This is my pledge ship, and I really can't wait for this beast to makes its debut. I really love ships that can have multiple roles, and the Corsair on design looks like it can be useful in everything the game could offer. Exploration, bounties, piracy, hauling, taking a crew planet side and gearing up in a vehicle. When this ship is released, everyone will wonder why they don't have one in their hanger.

I think it will come out either at the end of this year during IAE, or at the beginning of the next, but that’s just my speculation. Hahaha exactly Ozram Blue, it is one of the nicest ships in the galaxy to go sightseeing with after all! I do see this being an amazing multi purpose ship for those honest working professionals, especially as a logical leap from a Cutlass to Corsair!
I'll be honest, the Corsair is my guilty buy ship. I just love the old-school Star Wars-esque asymmetric look, and in all honesty, it's my pick for the 'Verse's Millenium Falcon (sorry, but MSR is just too sleek and purpose-built for it to be a convincing Falcon...). But as for its use, I don't really have one, beyond maybe being my pick for a multi-crew daily driver (I have a Nomad for solo and shorter trips). Beyond that, I'm just going to experiment and see what I can make it do, as exploration isn't something I'm all too interested in, there's better cargo ships (well, ships with larger capacity anyway, I think the Corsair could make a pretty decent blockade runner, as it should be decently fast a just going in a straight line) and pirate life ain't for me. Bounty-hunting, we'll see, but it's definately not something I would do alone, and the scout concept you talked about is interesting, but I don't see there being that many opportunities for it. But who knows. Until I figure something out, Franken-ship testbed for weird combinations and large daily driver is what my Corsair can expect in its future. Also, I'll also confess that I did contemplate if I should CCU my Corsair to the 400i, since that's the only Origin ship that I genuinely like, but I then asked myself "Do I want a hangar _trophy_ or a hangar _project_ ?" and decided that a trophy is only going to be a trophy, where as the project I can mold to whatever I feel like.

I think the Corsair will make an excellent multi-purpose large daily driver, or small crew ship. And as far as an impulse buy, I think you made one of the better choices there! Not just for your wallet, but because this is going to be a rather amazingly versatile ship. Even if you don’t have a focused goal, I think the ability to take this ship in a large number of directions is really appealing! And I absolutely love the Star Wars esque design, which reminds me immediately of the emperors shuttle craft from the original trilogy! I’m just enamored with the idea of seeing the ship coming into atmosphere with those wings folding up!
400i is like a tiny tokyo apartment. No space for anything. But it is a sleek design as it is origin. Corsair will have way more space for people and things. Corsair will likely jump to $300 when flyable, so you made a better choice this time since you paid the same as what a 400i costs but got way more ship.

I really do like both of their interiors, but it’s really cool that the corsair offers each person their own unique space! I think that’s a cool touch and brings a ton of personalization and immersion to the space! It would be awesome if NPC crew could customize theirs within some parameters to their own stylings!

You guys are assuming the size 5 gimbals can be removed. On the Connie only 2 can be swapped for size 5s. There are many other ships that have permanent Gimbals for balance. The fact that this ship would be way OP with Size 5s tell me that most likely the Gimbals will be grayed out and not replaceable with size 5 guns.
That’s a very fair point! It’s possible that the weapon sizes will be with locked gimbals, without being able to upgrade to a size 5 fixed. That said, the Constellation was supposed to have all of its pilot guns upgradable to size 5’s, but the designers encountered issues with the lower two that prevented them from being able to add the bigger weapons with the landing gear down (clipping and other problems). We will have to see after release and post-balance though! But based on the Corsair’s design ethos, I believe it will be a heavy hitting gunship with some serious firepower! I just picked up the arrow, then the expanse offered LTI and a loaner that was an amazing deal that brings me to the point that I can melt it all for the next tier when I am ready... I own a Drake Corsair named "Divine Wind". My planned use for the ship is option #3: Combat/Bounty Hunting and #6: "Salvage"...yeah, looting ships that attacked me first. The only issue I have with the Corsair is the issue with all Drake ships, no escape pods or ejection seats. Of course when charting unknown or unclaimed space you can't expect rescue if your ship is destroyed so Drake just follows the ways of the old sailors who refused to learn how to swim in case their ships went down. "Why prolong the suffering?"

@@Red-V-SB Yes, ship naming came with warbond versions of the Corsair, the Carrack Expedition and the 600i warbond (either version). The Eclipse bomber when concepted came with a unique tail number if bought warbond.

I'm thinking of using the Corsair crew cabins for passenger transport. For those who can't afford to travel in Origin luxury or Crusader efficiency. I don't need to see if you have valid travel documents or know your real name and I don't care about your crimestat... So long as you can pay, I'll take you to the farthest reaches of known space and through systems the fancier shuttles wouldn't dare go. You get a private room and 2 meals a day... also be prepared to man a turret in the event of a security scan.

Been loving these ship dives! Just picked up a Corsair to shore up my fleet as a straight damage option since an msr will only be useful for cargo for a while. Also can’t wait for the polaris!

