Today's furniture makeover is my daughter's desk that is covered in paint. Watch as I transform old wooden desk top into a marble countertop using TotalBoat epoxy. Epoxy countertops are so much fun and a lot easier than you might think. You won't believe the after on this furniture flip.

Idk why but everytime I see someone start the veining process I get worried but somehow it always turns out amazing. Great job!!!
🤣 It can be stressful. You can't want to control it and it always turns out. It is magic.
Your work is the closest I've seen to the real marble. I have two antique pieces of furniture and it is better looking than them. I like the less grey like you did.
WOW, MOST BEAUTIFUL CLOSE UP VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET!!! BEAUTIFUL WORK.
Your daughter is one lucky lady!! Such a beautiful makeover!
She is so excited! Love working with you and your products!
@@ChristinaMuscari 😍😍
This turned out so much prettier than other faux marble finishes I've seen, although I was stressed watching this, following detailed directions is critical. I groaned with you when the surface dried too quickly, and then the paint peeled off!! New paint color is lovely! It seems like it would be pretty expensive for resale flips in terms of cost and time, but for this application, it was worth it!
GORGEOUS! I've got the itch to try it & need to find the nerve to cover my kitchen countertops! 🤯😂👍
Did you do it 🫡
What a beautiful desk for your daughter!!! The marble top is absolutely gorgeous!!!! I'm sure she LOVES it!!!!
She does! Thanks for watching.
Excellent tutorial video. Not too much just enough. Sometimes I hear blah blah blah when people go on to much lol(adhd). It looks amazing. Your daughter is blessed to have a mommy like you.
Holy moly!! That is beautifully done! Lucky daughter. ❤
😊 thank you
Use Stone Coat Epoxy. Your open time is way longer and you can use the heat gun tot warm it up and get bubbles out. The dresser turned out so Cute! thank you for sharing❣
You can also use their Ultimate Top Coat (UTC) and if you choose matte your surface is ready to use in 24 hours, it is nearly indestructible. I used it on my countertop and walked on it a few days later with no ill effects. (I needed to clean the top of the cabinets.)
@@lauram1208I’ve purchased their black granite kit to redo my bathroom counter. Fingers crossed. I’ve never done this before.
I really appreciate tht you cover your mistakes, makes me willing to try things knowing they can be fixed
Glad to help. Definitely have never met a perfect person. And, yes, almost anything can be fixed. Mistakes are how we grow!
Man, you are so talented! I am not sure I have the courage and talent to do this ! I love watching your videos!!!
Thank you so much!
That came out so beautiful ❤ definitely need patience, but the end result was worth it!
Yep, patience was key on this one. Got frustrated but pushed forward. Thanks for watching!
I love how you are so transparent with your flaws. We all have them and I am SO glad I am not the only one. When you poured your paint I started to laugh because that is ME! Your work is beautiful and inspiring. Keep it up.
That’s so beautiful. I love it. So encouraging. I’m a total novice trying to update my very old home. Thanks this is helpful.
You can do it!
Really great finished product. I hope your daughter appreciates your effort and talent. Maybe some day she'll have such talent herself?
Of course another great video, I love that you show us your mistakes. Great job
Hi, greetings from the UK! Fabulous transformation, one of my favourites. Thank you for sharing your skills and knowledge.
Beautiful! Thank you, also, for showing your mistakes and how you fixed them!
Any time!
Wow! This looks amazing! I do like that you share when your plan has to be adjusted. This is where learning comes in and allows all of us to benefit. Love this updated shade of pink for your daughter and of course, the marbling is stunning!!
Yes! Thank you!
just beautifully done, and I have to say that because for me watching it was so intense ! I was very nervous for you but you carried on producing a magnificent piece. Thank you very much. Valerie
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! Amazingly beautiful transformation! 💗💗💗
Thank you! 🤗
Wow that took a long time!! I would get discouraged but you kept going. I appreciate you showing the mistakes. We all do them but they aren’t shown as much
I love the sophisticated pink! Using the marbling sparingly makes it look so rich. Thanks for keeping the uh-ohs in. It really helps. Love all of your work!
You are so welcome. Thank you for watching!
