this is the best review of these trucks i have seen. i got the kit and was bummed at first knowing that there one one that was reassembled and about the same cost but after watching this i can see i made the right choice.
hey dude! thanks for watching!! The kit is definetly a better choice overall, I agree. The WPL b36 truck is even better, it's the best WPL so far. Check my channel for videos on it, the RTR model is incredible and already had all the good things you want, including metal gears.
@@hybrid32494 I Have mine assembled and have ordered a controller and speed control (things that didnt come with the kit.) i really want to try and change the gearing to something super low just by modding the stock gear box. ( im thinking like the Marlin TacoBox in real life) You think its do-able? Im sure ill end up getting metal drive shafts at some point. if you havent seen a tacobox- check out the slowest tacoma in the world. gear reduction is at 580:1
It's not so much the weight that causes the back end to bounce. It's the suspension. The two trucks have a soft suspension so if the tires let go, all that bounces is the wheel so it can regrab whereas the army truck starts bouncing and the whole truck bounces so the tires can't keep in contact enough to grab
right on about the spacers. I should have bought some spacers for mine...I too struggled with the diff gears skipping. To the list of weakness I would add the plastic gears and nonmetal driveshaft. I stripped mine with a) loose diff gear, b) too muhc power from a 2S lipo 45c.
The other issue about the driveshafts is the angle they drop from the trans to the gears. IT seems to bind a lot, you can notice when you spin one wheel with your hand, and it seems to already be locked or binding. Otherwise the u joins constantly pop on my KIT using the 2S lipo as you say.
hey dude. I tried out tracks on a different model, they suck. I gotta admit I had the wrong model and they were not mounted well. But from what I saw from other vids the tracks take alot of the motor's torque to just move. That's why they all look so slow and barely drivable when they got the tracks. Maybe your model is better, lets hope.
hey buddy!!, so have you gotten one of these so far? The RTR is really not a bad choice honestly. You can always convert the RTR to run any electronics like the kit version too. If you can get a cheap RTR first, I would do that. I started off with a cheap RTR, liked it, and eventually got another kit model..
hey buddy!! Yes, the RTR and kit have the same diffs on this model. If you ever want to upgrade the RTR you will be fine, it's the same overall. You could get a nice 180 size motor on ebay for a few bucks too. That's the main difference, the Kit has a 180 size motor, the RTR has a 130 size. Still good for the money.
I want to get one of these but I come from the 1/10th cars so can anyone explain to me what esc and receiver I need I already have a controller from a 1/10th can I use it?
hello, you can use and remote and receiver. You will need a smaller scale cheaper brushed ESC, the one I used in this video is a common one and cost 5 bucks. Very good quality and has forward brake and reverse. Check gearbest.com Ill include the line to the one I used. www.gearbest.com/multi-rotor-parts/pp_180563.html?wid=1433363
thanks man! I still have all these WPLs btw. My favorite one is the B36 URAL, because it's RTR, has proportion steering, metal gears in the diffs and comes with an ok battery. Plus the 6WD is highly realistic.
hey buddy! This chassis is setup to run at most a 180 size motor in this stock configuration. There are upgraded transmission and motor cases that come with larger can motors, so the answer is yes, but only if you get the motor upgrade kit with the housing itself.
Ohh that's interesting 🤔 was thinking of buying this cheapo kit and building it to a proper crawler. I already have the electronics but I was doubting if my 4300KV motor will fit on it. Thanks for the info. Cheers!
hey dude. get the KIT, this truck is quite good for the money especially if you like upgrades and stuff like that. Depends how much money you're looking too spend, for an entry style realistic crawler this would be ok. Ofcourse there are others that cost lots more.
yes, I saw the metal drive shafts. Let me know if you still have the diff skipping issue. It seems the plastic gears themselves have not stripped in mine, but they are just not meshing well enough. Let me know if you have the same issue with the metal parts.
hello, the kit does not come with a battery. The only electronics the kit comes with is a servo and motor. IF you get the RTR version it will come with a rechargeable battery.
