Whereas the futuristic aspect was really something back then, perhaps on par w/ Space 1999, the whole notion of confused computer=entire city pitches over into ceaseless explosions left me credulous at best, second time seeing it it was hard eye-rolls time! Just because the municipal control system got confused or confounded doesn’t mean everything goes kabluwey, that’s just bad writing even a 9 y/o could see right through
I love this film. With the exception of one scene, Logan's Run is a great story. That scene is the hologram interrogation of Logan by the computer (How can the "There is no sanctuary" logic cause the computer to malfunction?).
Because the dome cities were Sanctuary. The people that ran, were going nowhere, even before the system broke down. It was self-sustaining for the first 100 years, but then the people in charge got complacent. The Sandmen were supposed to be the government, but they got lazy, and soon you got Logan's run. The people didn't realize that they had become cannibals, and that the system no longer functioned as designed.

Yaaayyy! No old people. Except me.
I miss when films were like this
I came here because I just found out. The book's author passed away this year
Aaaaand you just watched the entire movie. Warning: if you haven’t seen this movie, this video summarizes the entire plot and discloses the ending.
It didn't show whether Logan lives or not. Other than that, yeah, it gives basically the whole movie.
I wouldn't mind swimming with Jenny Agutter
I fully agree.
Poorly selected scenes. It only works if Jenny Agutter is in every one of them.
“Box”
Needs more Farrah
Some of Farrah's lines were cut out of the theatrical release. Here is a reconstruction of her complete scene in the New You:

That music is from “Ice station Zebra” like no old heads would know this
Wow. They really give away a lot of the ending!
To the sound track of Ice Station Zebra…
This preview gave the whole story away. Did they show this in the cinema at the time before it's release? If you'd never seen the movie and first watched this preview, you already know the whole story. Now that's what I call a spoiler :D
EDIT: Ah, I understand reading the comments that this was not a regular trailer, but was meant to represent the whole movie as much as possible in a few minutes. In that case they did a good job! :)
You could try reading the lengthy explanation below the video, but I guess that was too hard for you.
@Atlas King Or you could have read my whole comment instead of only the first part, but I guess that was too hard for YOU. :D
4:27 she struggles to maintain the films rating by adjusting costume.
Ok, so the 23rd Century in San Francisco is Star Fleet head quarters, while Washington DC is in ruins. That works, except how come Kirk never mentions the domed areas?
because he would get DOMEstic abuse?
soz ill leave right noo ;-)
As you're watching the seven minutes and something seconds of this video have you noticed the music it's from the movie called Ice Station Zebra.?
I would say the narrator in this is Peter Thomas (1924-2016)
I can't post a link here, but he has a wikipedia entry.
Thanks for the info!
OMG! I thought all that footage of Francis killing the runner in the open was totally lost! people have tried to recreate it with stills on here etc.
Francis enjoyed his job.
clearly, in such a scenario the government wouldn't have any pension budgeting issues
The film is the epitome of what it takes for socialism to work, kill the sick and let no one live past 30.
The opening music theme is actually taken from "Ice Station Zedbra " ( 1968 ) starring Patrick Mcgoohan 🤔?
Nice how they copped the theme music from Ice Station Zebra.
Hey, thanks! Don't need to go see that film now!
Boy, they really spoiled the ending, didn't they?
And where are the bits of cut material? I did not notice anything new, other than the scene where Francis "retires" the runner.
the neon love sign with the obvious vag hit the cutting room floor with no panties lol
and a few shots of the models which were not in the film
that's all i got. damned panties!
You guys I saw this in the theatre, during a tornado warning in Cheyenne, Wyoming, it was understaffed there for obvious reasons; so I could get away with sitting through it a couple of times.
Whereas the futuristic aspect was really something back then, perhaps on par w/ Space 1999, the whole notion of confused computer=entire city pitches over into ceaseless explosions left me credulous at best, second time seeing it it was hard eye-rolls time!
Just because the municipal control system got confused or confounded doesn’t mean everything goes kabluwey, that’s just bad writing even a 9 y/o could see right through
23 century 🧐
I fucking love this movie!
Awesome work!
Would they ever remake this awesome story…
I'm sure I saw Ron Moss as one of the extras.
A year later, Star Wars.
Good movie
The guy with the cubs looks like Leo Sayer.
I really liked this movie when I was a kid. Of course, it was a metaphor for those aging Boomers who were told to never trust anyone over 30. Jenny was awesome
Very cool.
Deserving of a new adaptation perhaps following the books more closely, no domed city just the whole world to run in and death (not rebirth) at 21.
Or how about releasing a "marathon" edit of the original that reinstates all of the deleted footage.
The masks in Carousel are meant to be a shocking reveal. They shouldn't have shown it in an advance preview.
It's not a preview. It's a promo reel. Meant for Theater owners etc.
Even back then the trailers showed the whole movie
This wasn't a trailer .. it was the preview shown to theater owners ...
Ice Station Zebra theme music.
