I’ve had this watch for a year now, I’ve gotten used to winding it every morning when I get up. The first thing I did when I wound it up was count how many times it took to wind the mainspring to full charge. After a few months of ownership you get a feel for how much you need to wind it by feel. The guys who complain of it being faulty are the ones cranking that crown without any regard.
Thanks for taking the time and actually showing the winding process. So many people have complained but I know it’s probably because they “jacked it”. This is a rough and tough watch but the winding requires a more “gentle” man :-)
That happened to my mainspring. You could hear the mainspring violently unwind after about 6 or 7 winds after about 2 weeks of getting it. I was a gentle winder. Jomashop repaired it with no problems for free, it just took about 2 months to get it back. It works great now. Love it.
I agree that a brushed or satin finish would have suited the watch better. The blasted finish is ‘confusing’ when coupled with faux patina. Thanks for the fun review!
Mine is arriving tomorrow on the leather nato, hard choice between the black and white especially since I have the black dial islander field watch, but in the end went with black for this too :)
Mate I suggest you look at the Heimdallr Trident Hommage I heard few good things about that watch + there aren't many reviews on it so you'd be one of the first
This watch has been on a list of future watches I'd like to own for a while now, but for some reason, others keep jumping the line in front of it. Maybe one day, if I come across a deal I can't pass up.
Great review, love the intro! The KFM has been on my list since it came out. I'm a fan of the vintage aesthetics, but the low WR rating, long lugs and mainspring issue have stopped me from pulling the trigger. Still can't take my eyes of it though, thanks for the hand winding tip.
The fact that they want you to know it was in that movie makes me want it a little less to be honest. Aside from that it’s iconic enough to be pretty rad regardless of my appreciation. Good vid man!
I had mine for a year and two months. Woke up this morning and it was not moving. After winding it up some it was ticking again. Later I decided to take a chance and really wind it and realized that I had been winding it to an assumed pressure point which means I had been under winding it all this time. Well duh, I guess I know better now. BTW, I hate nato straps and had it replaced with a nicer leather band that matches 👉🤓👈 me!
This watch belongs on a Nato, imo. So selling it on one is logical. My only gripe is the delicate (non-washable) leather parts and the lack of fold-over. Imo they should have just sourced some really high end traditional nato straps.
Good review Chris. This one is on my wish list for later this year. Considering the cost, cheaper alternatives are the Bulova Hack Watch (often on sale for half price) and the Timex MK1 Mechanical. They are also Man Watches. Cheers
If you have to be careful when winding doesn't it detract from its supposedly field watch uses. If the movement is so fragile, I wouldn't buy it as a field watch given it's price tag.
Not a criticism of you but everyone says only 50 meters of water resistance I wouldn't risk swimming with it, I don't know about you but I'd guess the most I've dived under water without Tanks is maybe 8/10 meters so why can't you swim with it?
I think overhyped movement too. How is this a "workhorse" when this and the automatic version break by winding it? If it was a japanese movement, ppl would go nuts on it but since it's a swiss movement, they find reasons why that is ok. :/ I still like this watch a lot tho.

Thanks for the comment. How did you proceed with jomashop?
I think this is such an iconic piece for the price point. I like the design, it looks really good.

Seeing half your face "over the fence" remind me of the neighbour in Home Improvement! ;-)
One of my favorite shows!
Wilson 😂
I love this watch, I have both versions, both 38 mm, one with a date window. The lume on non date alot better!

So, that intro...Very nice. I enjoyed that. Still waiting to get a Hamilton. None in my collection.

Great intro, great review and I love my khaki!!
LOL great video as always this is one of my all time favorite watches!
Thanks man!
This watch was actually used in a a few movies, Mostly law enforcement characters. I think it was used in Cold creek manor movie and a few others.
Great review! I just ordered one. I will follow your tip and not gorilla wind it.

Thanks! Yeah its a weird marketing ploy.

Something around 103 half turns to wind it. If anyone is wondering!
Brushing a Shetland pony? Wtf? Too funny! Great review.
Is the watch still working? Any problems with the watch?
It is still working. No problems yet!
@@watchmegobroke4365 Thanks for the update.
I really want to know how that watch survives a shooting. Many watches don't withstand recoil.
Don t risk..do not wind it to the full
How do know when to stop winding it before it's full?
I'm like you. Love the watch. Hate the nato so getting the bracelet
Good review Chris.

Take look eg to the glycine combat,,eta movement saphir, thin profile, ok offers on the internet
@@rikgroenevelt9395 But is that Glycine a less than 40mm diameter watch?
@@CanadianBeachcomber no 42 indeed’wears smaller btw
Smaller due to smaller lug to lug diistance hanilton rather bijg lug to lug 50 i think

It’s a stellar movement. Highly accurate. Mine is +/- 1 sec a day. It’s marvelous!!!!!
