You can really tell that Arven looks like both of his parents. He's got Sada's eyes, Turo's jawline, and a combination of their hair colours. It's a really good detail that makes it clear that he was designed with both games in mind, or that both professors were designed with him in mind.
There's also the likelihood that Arven is the child of both professors regardless of version, remember, he still has an absentee parent that's likely still alive on both games

It broke my heart in Violet to figure out that Sada peaced out cause Turo lost it, left him with Arven and Turo literally died and we spend the whole time trying to save his dying dog just to find out he already had a dead single dad
I appreciate them actually killing their professor. I also like how the game make you care about Arven, Penny and Nemona to the point it felt believable that they all became friends at the end.
@@madnessarcade7447 Every game has tried that but Gen 9 is the first time it genuinely succeeds. Like did you give any crap about the Gen 6 circle of friends or the Gen 3 rival who was just you but worse? Hop was a big step in having a rival character with a major and entirely believable character arc and resolution but he suffers from "not the main protagonist" syndrome.
I feel like that IS the whole point of Scarlet and Violet's base game. Arven, Penny, and Nemona become close after learning they were cut from the same cloth. And I honestly love it. Because c'mon, there is no way they walked out of Area Zero and didn't become friends... and despite almost dying.

Standard _Pokémon_ procedure is for Protag-kun or Protag-chan to have a missing dad (unless you’re May/Brendan). But Arven is like “hold my tear stein” and has missing _both,_ plus a monster tried to kill his doggo friend. The same monster that killed Mom/Dad (which has to have him like, “yo, WTF?”, when you catch it and add it to the team.)

Arven's story was the most compelling to me in the vanilla-game. Even before learning of his dog's sickness, I was curious about his personality and overall the way he was acting. When learning of his mabostiff's condition, it really hit me and felt the sense of wanting to quickly help him. But it wasn't until the end of the story- that it really hits me harder than ever the position that this kid was in. Prof. Sada/Turo's obsession with reaching what is considered an "astronomical" goal and neglecting in the first place what they always wanted which was a family... It's very admirable Arven's resolve, specially for his age. He is my second favorite story in the entirety of SV's titles! Always enjoy seeing him push forward for his goals and dreams. Also been enjoying these analysis of the characters- brings forwards the human aspects of them. While PKMN writing is usually simpler, you can find the possible complexity.

All of the major characters have their own "greatest treasure". Arven's is Mabosstiff, Penny's is Team Star (and us, who helped bring them back to their senses), Nemona's is us (someone she can call her equal), Ogerpon's is her past trainer, (and us, who helped retrieve the stolen masks AND prove her innocence), and ours is whatever we want it to be.

I know how that feels for a sad scene to pour salt into a wound like that. 8 1/2 years ago, my aunt died, and on the day before her funeral, I witnessed the deathscene of a character in Fire Emblem Fates. I won't spoil who it was, I'll just say it's the last character to die in the Birthright route, so that also made the pain of losing my aunt even worse. @@nesradub360I guess Marowak’s mother means nothing to you? I can think of other instances like when that one old man in Pokémon X and Y dies after you foster his last Pokemon
Yeah when I first started playing Violet, I made jokes about Turo being a robot to my boyfriend. Kinda like in a "Could Mr. Krabs be.... A rObOt?" Sort of way. Little did I know that my joke was actually true. Like I was busting my gut when I was watching my partner play Scarlet and they revealed that she was, in fact, a robot. 😂
Scarlet had one of the best final battles out of every game i played in terms of mainline pokemon games (X, US, SW, and Gen 9 Scarlet), except for Ultra Necrozma, that crap was so hard
I knew Arven would be my favorite from all games when i had barely defeated the second titan and i was already SOBBING so early into the adventure. Hes just such a well written, well-rounded, nicely designed and compelling character that is impossible not to love him.
Do you hate Arven? Don’t worry, you can’t hate Arven more than the game itself does :) Wanna know a little detail that makes it worse? Arven’s love for sandwiches is related to this too. In the lab at the lighthouse, there’s a kid’s book about making sandwiches. Something that 1. Arven probably read over and over since he was lonely and 2. Probably used as a guide on how to make food for himself since his parents weren’t around to make meals for him.
The entire story of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet including the DLC are not that bad. However the Pecharunt Prologue could have been better if they expanded few things, and not lock this event behind a distribution item.
Spoilers for The Peach Epilogue Fun Fact: The little energy he puts into his Peca Dance when he’s possessed is a subtle reference to the amount of energy his parents spent on him.
I attributed it more towards Arven trying to resist physically, while Penny was resisting mentally, which is why Arven appears to be embarrassed when you call his name out, and Penny is able to get bits and pieces of her classic "Veevee" phrases out (Chee chee, Mocheeon, etc). Arven is trying to not dance, Penny is trying to talk to us. And Nemona... Well, as Kieran put it so eloquently, Pecharunt couldn't override her battle mania so she likely had full control over her actions and mind, but went along with it just to battle us. Like how fans think Peach keeps getting kidnapped so Mario will save her, I think Nemona got possessed so we'd battle her. Heck, she even trolls us after being freed, and seems to recognize she was under mind control while none of the others even hint at remembering their actions.