When I got this ship at concept, it was to be my LTI token for a BMM, and because an Aquila and Buccaneer as loaners is $420 worth of ships for $215. I didn't like the wing Configuration, and I still think it won't fly well in atmo if it loses one, but all that firepower started infecting my theory craft. I'm no pirate, but imagine the adventures you can have in this ship with a couple of friends. And it's role in an org military will be quite dramatic. Best used, I think, to boom and zoom while other ships keep enemies engaged. Ultimately I upgraded Corsair #1 to the Tali Bomber for Xeno-threat. But very soon after I upgraded my FL Max to a Corsair. And now she is a keeper.
The loaners are really great for this ship, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by the Corsair after release either! I’m really looking forward to it and seeing its combat performance in game; I suspect it’ll be quite impressive on its own and even more so with a crew!
@@ViciDeum I've got to say, my biggest concern with the Corsair is that it will meet the current fate of my MSR: I rarely fly it. My plan for Day 1 is to fly the MSR and do cargo runs (and yes I have pre-purchased enough UEC to fill the hold) eventually building up to Enough money it fill a larger ship, like maybe the Taurus, then the Railen, eventually an M2 or Carrack, and then move up to BMM. (each of which I own or will own by day 1) I suppose I could start with the Corsair, for a day or two, but the step from 72 to 114 SCU is not that big. And it would be more like "make-work" for the Corsair. I suppose there will be the occasional need for the cargo run only a fool would attack. But it will serve better as escort Than freighter. At least for my plans. Still. She is a keeper, because MY GOSH those guns!

I have one coming. Piracy. This will be the first time I set out to find a loyal crew of cutthroats. I plan on using this ship to attack medium to large freight carrying ships. Yes, armed with distortions on at least two of the bigger guns, and perhaps ballistics on the smallest. Also exploration into Pyro. My expectation is that the tables turn in pyro. No crime stats out here folks...come at your own risk. I plan on carrying an Ursa Rover and potentially any other vehicle that could fit in - but not sure what will fit. The only cargo I carry will be what I have mined and sent to refinery on my own, and whatever is pirated. Thank you for the best video to date on the Corsair you did a great job on this.

Brother seen a few of your vids, they are very, very good. Subbed my man, and keep it up. Personally I think this particular ship is better used as a fwd recon or small crewed combat ship. As you pointed out, it has good weapon complement and possibly good shielding which would allow for some daring combat.

If they do, as you suggest, put an S3 shield on this ship, it would be rediculiously OP. This ship has 4xS5 and 2xS4 mounts under pilot control (and then another 6xS2 mounts on turrets). Compare this to the (slightly more expensive) 400i with 2xS4 (and 4xS3 on turrets that can't face forward); and this ship is an offensive monster (that also has more crew and more cargo). It will presumably not have the range of the 400i, and will presumably be slower... but even so, without reduced shields, it's unbalanced.
Jerry Love, I do think this ship will be one of the most impressive combat explorers, but I think they will balance it in a few ways! First, all Drake ships including the Corsair are light armored and lack ejection pods/seats, so the risk of the death of a spaceman to the pilot is significantly higher. Once the time to kill ships is properly increased, these will be significantly more important! Additionally, the Corsair has several of his weapons (including all of its missiles) tied to the wings, which have a tendency to be lost in dogfights, reducing DPS if lost! But I think when compared to the 400 I, this ship does come up short several ways, mostly combat and class, because this ship is in a different category. Despite what they said, the 400 I really is a upgrade to the freelancer series, rather than a competitor to the constellation which it was billed against. But even if compared to just the 400i, the Corsair comes up short in speed, amenities, escape features, armor, scanning, luxury amenities and range! For those reasons I do think the Corsair is balance-able with either a S3 or (2)S2 although I suspect it’ll likely get the S3!
@@ViciDeum I own the 400i. I believe the Corsair actually outclasses the 400 in the scanning department. I haven’t read anything about the 400 specifically having good scanners, though I know it has the fancy scanning suite with planetary display. I have however read the Corsair is kitted with good scanners so our information on both ships scanning capabilities seem a bit limited at the moment.

Richard, I love this idea and agree the Corsair would make a fantastic ship to do it in! While other ships may have higher utility (medbays, etc), I doubt those competitors can leverage the features in as nimble or aggressive a form factor as this! I suspect these ships will be highly profitable in that regard, as few players will want to pursue the risk of that engagement! Before that I was sitting with a Connie, a game package and just enough frames to keep playing every patch, but not enjoyably; even with optimizations, only around 15fps on 1080p max! But thankfully, Star Citizen is a nice slow burn, so there’re plenty of time to prepare the perfect fleet and PC for launch! And whether Star Turtle or TankerTurtle, I’ll find good purchase with you my armored friend 😉👍
Great discussion of a ship that is second only to the BMM in my list of "gibs"... I would add some Avenger Warlocks or Vanguard Sentinels to the dedicated piracy squadron you envision, however. You'll need the EMP to disable the target after the shields have been taken down prior to boarding. Not that I would ever use mine for such nefarious purposes....

Idk why but I had to buy this ship the moment I saw it. I already have a cutlass black that I use as a multi-role ship but I feel like that ship is just sometimes not enough for my needs, so something a bit larger like the Corsair would be perfect. I can definitely see this ship being used a lot in the future.

i plan to use my corsair to help our researcher and collect plant , animal or what ever , on the back for long range exploration a ursa or a ranger or cyclone MT but i also plan to experiment with it see if i can turn it into a nice heavy fighter this is one of the ship i wait the most with the perseus

Ha a purpose built exploration ship with no med facility. CI have really dug a massive whole with the medical gameplay. IF it was me every ship needs to have a med bed - its ridiclous to send anyone across at massive system with out. It definately needs to be available in more smaller crewed ships

I suspect careful planning and stockpiling medical supplies will be incredibly important in ships like this. Personally, I fully intend to explore whenever possible in a ship that has onboard medical facilities! Unfortunately you don't want to take the gimbals off the forward guns, as the Corsair doesn't handle well enough to hit anything but large targets without them.
Currently my goal is use my corsair as a PMC ship. As stated, the Corsair would be a great scout / special mission ship. Ferrying troops and equipment to a drop zone, then supporting against heavier targets. Would also be great as a combat "anchor", Something that can provide a base of fire while also being able to keep up with heavy fighters and the like: Think of it like a machine gun team for an infantry squad. Another spookier mission set that fits along with Bounty hunting / Piracy would be privateer charter work. A team of guys needs to recover a ship? Trying to steal something? or a ship? The Corsair would make a perfect "wheelman" ship to pick up or drop off in sketchy situations. Maybe a bit fat for stealth though.

