TBH, I actually really like Liko. I can actually relate to how she feels & I really like how far she's gone to protect Sprigatito and help it master its Leafedge. If she ends up being the more prominent protagonist of the series, I'd be all for it. Looking forward to episode 3.

Spoilers for the first episode, I guess. But one of the things that made feel good about Horizons is that- even though there's often this tendency in anime to make shy/soft-spoken characters naive or way too incompetent (esp if they are female)- Liko gets to be timid, lacking in confidence and always in her head about social interactions, but also she's no idiot or coward. She realized right away something was off, she played along without missing a beat until she could remove herself from the situation, and she was still able to move and do what she thought was best in that situation despite clearly being scared. I think I'm going to like this kid.
Also, the fact that they had pokemon from all over the regions on the ship tells me we might finally get a story that involves several regions. The ship is clearly going to be a big part of the series and they can totally travel around with it.
I really love her way more than Ash as well and it’s so nice to see a character who can relate to a lot of people (myself included) along with being very studious yet cautionary, not to mention it’s hilarious that Liko broke the 4th wall as evidenced by “Am I the heroine of the story!!?”
There are others that I really love a lot such as Frieda, Amethio, Orla and Molly as well; really loved both episodes a lot but I’d say I love episode two more, just wished they spent way more time with the school setting along with showing off the Paldea a lot more in comparison to what they did with Galar because I was a tiny bit disappointed of how they entirely treated Galar as a whole despite me liking it and please equalize Paldea and Kanto a lot (especially with the world-building, the academy and the regions as a whole!!!), not to mention it was a little too fast paced for my liking but everything else was spot on!!! 🤭🧡🩵💛

We're Gonna have a Real New Series
This was really good start for pokemon anime. Giving the anime team production enough time, and changing the cast really did help out a lot. We saw this great potential in Pokemon Chronicles, Pokemon Evolution, and Pokemon Generations, but the old formula really did held back the original pokemon anime.
There was a surprisingly large amount of collateral damage in these episodes.
The fact that Liko broke the 4th wall in acknowledging that she's the heroine of her protagonist story. Already she's more personally relatable than Ash Ketchum, not that he was a bad character.
Yeah, she' s a different kind of protagonist for sure.
IKR man I already like Liko more than Ash if I’m being fr. Lilly was my all time favourite character from Pokémon and Liko is bringing back some of the feels I got from Lilly. NO other character in the series was able to do that. Liko is also just so relatable.
She's not breaking the fourth wall. She's not talking to the audience. She's just talking to herself like how she does since the start of her story.
As legendary as Ash was, he was never really a proper character, so I'm happy to see a more varied personality take on the protagonist role.

my ONLY problem with these episodes is that the academy being in Kanto is absolutely pointless. they could have just as easily set it at the Paldean academies.
"my parents both went to this academy" which means her parents are probably both from Kanto and moved to Paldea or maybe Paldea doesn't have its own academy yet if the timeline it's before the games events for example.
Also Roy is from Kanto so they needed a way for Liko to meet Roy and also this is a series around the world so Kanto would still be shown sooner or later

I really like the start of the anime. I'm pretty sure the demographic for this anime would not be catered towards 10 year-olds like the previous gens, but more for the overall demographic since the bad guys are just the bad guys. No unnecessary butt of a joke episodes, just for the sake of it. Of course, I love the Team Rocket trio, but most of the time, the writers always delegate their roles too much as a comedic relief than actual character development plots.
I want a serious pokemon series but not like as serious as these new main villains actually..unlike team rocket we love them..this new villain we HATE them if they're always like that(making us frustrated every episodes)..the series of ash is boring without team rocket's funny scene...unless they're not that bad after more episodes..

Whether it is with comedy or none, what I need for a villain is individuality. Basically his thoughts, actions and desires towards achieving his goals is what makes a good villain. Something down to earth of course, relatable even. Hinging from good and evil.
@@gelnart25 I have a feeling that Amethio could be a antihero but even if he is not still I don't think they did any frustating job I think we will soon see other villain or bully like characters as she is in a school
I Japan the anime was actually moved to near Yokai Watch on TV which could mean they're aiming more towards teens
I hope that this new series is set in the same timeline as the original series, so we could possibly see Ash and co make cameo appearances

Im hoping its like (the 2nd season of avatar I forgot the name sorry) where all the characters from the previous events of the story are like really old and have descendants.
I think Pokemon crushed it with these 2 episodes. I love how it doesn't feel like the Pokemon we're used to, but like a normal anime set around Pokemon. The characters and their designs are all great so far, and I like their personalities. The details with how the Pokemon are used to fly the airship reminds me of some of the UA-cam specials. Overall, this felt more like a UA-cam special than the regular Pokemon TV anime.