People always made fun of me before i could finish explaining why pokemon scarlet was one of the first pokemon games to make me cry. At the age of 13 in 2021. Watching arven not have his mother in his life, find his mother, find out shes fake and that his mom is actually dead, have that fake mom use his mothers voice to tell him he loves her then straight up vanish... yea it made me cry. I was able to somewhat relate
When I finished path of legends (first path of first playthrough) and got to battle him, I was like "Bitch, you coulda done all that yourself. Why ask my for help?". Cuz seriously, my pokemon were mostly under level 40 and the ones above that barely listened while his were almost 60 each.
Arven has become my favorite character in Pokemon I’m still a little bitter that he had no part in the DLC until the epilogue. I just replayed Scarlet and Violet and for some reason i feel his story is even more tragic in Scarlet
I also thought it was pretty assholish of him to be insulting Miriadon for no real reason till I learned what he went through with his dad, sad and disappointing.
Just started playing pokemon scarlet and I had to find somewhere to say this. I've never been so invested with a story in a Pokemon game ever and its been years since I last played a Pokemon title. I thought Arven was going to be absolute douche in the beginning only to make me sob for a good 10 mins. bugs and performance issues aside, I'm surprised with how much fun I'm having with Pokemon SV
I'm surprised he didn't try to dive into the past. I have this game but I don't think I even went to any gyms, my Pokemon aren't on high levels, I got distracted by animal crossing and other things that came out... Did he hop into a time machine where his mom was still alive and give her proof of her failures? If he does and see he can't stop her then he should let go.
What? The Player only ever helped Arven. Sada/Turo abandoned him, and the Raidon hurt Mabosstiff before the Player ever even showed up. He/She helped Arven get the Herba Mysticas, since it wasn’t going to happen with Arven’s randomons that he caught in the area 5 minutes ago.
@@jacobwells9207we're not sure if the player caused the death of Sada/Turo. Before the events of Teal Mask and Indigo Disk and finishing the main game Arven did look deeper in his parent's research and how Sada/Turo were trying to figure out who the mystery pokemon is and how it relates to the tera form pokemon get (which so happens to be Terapagos). Professor Turo/Sada in the timeline where the game is died before getting to know the truth and neither of them knew who Briar was at the time. The Professor Turo/Sada that we saw at the Crystal Pool was an alternate timeline to which either of them could've had a similar fate as the one we had but as both caught eye on the book being the answer to the questions they've been looking for both professors insist to trade books for it. The player didn't have much of a choice and you can't deny it since Sada/Turo would still want the book and will keep asking until you say yes. I'm only guessing that after Sada/Turo got a copy of Briar's book they would spend less time at the lab and focus on Arven.
Look, I'm having a debate in a comment. So if you can make a video on the whole ash or battle ash and Serena thing or ash and misty thing, go ahead please. But also side note serena's best girl
Pokémon is better with the story about being a champion. The SV base story would have felt too much like a movie. Video games are about interacting with the world and characters.
Satoshi already completed his Paldea assignment since his treasure would be Pikachu. School settings restrict the adventuring and custom freedom too much that the schools in Houen, Shin'ou, and Kalos are much better like they are training modes that you do battle some trainers for the basics.
Is not the tragic of a story and it when that far enough, remember harry potter, arven is harry potter first thing arven and harry lost there parent, the one killed harry parent is a evil creature that is called voldomort yeah voldomort is not a human anymore, for arven is evil creature called miraidon and koraidon, arven has friends a smart one is penny, hyper one is nemona she always hyper if battle is involved and also a normal one which is the player character, harry has a harmone is the smart one, ron is the hyper one, and also nevel who is the normal one, both have a headmaster that is concern about them and both headmaster went on a mission to stop what is happing, arven headmaster went on mission about team star, harry headmaster went on a mission to find the hocrax, even the teacher we have same, its copy and paste they just make it pokemon style harry potter, even the underdepths is same as the chamber of secrets the only different is there is no chase scene and kieren can't control terapagos full power, in the chamber of secret we have one teacher 2 students and one villian, the underdepths we have one teacher 2students and one villain same just added pokemon change on it, so this is just copy paste of harry potter my dude this is not tradgic at all
@@Yoshizuyuner my point is that if you gonna use the same trope, you should change it that the story its self is not a copy but feel as there own story and also because of persona 5, gamefreak added school setting on pokemon scarlet and violet, and the latest game i can fee that they will put palworld element on it because it become popular like what happen to yokai watch anime because of its anime becoming popular, the pokemon anime change its design to match up with the yokai anime.
I hope in the next games we can get this kinda darker story. I feel like Scarlet and Violet (Despite the flaws) had a genuine great story and did great writing characters, Arvin being the biggest example. I do hope that the next gen games also have a few darker stories to tell.

