Wow, I never realised the original 2018 model had non-proportional steering, and how BAD it was! Great cars after they fixed that. I have an all metal C24 upgraded to ridiculous levels, and yesterday grabbed a WPL D12 due to your videos. Thanks, and keep them coming! One of my favorite 'tube channels.
lol the suggestion on the fire for the steering..spot on...the grills warming up..hahaha. going to be a blast after much, much love..lol had that exact Tyco as a kid so yup...its got a good ways to go yet to be any type of comparison! Play, Break, Fix & Repeat! just...better...lol
The WPL RTR trucks may be intended for kids. I just don't know. Personally, I don't know why anyone would buy one. 80% of it needs to go in the vertical file cabinet. The kits though are definitely intended for adults, and moreso for those that like to tinker. At least that is who is buying them. I have a C14, and by the time I get done 3d printing and buying metal parts, the only thing that will be OEM is the body. But $35 for the body... not really a bad deal considering the detail. WPL is now selling kits with metal upgrades already. You can grab them on their new site at wpl-rc.com. Love your vids on this truck man. Keep em coming!
Oh yeah I agree. My project Lunchbox is 100% metal aftermarket parts. I did a video on the min. upgrades for a budget build and to be honest, used within it's means, it is a good option for many people. I really like them and i totally agree about the body detail!
not an easy feat for how they're side body mounted, if they were like normal toy spring shocks I'd just flipped them upside down and filled them with light grease (or Crisco even!). I'm after rods about 4 mm longer to call it good.
Hahahaha, That steering noise,, everytime You use it in the yard the Neighbours wonder when the hell is He gonna finish that dang landscaping? WPL, Mn an Co have takin a massive portion of the RC market, China has become a premium production on so many things. Our Turd Leaders still push Our best trading partner is a threat like Russia never was, ahahaha. The bodies can easily be fitted to some of the superfast models an the cheap Superstore "Toys," can be used for wheels an other parts to mod Them. Life is good for anybody into RC now, not like You need to save for an awesome Tamiya anymore Kids. Great review AMPRO.
that's gotta be a missing centrifugal clutch shoe in the steering "servo", oh so rude!! (disect it you can probably make a new pair of those so they're same size weight etc) found eBay seller and next week should have center section for the two geared 12v 300 RPM N20 motors, will cut its speed in half of course, but they're near unstoppable set up like that. stock set up, motor stalls at about 40-45 degree incline, let off throttle it rolls backwards back down, with the two N20's it wont. hope you caught my axle input shaft tip previous video, these are already kinda infamous for axle bevel gear mesh issues, better to make it good out the gate (it's pretty easy). still need to wrap front rim centers with non resin core solder and stretch electrical tape over (tiny dab of CA at the end to lock it). already seen when climbing steep their front can lose traction and steering. I'm looking to find 4 mm longer screws for replacing the stock ones with in the "shocks", and a little longer lighter springs to pop inside the bodies should be modded enough for a little more+easier articulation, it's also about as much "body lift" I'd like to see anyway. might have to lower the center "trans" section about 1/4" so U-joints less kinked, I'll see when. inexpensive as they are, I wouldn't think you need to pick up the kit version, just order the soft tires, swap in a normal receiver, the twin N20 motor setup, cheap 4 dollar 20A brushed ESC and a 2 dollar 9 gram steering servo. it'll about "be all that it can be" at that point.
model nutty the steering "servo" in these is a 130 motor that just slams into reverse or forwards then is held in place by the trim tabs that sound is the little eclectic motor cooking it's self trying to turn
gearshiv I've been inside a couple of these newer type of bang-bang steering boxes, changed motor, and putting the little plastic centrifugal clutch back together can be a minor challenge because one of the clutch shoes DO try to fall out as you're putting the bell+gear in place and trying to close the whole thing up, I know how they work.
The steering boxes in the RTRs is really bad but you seem to have got an extra crappy one. The box in my B1 seems to have full throw and decent authority compared to the one in yours. Luckily they already moulded the radio tray for a standard servo.
I bought two of these, both turned up with the transfer case ends of the driveshafts split so were undriveable. Seems like their QC is really hit and miss.
My favorite car growing up was the Nikko Turbo Aero on NiCad batteries. Thing was so fast it was awesome!! Had those 80's style spiked rear tires & skinniest up front. I need to find one in good shape & it's got to be the original in white not the crappy re-release. Lol
AMPRO Engineering - I'm not sure what year it was. It may have just been a later model. But they changed the body style slightly & instead of a white body or red. I believe the color choices were black or silver.
I just ordered the blue army truck, I'm going to gather up some sticks and play Spintires in the backyard. Has any body seen a scan of the kit instructions? I'm trying to see what size/length of screws it uses.
AMPRO Engineering That's great! Once you make one I'll be sure to buy one for my RC10! Do you plan to have it fit under the stock body? And build the wing mounts into the cage?
I like those too, but got a great deal on a mildly used Redcat Sumo 1/24. lot of fun with little mods and mounted a 1/24 Subotech truck body onto it, gave it a set of M/T baja claws, wired the 2 lowest AAA slots in series for a pair of 10440 lithium ion cells (2S at lowest CG point). Barrage more crawler/bouncer, is very cool because you can hammer or jump obstacles sometimes!
Just simply change the servo for the steering. I bought the one that already has a better steering with a servo, and not the little plastic adjustment. This may be the older version.
I do aguree wpl dose a good job on body detail . there not a bad rc vehicle. If you buy the kit vershion the assembly manul is difficult to read due to size. They are fun to build
please do a video on the kit please. I am going by what i was told by a seller on Ebay. I have ordered a kit from AliExpress. what is in your Kit ? I hope this info is accurate.
@@AMPROEngineering I ordered a few kits to build with my grandsons. Should be a educational experience for both of us :-) I am working on the Tamiya bruiser clone HGP407 fun kit. Thanks for your videos they’re always awesome.
Wheel base at full extension is 193-ish (will lengthen under compression due to 4 link) and wheel track is around 145 on mine but I printed new wheels.
Why make it so realistic if it's meant to be a toy. I think the target audience is poor chinese and other developing world guys who want a scaler but can't afford say, an ECX Barrage. Also seems by the time you buy a new servo, electronics, and a set of metal upgrades you might have well have bought a Barrage since they're on sale for $99 now (so's the gen 2 doomsday, but not the builder kit for somereason)! I am still tempted because I like the size, though something based on a 1/18 losi mini crawler, or ECX temper, or 1/16 redcat everest bits on a ladder frame would be a lot more capable.
I think that it can work fine with the stock electronics if you give it to a little one. I think this ones servo was particularly noisy but it was better than most stuff you can get at the stores today.
The Steering is. but the truck for the price isn't a bad deal. like you say... The hard body is worth the price. I am actually thinking of mounting this body on a Traxxas 1:16th Summit I have a blue summit so the wheels should match up nicely.
The RTR version is the lowest grade technically to keep cost down. One can get upgrade parts, as steering servo, more powerful motor, softer tires, metal gears and so on. The kit version of these truck comes with softer tires, the servo, better motor, but with no radio or battery. I'm into 1/14 tractor trucks and putting together one of these Hilux kit as a 'service truck'. It's scale is more close to 1/14 than 1/16. Also will try adapt one such a chassis to a 1/14 Rastar car body, which got no good driveability orginal