In comparison to the 1st episode of any Pokemon series thus far. This one is the most intense one. Like, theres dread and conflict from the get go!
I feel like if sprigitito did fully evolve, then it would give way more character for meowscarada and i feel like it would be liked more as a charater and not just furry bait.

I love how Friede is rocking my trainer outfit almost to an T 😂 but someone my friend noticed is that looks like this series is doing chapters starting with Liko and Roy so perhaps we’re getting character chapters to know about each of them. Indeed as you said if the series holds to what these first two episodes I’m hooked in 😆. (An weirdo in an Pokémon suit 😂😂😂 I like Nidothing he’s funny)

Apparently Nidothing gender is unknown but the Japanese version with eng sub refers to them as female. But still, it’s still unknown who they really are! My guess is Iono tho they don’t say Iono’s signature lines…. Hmmm…. Nidothing is obviously an important character so who in the world could they be? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I'm still intrigued about that absolute monster of a Leafage. Like that one attack in EP2 seemed absurdly powerful compared to how strong it should have been. So I wonder if there's a story behind that or if it was just pure grit and determination.
Also, I take Liko's savviness over Ash's borderline-immortal recklessness any day.
I really like Liko as mc…. The art-style is great
Im fairly certain too that the "Explorers" aren't even an evil team.... it's just that they're very forceful in the way they approach completing their objectives.
These first two episodes already reminded me a LOT more of the more modern anime series we have than the classic Pokemon formula we had for 2 and a half decades
Honestly, I really enjoyed the premier. Watched it with some friends and we had a lot of fun the whole time, even for being in our late 20's and early 30's! Excited for more!
They Certainly Showed Sprigatitos protenial i mean if pikachu is anything at all Ashes pikachu it was great i actually Happy they made Captain Pikachu a badass like there is a trully Badass reason Hes called captain pikachu He Defends his ship

One funny thing is that I named my Sprigitito Liko when i first gotten violet (before it was announced Ash was retiring) and now we have our new main character being named Liko for a Scarlet and Violet anime.
no offense we all grew up with Ash, but this new pokemon feels like The - Pokemon show, unlike The Ash Ketchum show. it really just feels different, with that Captpikachu hype moves on par with kid Naruto and that new opening trailer feels like the 1st season of one piece. well to me at least!

@@thefearlessone2649 no because Roy is fixing to come in with his own mystery and battle just as much or more then liko and friede/crew seem their going to be just as important or slightly less important then liko/Roy which is good the only 1s of ash’s friends that felt like they were equal to ash in my opinion was may, dawn, Lillie and goh because they got a lot of screen time and story just for them.

I'm honestly more intrigued by the mystery of Liko's parents, and her grandma more than how the plot will turn out
They make a totally different anime. There is no need to compare Pokemon and Pokemon Horizons. Horizons isn't an a parallel anime. Liko isn't Ash's female clone too. She is an unique character. It's good for audience to like new series.

Story seems good. Liko thinks much but speaks less. I like her introvert character. Other characters seem colorful.
Artstyle is OK but I don't like animation. They should add more music too.

Even though it’d be cool to see Meowscarada in the anime, I hope Liko keeps Sprigatito as it is or goes into a even more rebellious phase in its mid evolution like Goh’s cinderace as a scorbunny! That’d be nice in my opinion! Btw I can’t wait for our boy Roy to come into the story with his energetic and childish personality!
i shall say that lightning rod boosted volt tackle tactic was golden i want to see more of that battle planning in the future it reminds me so much of sasuke using fireballs in the sky to set up a thunderstorm for his lightning jutsu called kirin

The Pokémon Colosseum series is still the coolest thing I've ever seen that wasn't SV, PLA, B2W2, Platinum, HGSS, or Stadium. And, Liko choosing Sprigatito? I like her already. Plus, Captain Pikachu is turning out so much better than I even wanted him to be.
Poke park is my fave spin-off game as well and I would love a third poke park game

Strangely enough, my favorite spin off is the Mystery Dungeon series. I say "strangely" because I have only played one of those games, which was Gates to Infinity. I watched Let's Plays of the others, so when I saw the same story beats in PLA, you can only imagine my excitement and awe of the writing. That's mostly why I like that series.

However I AM still quite worried how they’re going too make this series go one for at least as long as with Ash. Because we do not have a clear motivation for Liko, i can not really see what the future will bring. I’m sure that she’ll do fine and that her vague motivation can be a motivator to go on travels and to other regions. But~ she needs someone to actually focus her motivation. Maybe she could become the first anime canon character to catch all (or at least, all non-legendary) Pokémon (if you do not count Red as canon to the Anime)? 🤔

Who says the series is meant to go on that long? They said 2023 and beyond sure but the series is divided in parts so who knows if each part isn't a different story plot or if there will be parts with different protagonists. Who knows if next Gen we will be getting new protagonists and each new Gen the protagonists change?

