Well done JJ.

Well done JJ
a sub par experience, not the love letter they hyped it up to be. thats for darn sure.
I like how they combined 2 previous ideas for RE4 into Pesanta. U3 being the obvious one, but it’s also a nod to an older build of RE4. The hallucinations it gives Ada is undoubtedly similar to the hook man demo for the original game where Leon is also having hallucinations of enemies that aren’t there
Absolutely loved writing and editing this. Stayed up all night 😂. This story is FAR deeper than it appears to be ❤❤❤
And it showed... been waiting for your take on Separate Ways and you delivered. Thank you for the fine forensic on the complexities that is Ada!
Great job enjoyed it.
@@hughgeek5592:)
Thank you, stranger.
Ada needs her own game, I literally started it today and omg I love how it’s quite stealthy and her combat is so good.
The DLC is own her game on a seperate ways. It feels like playing Batman Arkham City with Ada Wong. She uses her signature weapon the "Grappling Hook" She has kinda the same moves as the bat
@@christophermichaelclarence6003 actual full length game, like over 5 hours
@@mohammedhaque7508 For a DLC, it's pretty decent. Best so far compared the previous ones
The Main Game with Leon is at least 9 jours max. It's Godamm so long
@@mohammedhaque7508 i beat it first try in 1hour 50 minutes it was defintely not 5hours lmao
You must have rushed it that's why so stop the 🧢.
This DLC was simply just AMAZING. I can't believe it was only priced at $10 too. SO WORTH IT 🔥
Totally worth it. The DLC separate ways is most likely going backwards with Ada 😁
And with some new areas that haven't been explored
Was as good as RE3R, and way cheaper
The 10 dollars was definitely a "thank you" to us
@@chingvang9320 It's lame. Always same area
Shouldn't be priced at all, like the original.
I doubt that we'll ever get another RE dlc that is so masterfully done and complete as this one
It was a damn good DLC. A true RE 'B Scenario' experience.
That's for sure. Imagine of the RE2 remake A/B scenario was like this. This is even a better B scenario than the OG RE2 one imo.
@@iketurner8212
True, but I blame that more on time constraints and less resources than when RE2R was made. Worlds of difference there.
@@LongTran-kp3kz
I'd blame it on the devs not taking note of the fact that OG RE fans cared about the A/B scenarios. I think the devs were kinda shocked at the backlash from fans because of it, that's why they put something together real quick before they released it. I don't think it was a time and less resources thing.
@@iketurner8212
What I meant by the less time and resources thing was with the OG RE2 and why the A/B scenarios back then felt so same-v. Back then, it was more of necessity than anything else.
What I was saying was that now, in the present or at least when RE2R releasted, they didn't have that excuse to stop them from making something more along the lines oa distinct yet interconnected modern and updated A/B scenarios like we got in RE4R and Separate Ways R.
RE2R wasn't like RE1R in that the point was to just redo the game verbatim with the aim of making it the 'definitive' version. RE2R was more of a reboot of the series to fit more modern gaming trends. To which, I agree, they didn't take into account the feelings of the fanbase that built its popularity as much as they should have.... the height of which being RE3R which, while being a good game on its own, sucked as a proper Resident Evil game if you don't purely look at sales numbers and such.
RE2R just got lazy imo in its approach to its narrative interconnection. A point brutally highlighted by the sheer awesomeness that was the new Separate Ways that not just improved the original version, but filled in a lot of the blanks of base RE4R's base campaign.
If nothing else, Capcom is learning....
But anyway, they better stop with the remakes already and just move on ffs.
...I wanna see Chris retire and pass the torch on...
..Or more Jill. Like, not RE3R Jill, but a proper post RE5 Jill.
Or maybe more Jake. I really liked Jake's character.
@@LongTran-kp3kz re2 remake wasn't planning for B scenario at all, added later and it shows
Loved how instead of merging the other verdugo with Salazar they make him one in the same as U3 which was brilliant. That fight was a doozie
*her
The black robed Verdugo is female, she was the housekeeper of the castle before being transformed
The red robed Verdugo who went after Leon was male
@@SergalCheeseHead I'm sure either way she is an It by this point. Even Saddler made that clear in the original
I just finished Separate Ways and it was amazing! The length was great, certain enemies were a surprise, great lore, just everything was 👌🏽. Cannot wait to play more and I wonder what RE game will come next.
