I like the old hearthstone cards and the early tournaments they had. Very fun to watch. I prefer the time when the cards in HS were not as ridiculous in terms of value. They went a little overboard in the later expansions.
I thought the same thing. Idk why he didn't play that. he would have reduced that damage and done additional damage or destroyed a creature in the process.
That is very true. But you cant blame Kripp. He is against a Warrior. He was saving it to destroy an Arcanite Reaper or something. He probably didnt think it was worth taking out a 3/1 weapon.
Out of the 5 matches, the winner was always the one going second. This clearly shows that there is just way too much advantage on the second player. * He gets the coin (which is too powerful for different reasons) * He gets an additional card (besides the coin) on his initial hand. * He gets to shuffle that additional card. (which makes it a lot likelier he will get useful cards to play on early game). * He gets to respond to anything the opponent plays. (with one of the many low-cots board cleaning cards) I understand that they needed to nerf first player advantage... but Blizzard clearly over-did it, and now second player advantage is huge.
they could have made the 2nd player for his/her 1st turn to have charged minion! no coin, just IF the 2nd player gets a 1 mana minion he can play it and be with charge! that would be better than all the advantages given now!
Statistics do not bear out your hypothesis. Statistically going first is still better and has a higher winrate, much like chess, other card games etc. Hearthstone has balanced the 1st vs 2nd better than most games like it, which is quite a feat tbh. Don't take my word for it tho, look up the stats and you'll see that I'm right. Anecdotal evidence like one BO5 isn't adequate to demonstrate your hypothesis that going 2nd is superior... Some decks like miracle rouge obviously do benefit many times
im guessing that the guy tapping on his shoulder is talking to him before he taps to see if he can hear him, as the commentators are talking out loud through microphones about what cards the players have in their hands.
he's telling him when he can use his mouse to replace cards and then confirm the choice for the sake of the viewers and that commentators could explain his choice
I can't believe TB won't cast Hearthstone again! He said this one time he did it was "so terrible" that he wouldn't do it anymore, but I thought he was good. He makes intelligent conversation about the way the match is going, he's got that great SC2 announcer's voice that translates well into Hearthstone, and he gets really into the games, which is exactly what you want in a caster.
I agree that he didn't do badly, but people don't like him as he's pretty bad at HS, so people don't like him talking about the game. I don't blame them.
DeeJayYZ013 I've seen casters that are good at Hearthstone, but do a lousy job casting because they can present it well. Artosis is a prime example of that. He's pretty good at the game, but his casting on his King of the Hill series is sometimes laughable at how many plays he misses and people like Trump that are pretty good at analyzing all the plays have dull monotone voices for this kind of casting. TB isn't just good because he has a good voice or that he's familiar with Hearthstone, he's good because he cares about the game and when he feels excitement so does the audience. Besides that game Kripp played against Reckful where Reck missed lethal and TB didn't notice there weren't any glaring mistakes he made casting in this tournament.
sullgass Some people just would rather have a pro's opinion, I prefer Trump to TB, due to the fact of his calmer atmosphere of trump's stream. Where he evaluates all of the plays he can think of and where you have enough time to think of the play you would make in that situation vs. what Trump would do. I can see why people want TB to commantate though.
I like TBs voice and all but man his understanding of the game is pretty poor. He just seems to be too many steps behind the pros in terms of plays and always mentions plays that no one would ever make, almost just to fill airtime. Granted Artosis is the other end of the spectrum where he is so unengaging and uninteresting to listen to, but you can't expect to cast at this level of skill with TB's knowledge. I liked Kripp's casting at WC but I know he irritates lots of people, I guess it's just personal preference
Its a TCG. That's just how it is sometimes. A lot of it comes down to deck construction. The players will typically put in only what they need for their combos and hope for the best after a few turns.
dovis99 The person who screen-capped this must have left their microphone on and you can hear them talk and rustle around. Not a huge deal, but slightly annoying
lol on those portrait pictures, Kripparian looks like someone from Niko Bellic's past, and Artosis looks like someone who's soon going to become an italian mafia boss, but isn't old enough yet to be one.
