This would actually be a very interesting story for a Mega Man movie. It makes Wily a more complex character and shows a darker side to Light who tries to redeem himself. It would make a lot of sense if Light was such a strong pacifist out of immense regret. Also, it's an amazing and really dark concept to have Wily's goal to kill Mega Man out of wanting to put his son to rest, knowing that he isn't the same person he was born as.
It would be an interesting story arc for mega man as well. Since at the start, he looks like a blank slate, kinda like a normal baby. Over time, we see his knowledge grow and see him eventually regain some of his old traits(maybe through a child safe neural chip that Light implanted into his brain to access the internet in order to help speed up his development. When Dr. Wily uses the robot masters for the first time, mega man gets a quick flashback to seeing Dr. Wily when he was a child. Over the games, the gray light in Rock’s eyes slowly turn back to they original blue as he begins to piece together why and how he became Mega Man. When it all comes together and Rock finally confronts Wily about it and says he finally remembers, Wily doesn’t believe him. He’s too far gone.
Wait, So You mean to tell me that: 1. Megaman is the son of Wiley and Symmetra. 2. Megaman is basically a cyborg corpse. 3. Light tried to raise a corpse, but Megaman is only capable of battle. And 4. Wiley is driven mad by his friends betrayal. Thats Honestly awesome.
Roberto Blake Man they totally gotta use something like this for a reboot, no pun intended. I subscribed you because of Secret Histories! It’s my favorite series that you made! Keep up the good work!
I always return to this video, over and over. This is my favorite secret history, and in many ways makes me wish it was canon, maybe as a AU with some adjustments of course.
This one had emotional depth. I’d watch an entire television series based on this premise. Turning the hero into a villain is easy as pie, and making the villain a hero isn’t too much of a leap from there. It’s making both sides sympathetic and understandable that’s the real trick. A trick that the writers have mastered in this video.
What I honestly love about secret histories is that it feels like an actual conspiracy show. We have episodes such as the Mario and Mortal Kombat one that are clearly huge, improbable theories. For example, if Mario was actually a huge evil warlord, wouldn't the public already know in universe? Same situation with MK. The interviews are generally people who have it out against the heroes and will probably create fake evidence. Hell, that peach in Mario could just be a paid actor. However, then there's ones like this, Harry Potter and sonic. Unlike the other ones, it isn't the villain that's being interviewed and claiming the other person is a bad guy. Rather, it's the person's friends painting this really dark idea of what their respective heroes actually are. Hagrid for example, who's been with Harry for years, would be a trustworthy source In universe. Sonic, who's being questioned on tails, looks genuinely horrified and scared. There's a clear amount of fear and emotion in the sonic cast. But here is where it escalates. The heroes themselves openly admit their actions. Light admits to the fact that he's done terrible terrible things, and that rock was in fact Wily's son. These ones paint the best sort of stories, tragic ones where former, great people fall from grace as their friends hopelessly watch. This one in particular is seriously emotional, because we can tell for a fact that in this universe, wily had a family and was a genuinely good person. We know that light has cooperated with a terrorist Group and tries to seek forgiveness. Even roll feels bad for wily and seeing rock just stand there, lifelessly really sort of puts the final nail in the coffin. The secret files is a wonderful dark and strange 'documentary' that boldly parodies real life shows and can create some genuinely thought provoking questions. All in all, I really want to see all of this connect into one episode in where we figure out which secret files are plain hoaxes made by the villains, or tragic stories happening to all involved.
MegaMan's secret history is my personal favorite episode, because the antagonist of this is actually ashamed of his actions that effected his partner's son. He apologized to him via video, but it was too late. Wily doesn't believe him and now the robot masters rise.
This is one emotional parody for a backstory, i wish it was canon in the franchise. Wily being a grieving parent and Dr Light turning out to be anything but a Saint, taking shady deals in militarising their technology as a way to safe their company. Also i noticed that the explosion burned away Wily's fringe and scalp, making him look older than he is, very extra creative detail from you Mashed. :D
@@CarlJohnson-mf4qd what makes it more sickening is that when wily says his son has been dead for years. LIGHT HAS WEAPONIZED WILY'S DEAD SONS CORPSE AND LITERALLY TURNED HIM AGAINST HIS OWN FATHER.