It was so bad. they really did a lot to improve these. Thank you!
2023 WPL B-24 owner here, it's much better now, I have low and high gear for both the steering and throttle.
Well, you aren’t sneaking up on anyone!! Great video!
That's the truth!
That bandit body would look sick on the WPL!
I know....
😊👍It looks so nice but that steering everytime I hear it it jolts me because it reminds me when you strip the gears in your gearbox!
I know what you mean.
If you get the Kit it comes with larger motor and an actual steering servo. the RTR comes with that horrid grinder. lol

Who know...not worth investigating on that stock unit. So bad...

One word- Awesome.😎
I agree.
Hahaha, that steering sounds like the last time I went to the dentist, great video though
Haha! Ouch.
that's not a dentist that's a BUTCHER! omg!
ages ago doing jewelry, we used all the same tools (dentistry copied jewelers)

New ones are different. WPL changed it shortly after this video.
I just ordered the blue army truck, I'm going to gather up some sticks and play Spintires in the backyard.
Has any body seen a scan of the kit instructions? I'm trying to see what size/length of screws it uses.
They are pretty bad. I briefly saw them.
New ones come with metal gears and screwed diff shafts
I saw that! That's killer!
Are you going to look into 3D printed upgrades for the RC10s? I'm sure us RC10 owners would love a nice set of your well engineered parts!!
I am. I want to make a cage for the car.
AMPRO Engineering That's great! Once you make one I'll be sure to buy one for my RC10! Do you plan to have it fit under the stock body? And build the wing mounts into the cage?
The 24th scale ECX Barage is a fantastic small scall crawler.
I will look at it! I havent seen that before.
It's a really cool little truck. I built a custom 57 Chevy Cameo cab for mine. Very unique looking rig.:)

This was the original one they came out with years ago. Nothing from that was compatible with the newer electronics they have now.
Just got the King Blackfoot taillights. Painted em and are drying now. Gonna figure out a way to tint them black.
There should be some spray tint you can use.
AMPRO Engineering Thanks, gotta find some
I do aguree wpl dose a good job on body detail . there not a bad rc vehicle. If you buy the kit vershion the assembly manul is difficult to read due to size. They are fun to build

car does not turn? what's it problem?
It does run but these original WPL cars had bad electronics.
If you get the Kit it comes with larger motor and an actual steering servo but, no radio

please do a video on the kit please. I am going by what i was told by a seller on Ebay. I have ordered a kit from AliExpress. what is in your Kit ? I hope this info is accurate.
@@1peanut did you get that kit from Aliexpress yet?
Now the new c24 don’t have such earrape sounds :)

Can we controll speed with this remote controllee
You can. this one has proportional throttle.

Its awful for sure.

Yeah it is pretty bad!
holy crap,,,, I hope mine arrives w/ ear plugs
Hahah! Yeah very true.

Good to hear!

This version is long dead. The base models now have proper steering and throttle.
That steering servo sounds horrible lol
Its worse in person, lol
Yeah the steering is horrible. Why they don't charge us $10 more and give us a real servo I don't get.
I think it is more than just the servo. I think it would need more logic on the PCB but more importantly, they are trying to hit a price point. Lame.