MrThomasappel Overthinking, and it was 3 months after hearthstone was in CLOSED BETA, yes, in closed beta, 3 months after the game went into CLOSED BETA out of the devs hands, they had no idea how is this game played
Had to mute the video, these two commentators are just so annoying, they obviously don't know much of this game. And they can't even calculate the simplest moves...
Nicklas Roed Didn't know that, but even so, it's still hard to figure out a good reason for why those 2 guys even try to act as if they knew how to play HS, just ruins the otherwise interesting soundtrack.
Dgames Of course of course, but it will never be evenly balanced, especially since so many of the game's mechanics, are built up around luck. In a game such as Warcraft 3 the things that involved luck were very low, and in starcraft, there were no things that involved luck. But in this game, there will always be someone who won because of luck
Nikolaj Toft Holm No, heathstone is special. Many cards are dependant on luck for the outcome, cards such as mad bomber, or arcane missiles. But yeah what I'm getting at is that card games will never be fair, some are just less so than others
There is luck involved in every game. Hell I would argue that luck is involved in EVETYTHING. From the situation you are born into, to the situation you die in. Luck is involved.
Even if Kripp healed back up to 4 with his truesilver and got lucky rng with Ragnaros hitting the argus, Artosis had 19 life and Equality + consecrate to clear the board so he probably would've won anyway
The matches were amazing, but the best part for me is the end of the video. "Don't go anywhere... the World of Warcraft..." *more than half the audience gets up to leave*
I'm a little confused to as why krip would hit the minion in that situation at 20:34 because if he hit face with true silver he would have four health and ragnaros would have a 50% chance to hit face and 50% to hit the minion which would save him from consecrate. If rag hit face if the guy pulled consecrate he would die from minion and consecrate but if rag hit the minion then the other guy could clear the board with equality consecrate and even though he didn't know he had equality he should have expected it to some degree. What do you guys think
I like the game but you can't have a tournament on hearthstone there's just too much luck involved. a completely unskilled player could have won just by drawing into ideal cards
If people buy into it, then why not? Its like saying that you cant have Poker tournaments because the game is based on pseudo-RNG and prediction. Also, "unskilled" is a bit odd to use in this context. Skill in every game is relative to the game itself. "skill" in Hearthstone seems to be centered around intelligent construction of your deck and the general game knowledge from playing a lot at a high level.
Poker and hearthstone aren't exactly similar games. You can create a perfect shaman deck then go up against a mage and have it be completely useless solely because of a mages powerful spell cards. The card limit of 30 cards in a deck makes it hard to create a deck which can adapt in game. Each class needs to have the abilities of others as well like giving all classes healing and aoe abilities but obviously ones not as strong as the classes specialised at them. You need ways to counter things like flamestrike and consecration and fireball and mind control and shadow words etc etc or else it comes down to which class has the best game changer not which deck has been built the best.
So wouldn't that come down to the actual balance of the game rather than luck? You're arguing two different things right now, and neither of them are correct I feel. What you're arguing with your most recent post basically makes it out to where you feel that the ONLY way the game could be balanced is if every hero had the same access to each card as another. Then what would the point of heroes be? Each class currently DOES have access to Aoe. BUT EACH CLASS DOES SOMETHING DIFFERENT. Shaman is primarily a buff deck while utilizing the overload mechanic to help them clear the board. They can give Windfury, +3's for days, +2 health, Heals, Taunts. and they also have access to Lightning storm and forked lightning as their dedicated AOE, and an idiotic amount of single target removal spells/battlecrys. Not to mention Hex. Compare that to the mage who is basically centered around spells (odd i know right?), they have board clear, single target removal, debuff, and a bit of mull. AND THAT'S IT. They have access to one, ONE, self buff minion you could play in any situation (mana wyrm) that realistically is a simple problem for any opponent with a brain to deal with. Not only is your argument one sided, its completely devoid of any knowledge of the game or how deck construction works. TCG's don't function like Starcraft or Chess. You don't cover for your decks limitations or weaknesses. You try to make your strengths greater. If you're running an aggro heavy deck, don't worry about taunt. If you're running an AOE mage deck, don't worry about buffing minions. Not all games should be chess. Don't treat things with disdain because you've had no success within the game itself.