Last I heard was less agile than the Connie. I'd love the size 3 and will probably swap from my MSR to the Andromeda over this as with her being Drake her shields probably won't be great and the Connie does just fine for me.
It’s quite possible that the Constellations may end up being more agile, but I’d be rather surprised if that ends up being the case, as they’re notoriously cumbersome, even compared to larger ships than it. @@OldManShoutsAtClouds The Connie does just fine for agility I've found though I always fly her fully crewed. The corsair will probably be balanced through her mobility and shields. Got to have a downside for all that pilot firepower after all as well as encourage turret crewing

The Corsair makes a really compelling choice over the Andromeda, if you don’t mind giving up a bit of cargo capacity and the snub fighter! And yes it should be available for pledge during IAE! And I suspect somewhere right around $240 will be where it ends up!
this ship was a hell no when i first look at it but 3.14 went live and i wanted to redo my entire fleet and now this ship is in my wish list. if it hits 350 then nope but if i can still pick up a CCU for at or near last sale price then yep

im waiting on my corsair. hoping the 4x biggest guns can be s5 fixed(which means slapping four redeemer gatlings on the front) and easily dealing with erts no problemo. if thats the case then it has the edge against most connies. in fact all of them considering the andromeda(and all of them) will lose a weapon when losing an engine. im suprised the hype for this ship isn't more because it will become the best ship you can fly solo
I agree and think the Corsair will make waves once it’s introduced in the verse! And I personally suspect it’ll out DPS the Connie lineup but while offering less internal protection (no escape pods, possibly less shields, etc)!
@@ViciDeum best case scenario the size 5 hardpoints are actually s5 hardpoints. but considering you get an extra 2xs4 hardpoints, i have a bad feeling the 4xs5s and 2xsi4s are gimballed. even so you can create a gatling monster. but yeah even if its all gimballed the DPS easily outclasses the andromeda
I think most people forget you can put size 5 on the connies plus they have a snub fighter as well. So no need to bring a carrier if you go a long way where the smaller ships can not go. Like 315p has not the same range as the connies or the Corsair. So they need transport or some bases to refuel. Same goes also for the mantis, shorter range than your long range corsair. And with this pyro you need some backup from fighters from this liberator or if possible a snubfighter like in the connie. But granted i do like the interiour of the corsair better than the connie, you can see that this "next gen" ship. Still imo both seem to be excellent ships and i think the corsair should get the size 3 shield like the connie.

I agree, I think you’re going to be limited in the set up I mention with the quantum range on those ships. I suspect when operating in Pyro, you would likely need to operating a traffic area with a close means of turning those goods into profit! And I think you make some excellent points about the Constellations as well. They are an excellent ship (albeit in need of an aesthetic overhaul), and probably account for the majority of my flight time in game! I’m afraid their current sluggishness could be problematic if added into a more maneuverable pirate fleet, but I can potentially see their inclusion in a set up like I mentioned as well! And if they resolve the clipping issues with the lower guns, I believe the constellation was meant to be able to equip 4S5!
@@ViciDeum It was indeed 4x size 5, but at the moment due an design oversight, its now 2x size 5 and 2 gimbal size 4 max. That is unfortunated but it is what it is. The connie was not always so sluggish are you might remember, but due some feedback of some of the community it got nerfed. I personally they should take this mass in account if they want to make a ship sluggish or not. Because that should be the stat that influences how sluggish it is or not. Now you have ships with a bigger mass that handle better than the connie. I have no idea why that is, but again it is what it is. Also apprecitate your answer.

I fell in love with the ship for a while during 3.13, but it’s definitely taken a back seat after the 3.14 balancing. I still think it’s a great multi-role ship but it’s definitely outclassed by larger ships in my fleet, and really does handle much worse than many ships much larger than it!