If they remake 5 next I really hope they bring back the horror and puzzle elements to make a completely different experience.
It's incredible Ada should have her own resident evil this dlc made grew up on her too much I respect capcom they did amazing job with these remakes
A whole game dedicated to Ada would be a great idea I’d love to see it!
I second this. I like playing as Ada just as much as leon
I really enjoyed playing much as Ada compare to Leon. It's her signature weapon, that differs.
Her "Grappling Hook". Really useful to keep your distance from foes.
Above all, she has the high ground
Just like Batman Arkham City
That Black Robe plaga demon is straight from Depths of Hell. Nightmare Fuel. Its so friking scary

💯
I can still remember during my first playthrough, repeating, "She's so cool."
As if I didn't love Ada enough. Also, I love that what they cut from Leon's campaign, they gave it to Ada's which was fun.
One correction (or rather, nuanced revision) to my statement at 13:04:
While Wesker does end up having access to Krauser's body and (presumably) therefore LAS PLAGAS (the superior species that allows one to retain their mental faculties),
he actually does NOT have direct access to The Amber itself, and this has huge implications.
It was written in "The Amber: Research Report #14" that Krauser's powers were actually awakened by experimentation using the influence of the sample of The Amber WHILE IT WAS STILL DORMANT/SUSPENDED.
The FULL extent of The Amber's potential is still unknown, as it still has not yet been injected into a host directly, despite imbuing Krauser with exceptional power while still sealed in its ampoule.
Another instance of The Amber influencing and strengthening the effects of las plagas is when Luis hands it out to Ada, and she touches it; her convulsions are thus amplified, strengthening the effects of the parasite that Pesanta infected her with.
When awakened (which would presumably occur when it is injected into and binds with a human host), it is heavily implied that The Amber's abilities would certainly surpass those of Saddler's and Krauser's.
This means that WHILE Wesker presumably has access to las plagas by the end of the DLC (albeit from a host that WAS also remarkably influenced by the dormant Amber),
he is NOT on a level playing field with Ada, who walked away with THE AMBER itself, again dormant and implied to have currently unharnessed levels of powers.
The file "The Amber" also suggests that unlocking its potential is the only way to "counter Saddler", which may very well be used by Ada in prospective future entries to "counter Wesker" and his supposedly lesser version of plaga he has access to through Krauser.
Just something I was nerding out about.
Thank you for your insight as always! You make me realize things I never would've thought of.
I love how this time around it feels like a proper campaign rather than a little side diversion. Can’t wait to play it for myself!
One possibility to why the price point is lower than it should be for this DLC, is that some content is from the 'cut content' list; there is already a whole entire boss fight that was from the OG re4 for Leon to fight that was cut in Remake, but showed up in Seperate Ways. This could have been deliberate on the developments side, and explains why we got Separate Ways so soon and at such a low cost.
Developers should take note. This is how make a DLC with a kick arse female character, they respect the IP and the fans. Really enjoying this DLC. In fact I prefer this to the RE3 remake. Great time to be a RE fan.
On my second play-through, what a great dlc and cheaper than I thought it would be. Shout out to the ROE team
Now, capcom should Focus On RE1 Re-REmake
The fact that this $10 DLC had more content, effort and polish put into it than the $80 RE3 remake. 😑
This dlc was hell of worth the 10$ the remix of the original games ost are fantastic/ save room theme ada’s theme serinity theme it actually felt longer than I thought ps cool to see beggy is back
So not only was it pretty much as many feared to be just a collection of cut content from the main *campaign the original dress ADA fans clamored for wasn't even there. Not sure who they had on the design team but it was a Spanish/Spaniard dress for ball room or stage dancing not the china town court jester. TLdr, the main issue with this is that it wasn't DLC more than it was like a level cut out and sold back to you that could have been included in the $60 experience day one. It still suffers from bad choices and even worse censorship thanks to Sony more than anything else.
The OG is still better
Unironically.. THIS
This was a great DLC, the only thing that I can agree with is the dress sucks.
My only problem is I won't want to play as Leon again in the main game 😅 Ada is great!