Pokemon Conquest has a very good despite the graphics.. I enjoyed playing it back in the day.. they should do a remake of it, adding the newer pokemons

Seeing Skies of Arcadia being mentioned in this video made my night. It's my favorite RPG game of all time. Wish they made a remake or sequel.
Pokemon Horizons does have that feel of wonder and adventure. I am excited for this new take and hopefully the anime continues this trend.
Another Skies fan! It's my favourite RPG of all time, too. I was even suggesting to my wife to try playing it the other day, though I wonder how she'd handle that wild random encounter rate lol.

Liko is an alright character but I think the first few episodes are a bit rushed, like we're introduced to Liko and Sprigatito and all of a sudden they're chased by the adventurers (don't really remember they're name.)
I also think it was pretty useless introducing Anne this early on if they aren't going to give her screen time for a while
PokePark is so underrated.
Idk man, but I expected Capn Pikachu to have a deeper voice than Ash's Pikachu. When Capn Pika spoke, I thought, "Is this Ash's Pikachu?" But when it used Thunder Punch, "Nope! Definitely not. This fight will be interesting. Definitely not a beatdown." Because we all know that Ash's Pikachu can easily destroy that Ceruledge.
I love the first 2 episode but there were times when the animations are just bad. It was extra bad when the villains were ramming the ship's barriers. I just pretend that I did not see that. Haha
I realized that the new Pokémon anime had things good already understandable because the previous series has already established the Pokémon world itself. No more need for expansive world-building because that was did by Ash for 26 years, especially in his last years. Everything we will see from now on is just pure anime story. I believe the world-building Journeys did paid off. It's now easier to create multiple stories set in the same world like how things work in Star Wars now. I'm definitely looking forward to the future of Pokémon anime.
Btw, Red Rescue Team is still the best spinoff. Haha

Really like the more mature tone it has so far. Like Liko mental maturity (for a kid). Trying to assess the situation best she can (though still limited by her being a kid), catching herself getting caught up in the swing of things and reminding herself that she got to try and stay aware of what's going on, aware that while her new group don't seem to be bad people she still can't trust them as they have still kidnapped her (obviously as far as they're concerned they rescued her but even if that's the intention they have still kidnapped her and she's aware of that).
And simple things like when the creepy guy turned up with the letter she knew straight away this wasn't right and something is wrong, while I could imagine Ash being like "cool bruh here you go", but rather then immediately freaking out instead played along to secure the pendant and make some distance. But still had her freak out once behind closed doors cause she's still human and a kid. Or like when and Sprig weren't getting along with her rather then being like "what a dick head/if I show it my love it will love me or having a major event straight away that makes it respect her instead she took the time to let it do what it wanted and learn more about what it likes to do/it's language and it's clear from doing that during the time jump she was able to bond with it like that more organically.
Plus in regards to the leafage for the people who view it as an ass pull from the writers it's clear it's not gonna be that strong all the time and clearly been influenced by the necklace activating earlier which we'll find out exactly how later on.
Probably something along the lines of absorbing a load of power from it and releasing all that stored power in one go or something.
Liko's nice and relatable in a different way than Ash so far. Also digging our volteccer crew. Felt a little disrespected by no "who's that pokemon?" Adjacent segment lol. Guess we don't do that round here in Horizons land, new age and all that

Doubt it boruto had to follow in his dad’s footsteps because they were family and the world was continuing from Naruto badly while HZ did a complete clean slate as of now there is no hint of ash and friends anywhere which I thought there would be something in the first couple of ep to play on nostalgia for older fans but no they where like take them or leave them your not getting Easter eggs of the old series
Nah first 2 episodes are already miles better than Boruto. Who says this can't be like Yugioh GX instead which did really well and it's the favorite series for a lot of people or even 5Ds

You know damn well Kanto Ash would have relied on Misty or Brock to tell him not to give the pendant given the same situation. Liko is far more inquisitive and analytical by comparison.

Using same gen 1 mons that the last protagonist also captured.. Giant L.. World was forcefed kanto mons for the last 20 years in the anime.. And the games..
A pre-release moment like ho-oh's isnt enough to save a series that relies on using the same animations.. Recycled over and over..
Waiting an entire tournament to only be given a stupid thunderbolt isnt rewarding..
Seeing other characters get stomped out by the galar chump was the dumbest decision in the entire entity on this animation..