Fabulous job of explaining everything you do and why. Great job on the desk!
Beautiful transformation. When pouring epoxy it is always a good idea to do a sample board first. I poured my kitchen counter recently and before I did I poured two sample boards so that I knew what the open time was as well as how the various elements would work together. I also used Stone Coat and liquid tints. Stone Coat has a 45-minute open time which makes it easier to work with and liquid tints give you more control. I tried mica powder and poured too much when doing a sample board, and although I thought I'd mixed it well I had mountains when it dried.
Beautiful upgrade, love it all the way around. Well done!
Thank you very much!
It’s beautiful. Looks amazing.
I use the lemon scent on my all of my paint brushes and it comes cleaner than anything else. Once clean I clean it with Dawn and water.
The gold goes nice with this pink color, which is great. Plus the top ❤
Thank you. My husband is doing our bathroom counter tops with wood and clear epoxy and even though you marbled you had some good tips for us.
Perfect! Sounds like a fun project!
Beautiful job! The epoxy process is so interesting! Props to you for just going for it!
Thank you!
It turned out AMAZING!!
Thank you!
I love how you show even experienced people can make mistakes but also how to resolve them.
100%. Glad you enjoyed it.
This is making me believe that I actually can fulfill this DIY on my bucket list!
It looks great!
Love love this! Great job!
Beautiful job!!!
I love the colors-!!!!!
Same! I used this pink on a dresser recently. I was glad I bought a gallon and could use it again.
That is so cute! It's good to see you restoring furniture , I'm sure your daughter is going to it ?
Beautiful update! I used a clear epoxy over a wood burned and painted coffee table top and I couldn't have been happier with the results. It's tough as nails and will protect the art table top for many years
Super cute! I just bought a little older table to put by my bedside and this treatment would be perfect for the top. I kinda want to try it!
Lauri, you should do it!
It’s beautiful Christina! Love love that top! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you!!
Amazing work ❤❤. Your daughter is so lucky to have you as her mom 🎉
Espectacular!!! Una belleza!!!
Gorgeous
It IS stunning!! Great job!
Thank you so much!
Love it!
Turned out beautifully. Thank you for doing this apoxy tutorial. I think you have convinced me to do my counter tops.
Awesome! Thank you!
What an amazing transformation! Love it❤️
Thank you so much!
Really cool!
Thank you love it!!
I'm glad you like it. Thanks for watching!
It turned out beautiful! I love the dusty pink you chose. I started playing with epoxy a few years ago. It’s a really fun medium to work with. My hubby and I did the table tops of our nightstands. They were stained mahogany so, we went with copper, antique bronze and rose gold, with splashes of burgundy and a touch of gold alcohol inks. We used Stone Coat epoxy because it’s really durable and has a very high heat resistance, almost 500F once it’s fully cured. A lot of wood turners use Total Boat, it looks like a great product too. We applied 4 coats to give it depth and we were very happy with the results. Mixing the epoxy really well and being aware of the working time are probably the most important aspects. Temperature and humidity can also effect curing times. There are a lot of great ‘how to’ videos on UA-cam, yours is definitely one of them.😊 Nice job!
Amazing!
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
Love it!! Want a new desk, resale desks all need work--and this is an excellent idea!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
So beautiful ! I just put faux marble through my kitchen and living room! This would be beautiful on my kitchen table!!! 🙂🙂🙂
Turned out stunning! But, OMG, so complicated…🧐❤❤❤
So Pretty!
Thank you! 😊
gorgeous
Great job 👍
This looks amazing! I was thinking about doing something like this for my desk. The top is painted white but it's all scratched up. I put a clear coat on it when I painted it a few years ago but it didn't seem to help. I think epoxy would be too messy as I don't have a place big enough to do it so I think I'm going to try that marble contact paper that I've seen other UA-camrs try. If it doesn't work, I can always try epoxy later. Hopefully my desk will come out looking as good as your daughter's desk.
Espectacular ❤️❤️❤️
Wow! ❤
so cute
Absolutely beautiful 👏🏻💪🏻😍
Thank you!!
I watched this on mute and totally thought the first view of the desk was the " after" . 😅
Looks like a confetti top. Lol
Which would be so awesome too.
