- Ghost have finally hit the big time. They've put out Rite Here Rite Now (2024) into theaters for two nights only. It's easily one of the best concert movies ever made. For a Ghost fan, this is a dream come true. Check out my impressions and review of the movie as we dive deep into it.

Agree. Great concert footage. Tobias has so much stage presence and charisma. Papa’s dilemma was palpable.
I was struck by how much that storyline hit me emotionally.
@@HunterBoldingVideo I sat in the theater wondering if I was watching an unwilling lamb go to slaughter. I didn’t know how I’d feel after everything played out. Would it be sad? Was it inevitable? I never imagined how it actually played out though. What an interesting twist.

I felt like Tobias kind of split the difference between fans being rather attached to that lovable dork, Cardi, and also continuing in the Ghost tradition of eventually retiring Papas from the frontman on stage role.
A few of my theaters are still screening RHRN through Thursday. Just a heads up in case anyone wants to go, yet again, and be a repeat offender.
Maybe Hunter could research the box office numbers for RHRN and compare to other concert films? That would be rather interesting!
@@GhostifiedGhoulishness I liked the twist at the end. I wonder if Tobias’ real life family had an influence on the direction he took. I can’t wait for the reveal.
I felt like the set list did a good job at covering every era of Ghost for every different fan 🤘🏻🤘🏻
It did, it was a nice mix of their different eras.
i didnt realize it would be a concert film when i went in but i still loved it! the energy was a bit awkward in the theater tho bc its odd to be witnessing a concert experience while in a movie theater because i just desperately wished we could have been cheering and singing along as if we were there. it was so good i loved seeing Ghost's stage presence in such high detail. absolutely beautiful film and SUCH a good tracklist
also REALLY funny energy in the theater lobby before the showing started as it was a mix of gussied-up ghost fans in cosplay, and families showing up to watch Inside Out 2 😂
I remember really wanting to cheer and stuff in the theater lol. A couple people whooped just as it started and people were holding up Rock and roll signs with their hands during some of the songs, but it would've been way cooler if we could like cheer and sing along and stuff.
Theater audience was lame when I saw it today. I was singing (not loudly) and jamming out. Didn't care what other people were doing I was having fun. 😊
@@christybusch3298 theater etiquette is pretty different from rock concert etiquette lol, so I guess I understand, and it might've been a little much if people were shouting and stuff in the theater seats. I think people definitely still had fun, it's just a different setting and so different behavioral expectations.
My God that If You Have Ghosts song was HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!! And the message papa gave, hit us ALL straight in the feels man! A lot of tears from a lot of people at my showing. Fantastic
It was awesome!!! Saw it last night. Can't wait to buy the dvd!!! Went to see them in Utah, August 2023. They rocked!! but damn! This movie rocked even harder! Editing and sound mix was perfect! Few songs we didn't get in Utah that were in this concert. EXCELLENT!!! Want to go see it again.

I'm so glad I saw this in the theater and the message to live in the present (and to enjoy life) came through loud and clear.
It was an awesome experience from beginning to end.
Loved how they added bass tones..when the fire was used. Loved the Bates motel nod. Loved his humor throughout the backstage footage. Love how they left us on a cliffhanger at end of credits, which the entire theater waited for here in N Seattle. I read where some think it's a twin, and I don't think so. I was wondering what kind of song was at the credits..then found it on UA-cam on our way home! Which means he released it at 7pm pacific, just brilliant. But, for you to help me realize that THIS is THAT 3rd song from NIHIL, wow.
Great review, we thoroughly enjoyed the movie last night and sang every song.

My wife and I went yesterday and she loved it. She could not stop talking about it after we left and I even heard her telling a friend on the phone how much she liked it. At one point during the movie she told me she loved Papas hair and I had to tell her it was only a mask. As for me, it was awesome being a Ghost fan for a while now. I am not into all the lore, just the music and the awesome show and always love the masks but I understood what was going on, it was a basic story line and they set it up well at the opening. I was never confused or felt like I wasn't able to follow along and really, it was just filler for the real meat which is the music for me. My wife and I had a blast.

I absolutely love this movie so much! It's the Best Concert film I've seen it as a ghost fan it so good I love that they actually did not allow the audiences to use their phones to record because I feel like that could give away the experience you're Rite Here Rite Now! The songs were so good people in my theater especially in costume some were nuns others were Nameless Ghouls and Papas I was in makeup of course as Papa 4 being there with the ghost fans was an amazing experience and I loved it so much we were all singing and clapping it felt like we were actually there in that concert which made it even more fun and exciting I love this movie so much and I'm hoping it'll get a physical release on Blu-ray and DVD because this movie definitely deserves to be on the big screen and for people at home who want to watch it you're gonna want to start dancing!