And it's funny usually when they do these videos they always make the good guy look like some sort of mobster or psycho and the bad guys are always the victim's in some way. Nice to see that they're mixing it up.
Jordan Mills Yeah, that's why this one is my favorite. Light's not a great guy in it, but he's not an overt psycho. He was just doing what he thought was necessary, though his choices had terrible consequences.
Knight Warrior I'm telling you man, they totally gotta use something like this some time. If Capcom could make another Mega Man series, they should go with this angle, giving Wily and Light more of a personal connection outside of being colleagues and having Mega Man unintentionally fighting his real dad would make the franchise way more interesting!
Wow, I love it. The idea that Dr. Light is trying to do the right thing after messing up so badly and Dr. Wily going mad after losing everything. It put the whole game series in a whole new "light." Dr. Wily is trying give his son rest at last, light trying to correct his mistakes but doom to repeat them over and over as Wily is always ahead of him and Megaman, that is why he never just kill Wily, a part of him remembers his actual dad, hoping for a family again. Tears me up. Good job.
Never understood the point of gross out humor. I mean, is there really anyone that finds that funny? Depending on delivery, I guess it can take out a chuckle, but that depends on the delivery, not the level of disgust that they primarily seem to be aimed at.
@@herbbirb3766 It isn't. The canon is that apparently Dr. Wily was jealous because his contributions in science were unappreciated, which was the basis of Wily having a grudge with his at the time best friend Dr. Light. Following that, he stole and reprogrammed the first 6 robot masters and from that point things went so crazy that, 300 years afterwards(X series, Zero series and ZX series, where Wily's best creation Zero became the hero)things haven't even ended yet.
Except Wily would be the one making Mega man/ Rock, gets frustrated with him because he won't grow up, and then selling him off to a circus before adopted by Dr. Light. Trust me, Tenma's basically Shinji's dad before Evangelion.
Charlleys Jean did you know? MegaMan started out as an Astro Boy video game! Capcom was working on it, until they lost the license to Konami. With that, MegaMan was created!
I loved that one since it didn't give the franchise a twist that doesn't fit, instead they made an amazing master piece with great voice acting and that fit to the story of magaman. If capcom make this canon I would be so happy
Wow. Most of these have just been played off a shock factor, taking a hero and turning them into a psycho or the like. This is the first secret history that carries quality beyond a juvenile attempt to surprise. This had depth. It took a simple game and gave it an intense emotional power. Well done.
This is all so good, my only complaint is Rock literally forgetting how to actually think. I feel like he should’ve only the memories where he died and was Wily’s son to add some more seriousness into the story. Overall this is great, 10/10!
1:34 Roll's voice suits her looks very well, though, I'll admit,I kinda feel sorry for Dr. Wily..., almost loosing his son, so Megaman is actually more like Ironman than a Robot, except his original memory was erased, Wily should be at least happy his body still lives. Then again, now that I think about it, Wily's origins here are similar to Vader's,he lost his wife, became filled with grief and hatred and later turned evil...... though now I'm confused as well is Wily truly a man turned evil by hatred and grief? Or having a massive Rivalry with his former friend? Which should I trust? His Archie comics origins or this? (LightningMario16 is unresponsive)
The Archie Comics is closer to the actual games, but you can choose either of them for a personal head canon. Not that it means it's the actual canon mind you, but one can prefer whichever one wants.
Wait...hold up, Wily's possible son gets severely injured on the brink of death, brought back in another light(heh heh),and becomes a hero fighting robots.... where have I heard that before?
Well, Megaman 11 did cover the backstory: *SPOILER WARNING FOR MEGAMAN 11 , THE X & ZERO SERIES!* MM11 features Wily and Lights falling out, but they were never a duo. They were friends, and worked at Robot University, but the falling out was because of Wily's Double Gear system. Wily wanted to create the Double Gear system to make any robot into a hero, but Light wanted Wily to stop developing the Double Gear system, in fear that it could do much chaos. So the University chose Light's independent thought research instead of the Double Gear research. Wily was jealous as a result of him being in Light's shadow. Later on, Dr. Light regretted his actions. So it's somewhat true. *X & ZERO SPOILERS AHEAD ⚠* Funny that since Robot University chose the independent thought research, it would lead to the creation of X and the Reploids, which then lead to Zero(Wily's final creation) with the Maverick Virus that caused the Maverick Wars; Which in turn lead researchers study Zero's body when he was in stasis to create the Mother Elf to kill the virus, which caused Dr. Weil to corrupt the Mother Elf to cause the Elf Wars that killed 60% of the humans and 90% of the Reploids, and Weil used Zero's Original Body to create Omega.
@@jesusa.adorno6933 jokes aside, i personally think that the whole "double gear incident" being the sole reason why wily does what he does, is kind of dumb (along with the fact that he litterally just remembered it NOW, after 11 freakin games), and I honestly think that this backstory for wily is a lot more interesting and subversive than the canon one capcom made. But that's just my opinion.
Grian Is The Best I’m just making a reference to an anime, where a villain starts laughing maniacally at the end of an episode but the up beat ending song plays.
So doctor light and wily went to the same class as Neo Cortex, prof Oak, Symmetra, Eggman and i have no idea who the other two are but they where taught by Dr Gero (A20)
Eggman looks like a badass, Oak looks like he's dealing drugs, Wily's being a good student, and Light is slacking. People really do change a lot from college
Kind of enjoyed this. I'm rarely a fan of 'the big good wolf' type things, but it always attracts me with Megaman. Wily builds a lot more creations than Light does, so the idea that Wily was riding HIS coat-tails seems off. Wily's creations have betrayed him, showing he builds them with free will, while Megaman has been established to be shackled to his programming...
gunfighter Man they totally gotta use something like this for a reboot, no pun intended, with a slightly more tragic angle it would make the hostility between Dr.Light and Dr.Wily more personal and thus make it more tragic whenever Mega Man beats Wily since he's fighting his birth dad for the sake of his adopted dad.
I actually like this. It gives Wily a sympathetic reason to hate Light, while also give Light an understandable situation for him to betray Wily like that.
2:19 top "SECRET" contract and then put some walking robots outside, im sure NOOone will ever notice them.....later on that day everyone notices them and gets on news.
This is an interesting alternative perspective, one I have seen dabbled with before like with instances that GameTheory touched on before. Seeing it animated makes one sympathize with Dr Wily a bit more.

