I got that Old Grand Dad at a Black Friday sale at Liquor lineup here in Vegas for 99.99. BTW this morning for the whiskey club members he was giving the chance to buy a King of Kentucky for 399. It is on the random wheel of spin.
While you missed out on a bunch of amazing bottles, you no doubt snagged some amazing bottles! A frustrating month for sure with all the BTAC stuff, I too failed to land one despite building solid relationships…. it stinks…. But it is what it is…. With that, I’m sure you will continue to find good fortune and keep on finding some amazing whiskey! 🥃
Man, you had an epic haul! It’s been pretty good in socal this year, I’ve had the best allocation season yet. I missed my total wine grand reserve event due to work but stopped in a random store while I was on my lunch and scored an Old Fitz 10 for 189.99! Cheers my friend!
Right there with you on the haystacks. I was able to try a little of the Cypress Craft pick and a local corona liquor stores pick and both very enjoyable, not enough for 140 personally though.
I don't know that I would have done any different. It is a bottle that you haven't had yet but you have had the others. The price maybe a had pill to swallow but I'd say enjoy what you have that most of us will never even see. Great video!
Picked up the Old Elk Cigar Cut at K&L for $30...Infinity Blend for $40...and Rye Rum Cask Finished for $20...they sold out pretty fast at these prices!
I actually saw you at Hi Proof on Black Friday and TW Brea the other day for the GR event. I was 8th in line at Hi Proof and left with a Coy Hill. Somewhere around 30-40th in line at TW Brea and scored a Michter's 10 Bourbon (which was a surprise since their list had the 10 rye listed). I think relationships can pay dividends, but they're expensive and no guarantee. I like the way one person put it: "I want a relationship with my wife, not the liquor guy at Von's". That's not to say if you frequent a place and get to know someone organically, that isn't a great thing, but I'm not going out of my way to sweet talk or grease the palms of some dude on the slim chance I could probably overpay for allocations.
It's not what you did wrong with stores....it's the game. These stores have so many built in loyal customers, to break through and get a high end bottle is tough. The stores in my area don't even hook up folks that go on barrel picks with them! So if those guys aren't getting anything....I don't know who is!
I don’t know anything about that specific bottle, but I will say that every Rare Character I’ve had so far has been outstanding! The Exceptional Series certainly was, and more recently I picked up a maple finished rye that’s delicious. All that being said, I personally would have picked up the CN-B or RR15, but that’s only because I don’t have either one. Don’t beat yourself up. I’d say worst case scenario is you should be able to break even if you have buyers remorse and trade, or you get to enjoy an extremely rare and very likely excellent bourbon to celebrate your next special occasion. 👍
What an impressive month David!! Hopefully that 15 year will taste amazing for that price. I was able to get a RR15 at a black Friday event. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations Whiskey Panda 🐼 and also to the other winners 🏆 🥃
Really great haul! And thanks for walking us through your torture and pleasure. ;) My haul was small and not that eventful, but I look forward to getting into it nonetheless... Ben Holladay Rickhouse Proof, Redwood Empire Grizzly Beast and Redwood Empire Rocket Top.
Another great vid David. Thanks for sharing your moment of weakness haha, when I started collecting I had a similar experience overpaying for an EH Taylor single barrel. I've taken a break buying whiskey for the holidays but I couldn't resist when I saw a Bomberger's at safeway the night before thanksgiving. Cheers and happy holidays!
Nice haul. I also passed on many bottles you passed on - too expensive for what they are. Like you I had a very good month. Russell’s reserve 15, Bookers reserve 2024. Bookers Infinite, Rock Hill Farms and an Elijah Craig 18. All at or near MSRP. Looking forward to your bottle haul reviews, especially the Brook Hill.
Quite an impressive haul David! Love the support you are getting from the whiskey companies. I think you need to start emailing Buffalo Trace and next year they might send you a BTAC promo kit. I’m curious on the Southern Collective bottles. Been seeing them more and more. I’m just happy to get the Coy Hill and RE Haystack
I picked up Haystack Needle for $115. I wanted the first Haystack with their own juice. I was lucky to win a JD Coy Hill lottery and picked it up for $79.99.