Finished it today, great DLC. Separate Ways has shown me, that I really do want another RE1 remake with the new RE engine Wesker. And of course a Code Veronica Remake. And a RE5 remake.
A full collection of remakes with Wesker would be amazing! I’m not usually desperate for remakes but the Resi remakes have really impressed.
The only stumble was the Resident Evil 3 remake
@@AussieDadAndrew Believe me, it still hurts my soul. RE3:N is such a special game to me, it could've been my favourite remake. I haven't touched the remake in two years. Got the platinum trophy and moved on.
@Mindwalker030 I am hoping they do a remake of 0 and 1 before they do 5
If they do another RE1 Remake, I think the best compromise would be have a new RE Engine-version of the first game, which then has the 2002 remake (or specifically its 2015 remaster) built in as an unlockable bonus. It would be similar to how the “Metroid: Zero Mission” remake has an emulation of the original “Metroid” built into it as an unlockable bonus for beating the game.
That way, Capcom can make their new version of RE1, which is more stylistically consistent with the more recent remakes and finally allows the canon ending to be recreated. Yet it would also acknowledge that RE1 was already remade previously and not treat the older remake as something to just be ignored/forgotten.
Update : S+ All characters All Maps to unlock Leon's RPD
Isn't it just S+ for all maps not characters?
Yay finally get to see your work! Great job my dude 👍🏻
😊
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Krauser initially mutate due to the Veronica Virus, according to Darkside Chhronicles?
Correct, but that detail is from the original continuity rather than the remake timeline. We still have yet to see whether or not the remake continuity will somehow incorporate events like this from Operation Javier (it's been suggested as a DLC previously)
The DLC is amazing and its a definite 10/10. I also hope this leads to a remake of Code Veronica or RE5. Great review as always Beggy.
The DLC is amazing indeed. I almost finish the game, just to deal with Lord Saddler again.
I vote for RE5 remake
:) CV or 5, I'm so down.
Thanks for the review yal! Xoxo
😊
It's freaking incredible and exceeded my expectations. It took me nine and a half hours on hardcore and never felt repetitive even when compared to the main game, most locations take place on the outer perimeter and it has its own boss fights. 10/10
I'll never forger playing and seeing the U-3 walking out of the smoke and transform, and just being in "awe", at how gruesome it looked in the RE Engine. Great DLC. Loved it.
it's up there as one of the greatest dlc of all time.
Wesker getting Plaga from Krauser is alot like how the T-Veronica Virus from Steve Burnside body in Code Veronica
A mastermind always has back up
prl 412 weapon is still missing :(
with the pesanta disappearing in a dark cloud, the bluish flames indicating enemy attack, and the spiral staircase, i thought it was all just call backs to 3.5. Nonetheless, its all very awesome!
I definitely think there was an intentional nod to 3.5 with the bluish flames and hallucinations of a deadly apparition.
ROE - yes, more of this, please!
😊
I just got the RPD outfit from mercs, it looks really good in game
There could be the debate as to whether or not this should’ve been a free update considering that Separate Ways has been included in all versions of RE4 post-GameCube release. Or perhaps that is just my initial reaction? Either way, I didn’t waste any time shelling out for this DLC as I was eager to dive in.
Despite my initial thoughts, when you consider an average first playthrough could take 4-5 hours, $10 is a steal and well worth it. Also consider that same amount in many other games will just net you a skin, or horse armour. Or a quarter of RE3make.
I wasn’t too bummed out by missing content from Leon’s side as Capcom had been doing that for the last two remakes anyway, I figured it was just par the course for them. Maybe because I hadn’t played the original in so long, I couldn’t even remember what was cut - except for U3 and the gondola/cable car ride. In hindsight, I’m glad that Capcom withheld certain scenarios from the original RE4 to make Ada’s new separate ways unique and re-contextualise events. This also allows Ada to make the most of her skill set and equipment, and I love it!
I didn’t believe RE4 needed a remake in the first place. But now that we have the complete RE4make package (assuming Capcom don’t add any extra surprises), I honestly don’t know if I can go back to the original.
Pesanta also equals an interesting revival of scrapped RE 3.5 content.
And yes, MOAR REMAKE LUIS CONTENT!!!!
He's honestly my favorite side character in the game, and yeah, I like how they paly off each other's evolving characters.