every generation has environmentalism its been a core of the franchise since Gen 1
Pokémon has always been an allegory about the preservation of nature and coexisting with nature
So it’s not a “trope” it’s activist message from someone who cares about the environment teaching the rest of us to do the same
Gen 8 literally had a message about global warming with galarian corsola
It’s not just a “trope” it’s at the core of the franchise has been since Gen 1 and it will never be played out because it’s very real and keeps happening and will always happen so new people will always need that message
The franchise is based on the creator’s childhood hobby of bug collecting and then losing that hobby due to industrialization
Such a deep message like that is one of the things that makes pokemon so unique
And many more examples in every game in each generation
Environmentalism will always be a part of Pokémon’s heart and soul because of the creator’s passion for nature and that’s not something that should ever be taken for granted by you or by anyone and clearly it’s a message that everyone needs to learn always that not everyone has learned since nature keeps being abused
There are a lot of people who got into careers about animals and nature like zoology and marine biology because of Pokémon

Arven has become my favorite character in Pokemon I’m still a little bitter that he had no part in the DLC until the epilogue. I just replayed Scarlet and Violet and for some reason i feel his story is even more tragic in Scarlet
People who didn’t like SV/the story are heartless lol
I cried when Arven brought out the dog for the first time
@@BillSchradersame
I also thought it was pretty assholish of him to be insulting Miriadon for no real reason till I learned what he went through with his dad, sad and disappointing.
A "little" Sad
No it was really sad
It's funny that when I first saw arven I said
"I hope his dog dies" and then I realized he actually has a dog and now I feel bad
remember when everyone thought he was gonna be like volo
Can you do a video about Penny's story?
Ps sada is actually alive she somewhere in the dlc
Just started playing pokemon scarlet and I had to find somewhere to say this. I've never been so invested with a story in a Pokemon game ever and its been years since I last played a Pokemon title. I thought Arven was going to be absolute douche in the beginning only to make me sob for a good 10 mins. bugs and performance issues aside, I'm surprised with how much fun I'm having with Pokemon SV
SV are my fav games. I don't care if it looks bad!
Yes!!
Pokemon scarlet went too far, but violet didnt.
He played scarlet both are same
@@madnessarcade7447 yeah, but at least mention the other one.
Despite the bugs that the games had I say that it's the best ones since gold ,silver and XY.
My main man arven
Everything that happened to Arven was the Player's fault
@@GamerFromJump Look up the Terapagos Crystal Pool Scene from SV
@@yunarukami6161 Or ignore Arven to complete the time machine which brought over the Paradox Pokemon, and the Koraidon/Miraidon that killed Sada/Turo
Look, I'm having a debate in a comment. So if you can make a video on the whole ash or battle ash and Serena thing or ash and misty thing, go ahead please.
But also side note serena's best girl
Now give us Pokémon violet went too far!
Pokémon is better with the story about being a champion. The SV base story would have felt too much like a movie. Video games are about interacting with the world and characters.
Well each new game has a bigger and bigger focus on narrative so get used to it
People get sick of becoming a champion every game that’s why they add these other narratives