Saw it 2 days ago, fiancé and I loved it, great concert and agree it was really well captured. Really makes you appreciate how amazing Ghost songs are too, so many amazing riffs, melodies and hooks. Can't wait for a Blu Ray release so I can watch it, rite here, Rite Now!

@@ellabella6099I loathe long movies, but this didn't seem long at all. I enjoyed every second and it could have even been longer and I would have been really happy too. I am thrilled I got to see it at the theater! I loved it.

I have, that's like the Tier 0 for concert movies, this is either around as good as that, or just a hair under it.

Amazing how so many of the songs hit differently in the context of Papa's dilemma.
That’s really what I was struck by. The structure of the setlist hits harder with that context.
Everyone in the cinema screamed at the last second of the movie when the curtains closed. Lol
Same with my theater, the anticipation was killing us, and it'll keep on killing us!

I just got home from watching it, unbelievable. Just like the gig i went to, i was sad that it ended.
Sad that it ended, but it was a beautiful experience.

The film was an incredible experience.
It was fantastic! It is definitely made for fans that love the lore and I love the scooby doo chase scene as it shows that Tobias accepts the scooby doo music label. It was a real treat for Ghost fans that have not had a chance to go to a ritual.

I thought it was a very interesting twist that Sister Imperator did not leave Nihil once he cheated, but took the opportunity to manipulate him into getting her pregnant so she could start the next line of Papas. it's possible that's not quite what they were getting at, but the whole scene ending really read as a possible curse or other magic that manipulated Nihil, since the shot choice made it look like he didn't know where he was when he woke up in the motel room with Imperator leaving. It really recontextualizes a lot of Nihil's music if that's what they were implying, and makes Imperator all the more sinister and cunning.

Tobias is a genius. He decided that since some joke about Ghost sounding like Scooby Doo chase music, he would put an animated chase scene in the movie. Even funnier is the fact that it's set to Mary on a Cross. Gives a whole new perspective to the lyrics "And the truth of the matter is, I never let you go..." Right. Because he's literally chasing after her!
Going to see it again tonight! It is an amazing movie
Overall a big thumbs up from me, with one reservation: I thought there was a dearth of the Ghost fan community reflected in the movie. When you go to the concerts the vibe is great. There is a very high proportion wearing Ghost merch and many dressed up for the event in various Papal regalia. A great example is the video for "Life Eternal" (though the fans were the primary focus in that one of course). But even in typical live videos they show fans more, (see Mary On a Cross). Yes there are some fans in this movie but it also seemed like they may have repeated a few. Everyone wants to direct, of course, and my wife and daughter disagree with me on this so you might too, but for a first-time viewer I think they may not get a part of the experience of a Ghost concert that I find really special about them.
I was at the concert, and I'd say that it accurately represented the front couple rows of people in the pit. It's hard to get everyone on camera when you've got a crane like they did.
@@HunterBoldingVideo Yes, I was there too. A couple handheld cameras outside say before the show or around the arena during the show would have been easy enough. Just adding more color to the event. But again, a minor quibble.

I would venture to say before September 20th, and perhaps before end of summer.
They have to know that EVERY SINGLE Ghost fan will want their own DVD, so that's perhaps why only a few nights at the theaters then boom, straight to getting the different sets right.
Blu Ray, regular, 4k, Blu Ray with a shirt, Blu Ray with live CD and Download..etc
I LOVED this film! I haven’t seen them live yet so, this is as close as I’m gonna get for now. ALSO! I have some suspicions about the new lore revealed at the end! I don’t want to spoil it but I want to hear if any other ghost fans share the same ideas about what the ending after the credits mean!?