Hey Arachnied, yes unfortunately with the majority of these concept ships the information we have primarily comes from the sales brochure! But given the role of this ship and that brochure, as well as my gameplay I suspect this will end up being more agile than a Connie! I’ve also been flying the Connie since it was first released in-game, and so I’ve had a long flight history with it. The Connie currently flies and has traditionally flown significantly heavier than it’s class, often seriously underperforming in agility against competitors. The trade-off though, is that you get maximum utility aboard, having impressive firepower, a snub craft, cargo, living quarters, ejection pods, an armored Hull, and more! But ultimately we will have to await its release in-game to see how it all ends up working out! I love StarCit, but this ship looks so much like the Trooper's ship in Star Wars : The Old Republic that I just can't get excited. (Specifically, the nature of the asymmetric wings)
It really does have some old styling designs that are very reminiscent of Star Wars ships; although I think that’s exactly why I like this ship personally! 72 SCU of cargo isn't lot. I'm curious therefore how big this ship is, it's presumably substantially smaller than the Carrack despite being exploration too. But that's good, we want variety and difference, not clones with different skins. Offensively it blows the Carrack away, especially what the pilot has at their disposal.
This ship is currently slated to be about 5 m smaller than the constellation series for some size comparison, so the 72 SCU is rather robust for its class! The Corsair is much smaller than the Carrack, although I do suspect that it will grow a little bit larger by release, but not too significantly! Can't wait for this to get in game. Your combat analysis seems a bit off though. You are assuming you can use all the remote turrets as a pilot for one. Also, you are thinking that the Corsair will be maneuverable enough to fight the small escort ships that come with the HH and larger bounty missions. But besides offensive weapons, we need to see what it gets for shields. The redeemer just threw a big FU to just about ALL small and medium ships when they somehow gave it HH levels of shields. 1x S3 on a ship smaller than a connie would have been good. Valkyrie gun boat/drop ship comes with 2x s2. I mean WTF were they thinking with the Redeemer? Either all ships need another shield at this point, or they just need to make the redeemer a bit more sensible. It has the same shielding and same forward facing fire power as a damn HH, yet it is like 1/3 the size. They just keep putting bigger guns and bigger stuff on ships making this less of a skill game and more of a big ship always wins game. Then the funny part about the ares is that they were supposedly envisioned to take on capital ships, yet the range of their s7 weapons is the same as the s5 weapons on the redeemer which has 185,000 more shielding and double the hull HP as the ares. So basically the redeemer has the same range as a capital fighter, 3x the forward facing firepower, and like 15x the shielding and hull. Remind me again which is the capital slayer? Going to take my corsair and find a secluded section of some moon and live out my days away from all the nonsense.
Hahaha, well I think I’ll join you over on that quiet moon away from all the noise! And hopefully you’ll be able to get an AI blade for that remote Corsair turret! But I agree, I have no idea what they were doing with the balance on that ship! Hopefully with a few more iterations and some community feedback will be able to get all of these back in balance!

@@suuubwayyy3093 I have an amazing experience playing in game, and it runs exceptionally well! From major cities, to Orison, to the Xenothreat event I was able to have smooth frame rates and a really great experience, never dipping below 30 FPS even under heavy loads on 1440p and while recording. I average 60-80 FPS but that’s improved even more with 3.15! If you want a great example of my ingame footage, take a look at my Scam Citizen (Parody) series. They’re gaming music videos, but do a great job capturing some of that in game footage with a Clickbait title to drum up a few more views haha. But they’ll give you a good idea! And I run a 10700K, 3070, 32Gb DDR4 @4000 with a 980 pro nvme ssd (with a 970 ssd dump drive) and a 750w Platinum PSU out of a Corsair Air 540 with a Corsair AIO CPU cooler 👍

About msr: i Have it As a starter:D it Will be my early hauler/data running ship definetly. I like the look of it, how it flyes etc.. Its basicly SC milenium Falcon And for me curently most pretty ship in the game (released ships) but the BMM Will be a huge competition:) anyway if youre alone 400i Is better in case of DPS, Fully crewed Is another Story And in that case i would bet on msr due to Its perfect turrets. About the right pick i Have to decide what i want to do, if Its a piracy the Corsair Is the right pick, huge dps for a pilot, but i suppose IT Will be slower And less Agile And you can put Ursa or roc in it. But those turrets on Corsair Are pretty much uselles sadly, unless they Will do some rework And i dont see that my corpmates Will be enjoying using them in the state how they Are presented;D but we Will see 400i Is more like stealthy exploration ship, 42 scu Is enough for Its role, 2*S4 guns And tons of missiles Is also not bad. Large shield Is a huge advantage And Its little bit less slower than msr So in this ship you Are able to pick your targets And if you meet something stronger you can run with ease And anything which Is able to catch you are mostly smaller ships which Will get demolished by those turrets at the back.. For hauling And combat i Will Have other ships like MSR or BMM.. but i want one exploration ships because i melted my carrack due to Its limited sólo capabilites if youre flying alone youre basicly huge target yelling hit me..

Especially when their dedicated explorer (the Aquila) doesn’t even have a hot plate for its crew! That is a good rule of thumb, as they’re often the last thing to be updated in concept ships and definitely aren’t 100% indicative of the final product haha. Although they can be a useful guide when trying to work out the role of a ship and their intentions for it!

It makes a really good competitor for the large multi crew ships like the Connie’s. And unless they continue with that small jump point sizing, I’d see little incentive choosing a Freelancer over a Corsair!
@@ViciDeum a few things could make some one chose the Freelancer over the Corsair like fuel consumption, price, turn speed but Freelancer just has so many flaws as is and the Corsair is looking like the answer to all of them

They’ll likely be more agile, and especially in the case of the Freelancer MIS, I think there will always be special case uses where a Freelancer is more preferable. But I agree, I think they are going to be edge situations, and it does look like the Corsair offers a number of more compelling alternatives the majority of the time!
The only ship that could compete with the Corsair is the “Scimitar” and would sell like wildfire if CIG would pull their heads out of their **s and build it.

This is my pledge ship, and I really can't wait for this beast to makes its debut. I really love ships that can have multiple roles, and the Corsair on design looks like it can be useful in everything the game could offer. Exploration, bounties, piracy, hauling, taking a crew planet side and gearing up in a vehicle. When this ship is released, everyone will wonder why they don't have one in their hanger.

A peaceful and humble home away from home. Clearly an honest ship for an honest crew. I have one in order and friends of the highest character to go observe frequently travelled tradelanes in. We love looking at pretty ships with big cargo bays.