The story does just that
i believe both sada and turo are his parents
You can say what you want about the graffics or hiw rhe game runs, but sv have rhe best story in pokemon imo
Satoshi already completed his Paldea assignment since his treasure would be Pikachu. School settings restrict the adventuring and custom freedom too much that the schools in Houen, Shin'ou, and Kalos are much better like they are training modes that you do battle some trainers for the basics.
Nice video charles
Thanks!
Arven’s parents… are horrible… no he loves his dog a lot…
❤️
As long as the Pokemon anime is running I will never give up hope on Ash and Serena becoming a couple
They’re children this is really sus
@@BillSchrader I don't give a fuck
dude they’re like 10 lmao
Is not the tragic of a story and it when that far enough, remember harry potter, arven is harry potter first thing arven and harry lost there parent, the one killed harry parent is a evil creature that is called voldomort yeah voldomort is not a human anymore, for arven is evil creature called miraidon and koraidon, arven has friends a smart one is penny, hyper one is nemona she always hyper if battle is involved and also a normal one which is the player character, harry has a harmone is the smart one, ron is the hyper one, and also nevel who is the normal one, both have a headmaster that is concern about them and both headmaster went on a mission to stop what is happing, arven headmaster went on mission about team star, harry headmaster went on a mission to find the hocrax, even the teacher we have same, its copy and paste they just make it pokemon style harry potter, even the underdepths is same as the chamber of secrets the only different is there is no chase scene and kieren can't control terapagos full power, in the chamber of secret we have one teacher 2 students and one villian, the underdepths we have one teacher 2students and one villain same just added pokemon change on it, so this is just copy paste of harry potter my dude this is not tradgic at all
pretty sure harry potters story isnt unique as well so dose that invalidate its story? probably not
@@Yoshizuyuner my point is that if you gonna use the same trope, you should change it that the story its self is not a copy but feel as there own story and also because of persona 5, gamefreak added school setting on pokemon scarlet and violet, and the latest game i can fee that they will put palworld element on it because it become popular like what happen to yokai watch anime because of its anime becoming popular, the pokemon anime change its design to match up with the yokai anime.
i ❤ arven club

Scarlett time-line is Fine🕹🎮🗺🧭🌎🏔😅👍
God the editing in the intro is too much GET ME OUTTA HERE IT'S TOO FAST
I hope in the next games we can get this kinda darker story.
I feel like Scarlet and Violet (Despite the flaws) had a genuine great story and did great writing characters, Arvin being the biggest example.
I do hope that the next gen games also have a few darker stories to tell.
If we’re talking about having the darkest past N is above Arven he was abused by his father as a child and been betrayed by his father and he almost lost a eye by his father in the manga and the manga is a whole other level to Arven
Nah, didn't go too far at all. It's a kid's game, and even with Arvin's story, it's more tame than so many kids movies. *coughBAMBIcough*.
they didnt even show bambi father got shot
I hated this storyline because my actual dog at the time had died. I genuinely wish they'd have an alternative ending or something because that bush-around beating was terrible