Just got back from the cinema, was fantastic. Some of the skits were daft, but that's Ghost.
Also the screening was pleasingly full, which for my local cinema, it usually isn't
I saw it yesterday and i loved it. I cried at what happend with sister imperator. But im proud of copias promotion. I listened to the new song before the seeing the movie and didnt cry. But when i heard it during the credits i cried

Can't wait! So I might be crazy but my 3 year old son is obsessed with Ghost so I got him a ticket also. He's still a little too young for a live show so I figured this is the next best thing. Is there anything wildly inappropriate in it?
If you're okay with a 3 year old listening to Ghost, there won't be anything exceptionally offensive in this movie, no.
There's a little bit of swearing but I think that's about it. As someone who had a woman with three young children sitting next to her during my session, please teach him movie etiquette. The movie goes for about two and a half hours and the entire time I was trying to enjoy it, these three kids were constantly talking loudly/rolling around on the floor/jumping around on the chairs. Just overall being so distracting and had no interest in watching the movie and the mother did nothing to reprimand them. I think it's fantastic that your son is sharing your interest in Ghost and what a fantastic experience for him, just keep in mind it's a long movie and try and have some sort of backup if he starts to get antsy.
@@twotwistedcrowns it's good to here there's nothing too inappropriate, thanks for replying. My son is very well behaved and well mannered, he is quite shy really. I've booked premiere seats so there's plenty of room if I need to bring him out just in case. I always have it in mind that he might disturb others in general when it comes to certain situations. Part of the reason why I asked. If he sits through it all then it's a nice step forward in his development as a toddler. I'll make sure we won't ruin anyone's experience. If he wants out, we're out.

I've seen all the music videos, but not the live album, I have to get on that one. I love Queensryche.

As some one that was there, did he perform “if you have Ghost” and did he bring out the dancers in skeleton suits? I was surprised that no body leaked concert footage of that before this movie came out or at least that I hadn’t seen it and wonder if those parts were staged then edited into the concert footage
Phones were taken at those shows so no footage could be leaked
@@Ghost015 great idea - they should do this at every concert - I noticed while I was watching the movie that nobody in the crowd had a phone... the way concerts all used to be before 2007
They had everyone in the crowd put their phones in magnetically sealed pouches, so no one could film anything. It was a magnificent concert experience not having dummies filming the entire thing in front of me.

It was bloody amazing. The best movie I have seen in ages. Papas pain was so real, I will miss him solo much 😢😢😢. But at least he is not dead. The new guy, well he better have big balls to be even as good as Papa IV.

I thought the singing was just the album overlayed on to the footage.
It just sounded too good.
It definitely wasn't just the studio tracks overlayed, but bands touch up vocals on live albums every time.
I'm pretty sure the film has the complete setlist. I know the soundtrack cuts out 5 songs but the film is complete.
I was mistaken, I somehow misremembered them playing From The Pinnacle To The Pit.

They played all the songs I usually just skip over.. the one song I wanted to year zero I missed because I was drinking a spiked drink and I had to go to the bathroom... No Elizabeth or lasciviois but it was cool to watch..

I've seen them in concert and they really do sound good and put on a great show.. was kind of hoping for more skits and back stage antics.. but it was still a lot of fun and I got the popcorn bucket.. gonna make a cool trash can for my van. Put it under the ghost lithograph I got from one of their shows...

Great concert, not a great concert movie.
I loved the movie but I disagree on the editing. I thought the cuts were too quick and not enough views of the whole band, too many tight upclose shots. The editing style gave the vibe of someone on an 8 day coke binge. I get that fast frenetic style is in vogue but made it hard to watch in some parts.

I really liked the ghoul's stage energy during the show, but I was disappointed in the lack of shots of their shenanigans since that's such a huge part of the fandom's interest. we love the ghouls and that "YouSuck" moment was great!! we just needed more of that! the shots were definitely a bit frantic at times, but knowing that this was made independently with Tobias heading the way made me feel like this was the energy he wanted you to feel. maybe he just overdid it a bit in his effort to really put you in the crowd from your theater seat.
The first few cuts in I noticed this and was like wtf? If it continued I must have gotten used to it but it was noticable in the early on.
The movie had too many close ups and camera cuts imo. I would have liked more wide shots. There is too much happening to be that close all the time. Still a blast though!
I think for a band like Ghost you want the closer shots to get the details of Cardi and the Ghouls outfits. But a fair point.
Am I the only one that didn't really like it. I want it to be more about the lore than concert footage. Like you can add a little bit of concert footage but not the whole movie. I just wanted more of the lore and papa c being awkward as hell
All the cinematography in the world can't make up for the fact that Ghost sucks shit.

I am fan of them almost one year&I know some things and this Ghost movie was amazing! I cant wait to see them live one day&also I cant wait for the home version to see it at my home again…it was cool and I love it🥹❤️🤭