Hahaha exactly Ozram Blue, it is one of the nicest ships in the galaxy to go sightseeing with after all! I do see this being an amazing multi purpose ship for those honest working professionals, especially as a logical leap from a Cutlass to Corsair!
I'll be honest, the Corsair is my guilty buy ship. I just love the old-school Star Wars-esque asymmetric look, and in all honesty, it's my pick for the 'Verse's Millenium Falcon (sorry, but MSR is just too sleek and purpose-built for it to be a convincing Falcon...). But as for its use, I don't really have one, beyond maybe being my pick for a multi-crew daily driver (I have a Nomad for solo and shorter trips). Beyond that, I'm just going to experiment and see what I can make it do, as exploration isn't something I'm all too interested in, there's better cargo ships (well, ships with larger capacity anyway, I think the Corsair could make a pretty decent blockade runner, as it should be decently fast a just going in a straight line) and pirate life ain't for me. Bounty-hunting, we'll see, but it's definately not something I would do alone, and the scout concept you talked about is interesting, but I don't see there being that many opportunities for it. But who knows. Until I figure something out, Franken-ship testbed for weird combinations and large daily driver is what my Corsair can expect in its future.
Also, I'll also confess that I did contemplate if I should CCU my Corsair to the 400i, since that's the only Origin ship that I genuinely like, but I then asked myself "Do I want a hangar _trophy_ or a hangar _project_ ?" and decided that a trophy is only going to be a trophy, where as the project I can mold to whatever I feel like.

And as far as an impulse buy, I think you made one of the better choices there! Not just for your wallet, but because this is going to be a rather amazingly versatile ship. And I absolutely love the Star Wars esque design, which reminds me immediately of the emperors shuttle craft from the original trilogy! I’m just enamored with the idea of seeing the ship coming into atmosphere with those wings folding up!
400i is like a tiny tokyo apartment. No space for anything. But it is a sleek design as it is origin. Corsair will have way more space for people and things. Corsair will likely jump to $300 when flyable, so you made a better choice this time since you paid the same as what a 400i costs but got way more ship.
@@Power5 I think that’s an apt comparison, especially with the efficiency of space! I really do like both of their interiors, but it’s really cool that the corsair offers each person their own unique space!
I think that’s a cool touch and brings a ton of personalization and immersion to the space! It would be awesome if NPC crew could customize theirs within some parameters to their own stylings!

I bought it because the carrack used to look like serenity . This seems like it has the heart of serenity.
This definitely has a lot of the internal stylings of Serenity! If you took this interior and added it to the Freelancer exterior, you’d have a really close comparison!

You guys are assuming the size 5 gimbals can be removed. On the Connie only 2 can be swapped for size 5s. There are many other ships that have permanent Gimbals for balance. The fact that this ship would be way OP with Size 5s tell me that most likely the Gimbals will be grayed out and not replaceable with size 5 guns.
That’s a very fair point! It’s possible that the weapon sizes will be with locked gimbals, without being able to upgrade to a size 5 fixed. That said, the Constellation was supposed to have all of its pilot guns upgradable to size 5’s, but the designers encountered issues with the lower two that prevented them from being able to add the bigger weapons with the landing gear down (clipping and other problems).
We will have to see after release and post-balance though! But based on the Corsair’s design ethos, I believe it will be a heavy hitting gunship with some serious firepower!

I own a Drake Corsair named "Divine Wind". My planned use for the ship is option #3: Combat/Bounty Hunting and #6: "Salvage"...yeah, looting ships that attacked me first. The only issue I have with the Corsair is the issue with all Drake ships, no escape pods or ejection seats. Of course when charting unknown or unclaimed space you can't expect rescue if your ship is destroyed so Drake just follows the ways of the old sailors who refused to learn how to swim in case their ships went down. "Why prolong the suffering?"

@@Red-V-SB Yes, ship naming came with warbond versions of the Corsair, the Carrack Expedition and the 600i warbond (either version). The Eclipse bomber when concepted came with a unique tail number if bought warbond.

I'm thinking of using the Corsair crew cabins for passenger transport. For those who can't afford to travel in Origin luxury or Crusader efficiency. I don't need to see if you have valid travel documents or know your real name and I don't care about your crimestat... So long as you can pay, I'll take you to the farthest reaches of known space and through systems the fancier shuttles wouldn't dare go. You get a private room and 2 meals a day... also be prepared to man a turret in the event of a security scan.

Been loving these ship dives! Just picked up a Corsair to shore up my fleet as a straight damage option since an msr will only be useful for cargo for a while. Also can’t wait for the polaris!

When I got this ship at concept, it was to be my LTI token for a BMM, and because an Aquila and Buccaneer as loaners is $420 worth of ships for $215. I didn't like the wing Configuration, and I still think it won't fly well in atmo if it loses one, but all that firepower started infecting my theory craft. I'm no pirate, but imagine the adventures you can have in this ship with a couple of friends. And it's role in an org military will be quite dramatic.
Best used, I think, to boom and zoom while other ships keep enemies engaged.
Ultimately I upgraded Corsair #1 to the Tali Bomber for Xeno-threat. But very soon after I upgraded my FL Max to a Corsair. And now she is a keeper.
The loaners are really great for this ship, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by the Corsair after release either! I’m really looking forward to it and seeing its combat performance in game; I suspect it’ll be quite impressive on its own and even more so with a crew!
@@ViciDeum I've got to say, my biggest concern with the Corsair is that it will meet the current fate of my MSR: I rarely fly it. My plan for Day 1 is to fly the MSR and do cargo runs (and yes I have pre-purchased enough UEC to fill the hold) eventually building up to Enough money it fill a larger ship, like maybe the Taurus, then the Railen, eventually an M2 or Carrack, and then move up to BMM. (each of which I own or will own by day 1)
I suppose I could start with the Corsair, for a day or two, but the step from 72 to 114 SCU is not that big. And it would be more like "make-work" for the Corsair.
I suppose there will be the occasional need for the cargo run only a fool would attack. But it will serve better as escort Than freighter. At least for my plans.
Still. She is a keeper, because MY GOSH those guns!