I see that spacer keeping them gears tight. Really good vid bro. Gotta get all my parts in only have my c14 and b24 and need diff covers for b24 before I can build it.
Id really like to fig out a way to improve the steering geometry on the C14 kit. Have you noticed the way the steering link connects to the servo arm is not great when it is turning, causes the whole suspension to move along with it.
Have you made an axle vid yet? I tried shimming mine on my RTR and it still sounds like it's skipping. Still putting together my kit version and want to build it right the first time.
hey dude, so about the shims. It's a temporary fix, as I have learned from experience. The issue is the plastic gear is just not sitting to tight on the shaft. Either-way I got a good upgrade to fix this. Video coming soon. I got their metal diff gear set, so hopefully it will fix it all, only cost bout 13 bucks.
hello, YES, this exact RC in this video has the stock motor included with the kit. That means it's a 180 size motor. The RTR models have 130 size motors.
hey buddy!!. Proportional steering is when you turn the steering wheel on the remote and it doesn't go full LEFT - RIGHT instantly. Meaning you can do a little turn or a big turn, it is "proportional" to the way you actually steer with the remote. all hobby grade RC cars have this type f steering setup..
hello!!, YES I saw, also on gear best.com. I honestly don't like gluing the soft rubber tires, so sticking to not upgrading them on the RTR so far. But the kit I show here does have the soft tires, and they are too soft, so soft that they literally need to be glued or they just come off the rim.
You can pretty much come up with a lot of options for these, the rear is flat if you remove the tire and tire mount. That sounds like a great flat bed tow truck, if the weigh distribution is good.
hey buddy! what's up! Yes, the newer versions are much better equipped these days, this video is pretty old and back then the C14 Kit was one of the best ones you could get. Even the WPL b36 was only coming to the market back then, you know.
yep, the wiring it totally different. The stock wiring on the lights will only work with the stock RTR ESC board. Although you could solder on different connectors and just plug it in to the esc if you have a separate power lead attached.
you can use the electronics in a used servo to make a switch and control LEDs via third channel. lots of videos on it. or you can use a small separate lipo just for the LEDS or something like that.
hello, the kit is the best choice because you would only need some cheap basic electronics to make this a pretty hobby grade truck. The steering on the stock one is a disaster. You can buy the RTR and convert that one too, btw.
i've just gotten me the GAZ 66 model of these WPL's On the pictures the Kit and RTR of the Gaz look completly the same, i've ordered me an ESC so i can swap the rest of the electronics too might need to order me a Kit version of it too to see if they are different too :) (got a video of it on my chanel)
I'll check out your video!!!. The kit is different only with regard to tires and missing electronics, but servo is included. Best idea is to get the cheaper RTR models and just use your own electronics if you have them.
thx :-) i can live with the harder tires :) , allready ordered me a small ESC as everything i had laying arround is designed for 540 motors wich is pretty overkill and doesnt fit inside the Cab :D by the looks of the advert pictures only the C14 Kit got the 180 Motor. I've looked at a couple of Videos now and i guess mine came with a week battery, you can hear the motor struggeling as soon as i start steering but i dont want to kill the original electronics with a 2S lipo (i got an old Nikko RC car that could use this electronics as it's 27MHz unit is broken)
btw, you cant run a 2S lipo in the original RTR form, it won't turn on, I tried it. And yes the C14 kit does have the 180 motor, and it is more torquey, but speed is the same as the smaller RTR model. When I was mounting the motor the housing cracked a little, seems ok still. I got some cheap 180 motors on eBay with higher RPM, will try those out soon too.
Xmod Evo hey man! Thanks for watching! You have xmods? (Asking bc of your username) I used to have a few, mostly the evo models. Loved them, to bad radio shack cut the whole line. I have a video on here of a nissan titan evo model.
