A high hood ride in an historic 1864 Civil War battlefield area... fantastic! That turn table tour was fun and their power collection is amazing. Whiteside tunnel, what an incredible place and story. Salute to the crew and volunteers.
Great vid! Dave Johnston was a trainmaster over where my grandpa and I live here in Sheffield Alabama. My grandpa was a MOW worker from 1971 to 2011 and talked to Dave on a daily basis. Dave retired from NS about 4 years ago and moved up to chattanooga and now works happily at TVRM!
I love tvrm and all the southern equipment still being used and maintained. I have been to the tvrm many times and have been on the missionary ridge Train several times!
Took this trip today. Really enjoyed it. Not really the best way to really see the scenery and especially the tunnel. Thanks for the perspective of the cab shots. Really helps one appreciate the tunnel.
Nice video Drayton! This is a great train ride with lots of history associated with it. I enjoy when you gives us a history lesson of the railroad or rail line that you are documenting.
I’ve been to the tvrm to ride the Summerville excursion train and I saw the 2594 running back to the yard because I got there pretty early and I rode behind the 4501 which was pretty cool seeing a steam locomotive still burning coal
Great video. As normal for DIB! I was fortunate and got to drive 2601 a few years ago at the NC Transportation Museum as a birthday present from my wife. What a beautiful and classic Geep.
I met a friend of mine in person for the first time at tvrm back in 2018 and it's always a joy to see how that museums doing. Currently I'm up here at the Dalton train platform but I'm like the only one here XD.
Well, I have no idea about the chanel it is the only video I have watched and found excellent as it also preserves the wild west history, and one can visualize the extent one could. Hope it remains.
Have you guys ever thought of covering some upstate NY lines? There’s a lot of great scenic railroads operating on former d&h and Penn central owned branch lines.
My wife and I recently enjoyed a trip on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad in Bryson City NC. The trip took us to the Nantahala Outdoor Center and back, with lunch served along the way. As we approached the Bryson City terminal on the return trip, the guide on our car informed us that the turntable used to rotate the locomotive was hand turned by three men. That must really be a low friction bearing on that turntable.
Gosh I love me my high hoods😍😍they have to be my favorite type of locomotive. I’ve never actually been to TVRM but I would LOVE to go someday. Amazing video as always Drayton.
Excellent video! High hood diesels have a sort of character to them. Also, what happened to K&T 10? I saw it’s tender just off the right of way. I got to ride in 710’s cab and the draft through the tunnel nearly blew my hat off my head.
Thanks for posting this video. I enjoyed it. The first turn out at the beginning of the video wasn't aligned for the train, I'm guessing it is a spring loaded switch that can slide over?

A battlefeild area? Ive never knew that!
I have so many fond childhood memories at the TVRM! And I am happy to continue the educational tradition with my children!

What a beautiful old GP30. Nothing quite like the low frequency rumble of that turbo V16!
I love tvrm and all the southern equipment still being used and maintained. I have been to the tvrm many times and have been on the missionary ridge Train several times!
Excellent footage. Interesting history on the tunnel. High hoods for the win.
I noticed they ran through a switch getting underway. I assume it was either a spring switch or a Racor self-aligning switch.
A very nice Southern GP30! Absolutely love those locomotives!
October 20, 2018 we rode the 4501 8 hour excursion to Sandersville and back. Loved EVERY SECOND of the ride. Absolute enjoyment !!
Took this trip today. Really enjoyed it. Not really the best way to really see the scenery and especially the tunnel. Thanks for the perspective of the cab shots. Really helps one appreciate the tunnel.
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed the train ride. TVRM is great.
Nice video Drayton! This is a great train ride with lots of history associated with it. I enjoy when you gives us a history lesson of the railroad or rail line that you are documenting.
Awesome video! I was actually in a Southern GP38 High-Hood at the Colebrookdale RR (PA). They let us in the cab to film / explore.
Another great video! LOVE all your work, the narration is the BEST part! BLESSINGS your way, for another PROFESSIONAL RR Video!
Dang that’s a tight fit in the tunnel, SWEET CAB RIDE you took me on, TYVM
I just went to their 60th anniversary this past weekend. Southern 4501 and 630 were pulling the local all weekend. TVRM is such a great place.

An Undertaker is watching from Alabama.
5:00 time to go to the NAPA Auto Parts store for some new windshield wipers! :)
Excelente video.
Great video Drayton. Love your content
That tunnel clearance is crazy close. I would love to be able to take my oldest son to TVRM.

Wow Great video!
Great video as always Drayton, thank you. Now we just need you to have @scaletrains make the Southern GP30 as their first four axle diesel :)

Great video by my standards!
hey great video and the history to im going to the Tennessee valley railroad museum soon!! can you ride in the cab would they let you
Yes, you can! Just ask for a cab ride ticket when you get there.
Being an Engineer on those high hoods musta been frustrating as hell
What steamer was that in the shop?
Hi I am a Railfan in New Zealand I video Kiwi Rail trains in New Zealand.
Wasn't this video posted a few years back?
Interesting that the famous GP30 Hunchback does not extend onto the high hood
Thanks for posting this video. I enjoyed it. The first turn out at the beginning of the video wasn't aligned for the train, I'm guessing it is a spring loaded switch that can slide over?
I saw that too. Looks like they ran a switch
Around the 1:10 mark, wasn't that the foamer in the Clinchfield video?
No. You must be thinking of Cleetus!
What was that lower bridge used for at 3:24
Awesome video! But I have a question: How did you get to the tunnel by foot?
I walked.
HORN GP30

@@jamesgeorge9167 ok no wonder it looked familiar I've been there lol but I didn't know that was the name
Thanks for the video
@@official_adan No Problem
Why reupload this video. It was already here on UA-cam.
The narration in the first version was absolute trash. That’s why.
Are you still making train videos
I mean, I did post this video a couple days ago… So no, I’m definitely not making train videos anymore.
LOOK AHEAD
Didn’t even mention the 610 😞
