The Southern PS-4 pacific, it was the pride of the Southern Railway! Especially locomotive #1401. I have seen #1401 at the Smithsonian Institute and she’s a beauty.
Honestly KL? I did not know this existed for the east coast. At first? I thought it was something to do in the mid-west. This video? Has helped me learn history about this steam locomotive!! Thank you!
When I was a very young kid, the Crescent Limited always attracted me. I even made and painted a Ps-4 out of a shoebox and some toilet paper rolls. Back then I already loved trains, but - as I said - I was young and didn’t know too much. But then as I gained a couple years, I realized something through my research: the Crescent is - in my opinion- the best train on Earth. I still think that. I’ve always dreamed of taking the Amtrak Crescent just to see the route. And now, sure enough, the best 3rd party Trainz DLC maker has made one of the best trains to ever run in America. Steve, you’ve done a great job with the locomotives and the rolling stock, and I’m happy to say that I’ve been enjoying your Crescent Limited as well as your A&WP 290 for several months now. Keep up the great work! I can’t wait to see what you do next!
Same with me! I was attracted to it ever since I saw the advertisement for Franklin Mint's HO model! Now I actually live along the Crescent and have taken it to DC on numerous occasions!
@@jayo1212 I lay awake visualizing what it would be like to ride that route on nights when I can’t fall to sleep. I’ll get my chance someday, hopefully.

Just beautiful Steve I have always loved the southern all there steam locomotives were beautiful and i loved there designs of these locomotives and others compared to other railroads. The crescent limited is a favorite train of mine all heavyweight passenger cars is my kind of passenger train.

Interesting. I'm more of a British steam engine fan, but thanks to you, ThatsTrainzGuy, H & W38 and Smokey Mountain Steam, I'm beginning to love American steam engines just as much.
Noice Steve and Lerro! I really enjoyed the video! My favorite was when you talked about the beginning of the crescent limited using their first steam locomotives the Southern Railway PS-4s! I can’t wait to buy this locomotive in a couple of weeks if I have the time! I would also say that you’re the best Trainz modeler ever, my favorite, and best Trainz website that I have ever had in my entire career! And one last thing. If I had like $1000, then I would pay to commission you some locomotives that I want you to make like the Southern Pacific P-8 #2472, Union Pacific streamliners 4-6-2 #2906 and 4-8-2 #7002, Spokane Portland and Seattle 700, Western Maryland M-2 Challenger, Northern Pacific Z-8 Challenger, Santa Fe 3450 class 4-6-4 and 5000 class 2-10-4, Southern Pacific GS-1, Central Railroad of New Jersey T-38 Camelback, Pennsylvania Railroad Q1 Duplex #6130, Chicago and Northwestern E-4 4-6-4.
Very nicely done! The narrator remarked during the scene at the scrap yard that these engines were "infamous". I believe he meant "famous". Otherwise, the comparison of your artwork with actual photos was outstanding!
He is referencing infamy, such as President Roosevelt’s “Day that will live in infamy” speech. The infamous XXX is perfectly normal, just different to fame.
@@jacobwoods8738 Merriam-Webster defines infamy as "evil reputation brought about by something grossly criminal, shocking or brutal .". Roosevelt's deliberate use of this word is indeed appropriate as this was a shocking and brutal act by the Japanese. Bonnie and Clyde were infamous criminals for the same reason- they did things that were shocking , brutal and evil. I'm not aware that these engines did anything particularly shocking, brutal or evil, such as deliberately choosing to come off the rails and run people down (to be ridiculous). However, they were famous for many reasons, including the pulling of Roosevelt's funeral train. What might be considered infamous is the scrapping of these engines, save for the one at the Smithsonian. Hence my comment. As a wholly different aside, your "PRR FG-1" video is outstanding. Having a "what-if" locomotive and actually constructing it was brilliant.
It would be cool to see that engine run again. Steve your the man! Maybe one day the Institute will have some special educational program that will allow the engine to leave and run on the mainline for the museum. But 1401 needs to be mechanically restored while the cosmic side is in perfect shape since being inside for a long time.