I've played RE 4 a few years ago & only once... I don't remember the details... But what I'd like to know is, was Seperate Ways a paid DLC back in the day as well?
No. It was in the game after first playthrough. After finishing first playthrough will unlock 3 mode: separate ways, ada the spy, and the mercenaries.
@@harrywu4 Thanks for your reply. That's what I thought. Then how come ppl accept to pay for what used to be free??
@harrywu4 If I remember correctly in the GameCube it wasn't at all and it was first released on that console. If you wanted to get the free Separate ways you had to buy the game again on a different console just to play it therefore Separate Ways wasn't " free " in a way
Yes I would like to seen more of the video Thanks for the video I Love ❤👌👍

Great review, Beggy!
You made me realize those similarities between Ada and Pesanta that I didn’t noticed while playing. And also it’s done not only in notes and cutscenes but gameplay too 👍
I think this is the best dlc I’ve ever played!
RE4R was great and awesome but now with the release of Ada’s campaign and complete Mercenaries mode I can confidentially say that this full package is a masterpiece of game design! 👍👍👍
P.S. Love your editing 👍
Thanks!! Yes, it's a very layered narrative. I LOVED editing this one, so thanks again 😊
When Assignment Ada ??
They got RE4 Remake RIGHT, and then some... It hurts that 3 and I'll even dare to say 2, didn't get the effort put forth like this game did. Let's keep the momentum going Capcom!!
This game is goty for me 🔥🗿
EZ
Loved it, the storytelling and mechanics are fantastic, Capcom knocked it out of the park, the full Re4 remake experience was amazing this dlc just made it fantastic.
I can’t believe this $10 dlc had more playtime, depth and replay ability than the RE3make.
Just started the dlc and wow I'm amazed
Fantastic video!
:)
I dunno.. Ada doesn't seem like she is in control of anything. The OG Ada Wong was a Feminine Fatalle. She is always in the upper hand of things even if it looks like she wasn't.
I just miss my OG RE4 Ada ;3
Leon approves DLC 100% 🫰🏼
Amazing DLC
Awesome DLC, they put so much context to the main story that was missing from the base game. It's a steal for 10 bucks.
Hope they Remake Code Veronica next time.
I've played it 3 times now. Going for that S+ rank soon and trying to knock out S++ on Mercenaries
@Beggy At first blush, it appears that Wesker retrieved Krauser's body as a sort of Plan B or ace in the hole in case Ada failed or defied orders (as she ultimately did), but upon reconsideration, I find myself wondering if perhaps Krauser was always Plan A all along, which is why he trusted it only to himself, and enlisted Ada for the less vital backup plan in the event that his primary goal wasn't achieved. Not only does he appear unfazed by her defiance at the end, but he seems genuinely unsurprised and even amused, as if she behaved in exactly the manner he figured she would. Would he really entrust such a person with an all-important objective? I think not. She/we were always unwittingly on B Team to retrieve the Amber, but the real prize was to obtain a specimen that represented the successful integration of the superior species plaga (greater even than the one fused with Saddler) with a host, i.e., Krauser. In another comment, I muse about the possibility of there being one more DLC yet to drop. I'm more convinced than ever that we will have a Wesker DLC that will tie up all the remaining loose ends and feature the as yet unseen clips that we saw in some early RE4 trailers, and the unheard soundbites that we hear in the Bonus Content Model section. Thoughts?
So, two things:
1) I concur that Wesker entrusted her with this duty as an obedience test more so than to actually retrieve las plagas through her doing.
2) as stated in another comment, here's why I think Wesker, despite having that backup plan to access las plagas, may not actually have ended up "winning" in the end:
One correction (or rather, nuanced revision) to my statement at 13:04:

If this wasn't on my must buy list before, it is now. Good thing i already planned to get it.
💯
Hands down the best DLC we've received from Capcom and it just make me wonder what they're really planning. We all know RE5 is coming but I doubt that's all they are cooking up. What if we get a Wesker DLC so we can see what he was actually doing there?
This Resident Evil 4 Remake Seperates Ways DLC is absolutely amazing! IT IS SO SCARY, bloody, sick and lots of Gore. Got nightmares from IT. I love it
It was amazing , just maybe only complain was nooo battle against Krauser , I love how that made a bigger impact on what she could do
10 out of 10 for me
Does this make og re4 obsolete now?