@@shmork5418 apparently he already did that
This video was AMAZING! So much emotional power in this one. good work Mashed.
I wish this is canon.
Good job.
“All it takes is one bad day to drive the sanest man alive to lunacy.” - Joker
I think you mean 2. One to drive him to an emotional nadir, one to punch him through the floor. Three if you count his wife leaving.
Dude this was legit the best episode so far and it actually made me think about the events in mega man
Good job
11/10
I agree! It doesn't need gross out humor the Harry Potter video had. All it needed was a touching story.
This is actually canon I think.
Do Something good on Luigi
I gotta chase a blue chili dog eating hedgehog
that brings us to the sonic and tails hidden history
@MageBurger
He ment that the last thing they said in the video, was what lead to the creation of the Secret History Of Sonic And Tails
+MageBurger I found you ! UA-cam is a small place xDDD
that actually make a lot of sense
also astro boy reference
Except Wily would be the one making Mega man/ Rock, gets frustrated with him because he won't grow up, and then selling him off to a circus before adopted by Dr. Light.
Trust me, Tenma's basically Shinji's dad before Evangelion.
looking back, I think that astro boy was just a t-800 going through an awkward phase.
powerist Pretty much.
Charlleys Jean did you know? MegaMan started out as an Astro Boy video game! Capcom was working on it, until they lost the license to Konami. With that, MegaMan was created!
And a sonic reference
"I'm more than just a robot, Wily."
Nice mega man quote I just forgot which one is it
@@thebigm8052 Mega Man VII
oh god
it amazes me how they got some obscure aspect of the lore right, like how Protoman's core has always been unstable
I think you should create The Secret History of Metroid.
Shaun M I would love to see that
What could go wrong
Yes!
This is unsarcasticly the best backstory I’ve ever heard for a video game
The fact that Protoman(the Mega Suit) has an unstable core is actually lore accurate
hello mustare from the hit youtube channel mustare
If this was true. Willy succeeded with zero. Even if he's an edgier hero
Good quote with the rhyme
But zero is a crazy mad man who killed him
Zero did not kill the original cast. Everyone at Capcom says so, you're going off on a fan theory
Zero ended up a hero in the end. He sacrificed himself to save humanity from Ragnarok in Mega Man Zero 4.
Born a villain, lived a hero, died a legend.
I can’t really tell who the villain is.
There's no villains in life.
Dr wily is trying to let his son's soul rest but dr light is raising him as a promise to dr wily.
Caleb Bonilla they both just want to help
The moron who dug the pit Rock fell in? Ok no-
@@ismailtopa3671 how bout hitler
I loved that one since it didn't give the franchise a twist that doesn't fit, instead they made an amazing master piece with great voice acting and that fit to the story of magaman. If capcom make this canon I would be so happy
I hope they make a sequel to this someday.
3:02 when protoman appears his whistle plays, that's a really good easter egg
This gets a lot darker when you consider the ending of MM7
Mega man tries to kill Dr Wily
You mean the scene, where he is on his knees? At first glance, he's begging for mercy. On the other hand, he's grieving for his son.
@@Sypaka and then his son tries to kill him
That's because that cursed light programed him to do that
Would mega man be considered a maverick after that?
@@retrosaturn202 I honestly don't know
Wow. Most of these have just been played off a shock factor, taking a hero and turning them into a psycho or the like. This is the first secret history that carries quality beyond a juvenile attempt to surprise. This had depth. It took a simple game and gave it an intense emotional power. Well done.
Please continue on this story. I would live to see this as a series.