Well everyone who signed up before the 16th of september is guaranteed to already have been sent a key. If you were late, do not dispair! You are still guaranteed to recieve a key sometime in January.
If he had drawn truesilver champion, consecration, hammer of wrath, or lay of hands, he would have won that game. He had x2 of each and hadn't used any of them yet. In fact it would have been lucky if he DIDNT win (I've only seen the first match so far)
The background audio makes this unbearable to watch. I saw it live, but wanted to see it again. There's no official archive of it like last year's, forced to deal with bootleg quality videos, ugh. This would be the best archive without the mic recording both the speakers and background noise, but alas..
+SpookeyClown He pulled a card that won him the game/turn from the top of the deck. In other words, he had nothing in his hand to deal with the situation and the card that he drew from the top of the deck saved him.
Who is the guy behind Artosis who keeps giving him the thumbs up during card selection? What the hell is going on there? ... 9:08 , 23:32 , 32:31 , etc.
TB's commentary was legenary and made the matches legendary.
I like the old hearthstone cards and the early tournaments they had. Very fun to watch.
I prefer the time when the cards in HS were not as ridiculous in terms of value. They went a little overboard in the later expansions.
Welcome to every card game ever
glad someone posted the entire finals, thanks alot
"Kripp a man of few words but many cards". I frowned.
krip not oozing at 58:39 lost him the game
Bryton J. Wood why didn't he ooze wtf.
ikr he was prob saving for a bigger weapon or he didnt see it
In hindsight, Artosis was really lucky.
In hindsight Kripp fucked up because he didnt play ooze
beautiful piece of gamer history
Feels like if Krip had played his acidic ooze on the turn when Artosis had his 3/1 fiery war axe, he could've won.
I thought the same thing. Idk why he didn't play that. he would have reduced that damage and done additional damage or destroyed a creature in the process.
ParaVet
I felt the same, but I'm not an incredible player myself, so I dismissed that thought. D:
He 'would' of won.
TheZombieMasta
Close enough.
That is very true. But you cant blame Kripp. He is against a Warrior. He was saving it to destroy an Arcanite Reaper or something. He probably didnt think it was worth taking out a 3/1 weapon.
anyone looking at this now to remember the good old days??
Omg the HYPE on that final match was incredible, I was NOT expecting it to come down to the wire like that but it was an awesome game.
OMFG KEVIN, YOU ARE ALIVE! I miss you and IPL :(
i LOVE how tastless is the first to run over. hahaha brings me so much joy
Out of the 5 matches, the winner was always the one going second.
This clearly shows that there is just way too much advantage on the second player.
* He gets the coin (which is too powerful for different reasons)
* He gets an additional card (besides the coin) on his initial hand.
* He gets to shuffle that additional card. (which makes it a lot likelier he will get useful cards to play on early game).
* He gets to respond to anything the opponent plays. (with one of the many low-cots board cleaning cards)
I understand that they needed to nerf first player advantage... but Blizzard clearly over-did it, and now second player advantage is huge.
they could have made the 2nd player for his/her 1st turn to have charged minion! no coin, just IF the 2nd player gets a 1 mana minion he can play it and be with charge! that would be better than all the advantages given now!

is there a beach in the background? i hear waves
i guess when he started recording, he forgot to turn off his mic lol
Why no ooze kripp?= (
Why was there a guy tapping Artosis on the shoulder during the start of the matches? Like at 23:40 he doesn't do anything until tapped on shoulder.
im guessing that the guy tapping on his shoulder is talking to him before he taps to see if he can hear him, as the commentators are talking out loud through microphones about what cards the players have in their hands.
he's telling him when he can use his mouse to replace cards and then confirm the choice for the sake of the viewers and that commentators could explain his choice
That consecrate top deck was fucking sick...
If he had just played that spellbreaker on his Defender of Argus the turn before he would have won without that card. I wonder why he decided not to.
