I don't think I'll be reading Wheatley's novel, but your video prompted me to follow through on my desire to read The Magician by Maugham. (The Painted Veil blew me away). So I thank you, however obliquely.
Maugham is an under appreciated author nowadays, IHMO. My favorite novels are The Razor’s Edge and The Moon and Sixpence. I should probably reread The Magician someday. Of Human Bondage was pretty good too.
I really enjoyed this as my first Wheatley! You made me giggle when you said “OH, does Rex like Tannith.” 😂 I really need to watch the movie. My audiobook has the great Christopher Lee. Crow-ley, right? Where’s Allen? He has a catchy phrase for Crowley. ✨🔮
I am a huge Wheatley fan. First read this as a kid, when I was maybe 8 years old or so. The Devil Rides Out remains one of my favorite novels.
I think this was a good place to start from everything I've heard. Thanks Bob.
I’m adding this to my really long list!
Thanks Chrystal.
I read The Devil Rides Out a few years ago.
Thanks James.
Just finishing this off myself. I chose this and Carnacki for my pre-1960 week
If we do Occult Detective October next year, I pick up Carnacki.

Thanks MJ. Glad you enjoyed it! I was tempted by the Christopher Lee version too, but I think it was abridged.
@@anotherbibliophilereads I just checked it was abridged at 6 hours and 29 minutes 😂😂
