I did see a Southern Railway in steam in this style, but it had 2 Norfolk Southern locomotives afterwards it had a few former Norfolk and Western passenger cars and Southern Railway passenger cars running through Harrisburg NC in 2012 a few months before me and my late mother moved to kannapolis
@@JaiahHazelnutBrown I'm familiar with stretch braking, since that is how we are taught. But done under normal circumstances, even a 20# reduction in an emergency situation, would not lock the wheels like an emergency application can do. Many of the old streamliners, particularly on the original Cal Zephyr, had Westinghouse HSC electropneumatic anti-lock brakes with anti-slide device that would prevent wheel lock in emergency applications. In an emergency application, the brakes would be pulsed very rapidly to prevent them locking.
I believe that was one of the first big outings for 6604 out on the mainline and they had the brakes hang up early on in the trip. The wheel got fixed once it was back home at the shop.
amazing shots of this train moving!!!

Never seen 630 this fast, wonder if on board it's just as smooth as at 15 on the MRL at TVRM?
Jacob Woods it’s smoother because it’s on welded rail.
Chattanooga Proud !
27:16 Polar Express esque shot. 👍
I'm guessing the end car doesn't have anti-lock brakes. Quite a square wheel going on there!
Thurlow B. Weed wheels slide sometimes, especially on passenger equipment because stretch braking is the smoothest braking technique.

Did anyone know that the diesel that replaced 630 on the ET&WNC is now a part of TVRM’s collection
Yes.
How fast was she going when you paced her on the highway?
Tyler Stein about 50.
@@JaiahHazelnutBrown actually 40
@@kingofthemonsters3712 was actually 50.
Norfolk southern has limited steam engines to 40 mph since the great dismal swamp derailment in 1986
@@kingofthemonsters3712 was still closer to 50.
