Thanks Joe, glad you're enjoying this series. Yeah, Monibeong definitely wasn't set up as well as other campsites with toilets much further away and bore water instead of tank. Not the tastiest stuff to drink. 😝
Phew, sand and wind... two of my least favourite hiking factors. Well done getting into camp so early, those shelters are awesome when you've had a day like that (assuming the wind isn't coming from the wrong direction) . Day 10 sounds like a ripper 😳... not. Great editing by the way, loved the fast forward through the dunes to the music swoosh at 1:34 particularly!
Thanks Amy! That day was crazy with the wind. Made it a real challenge with filming and I'm amazed I managed to get enough footage to make a video. It is always nice having those shelters to arrive to and the two walls always face south and west which deals with the prevailing winds down there really well, although there was a strong northeasterly one morning which made cooking brekky a bit of an endeavour! Thanks for the feedback on the editing too. I did like that beach approach bit too. 😊
Thanks Mathew! Glad that you're enjoying the series and I can highly recommend the GSWW. I absolutely loved it and it's surprising that it's still not a really well-known hike as it's an absolute gem. Feel free to ask if you're looking for any tips or advice about this hike and thanks for watching!
Yeah, was certainly a challenge trying to film that day. Glad it was a tailwind at least. Would have been twice as hard walking into a headwind at those wind speeds.
Hello.. i have been watching each video and luvin them. i am heading out on the GSWW in August 2021 if all goes well with all the crazy at the moment. Would you mind letting me know what day you hit the sand, i am looking at the tide times for Aug 2021 and the high tide seems to be around 1-2pm so not too sure if i will be able to make it off the sand in time, i was wondering what the tide times were like for you in comparison.. i am a pretty slow walker.. look forward to hearing back from you, if you are happy to provide the information. cheers Lesa
Hi Lesa. Thanks so much and glad to hear you're enjoying the series. Fantastic to hear that you'll also be doing the GSWW! I started on the beach section at the beginning of December. With the tide times, I ended up just checking them a few days out from when I was due to start the beach section and that was fine. There are obviously two low and two high tides each day so your start time will be determined by when the tide is going towards its low point. I was pretty lucky with low tides being about 9am and 9:20am respectively on the two days so I just aimed to get on to the beach around 45 mins before the low tide time so I maximised the time before it was due to reach high tide which was around 1pm on both days. Hope that helps and happy to provide any more information if you want to message me on Instagram (link on the About page on my channel).
Awesome video 😍😍😍
Thanks!

1st camp without a tank too which was interesting.....the bore water was less than enjoyable 🤣 Enjoying the series 👍👍 Great walk.

Sounds like the right move to take the inland track and avoid some of the wind. :)
Yes, glad I had the option on that particular day. Certainly sheltered me a bit from the gales along the beach.
You weren't kidding about the wind!
Solid day doing 20km+ through all that

Im always thinking about rain and sometimes forget wind can be just as annoying!!
Fortunately there was only a little bit of rain at the start of that day. Pouring rain as well that day would have made it quite the challenge!

Hi Leo. Fortunately it's only about 20 years but time has still gone so fast!
