What an explosive episode, Both Galomite and Rune C4.

Gale will now have a new ability on his quickbar that can be used in any combat. Just, at any time. Don't do what I did and click it out of curiosity. At least, you know, not without saving first. :)

If one attacks Elminster and manages to win, his body will melt into a puddle of water. Also, if you inspect him the creature type will say construct.
That's right, Elminster sent a simulacrum to find Gale instead of going himself. And yet he complains about having to walk and only having rainwater to drink.
    Freaking Elminster!😆

33:34 Silly Larian. You hammer home many many times to players that the tadpoles are a serious threat and you'd only have a few days before you suffer debilitating side effects, many are going to think there's an actual time limit and consequently not long rest unless they absolutely have to. And they only have certain events trigger on long rests so you get an example like this were the game assumes conversations happened that haven't actually happened yet.

Good ol' ludonarrative dissonance. "Oh no, we could change into mind flayers at any time! We better fix this ASAP. Let me just go complete all these unrelated side quests and spend several days long resting because I want to see what story events trigger before I go look for a solution."

Gandalf the Crimson really loves his words. Very dramatic.

44:04 So close but no cigar Lae'zel. I do find it interesting neither Shadowheart or Lae'zel think Gale being asked to sacrifice himself by his God is something he should do or an honor of any sort. At the moment I doubt the both of them would be capable of saying so if it was their own God that asked the same of them.

It was hilarious how Elminster couldn't not talk in sweeping prose.

Gale now has the detonator for his chest nuclearbomb. 💣
And if something happens to Scratch he gets to push it.

Your wish will be granted in Act Two. Barcus becomes a vendor, and quite an amazing one. At least, for me and my style of play.

That does make me wonder of Elder Brithvar is intended to show up again later down the line too, since he was also marked as a Tier 2 (or Act 2?) vendor.
I suppose that might actually be the intent of the roman numeral on their trading symbol. To indicate which Act you can actually trade with them in.

You should give Shadowheart the idol of Shar. There's a number system at work that triggers major events later in the game. No spoilers.

I'm thinking about it, but it does feel weird. Like I'm reinforcing her Shar Worship, when all the signs seem to be indicating I should really be kind of discouraging it instead.

@@RetconRaider Be supportive and patient. Show compassion. Which she's never been shown before. It helps... later. No spoilers!

@@RetconRaiderBased on what Kudzu is saying, I’m guessing it’s a trust thing. You have to show Shadowheart that your advice isn’t because you have a problem with Sharran worship, but rather because you genuinely want to help her. You have to clear any doubts that you are just someone else trying to manipulate her.
Another way of looking at it - she needs to realize there’s a problem before she can start genuinely improving her situation. Trying to force it may make her antagonistic towards you or cause only a temporary improvement at best, and at worst hurt future attempts at helping because her trust in you has been broken. Wait for the right moment, basically.
I do wonder what’s the right balance though - you are right to worry that indulging her will cause further harm. Maybe let her do her worship, but express your worry when she wants to do something that might be really bad for her / hurt someone else?

Regarding your comments on the writing, setting etc, I would have to agree for how well its been done. Its been ages since I last cast my mind in Forgotten Realm's direction - IIRC it would be the Spelljammer novels (the Cloakmaster Cycle), so not exactly the best of places to end it on. ;-) Other games have had my attention since then.
I admit though, (and somewhat ironically), that its been a review of the various Drow interactions in the game that finally had me earmark it for later. One in particular (later down the line, so not mentioning yet), but in general racial interactions have been very on point. Sometimes painfully so, but I admit that's added to my interest, rather than shy away from it.

You can take the gondola to the monastery. The Gith use it to ferry raiding parties to and fro.

I mean, I'd be tempted to further explore that, but have been warned that - while some might claim otherwise - pretty much all the romance paths are exclusive.
And I don't want to make Karlach sad.

In fact, it was Elminster who summoned these Death Shepherds. He walked from the Shadow Lands in search of Gail and came across a showdown between low-level cultists of the Absolute and young Gith, and summoned a bunch of powerful undead to kill everyone. But realizing that such terrible necromancy did not fit with his image of a light magician, he wrote a note saying that a low-level warrior of the Absolute had summoned the undead. Well, he stood nearby, wondering where Gail and his friends might be hanging out. That's when Orrick came across him.🤪

Yeah, I often would go as long as possible between long rests in my single player campaign, and its possible to miss out on content with how they tied many events to resting, I think that's why Astartion suddenly started blurting about Cazador, you went too far past that flag and it went to the next one.
It might be a good idea to just chain long rest before you use any buffs or potions, its a bit of a waste of food, but I think its better than missing a character or story event.

No offense to Larian. It's sad that the state of gaming is such that "not full of game breaking bugs on release" has become something we praise instead of expect by default.

Honestly, it's a bit of a weird situation with western CRPGs in particular, because even "classic" CRPGs were plagued with those sorts of issues dating 30 years back.
Like, I love the classic Fallouts, the original BG games, Neverwinter Nights, etc, but a lot of those were also notoriously broken and/or unfinished on launch. :)
It just seems to be a tough genre in general, since its such a high-effort kind of game aimed at a very niche audience.

6:18 It's funny in BG1&2 I didn't find Elminster annoying I could speedread his dialogue with ease and it never took me longer than it did for any other NPC. Now though with an actual voice and a cadence of meandering, slowly talking and needlessly overly verbose omg he's annoying. Brevity doesn't exist in his vocabulary evidently lol.