I have one coming. Piracy. This will be the first time I set out to find a loyal crew of cutthroats. I plan on using this ship to attack medium to large freight carrying ships. Yes, armed with distortions on at least two of the bigger guns, and perhaps ballistics on the smallest. Also exploration into Pyro. My expectation is that the tables turn in pyro. No crime stats out here folks...come at your own risk. I plan on carrying an Ursa Rover and potentially any other vehicle that could fit in - but not sure what will fit. The only cargo I carry will be what I have mined and sent to refinery on my own, and whatever is pirated.

Personally I think this particular ship is better used as a fwd recon or small crewed combat ship. As you pointed out, it has good weapon complement and possibly good shielding which would allow for some daring combat.

If they do, as you suggest, put an S3 shield on this ship, it would be rediculiously OP. This ship has 4xS5 and 2xS4 mounts under pilot control (and then another 6xS2 mounts on turrets).
Compare this to the (slightly more expensive) 400i with 2xS4 (and 4xS3 on turrets that can't face forward); and this ship is an offensive monster (that also has more crew and more cargo). It will presumably not have the range of the 400i, and will presumably be slower... but even so, without reduced shields, it's unbalanced.
Jerry Love, I do think this ship will be one of the most impressive combat explorers, but I think they will balance it in a few ways! First, all Drake ships including the Corsair are light armored and lack ejection pods/seats, so the risk of the death of a spaceman to the pilot is significantly higher. Once the time to kill ships is properly increased, these will be significantly more important!
Additionally, the Corsair has several of his weapons (including all of its missiles) tied to the wings, which have a tendency to be lost in dogfights, reducing DPS if lost!
But I think when compared to the 400 I, this ship does come up short several ways, mostly combat and class, because this ship is in a different category. Despite what they said, the 400 I really is a upgrade to the freelancer series, rather than a competitor to the constellation which it was billed against.
But even if compared to just the 400i, the Corsair comes up short in speed, amenities, escape features, armor, scanning, luxury amenities and range!
For those reasons I do think the Corsair is balance-able with either a S3 or (2)S2 although I suspect it’ll likely get the S3!
@@ViciDeum I own the 400i. I believe the Corsair actually outclasses the 400 in the scanning department. I haven’t read anything about the 400 specifically having good scanners, though I know it has the fancy scanning suite with planetary display. I have however read the Corsair is kitted with good scanners so our information on both ships scanning capabilities seem a bit limited at the moment.

Richard, I love this idea and agree the Corsair would make a fantastic ship to do it in! While other ships may have higher utility (medbays, etc), I doubt those competitors can leverage the features in as nimble or aggressive a form factor as this!
I suspect these ships will be highly profitable in that regard, as few players will want to pursue the risk of that engagement! And once you’ve made off like a bandit, feel free to bring over any of those goods to my merchant man 😉, I’ll happily pay top dollar!

Before that I was sitting with a Connie, a game package and just enough frames to keep playing every patch, but not enjoyably; even with optimizations, only around 15fps on 1080p max!
But thankfully, Star Citizen is a nice slow burn, so there’re plenty of time to prepare the perfect fleet and PC for launch! And whether Star Turtle or TankerTurtle, I’ll find good purchase with you my armored friend 😉👍
Great discussion of a ship that is second only to the BMM in my list of "gibs"... I would add some Avenger Warlocks or Vanguard Sentinels to the dedicated piracy squadron you envision, however. You'll need the EMP to disable the target after the shields have been taken down prior to boarding. Not that I would ever use mine for such nefarious purposes....

Idk why but I had to buy this ship the moment I saw it. I already have a cutlass black that I use as a multi-role ship but I feel like that ship is just sometimes not enough for my needs, so something a bit larger like the Corsair would be perfect. I can definitely see this ship being used a lot in the future.
I think you made a great purchase and the Corsair should suit your needs really well! Thankfully, the Corsair is also bigger than the Cutlas, so you get a different ship category with more combat armaments and exploration amenities! And there’s just something iconic about the Corsair that really makes it feel like home!

i plan to use my corsair to help our researcher and collect plant , animal or what ever , on the back for long range exploration a ursa or a ranger or cyclone MT but i also plan to experiment with it see if i can turn it into a nice heavy fighter this is one of the ship i wait the most with the perseus

Ha a purpose built exploration ship with no med facility. CI have really dug a massive whole with the medical gameplay. IF it was me every ship needs to have a med bed - its ridiclous to send anyone across at massive system with out. It definately needs to be available in more smaller crewed ships

I suspect careful planning and stockpiling medical supplies will be incredibly important in ships like this. Personally, I fully intend to explore whenever possible in a ship that has onboard medical facilities! I pledged for this bad boy. I really love both this and the MSR but they're so similar to each other, I don't think I want both. I'm looking for the perfect treasure hunt- I mean> "Amateur Archeology" ride... I like the way better combat capability, I just hope the flight model isn't too big a sacrifice.

Unfortunately you don't want to take the gimbals off the forward guns, as the Corsair doesn't handle well enough to hit anything but large targets without them.
That’s a fair point, especially with its slower handling!
Currently my goal is use my corsair as a PMC ship.
As stated, the Corsair would be a great scout / special mission ship. Ferrying troops and equipment to a drop zone, then supporting against heavier targets.
Would also be great as a combat "anchor", Something that can provide a base of fire while also being able to keep up with heavy fighters and the like: Think of it like a machine gun team for an infantry squad.
Another spookier mission set that fits along with Bounty hunting / Piracy would be privateer charter work.
A team of guys needs to recover a ship? Trying to steal something? or a ship? The Corsair would make a perfect "wheelman" ship to pick up or drop off in sketchy situations.
Maybe a bit fat for stealth though.
I think those are some excellent uses for this ship and I agree that it will fulfill those role especially well! Last I heard was less agile than the Connie. I'd love the size 3 and will probably swap from my MSR to the Andromeda over this as with her being Drake her shields probably won't be great and the Connie does just fine for me.
It’s quite possible that the Constellations may end up being more agile, but I’d be rather surprised if that ends up being the case, as they’re notoriously cumbersome, even compared to larger ships than it. But it’ll definitely be a formidable gunship either way!