MadHatter
How would that have won him the game? You can't silence the exhaustion (the Zzzz when minions are played), can you?
NotOfWomanBorn No you can't. Spellbreaking the Defender would have done nothing more than getting another minion out.
Another minion would have meant 4 dmg next turn.
tb: "sitting on very strange cards - TWO circle heals and TWO auchenai soul priests - very strange cards!"
ROFLMAOCOPTER
Krupp is so chill all the time 😹
ever watched his stream? hes always like that
damn kripp... so close
OMG!!! What a final. That was legendary! :)
Some say the salt still accumulates at BlizzCon every year.
God TB love the sound of his own voice
This final was very good, other matches in tournament not so much
wow kripp would have won if he played the ooze ouch :(
The Title is spelled wrong...
Well seen :p
hearthtone is amazing tho.
Sounds like a MLG tournament
lol is it offense to you?
Your language offends me!
Why is there a sound like waves in the background?
Yeah I was wondering too. The reason is that this is just a record of stream. Not an original copy.
it sounds more like cars driving on a wet road i think :D
Ah, the guy who recorded this off stream had his mic open... Well that is kinda...
Zithon, I Make Let's Plays! Neeeeorrro!

Because even professional players need help by the justice of dice to beat professional cheaters.
***** What...
why? the concecration on 1st round? if he hadnt got that out , he would have lost!!
It's a card game. Ever heard of poker?
Nice match!
that photo finish honourable sudoku such manly very kripp
Top deck consceration -> "THAT WAS A FANTASTIC GAME!"
Thanks for uploading! One thing though, maybe next time turn off your mic during the recording. Either way, you got my sub.
wtf are u talking about
dovis99 The person who screen-capped this must have left their microphone on and you can hear them talk and rustle around. Not a huge deal, but slightly annoying
Kripp is so awkwardly shaped, and hes a freakin giant! lmao
I love that guy.
turn 6 play from artosis on game #3 was a misplay for sure. he sacrifices total board control to krip for just gaining a tiny bit of health
looking back then... Dragon Priest was already a thing^^
"AND HE'S GONNA DO IT! HE'S GONNA KILL HIMSELF HERE!!"
1:02:25 Forever alone ): ):
aaaaahhh those were the days
Artosis finally won a blizzard tournament.. but it wasn't starcraft lol
The audio is great...
RIP reckful/ Total biscuit, hope no1 else gone in 10 years
wait, is that totalbiscuit talking over the match? :P
funny never seen his face xD
is there any possibility to see a list of the decks?
I feel good knowing that i'm not the only one who destroy the map in the other player turn
**spoiler**
GG
I did want to see Kripparrian win... but it was a good match :D
take care everyone!
Thanks for uploading!
I love the choice of clothes on Kripp's side. Casual wear pants and a sweatshirt XD
lol on those portrait pictures, Kripparian looks like someone from Niko Bellic's past, and Artosis looks like someone who's soon going to become an italian mafia boss, but isn't old enough yet to be one.
What the fuck was kripp thinking... why didnt he play ooze... it would have won him the game. There was absolutely no downside to playing ooze :\
MrThomasappel Overthinking, and it was 3 months after hearthstone was in CLOSED BETA, yes, in closed beta, 3 months after the game went into CLOSED BETA out of the devs hands, they had no idea how is this game played
5:03 is it just me or is Kripp a giant?
Versace Seal
Also noticed. He is.
am i missing something...how can they not hear the 2 commentators???
Noise canceling headphones with the music cranked
Had to mute the video, these two commentators are just so annoying, they obviously don't know much of this game. And they can't even calculate the simplest moves...
Keep in mind, that the games was almost just released at the time these matches occured.
Nicklas Roed Didn't know that, but even so, it's still hard to figure out a good reason for why those 2 guys even try to act as if they knew how to play HS, just ruins the otherwise interesting soundtrack.
HenriqueRJchiki "there was no good commentators" - Exactly, that's the reason I had to mute this video...
4nlimited3dition
Omg how true. For sure noobs would do horrifyic better way.
I just don't think Hearthstone should be a professional game, there's too much luck involved in the game mechanics

OMG! Last game was epic!