Lightning Mario16 this!
@@Iron8127 Astroboy/Robocop
@@ligtningdog6399 more likely robocop in this case. In the case that with AstroBoy he was more... of a replica of the Original than well...a cyborg
Welp this is canon no one can change my mind on that
Well, Megaman 11 did cover the backstory:
*SPOILER WARNING FOR MEGAMAN 11 , THE X & ZERO SERIES!*
MM11 features Wily and Lights falling out, but they were never a duo.
*X & ZERO SPOILERS AHEAD ⚠*
Funny that since Robot University chose the independent thought research, it would lead to the creation of X and the Reploids, which then lead to Zero(Wily's final creation) with the Maverick Virus that caused the Maverick Wars; Which in turn lead researchers study Zero's body when he was in stasis to create the Mother Elf to kill the virus, which caused Dr.

But that's just my opinion.
it's a pretty dark story but this could honestly work really well as a megaman spinoff
This is how true stories are. both sides are rightous, and both sides are the villians.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Blockhead134 even tho its not true
Someone give this man a cookie.

DR LIGHT IS THE TRUE VILLAN.

This is the best twist of an existing plot I've seen since The Protomen

Jaden Kirby did you notice the Destiny reference?
yesh
Dominic Alucard the cube thing right? I never played destiny
Anyone else notice how Wily married Symmetra
i did
Thus he's even more of a genius
God damn no wonder she was more thicc than usual in Overwatch
TheNotSoAvid I did!
TheNotSoAvid yea why symatra is willys wif
This would be awesome if this was legit Megaman canon.
gunfighter Megaman's Cannon XD
I can tell you alllll of it
gunfighter Man they totally gotta use something like this for a reboot, no pun intended, with a slightly more tragic angle it would make the hostility between Dr.Light and Dr.Wily more personal and thus make it more tragic whenever Mega Man beats Wily since he's fighting his birth dad for the sake of his adopted dad.
I actually would love for this to be canon, good job!
I actually like this. It gives Wily a sympathetic reason to hate Light, while also give Light an understandable situation for him to betray Wily like that.