Not even close
As much as I love DC Douglas' Wesker I think I like the new Wesker more. The old Wesker was too over the top whereas The new Wesker is calmer and more subdued but he still means business, plus he went out of his way to save Ada which I thought was interesting. He could've just left her to die and retrieved the amber himself or had somebody else go get it, but he didn't.
I loved it! I'm not crazy about adas' voice acting, but it was still super fun!
Agreed, though i felt it was overall better in the DLC than in the main campaign.
I finished my Hardcore run and went immediately into a Pro run. This is how much fun I had. 10$ for seemingly 20h of quality content if I do at least 4-5 runs.

Hot take: there's going to be one more DLC dropping for RE4. Maybe Luis, maybe Ashley, heck, maybe even one of the baddies (how cool would that be?), but I feel it's coming, and here's why: 1) We have yet to see (in game) that scene of a frightened Ashley running through the woods that we saw in early RE4 trailers. Yeah, you could write that off as simply promo footage or deleted scenes or whatever, but taken in conjunction with what else I noticed, I'm not so sure. 2) In Separate Ways, as Ada, we got to be on the other side of every one of Luis' calls with Leon that we heard in the main campaign _except_ for the one when he says that he "screwed up" and won't be able to meet Leon at the ballroom after all. How did he screw up? What happened? Even after Separate Ways, we still don't know. 3) In the Bonus Content models gallery, when you play the audio of Salazar flanked by the two Verdugo, we hear him say "Dearest master!" Nowhere in Leon or Ada's campaign do we hear him utter this. "So what?", you might ask. Well, that would make it unique among all the dozens of other models with audio clips. Literally every single other one has a soundbite from some part of the actual game. I take this to mean that this one's from a part of the game that hasn't been published yet and will be featured in some as yet unreleased DLC. Thoughts?
Ok. So serious question. I need everyone to look back in the past 6 to 8 years and think about the last time a dlc dropped for $10 and had just as many features and details as the base game has…I’ll wait
Absolutley worth the wait, enjoyed it thoroughly! Felt it was challenging in the right places and very story driven! I enjoyed Ada's character as well. Amazing work Capcom!

Amazing dlc well done. I want code veronica next
I want Wesker's side of the story. I want to see what he was doing, from planting bombs, retrieving his own samples, retrieving krauzer's corpse, etc etc.
I think there's a strong possibility we'll get at least a tiny Wesker DLC at some point.
@@BezoRazo I'd like that, because I find it hard to believe Wesker was hanging out on a ship, then some how able to sale into the shoreline, then track through the woods to intercept and save Ada.... The timing was not realistic, unless Wesker was on field the whole time doing his own things.
The Remake was OK. It seems to have an issue with Timing. Also, if Wesker is on field, why would he need Ada at all? Unless he has an equally important assignment.
Yes!❤
What an amazing breakdown ! The layers you opened about Ada’s character was amazing. You need more breakdowns, this was great !
:) Thank you, hopefully more to come!
I just want an RE Engine game where you play as Wesker tbh xD
That's called Mercenaries Mode.
@@phenomkrumper I mean like one with story - I already S++ every level with Wesker cause he's OP. Like rework that one Wii rail shooter into a not railshooter... or make a completely new game.
A feat that may or may not be repeated in the gold game? whether it is a remake or other stories, we know that our beloved Lor was destroyed with the passing of events before the eventual game in 2005, but can we see new results that may have been thrown in the trash rather than seeing actually good things come to light? So I try to believe, I hope that CAPCOM listens more to the people of its beloved game than to its own ego.
Great video...

Nice review. Well written and considered analysis towards the end, but feel like the last third of the video should have been saved for a narrative analysis video, feel like it went from a video game review to a spoiler filled narrative and character analysis breakdown.
Thanks!! Yesh I wanted to try to provide a full review of the experience and a deeper lore dive towards the end. I didn't particularly feel like the rest of Separate Ways (outside of Pesanta, Luis, world-building lore additions, and Wesker additions) have enough new substance to make an entire analysis on, as the rest is very straightforward. I might try this format again (it's the first REAL "review" that I've ever really done).
