  • In this video we show you how to install a Mopar Fuel Filler Door on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler. This is a great cosmetic upgrade to that factory gas cap and we think it really improves the look of the jeep.
You can pick up one of these on amazon.com: amzn.to/2dRauiu
Everything I'm using on my Jeep can be found here: www.amazon.com...
The install take just under and hour and all you need is a Philips screw driver and a little motivation and it's and easy upgrade that looks great!

It’s not just a superficial upgrade. It’s important to keep that area clean. Jeeps can go almost anywhere and getting mud/dirt into your gas tank should be avoided. Thanks for the vid.

It is a really easy job if you do a couple things after removing the tail light and the gas cap.. You do not need to disconnect the tail light wiring. It is long enough to set it on the bumper. Press out the two clips on the old plastic filler assembly you can see nearest the tail light. Then you can pull out the entire assemble by pulling a little toward the back of the jeep and out. Comes our easily. The grommet will come off with it. Fit the grommet into the new assembly and add a thin coat of grease to the inside. Add a very thin coat of grease to the outside of each of the four retention clips. Line up the pin with the hole in the body and press the entire assembly in. The grease makes it very easy to install. Snaps right in place. Five minute job!

I had no idea you only had to take two screws out to take taillights off. I’ve been taking all four out 🤦🏻‍♂️

Thanks for the vid! I just ordered that door. After looking at several brands I like this one the most.
Tech tip: when you have tight fitting rubber gasket like that, spray the rubber with some 303 Aerospace protectant, wipe it down then install the gasket. The 303 revitalizes the rubber makes it stretch better and it’ll last longer. You can also Armor All if that’s what you happen to have. Personally I prefer 303. Thanks for doing these videos!

Thank you very much sir, you save my day. A friend of my offered me to stay in his vacation house and use his Jeep Wrangler with the same gas cap, it’s funny how tricky this cap looks like, I tried to open it but I can’t and don’t know which side, I never drive this kind of vehicle before with this kind of gas cap. I’m embarrassed in the gas station because I don’t know how to open it and cars behind me were waiting. So I pulled over to the gas station parking to figure out, then I search in UA-cam and I found your video, and it saves my day and embarrassment!😅
    Thank you so very much!

Thank you for the instructive video. And I read all the comments posted; thanks guys. I just installed the Mopar version on my 2016 JK. It was an easy install; following a tip to spray silicone on rubber gasket. Once the old cover was removed, I installed the rubber gasket onto the cover first (unlike the video and OEM instructions). At this point, the Mopar cover just snapped into place, very snug and no gaps. Yes the Mopar version is more expensive than the other knockoffs. Your choice. Love the look.

I've done multiple installs/swaps and I've never had to remove the rear taillight - get a small plastic tool behind a clip (find one) and carefully pry it in and out, once one is out it's simple to get the others.. saves a lot of time

Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. Your tip on the rubber "O" ring was so on point! Because I watched this video and heard your warning about the difficulty putting this on, it only took me 30-45 seconds instead of the possible much longer time that it could have taken me for the trial and error that you went through. I appreciate your efforts and videos! Keep up the great work!!

Just a couple of things to mention about the video... When removing the existing filler housing, just get one clip from the inside of the fender loose, you can then slide the housing around until the other clips release ..... no need to remove the rubber grommet or the filler cap, simply spray some WD40 or a touch of lubricant onto it and pull the filler housing out from the filler tube, it will slide very easily off of the filler tube. Now you can remove the gas cap tang with the tip of a screw driver and your fingers to remove the rubber grommet. Lube the grommet on both sides, place it onto the new housing, flare side toward outside, slide the housing over the fill tube... make sure that the pointed plastic indexing tip is directly over the hole on the left side... if it's not, it will snap off when you push the housing through the filler hole and if it does, there is nothing to keep the entire housing from turning..... Good Luck !!!

Okay I fixed my fuel door today nice and tight to the body. If you take outer ring off ( one with the fuel door ) you will see slots in the back ring. This allows to put two metal screws in housing so the slots fit over them and replace outer door with hex screws provided-and all is nice and tight, no movement !

I just put one on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited and if you put the gasket in the cover first then slowly fit it around it goes much quicker. And instead of trying to pull it out just use a blunt object and push it in then when you get the cover off it’ll save you a lot of time. I watched his video step by step and he made a mistake caused my engine light to come on and had to take it back to the retailers to see what caused the engine light to come on a new jeep. He should've fixed his mistake and put a fresh video. Causing me issues and was very pissed off due to him. What idiot puts a mistake on the video when some people prolly pausing video found step by step. He should've done the right thing. I'll never listen to this guy on anything else. Now they have to smoke it to see if issue is fixed. They even said this guy is an idiot to put this video on without proper instructions

  • @jimfalin2209
    @jimfalin2209 6 років тому

This was easy. I released the two tabs that you can see and rolled the original piece out without removing the o-ring, easy. Be cautious rolling it out because the metal surrounding the gas cap area isn't all that heavy. Putting the door/replacement in was just as easy, definitely install the o-ring on the new unit before putting it in.

Like others, the directions with pictures aren't that great, so here I am. For anyone with a JL, the LED taillights are a single, long plastic screw (10MM or torx) behind a plastic tab located behind the rear power outlet. The rubber no longer needs to be removed, the Mopar door I bought came with the rubber installed. About 3 tabs and it came right out. I loosened the two that were easy to reach first, then the lower one with a long screwdriver to reach it.

Great video! Have you ever noticed the people that DON'T have gas doors (JK Owners) want one, and people that DO have them (Cherokee Owners) don't want one. I always found that funny. Great install, I have the exact same door and had the exact same O ring issue. I found some issues with it though, after about 5 months it was badly faded, and our JK is garage kept! I don't know if I just got one with a bad finish or something, but for the price of this thing and it being a Mopar part I expected a little more durability. They wouldn't do anything about it because it had been installed(voids warrantee if you install it! LOL) and because it was 5 months old. Oh well, another awesome video!

My 2011 Wrangler has metal over the inside of the gas cap making it impossible to use your hand and move the tab located in the 10 o'clock position. I got the 2 'clock tab off first, then used a short and skinny flat screw driver and pried the other tab open from the outside. Frustrating.
