Omg I bust out laughing right at the start! My mom decided I was going to be a dentist. But being a first generation born Asian-American, I only finished 3 years of that lol I ended up with a BS in Hotel Management. But at least mom died happy, because as an older adult I went back to school and now I'm an RN. The perfect career for a Filipino 😂
Watched this on Amazon prime. Honestly this was one of the best I have watched. All jokes were funny and truth in everything what she said not made up.
and the best part is that the language is clean. No F-bombs nor MoFos. Just good clean fun... As an Indian (in the US), I am really enjoying it - I just discovered her in the last couple of days... As you say, she is the funniest comic I have come across.
Just finished watching your show and you are hysterical!!! I have incredible respect for women who can express their lives with truth and laughter. Thank you so much for the great laughs, your awesome show and for being unapologetically you!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yeah it might be funny for Western people but it is a real dark truth for us. Worst is when they drag this money talk to make us feel that enjoying life as a student is a sin.
She's a hoot 😂. I work as an academic advisor for the history department. When see an Indian student wanting my major I'm happy and yet I wonder what their parents are thinking lol quite the conundrum
Omfg! My good friend is from India but she's all about Canadian culture. She doesn't put up with bs from her kids , neither do I. ( white Irish Canadian) this makes me laugh because it's sounds so much like both of us.
Just getting to experience you for the first time after discovering you through the great Jimmy Fallon. Your hilarious, what an honor to explore your mind 🎉
Does anyone know what city this special was filmed in? I have looked all over and I can't find it anywhere. Amazon doesn't bother to include in the description or details, and even the reviews I found neglect to mention it.
The only things I gave my kids a pass on was going out with friends and getting drunk. Told them that if that ever happened then they were to call me. I would come no matter when, where. But on the flip side I told them that if they ever did drive drunk that they would never have a car. Lol
my mom is quite different than majority latinas, many latinos parents pray the daughter doesnt end up pregnant. My moms dream is that I finish with my masters, doesnt matter if I had a family between my studies or im old. So long I get my diploma before she dies or gets dementia who know what illness. She will die happy if I get my diploma😂😂
I am an American, I don't Tell my Kids not to worry about grades. I told them that they could excell. That none of us were born stupid. We have brains we need to use it. I wanted them to study but not to the point of burning out. I had a Indian co-worker that Said her parents expected too much. She was married to an Indian (arranged marriage) Said her husband Never Shows love. Work, make Money was his aim. He was a terrible husband (cold, non compassionate) Hardly communicated with her. She felt she was alone married. I told my Kids do the best that you can. I will take A's and B's but I refuse "F" Grades. Not all Indian's are totally super smart (they work beside many of us at our jobs) Duh, they have them in all levels of jobs (even they work at McDonald's & Ross 😳😳😳😳
You are a LOUSY parent if you allow your child to select their major LOL It should be a discussion so you can review potential job prospects after graduation. Sure, your child will be happier but if they have few or zero job prospects, you have no one else to blame but yourself LOL Not all degrees are the same and no, going to university/college is NOT better than not going at all LOL But if your child is paying their own way, then yes, they can decide whatever they want... with the understanding that unless you're OK with it, they may live with you forever if they don't have many job propsects after earning their degree :)
Bro i am soo happy i dont have a mother like her. She is not entirely wrong but i can guarantee that one day when her kids are grown and mature enough, they will cut her out of their life. Parental trauma is real guys.
lol every Indian parent is like that, each and every word she said is true. And no you Americans are too softie to handle this, no we Indians don't cut off our parents.
I found most of the comments about her home country put by her in her episode are not correct. India has changed a lot and for lot better stuff in last two decades. She is just attaching some old memories of her roots just to malign her own homeland. This is ridiculous. She must be educated first about India of 21st century. Also , one dont need to ridicule others to create a comedy show. Even a humble villager living in India has self esteem which shal be respected instead of mocking !!
this is satire / fiction / comedy. you should take this literarily as if reading a scientific report or a news article. this is entirely a different genre.
Bro cool down. She's showing how Indian parents in the US feel when they have to dish out 80000 $ for something which idle villagers do freely. Shes praising the villagers, dude 👍
She's Indian. She's talking about India & Indian culture & Indian ideals. Indian stereo types are also 100% hers.... Wtf with everyone being a God damned white night? This is hilarious 😂. I am on page & all about this. Everything is constantly changing & we have to all laugh about it.... or we will all cry.
Naya mullah jyada alllah allah karta h. She has got a fortune in America but may be underneath having inferiority issues than white gentry there. So , To be more respectable in american society, Some indians take route of mocking thirr own country!
That's really not the case. I am from Romania (eastern Europe country) and our moms are just the same. She gets very well the struggle of an immigrant parent from a more "traditional country", I love her show.
Watching this, I honestly feel sad for real stand-up comedians. There are millions of genuinely talented and funny people out there, yet we are subjected to this pathetic, low-level comedy.
"She wants to have fun. I understand that. Give her one class in chemistry !" 😂

Just finished watching your show and you are hysterical!!! I have incredible respect for women who can express their lives with truth and laughter. Thank you so much for the great laughs, your awesome show and for being unapologetically you!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Do I laugh or do cry? The trauma is just coming back.
Yeah it might be funny for Western people but it is a real dark truth for us. Worst is when they drag this money talk to make us feel that enjoying life as a student is a sin.
Varna is the entire clap back to every immigrant kid complaining about their parents. I heart u Varna.
Zarna is the best! I watched this on Amazon Prime and laughed so much; oh my gosh; I love her!
She is DIVINE!!!
She's a hoot 😂. I work as an academic advisor for the history department. When see an Indian student wanting my major I'm happy and yet I wonder what their parents are thinking lol quite the conundrum

Everyone needs a creative outlet, but maybe not to the tune of $80K.

I didn't catch that she's joking???!!!
lol every Indian parent is like that, each and every word she said is true. And no you Americans are too softie to handle this, no we Indians don't cut off our parents.
Nope. They respect her. Something that in America is rare. Respect your elder!
Yeah, in your dreams.

See she is insulting Hindu gods and there is not a single unlike vaa 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻what a respect we giving to our own culture and religion......
Who is she making fun of?Her own country she chose to leave behind or the country she chose to go as an immigrant.🤔
Really so villagers in India have nothing else to do? Well at least they aren’t subjected to the shitty stand up

what exactly did she say derogatory? are you drinking tap water in india?
Ohh boy, Not even funny.
it may look funny but downgrading india and making jokes around it ain’t funny !
Yeah I agree with you
You know what degrading India....Modi Ji's silence on Manipur
but she’s a comedian
@@Tmeenakshi9926 what do you propose? Do you have any solutions for the problems occurring since decades in north east ?

Why does her jokes, almost Always puts us Indians 🇮🇳 and our villagers down 😢😢😢
It’s called comedy.
Yes comedy. Don’t take it so personally
Naya mullah jyada alllah allah karta h.

look up the definition of "satire" and "harms lies of nationalism"