Quite an impressive haul David! Love the support you are getting from the whiskey companies. I think you need to start emailing Buffalo Trace and next year they might send you a BTAC promo kit.
Hey, you lucked out with the Rare Character! I live in Bardstown and cannot find the bottle anywhere! Unobtanium! Fortunately, I had it twice now and it's absolutely amazing. You have the new Coy Hill...it blows that bottle away. It's deep, dark, rich, flavorful...and smooth for the high proof. Consider yourself lucky, my friend. I will buy it off you if you are having second thoughts!
I hope you enjoy that Brook Hill. Just don't be too hard on yourself, your wife will give you enough grief. I got 2 Nerds & Terds Gene's Wheated Obtainium 1 Larceny C924 1 ECBP C924 2 WT Rare Breed 1 Eagle Rare and a few budget mixers
Congratulations on the Southern Collective bottles! I have visited them in Nashville a few times and have 3 of their bourbons. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Barell 2025. I really like the New Years 2024. Nice bottles gifted to you! Generous of you to give some away. Brookhill 15 😳
Good seeing you at HiProof on Black Friday, David! I’ve tried the Brook Hill and it’s very good but I wouldn’t be a buyer at 600, I prefer the rye over the bourbon. Personally, I would trade it for something else or try to find a sample first before you open yours. Cheers and happy holidays!
I got lucky and scored two Coy Hills for 95.00 bucks each. Looking for the Redwood Empire Haystack Needle! I’m enjoying a pour of my Presidential 8yr today:)
Wow, great haul!! I ll wait for your review of the Bookers b4 I open mine. I paid $10 more, but I typically like Bookers. I was able to get this year's Coy Hill for $78. That was a insane price for a Cigar blend. For that price I might have bought a case😅. I also acquired Bardstown x Lore. I haven't opened it yet. If or when I do I ll throw up a review in the discord. $600, wow!! Fomo got you bro. And you know nothing about it!?! After passing on some of the bottles that you did for the price point to spend $600 on the unknown. Rare Character is pretty much guaranteed to be great, but no whiskey is $600 great. I wonder if your wife knows what you did. Lol. Gr8 vid as always, cheers
I hauled about 4 coy hill 2024, 133.9 was highest proof I got. Couldn't score GTS 2024 at msrp and ended up with $700 damage. I got the Bourbon Lore Bardstown collab. Also, got CN-B at SRP; too similar to WT-12. Older/better WT-12. Regret spending $300+tax.
It appears you guys do pretty well in California I've been dealing with a company called Remedy out of Glendale and I've been very pleased thus far, I've dealt with Total Wine a couple times while traveling and was pleased,we have Binnys in the Chicago area and if given the chance id recommend them all day every day.
Every time I see those bottles at Hi-Proof, they were sold out. It is frustrating. Maybe I am not their good customer yet. I have only been there 3 times so far.
I went to a Wall 2 Wall liquor store and got there at 5am to secure 6th in line, but that store decided to have "gift" boxes to purchase and took a chance on bottles from Caribou Crossing to Russells 15....and guess what i got? You guessed it...That horrible Canadian bottle....Did i mention it was 15 degrees
Hey, I got the first brook hills at that hiproof event and you got the last one. I though worse case scenario, I can trade it for 1 coy hill and 1 rr15 and some $. Really wanted the coy hill but lucky I didn’t get it, because half a month later I found it at Costco for 68.99 . Anyway, waiting for you to open the brook hills and review.
Good thing come in waves it seems. A lot of superb bottles this month for sure. I think it's great that you share your good fortune with the whiskey community. All those BTAC and Pappy bottles are just way too over priced. There may come a day where the plants align and the relation building pays off, then you'll be glad you were patient. You know me, a hundred dollars (or just a bit more) is my limit. I have been able to find more than I can handle at or below that price. But love hearing your reviews on all the outstanding bottles you have acquire. So keep them coming my friend. Ps. Decadence as you know was one of my "fomo" bottles last year... just OK. Don't do the Fomo thing anymore. Lesson learned. ;-]🤔 D
For this allocation season I only got Elmer T Lee at $55. Regarding the $600 bottle I hope it’s good. I really do. And tell all the stores that didn’t do right by you I say F them. It just shows there’s no point to loyalty.
The MSRP on EH TAYLOR Barrel Proof Rye is 77.81. I picked one up at Costco in Moreno for 77.81
I definitely wouldn’t have passed on another chance to get the Russell’s 15 again. But we love and we learn my friend.

