    I use this for my tree frogs. It works great, holds in moisture, but I put a layer of moss on most of it so there wouldn't be so much stuck all over my frogs. It's supposed to be safe to digest. Works great and it looks natural and fine in my tank.

    I love this stuff. I’m against sand for most reptiles (geckos, dragons, most snakes, although sand boas and SandFish are good with it), I’m perfectly fine with eco earth! And even mixing it with sand 50/50 or mostly eco earth is fine with me, reduces risk of impaction and won’t bother animals that actively avoid sand.

    Is this a good substrate to use on a rose hair tarantula? and is there a difference between the loose coconut fiber and the bricks?

      @ZooMed  7 років тому

      Yes, it certainly can be! For the best results, I would recommend researching your pet's unique natural environment and try to mimic it as best you can.
      It really comes down to storage preference between loose and brick. Loose can be used immediately, while brick should be broken down with water before using. Hope that helps. See our website for more info:

      I wouldn't use it as a primary substrate for Leopard Geckos. Doing so may create an atmosphere that is too humid for a Leopard Gecko depending on your setup. I would try mixing it with another substrate, or using it sparingly if you still plan on using it. Hope that helps.

    • @ZooMed
      @ZooMed  8 років тому

      Accidental amounts are fine, it's when it is actively eating a substrate (or any non-food) that it becomes a problem (this is typically attributed to a husbandry issue). However, when dealing with hatchlings and younglings, you do want to be extra careful due to their size and the fact that they tend to be messy eaters. Hope that helps.

      @@ZooMed It does not smell bad. But it smells like top soil. And I believe that's because a lot of it is top soil. Perhaps a Coir/soil mix. I just got my 100% Coco Coir in the mail from another company, and it smells completely different from yours. It smells nothing like dirt. So this answered my question. This doesn't mean something is wrong with yours, as its working great for my son's gecko! But I needed to use some for something different, which led me to the question of it being 100% Coco Coir.