ARTOSIS IS SUCH A NERDBALLER I LOVE HIM
"Well i didnt bring any orange juice"
I swear to god, if TB says "ideal" one more time...
F for TB
wow I never knew what total biscuit looked like. I pictured him as a young mature British guy with a top hat
OMG, Kevin was casting something!
lol i love krip and artosis , they are like total opposites
Who's casting?
is that totalbiscuit?
I'm a little confused to as why krip would hit the minion in that situation at 20:34 because if he hit face with true silver he would have four health and ragnaros would have a 50% chance to hit face and 50% to hit the minion which would save him from consecrate. What do you guys think
Why didn't he play Acidic Swamp Ooze D:
hey on the first game, why didnt artosis want to spellbreaker the ragnaros? it seemed like a good option imo
so it can attack for 8? what's the difference?
Artosis top deck king.
kripp not playing ooze cost him the final. :O
Thanks for the video, but this has horrible sound with the mic and cars
Wow kripp is both way taller and thiner than I thought
Классно,хорошая игра.
Is there an Artosis Pylon in the game? :P
Kripp has legs?
Am I the only one who see Artosis as a pretentious bad guy and Kripp as the good one ?
Do you watch any GSL Starcraft 2? The guy's super nice and intelligent.
Greetings from nearly 3 years later! Artosis is one of the nicest and funniest guys in esports.
Uh. Yes. You're the only one.

Haha good games indeed... Got quite close game 1 and 5... Both going to Artosis in the end:)
I want a BETA KEY BLIZZARD. And when does the game is full released?
lol this comment reminded me to check my email and there it was lol.... after long wait xD
they ve sent keys to everyone who signed for this before 16.12
Separiiii yeah I checked my email today after waiting like 2 months to get into Hearthstone. Turns out I've been in beta since Dec. 10th. D'oh.
I just signed up last week and I still go a key.
Well everyone who signed up before the 16th of september is guaranteed to already have been sent a key.
If you were late, do not dispair! You are still guaranteed to recieve a key sometime in January.
wonderful games~
Kripp on the stage! bask in his glory!
Should i buy heartstone?
its in beta and is gonna be f2p
Artosis luck more
well paladin have quiet a few damage deal cards and artosis didn't drew any for that first duel, its really kripp's fault for going that low
If he had drawn truesilver champion, consecration, hammer of wrath, or lay of hands, he would have won that game. He had x2 of each and hadn't used any of them yet. In fact it would have been lucky if he DIDNT win (I've only seen the first match so far)
Wow, lots of luck involved
51:05 that backround trolling
If kripp threw the ooze he would have won :(
I wonder how things would have changed if Ooze had been used...
The background audio makes this unbearable to watch.
I saw it live, but wanted to see it again. There's no official archive of it like last year's, forced to deal with bootleg quality videos, ugh.
This would be the best archive without the mic recording both the speakers and background noise, but alas..
who is the dude that always goes to Artosis when he deciding his first hand? o.O
Didnt they win any money?
Omg :/ If Kripp had dropped the Ooze he had a 100% win !! :/
Mind Control was fucking 8 mana?!?!?! Wow it breaks my balls at 10...
This was awesome.
Clicked on the Video - saw TotalBiscuit... hell yeah! :-D And Kripp is... Kripp lmao as always xD
What do they mean by "top decked"?
+SpookeyClown He pulled a card that won him the game/turn from the top of the deck. In other words, he had nothing in his hand to deal with the situation and the card that he drew from the top of the deck saved him.
+Nate Padilla Thanks for that. I hear these types of terms all the time and never know what the hell they mean.
No problem. I used to be in the same situation.
Shoulda used the ooze, curse you value!!!
Who is the guy behind Artosis who keeps giving him the thumbs up during card selection? What the hell is going on there? ... 9:08 , 23:32 , 32:31 , etc.
dat troll face though 51:58
they got the same headsets...why? ._.
Provided by blizzard, they're supposed to be noise proof in order to make sure that neither player can hear what the people are saying.
Thanks!