I sure hope not, the Connie isn't anywhere near "nimble" as is. If the corsair is somehow even less maneuverable its going to be DOA.
@@OldManShoutsAtClouds The Connie does just fine for agility I've found though I always fly her fully crewed. The corsair will probably be balanced through her mobility and shields. Got to have a downside for all that pilot firepower after all as well as encourage turret crewing

The Corsair makes a really compelling choice over the Andromeda, if you don’t mind giving up a bit of cargo capacity and the snub fighter! And yes it should be available for pledge during IAE! And I suspect somewhere right around $240 will be where it ends up!
this ship was a hell no when i first look at it but 3.14 went live and i wanted to redo my entire fleet and now this ship is in my wish list. if it hits 350 then nope but if i can still pick up a CCU for at or near last sale price then yep

im waiting on my corsair. hoping the 4x biggest guns can be s5 fixed(which means slapping four redeemer gatlings on the front) and easily dealing with erts no problemo. if thats the case then it has the edge against most connies. in fact all of them considering the andromeda(and all of them) will lose a weapon when losing an engine. im suprised the hype for this ship isn't more because it will become the best ship you can fly solo
I agree and think the Corsair will make waves once it’s introduced in the verse! And I personally suspect it’ll out DPS the Connie lineup but while offering less internal protection (no escape pods, possibly less shields, etc)!
@@ViciDeum best case scenario the size 5 hardpoints are actually s5 hardpoints. but considering you get an extra 2xs4 hardpoints, i have a bad feeling the 4xs5s and 2xsi4s are gimballed. even so you can create a gatling monster. but yeah even if its all gimballed the DPS easily outclasses the andromeda
I think most people forget you can put size 5 on the connies plus they have a snub fighter as well. So no need to bring a carrier if you go a long way where the smaller ships can not go. Like 315p has not the same range as the connies or the Corsair. So they need transport or some bases to refuel. Same goes also for the mantis, shorter range than your long range corsair. And with this pyro you need some backup from fighters from this liberator or if possible a snubfighter like in the connie. But granted i do like the interiour of the corsair better than the connie, you can see that this "next gen" ship. Still imo both seem to be excellent ships and i think the corsair should get the size 3 shield like the connie.

I agree, I think you’re going to be limited in the set up I mention with the quantum range on those ships. I suspect when operating in Pyro, you would likely need to operating a traffic area with a close means of turning those goods into profit!
And I think you make some excellent points about the Constellations as well. They are an excellent ship (albeit in need of an aesthetic overhaul), and probably account for the majority of my flight time in game!
I’m afraid their current sluggishness could be problematic if added into a more maneuverable pirate fleet, but I can potentially see their inclusion in a set up like I mentioned as well! And if they resolve the clipping issues with the lower guns, I believe the constellation was meant to be able to equip 4S5!
@@ViciDeum It was indeed 4x size 5, but at the moment due an design oversight, its now 2x size 5 and 2 gimbal size 4 max. That is unfortunated but it is what it is. The connie was not always so sluggish are you might remember, but due some feedback of some of the community it got nerfed. I personally they should take this mass in account if they want to make a ship sluggish or not. Because that should be the stat that influences how sluggish it is or not. Now you have ships with a bigger mass that handle better than the connie. I have no idea why that is, but again it is what it is. Also apprecitate your answer.

I fell in love with the ship for a while during 3.13, but it’s definitely taken a back seat after the 3.14 balancing. I still think it’s a great multi-role ship but it’s definitely outclassed by larger ships in my fleet, and really does handle much worse than many ships much larger than it!
if you put 4 AD5B and 2 AD4B to this ship, you can remove one face of 2x Large shield in under 5 seconds (based on current balancing) this is insane.
Can’t wait to see this, a ballistic build on the Corsair is going to absolutely SHRED!

Hey Arachnied, yes unfortunately with the majority of these concept ships the information we have primarily comes from the sales brochure! But given the role of this ship and that brochure, as well as my gameplay I suspect this will end up being more agile than a Connie!
I’ve also been flying the Connie since it was first released in-game, and so I’ve had a long flight history with it. The Connie currently flies and has traditionally flown significantly heavier than it’s class, often seriously underperforming in agility against competitors.
The trade-off though, is that you get maximum utility aboard, having impressive firepower, a snub craft, cargo, living quarters, ejection pods, an armored Hull, and more!
But ultimately we will have to await its release in-game to see how it all ends up working out! And thank you for taking the time to watch this video and drop a comment, I really appreciate your engagement!
I love StarCit, but this ship looks so much like the Trooper's ship in Star Wars : The Old Republic that I just can't get excited. (Specifically, the nature of the asymmetric wings)
It really does have some old styling designs that are very reminiscent of Star Wars ships; although I think that’s exactly why I like this ship personally! But I can definitely see how it would be divisive and definitely not for everyone!

