Good call on Vince Vaughn. I’d choose a different Vincent, Vincent Dnofrio. He’d kill it.

Found you guys a few hours ago after reading The Landlady by Roald Dahl and wanting to hear a literary analysis. Subscribed and clicked the bell not long after.
Bit of a story here but back in high school when I first read Of Mice and Men, I was pretty captivated by it until I got to the last page (may have been the last two pages can't quite remember) and was super confused. I was like 'Wait what are they talking about? Did something happen?' Turned out, I accidentally skipped over a few pages due to friction putting smashing the paper together and completely missed Lennie's death.
After I got the full story, I was pretty devastated so I was fighting the supreme urge to cry in my English Lit. class. That also happened when I read The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton except I was in Photography Class. Still surprised 15+ years later that no one noticed at either time. I'd say maybe they were too polite to point it out, but this was high school. xD

Oof! Interesting to have you miss some pages. I feel that too depending on the type of page and age of book. I tend to have less problems with that on older books.

It sounds strange to hear someone say that they were forced to read " Mice and Men."

I was SO convinced George was gonna die and Lennie was gonna starve himself waiting for George at the bush. (also I'm drinking diet coke:p)

I was traumatized by this in high school. It turned me off of Steinbeck until just a few years ago when I read East of Eden. (Which I loved.) It's probably one of those things where if I re-read it now, I would have much more appreciation for it. Youth really is wasted on the young!

Haha, yeah. The stigma of assigned reading can really kill a lot of great works/authors for students. It's funny to me you mention East of Eden brought you back as SO many people have mentioned that. I have just recently picked it up for a dollar. Hoping to sneak it into the schedule at some point.