Over all great haul!
This was the coolest video- I can relate and wonder why I don’t get the BTAC- however- we are blessed- thank you for sharing

Nice meeting you in person. Hope your back is okay 👍🏼
I love the haystack needle. They’re pulling the grains from the Sacramento area now. Super good. And just scored a coy hill today for 68 at Costco.
Wow - I have heard amazing things about the Brook Hill! I think that was a good call! Thanks for sharing!

Love this video…. Glad to know i’m not the only one passing up whiskey…😂
Love the transparency on this channel! Cheers from SD🍻
I feel you, David, I have the same 1st world problems lol. It's sketchy as hell to gamble on a secondary markups unless it's unicorn. Cheers bro!

Southern Collective samples.... let's get together.
November was a great month for you.
Love the format of these videos, so relatable to my thought process of whiskey shopping

that nashville rye from crest is so good

Brook hill 15 year hazmat is basically a hazmat purple top - definitely going to a center piece above even the BTAC!
600.00 bucks!! Nice bottle with great reviews! Maybe if you rub the side of it a genie will come out in a cloud of smoke:) it has great trade value!
I just tried the new coy hill. Honestly it reminded me of the sbbp picks…. Just me.
I think that's what it's supposed to be - those sbbp picks turned up to 11
Id do that brook hill too lol. True unicorn
Great haul video! Bin on the OF 100!😂 I hope you enjoy the Brook Hill. Better you than me. Lol🥃
I hope you enjoy that Brook Hill. Just don't be too hard on yourself, your wife will give you enough grief.
I got 2 Nerds & Terds Gene's Wheated Obtainium
1 Larceny C924
1 ECBP C924
2 WT Rare Breed
1 Eagle Rare and a few budget mixers
I missed a King of Kentucky at my local BevMo this morning by three minutes:(
Comment first, Play next :) Always finger crossed.

Around Denver the M10B isn’t enough value to get a coy hill.

sounds like EHT BP Rye was a good PASS ~! $30 Elk Cigar Never heard of the BrookHill thing, Def a gamble Can't wait till you spin the wheel !
Passed on $599 GTS and $399 for Handy too but it had me thinking...
I've heard great things about Brook Hill. I don't think it was a dumb decision...🤣🤣🤣
I had to trade an Old Carter AW batch 6 to get a Russell's 15yr, and I'm happy!
Great videos brother, love this channel
What is a value you would pay for a 2022 William Larue Weller? I have JD Coy Hill 2021 and it's fantastic. Great review..

Man you're great damn funny - I love the self-deprecating humor "Oh - I made the dumbest whiskey purchase in my life...."
I passed on all of these. Wait, I haven't even seen these in the wild😂
For this allocation season I only got Elmer T Lee at $55. Regarding the $600 bottle I hope it’s good. I really do. And tell all the stores that didn’t do right by you I say F them. It just shows there’s no point to loyalty.
It's definitely not wrong for brands to release young expensive hazmat whiskey. It's wrong to purchase it.
Coy hill > michters 10 imo
Its your money, ive spent money on alot worse and still itches
