    Indians are not singers and not dancers! What about Rafi, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Lata, Asha! And please ask her what is Indian classical music. Has she heard of Tansen! Ask her about Arijit Singh and AR Rahman.
    What about Bharat Natyam,Kathak and so many dance forms. This India bashing is not funny at all, in fact very despicable.

    Zarna left India more than 50 years ago. This country became independent only 75 years ago. The issue is that India has come a long way since then and Indians have collectively worked very hard to make the sea change .. I have never experienced any of the stereotypes she mentions nor have I heard of anyone I know (here in India) having similar experience as her. Problem is when she passes off her own experience of 53 years ago (in what sounds like a very atypical household - not typical or normal at all even during those times - I myself come from humble background and yet my grandmother from a small town had a post graduate degree) as what happens in India today… sorry to say that’s why her experience sounds bizzare to most Indians and hence they protest. It may sound like hate when they air their frustration as being defamed and misrepresented into regressive typecasts when they have worked to hard to come out of it for so many years by an Indian as it’s not fair to Indians.

      @Anione111 Рік тому +11

      My feeling is that your household is atypical. A grandmother who is a post graduate, really??!! Zarna stereotypes are a comic exaggeration of what is very true of India even today. I am not sure where in India you are looking. India is very vast great contrast between villages, small towns, and cities; educated and uneducated; traditional and modern; small minded and broad minded households. I certainly do not feel Zarna is misrepresenting India and yet her audience is intelligent enough to know she takes comic liberties and her words cannot be taken as seriously.

    Zarina seems to come from a very repressive family.. I heard she had to escape to America with the help of her sister to avoid an arranged marriage. Indians have come a long way ahead in terms of standard of living, education, technology, public facilities, infrastructure, etc. But Zarna seems oblivious to all that.Also what she says about the pathetic condition of women here is also wrong… that women in india have to hide and watch her videos… there is no comedy here and what not all bogus facts she is stating with so much confidence , making people of india look like backward illiterates. I’m sure she hasn’t watched a single standup comedian… indian standup comedians are evn making jokes of themselves accepting themselves as lesbians.. Zarna thinks that in the state she was in at the time she left india… everyone is frozen there and nothing changed here afterwards. She is teaching wrong things to Americans about India.

    This lady gets laughter at the expense of belittling our Indian Culture and she feels that is a great accomplishment. Definitely she has not visited India since ages..

    It’s a challenge to all comedians - show me funny WITHOUT making fun of ANYBODY or ANYTHING. Can you do that???
    IMPOSSIBLE!!
    Comedy should not be about making fun of something or somebody.

    This is misrepresentation of Indian reality nobody has to hide and watch comedy that makes fun of mother in laws. Those jokes have always been there in movies and in social media.

    I don't think Indians are not singers or dancers. I think Zarna has half baked knowledge about India. Can't blame her, she is a Newyorker.
