Ryan Pandolfi we switched to the self tap because of the ease of drilling without the plastic backing out like you see in the video. The self rappers are made for plastic and not metal. These ones don’t strip the ABS.
is there any way to make this work with the current door? As in something where the button still works. Seems like the cap would work with button easily. also, whats with the huge overlap seen at 7:20? why does'nt the top part cover the mounting ring? For 100$ this thing better look perfect.
As gas siphoning crime sprees aren't making much headlines it sounds like something that, even if it did happen, is exceptionally rare and not worthy of being paranoid over. Sugar in the gas tank by a vindictive ex? Now that's something to worry about. Besides, a lock only keeps an honest person away.
@@hydranthydrocram1117 Hell the 2019 doesn't even have a gas cap. You push the panel and it opens and it has just the spot you put your pump in with a self seal that closes when the pump nossel is removed. Though I have though this would suck if some one was pissed off at you and wanted to mothball or sugar your tank.
So this was made to help with the problem of the gas door release getting frozen in the winter, but yet this will allow rain/ snow/ ice/ dirt/ mud into the gas cap area now.
No it won’t. They all come with a closed door. You have the option of removing the door and running it as shown in the video. The best part is the open style you are referencing is exactly how every Wrangler is sold from the dealer. Running it in the open format is proven to not have a single problem with it.
Thanks for the video, how bad does the original get stuck in cold weather? Is it that difficult to open in cold weather? That looks great but when you’re out wheeling or in inclement weather won’t debris get in their? I suggest a clear plexiglass circular cover attach to the inside.
I have a 2017 cherokee trail hawk. I live in NY near buffalo. Snow, ice and long winters are our game. I have had zero problems opening my factory fuel door.
Yes. The inner trim housing can be removed and from there you can access the hinge mechanism, and remove the swing portion. If I remember correctly, you simply push the housing in towards the center of the Jeep and twist.
@@imperius_lxxvii9999 We were supposed to film this over the past weekend but the donor Jeep had to cancel. We are looking for a new donor Jeep at the moment.
In a colder climate snow and ice may get in there, however, drain through the factory drain hole. If you look at the Jeep Wrangler, they don't even have a fuel door, and snow and ice get in there right from the factory with the identical drain hole and no issues. We sell them now with the matching black cap as a no cost option for those that want it.
@@jesselambros8520 I live near Buffalo, NY often we get snow and ice that does not melt for weeks. Snow piles up in store parking lots so high you cannot see the stores across the streets. on the wranglers they dont have anything blocking it to trap stuff in there like with your mod. Do you have a link for the closed off version ? EDIT: I found it, though not for a 2017, seems only 2019+.
You should put links to the products in the description.
And your website as well.
I like how you say you don’t use self tappers but that’s what came in my kit lol
Real easy install and hope my wife likes it got it for her birthday

Starrskream Gaming to me this looks cheap
Are there any security features on this? Looks pretty easy to get your gas siphoned
Any future versions with a lock ?
Modern cars are fitted with anti siphon systems designed inside the filler neck/entry to the tank itself.
Dakota Castrechino you can still siphon gas from a modern car

Any plans for the 19-20 satellite dish gas door?
Yes. It is designed and ready to go on the site!

So I'm not pre-drilling any holes on the install?
James Dangora no sir. The included Tapping screws get it done for you.
@@jesselambros8520 why aren't the self tappers stainless?
@@Hydjack1 not sure why you think they are not stainless.

Dennis Barnes there will be zero problem with and water or debris. A Jeep Wrangler comes without a fuel door for the last 20+ years as well.

Wouldn't spray a little wd40 in the hinges avoid any type of freeze up during winter?
You could if you want
Is there a way to remove the old door without destroying it? I’d like it to be reversible if possible.

nico hernandez unfortunately not 🙁
Same exact procedure for the 2019-20 version?
Yes
Any future versions with a lock installed ?
he has a locking gascap kit you can get
MrUnholyMaggot where at
Would be a lot cooler if there was a 2019 version. I mean if I was closer I would offer up mine for any new model conversions lol

MFC Offroad you could have my Jeep for weeks if you need it! How far are you from Southern California?
Jon Hatfield I think Texas might be a bit closer lol. I’ll prob get it some time soon. I hate having the open cap here in Houston.
I live in Colorado and never had my gas door freeze even when below zero.
CableDawg you are lucky. Many people have had this happen hence the reason this sells so well

The guys at MFC are looking at locking features in the near future I believe. Or just spend 20 bucks for locking gas cap. 🤷🏻♀️