I'm new to your channel and just bought my Country Chic paint and Zibra brush. I'm excited! Thank your for all your help. Happy Sunday!
My daughter will be happy that you thought so! 🤣 Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy your Country Chic and Zibra brushes!
Love it!!!❤❤❤
Thank you!
WOW 🤩 🤩🤩
Amazing
❤❤❤ the work you did on this desk! I’m asking myself if I have the patience to try the epoxy process, idk, lol! Your daughter benefits from your creativity! Nice job!
You can do it!
Wow that is just stunning, and that epoxy looks tricky...lol
I would love to do this on my kitchen counters. I don't know if I have the courage to do it though. Yours looks amazing!!
I love it. Great work I'm watching you from Egypt
Wow
Very pretty!❤
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful!!! I NEED some of your patience. 🙂
Thanks!
Turned out SO Pretty🤩
I’d probably Never do that. To much mess, but mostly Too Expensive!
Very chic and beautiful!!! I don’t know wether I have the courage to do epoxy though… to get the veins right seems very artsy…
You can do it!
@@ChristinaMuscari ohh, thank you so much for your encouragement ❤️I might try once I flipped some more furniture and feel more confident…😁
Wow! Beautiful.....but I wanted to see the after of that center drawer. I was laughing with memories when you showed the before.
The drawer looks brand new! Just ended up on the cutting room floor because of all the other stuff that happening in this one. 🤣
Well done! I want to do this to my bathroom but too nervous. I have all the materials to start. LOL
Reach out to TotalBoat customer service!
Nice
How nicely that turned out! I think I will just watch you rather than attempt to redo furniture.😊
You can do it!
I love how the desk turned out. I’m interested to know if that could be used on a tile countertop to get rid of the grout lines.
I'm not sure, but reach out to TotalBoat customer service to see!
I absolutely love the makeover! I’ve thought about doing epoxy to my kitchen countertops as a semi-permanent solution until I tackle my complete kitchen renovation. Currently there’s granite tile as a countertop & it drives me crazy but I can’t justify the cost of new countertops twice! Not sure how epoxy stands up in a busy kitchen with 3 teens so until I do more research I’m still looking at reasonable solutions 😅
Question… what heat gun did you use??? Thanks!!!
Too messy for me but it is just beautiful. Your veining is spot on.
It's messy but so fun! And cleans up so easy once it's dry.
This is stunning, but wow what a messy process! Hope your daughter is duly grateful! I've always been a fan of Simple Green and was happy they have a lemon scent now, but I looked it up on the EWG site and was shocked to see all their products were rated F! Not sure why they pass the EPA Safer Choice. Wonder what that really means.
I have a question about the spray gun. Is it easy to clean, take care of and any chemicals used to clean?
❤❤❤❤
I just might try it.
That was a LOT of work , but turned out beautifully. ❤
Yes it was!
❤👍
Looks beautiful. I'm wandering if I can use this over granite that's on my fireplace? It's brown I don't care for
I'm not sure, but reach out to TotalBoat to ask!
What was the approx cost just for the epoxy top? It definitely looks like a marble top. Also wondering how is it wearing. I have a bar it’s beautiful but looking for an actual marble piece. It has a tile top not loving it. Thought a piece of marble would look prettier. It’s a black shabby chic type of bar pottery barn style.
Looks amazing! When epoxy is mixed you have about 10 minutes of work time! 😬
Yep! Lesson learned the hard way.
QUESTION: In your opinion, could this hold up to bathroom use (vanity)?
It should because it is completely waterproof after it cures. If you do the marble, I would finish it off with a clear coat of epoxy. You can message customer service at TotalBoat for help, too!
How do i and where do i order sample kit
What's the temp in your workspace? I'm thinking heat was working against you.
Where did u get u expoxie
That looks amazing but are there instructions in the kit if you don’t have a heat gun? Getting the air bubbles out seems critical but couldn’t figure out how you would do it without the heat gun…
The marble kit I linked comes with a heat gun. You only need a basic one.
Is there a link for the paint? How would it do with a brush or roller as I don’t have a paint gun.
It's in the description box. It's available at Lowe's.
