I totally agree, after many years of fish keeping you find yourself drawn to rarer or more unusual fish, one salty I’d love to have are Japanese Spiny Lump fish, the cutest fish ever IMO.
The Common short-fin molly (Poecilia sphenops) can be adaped to salt water full term, maybe get some adults that can breed in there so there is babies he/she can pick off.
Sailfin Mollies are brackish and can be transitioned to saltwater. you could have a small breeding tank of them and feed the frog fish the molly babies. since theyre more durable to salt than guppies, you could leave them in longer.

if you like this fish you should look into the pacific spiny lumpsucker. its a small fish as well wont get too big and looks similar

They use jet propulsion to swim. I've never found any other fish that picked on my anglers.

Not good for a reef tank set up with high flow water movement but totally awesome in a refugium
Over here in Europe we put up seats for falkens. They help keep rodents in Control.
It is just a pole, maby 2 to 2.5 meters long and a pice of wood for the Birds to sit on.

I’ve only just seen this fish for the very first time today here in the UK, on a tv program called “plant earth 3” by Sir David Attenborough. It was showing The clown frogfish in the reef hunting with its shrimp like rod. It was really fascinating to watch.
Then I come on youtube tonight and you have the same kind of frogfish. So I’ve now seen 2 in the same day. 😂
you should get a 3d printer, im sure you will like it, im printing all sorts of aquarium stuff. A cheap printer is less than $200. I have an ender 2 pro and its pretty good

I've been keeping frogfish for over 20 years. Hard to believe you're just now getting into them. Get a commersons angler for size. They look basically the same but get much larger.
Also, frozen silversides work extremely well as an initial staple food.

The biggest challenge in the aquarium hobby is getting guppies to not breed
I got to see a wild, white frog fish while diving in Vietnam. The thing was about the size of a football and lived around the top of a coral head. It was pretty cool!
I also got to see a pair of turkey fish… another cool “ugly” fish.
Weather loaches are under rated as well
Frog fish and scorpion leaf fish were some of the first fish i ever kept. Super cool animals.

I have owned 3 of the wartskin anglers. I still have one. White wartskin angler i call Walter. My others died due to bad outbreak in different tank. I love my wartskin anglers.

I wouldn't suggest feeding him frozen food. He can get bad disease if it doesn't digest in time. These fish are delicate. I wouldn't want my anglers eating frozen to be honest.
Breeding mollies in his tank as they are saltwater transition-able would work for him. Constant food source and natural habits.

You're lucky you decided to buy a fish like that. Many years ago my ex husband was convinced to buy this fish for me saying it was a freshwater frogfish. It wasn't. I didn't even know if it was kept in fresh or not because he just bought it home. He doesn't ask questions. If anything it pissed me off because I knew what I was looking at was a saltwater fish and I only had a fresh and brackish water systems set up. At that time I didn't even think of testing the bag water to see what salinity it was. First problem misstep. I automatically started acclimating it to my brackish tank. Floating and then drip acclimating. Poor fish lasted just over a week. I told him to never bring another fish home without talking to me first. He brought another fish home after that needed crazy cool temps when all my tanks run tropic. That fish also died because, naturally, I didn't have a cooler. Thankfully he never brought another fish home. My current husband says all pet things are all on me unless I ask for help. At least I know he won't bring home sometime I can't take care of with what I have on hand.
