tinnitus? is it benfothiamine?do you think B1 can help with tinnitus? do you think cholesterol has to do with tinnitus? thanks.
Look into niacin....Niacin has been used as therapy for tinnitus for years with variable success. Niacin is thought to provide smooth muscle relaxation and perhaps increased blood flow to tiny blood vessels supplying the inner ear. Patients often sustain a blush when taking niacin in effective doses.
@@figy7147 Thanks for the info 😊
@Taiwo Omotosho thanks. I'll check it out 😊
Tinitus comes from a problem in your jaws or troat. Stop shewimg hard thins like almonds, or shewing big bites, reduce to a soft diet to statt. Also cough too much or clearing yoir troat to much will produce tinutes. Check you mollar tooth too, see if you clench your tooth at night it can cause tinitus.
@@rosaalcala5914 yes, I think you are right. I just had my tooth removed, and I just realised I clench my teeth especially at night. So next step is to check my jaw.
Thanks🙂💙
Can there be too much thiamine that accumulates inside the cell? Maybe it's best used cyclically since there's no regulator to limit uptake into the cell?
So as TTFD could chelate heavy metals, is it advisable to take it while still amalgam fillings are present? Or is it dangerous? TY
No I highly doubt that it is a problem. In fact, it would probably be very helpful
@@EONutrition i always read that a disulfide/thiol is possible to move mercury around, even into brain cells. So i hardly wonder if TTFD isnt doing the same
@@Pilzwichtel Well, the research indicates that it increases urinary and hair excretion. So My thoughts are that it pulls it out, and that might be why it can cause reactions in some people. That said, I am not certain. My video will be up later today on this very topic
So if I get a reaction to taking it...maybe that is a detoxing reaction and I should continue to take it? If I get a reaction my first action is to stop, but maybe faith and patience is needed here.

Absolutely superb job.
Do you know of any hereditary type of condition that could cause extreme B1 malabsorbtion? Extreme as in, ultimately leading to dementia and death.

Because benfotiamine and ttfd are synthetic, does this mean they are derived from petroleum like many other synthetic vitamins? Are they still safe to take for long periods of time ?
Wondering the same
Great video, however, nothing on TPP
Is ttfd the same as sulbutiamine?
No, Sulbutiamine and Fursultiamine (TTFD) are different, though related, thiamine derivatives.
What is your diet like? You need to avoid sugar, wheat, and any carbs. Try the carnivore diet.
This quote is from an article written by Stuart Lindsey PharmD. He mentions what he took to help his neuropathy:
"In 2005, a UK researcher named Paul Thornalley wrote a paper detailing how many diabetic symptoms are due to a deficiency of thiamine (B-1).[1] Elevated blood sugar promotes a type of toxicity in the kidneys that causes thiamine to be excreted by the kidney at a rate much higher (sixteen to twenty-five times higher) than normal, leading to an acute deficiency of thiamine.
When patients followed such a program, the results are very good." Abram Hoffer, MD, PhD
The most overt of the neuropathy symptoms started to subside rapidly.

About mosquitoes yeah I've known about vit b complex and it will help with mosquitoes biting . But in my experience they bite me but the bites never itched. You give off a smell bugs might not care for when taking b complex . 🦟🦟🦟