72 SCU of cargo isn't lot. I'm curious therefore how big this ship is, it's presumably substantially smaller than the Carrack despite being exploration too. But that's good, we want variety and difference, not clones with different skins.
Offensively it blows the Carrack away, especially what the pilot has at their disposal.
This ship is currently slated to be about 5 m smaller than the constellation series for some size comparison, so the 72 SCU is rather robust for its class! The Corsair is much smaller than the Carrack, although I do suspect that it will grow a little bit larger by release, but not too significantly!

Can't wait for this to get in game. Your combat analysis seems a bit off though. You are assuming you can use all the remote turrets as a pilot for one. Also, you are thinking that the Corsair will be maneuverable enough to fight the small escort ships that come with the HH and larger bounty missions. But besides offensive weapons, we need to see what it gets for shields. The redeemer just threw a big FU to just about ALL small and medium ships when they somehow gave it HH levels of shields. 1x S3 on a ship smaller than a connie would have been good. Valkyrie gun boat/drop ship comes with 2x s2. I mean WTF were they thinking with the Redeemer? Either all ships need another shield at this point, or they just need to make the redeemer a bit more sensible. It has the same shielding and same forward facing fire power as a damn HH, yet it is like 1/3 the size. They just keep putting bigger guns and bigger stuff on ships making this less of a skill game and more of a big ship always wins game. Then the funny part about the ares is that they were supposedly envisioned to take on capital ships, yet the range of their s7 weapons is the same as the s5 weapons on the redeemer which has 185,000 more shielding and double the hull HP as the ares. So basically the redeemer has the same range as a capital fighter, 3x the forward facing firepower, and like 15x the shielding and hull. Remind me again which is the capital slayer?
Going to take my corsair and find a secluded section of some moon and live out my days away from all the nonsense.

But I agree, I have no idea what they were doing with the balance on that ship! Hopefully with a few more iterations and some community feedback will be able to get all of these back in balance!

From major cities, to Orison, to the Xenothreat event I was able to have smooth frame rates and a really great experience, never dipping below 30 FPS even under heavy loads on 1440p and while recording. I average 60-80 FPS but that’s improved even more with 3.15!
If you want a great example of my ingame footage, take a look at my Scam Citizen (Parody) series. They’re gaming music videos, but do a great job capturing some of that in game footage with a Clickbait title to drum up a few more views haha. But they’ll give you a good idea!
And I run a 10700K, 3070, 32Gb DDR4 @4000 with a 980 pro nvme ssd (with a 970 ssd dump drive) and a 750w Platinum PSU out of a Corsair Air 540 with a Corsair AIO CPU cooler 👍

Any reason the MSR isn’t in that running? I’d imagine it would make a nice competitor in that category depending on your intended role. But between the 400i and Corsair it’s a hard pick. I think it will come down to whether you need to bring the firepower that day or not haha.

About msr: i Have it As a starter:D it Will be my early hauler/data running ship definetly. I like the look of it, how it flyes etc.. Its basicly SC milenium Falcon And for me curently most pretty ship in the game (released ships) but the BMM Will be a huge competition:) anyway if youre alone 400i Is better in case of DPS, Fully crewed Is another Story And in that case i would bet on msr due to Its perfect turrets.
About the right pick i Have to decide what i want to do, if Its a piracy the Corsair Is the right pick, huge dps for a pilot, but i suppose IT Will be slower And less Agile And you can put Ursa or roc in it. But those turrets on Corsair Are pretty much uselles sadly, unless they Will do some rework And i dont see that my corpmates Will be enjoying using them in the state how they Are presented;D but we Will see
400i Is more like stealthy exploration ship, 42 scu Is enough for Its role, 2*S4 guns And tons of missiles Is also not bad. Large shield Is a huge advantage And Its little bit less slower than msr So in this ship you Are able to pick your targets And if you meet something stronger you can run with ease And anything which Is able to catch you are mostly smaller ships which Will get demolished by those turrets at the back..
For hauling And combat i Will Have other ships like MSR or BMM.. but i want one exploration ships because i melted my carrack due to Its limited sólo capabilites if youre flying alone youre basicly huge target yelling hit me..

@@TheMrAtmospheric Yea its ironic that the Connie was originally billed as the Milenium Falcon of Star Citizen, given how far its fallen from that role! Especially when their dedicated explorer (the Aquila) doesn’t even have a hot plate for its crew!
But thankfully we have the MSR to satiate our Star Wars thirst in that department, and it definitely doesn’t disappoint! But that’s awesome you own one, I was initially confused why it wasn’t included on that list.
But I see your dilemma, especially when there’s so many viable options within that category of ships as well. And I’m curious to see how those temperature controlled rooms interplay as well. There might be some interesting exploration or high value gameplay loops there!

That is a good rule of thumb, as they’re often the last thing to be updated in concept ships and definitely aren’t 100% indicative of the final product haha.

It makes a really good competitor for the large multi crew ships like the Connie’s. And unless they continue with that small jump point sizing, I’d see little incentive choosing a Freelancer over a Corsair!
@@ViciDeum a few things could make some one chose the Freelancer over the Corsair like fuel consumption, price, turn speed but Freelancer just has so many flaws as is and the Corsair is looking like the answer to all of them

They’ll likely be more agile, and especially in the case of the Freelancer MIS, I think there will always be special case uses where a Freelancer is more preferable. But I agree, I think they are going to be edge situations, and it does look like the Corsair offers a number of more compelling alternatives the majority of the time!
The only ship that could compete with the Corsair is the “Scimitar” and would sell like wildfire if CIG would pull their heads out of their **s and build it.

Weapons will get a. a nerf!
While I think this ship will find its proper balance after release, I don’t think that it will lose the majority of these hard points, as Drake has a history, even with its released ships for this purpose; the Buccaneer and Cutlas black being prime examples!
