I was considering using coco fibre for the first since I’m rehousing one of my tarantulas to a bigger enclosure but I was also considering having a small ‘succulent’ plant in there... However since you mentioned it’s not very beneficial or helpful to plants, I might try to mix some peat moss or soil in there too.
Great video thanks for the information, I just subscribed to you!

Had humidity at 60% heat was on point, but day he died I did up his basking spot from 110 to 120 and gave him a big concrete brick to lay on because he was climbing and hanging under the uvb light. Savannah's are tough man. I've never kept a monitor but I've read and learned alot keeping other reptiles. Have you ever seen Clint's Reptiles review of Savannah's? He talks about how challenging they can be, and about how the husbandry isn't quite there yet when it comes to knowing and meeting all of their needs. I applaud anyone who puts the time and energy into caring for any reptile. Especially one that is so often discarded or mistreated in such a blatant manner as Savannahs. I'm sorry about your loss, it's hard to lose any animal.

Is there a way I could do this dry? I need a dry version of this as substrate, take a hammer or something and have at it and rip the rest apart by hand?

After I hydrate the Coco fiber it takes FORVER to dry. I put it in a ventilated box and it's still wet. I can't dry it outside because maggots appear within hours. It's becoming a problem.
Just realized I probably used too much water even though I followed the instructions.😒

My monitor lizard bit me for the first time. While this may sound not good I'm very happy because that just means that hes not unhealthy hes very active and not lethargic.

Ya know I haven't tried any dollar store or discount/off-brand Coco substrates. It's dirt cheap as it is from reptile supply. I'd just as soon support my supply company of choice
