"Through money, modern democracy destroys itself - after money has destroyed the spirit" (O. Spengler) . . . how true . . . how bloody true . . . In these days we live . . .
Indeed. If you haven't already, I would suggest Stephen Goodson's book, "History of Central Banking...". Provides a more in depth look into the financial aspect related to the decline of various civilizations throughout history.
***** You would blame liquid commodities? It is impossible to have large societies without money, unless they are to descend into widespread starvation and death from their own sheer stupidity.
***** Okay but you see, I agree with everything you just said in this comment. You were blaming money itself before and I disagreed then, but now you are blaming money-politics, and I definitely agree with that. Money is, after all, just a tool for efficiency's sake.
*There is no Pride, therefore there is no Shame* . We have conquered shame and guilt, not by doing good deeds, but by banishing Pride out of our lives.
Spengler never mentions him in his work, but Vico is the originator of the entire cultural relativist point of view of history. Read and understand Vico and you’ll see it corresponds exactly with Spengler’s model of history, ie pre-cultural period to the Age of Gods, early culture to the Age of Heroes, and late culture to the Age of Men.
***** Oswald Spengler saw the French Revolution as the beginning of the end of Western Civilization because it undermined previously accepted forms of government that ensured stability and perpetuity. It also paved the way for Napoleon, the prototypical modern Ceasar, who put the final nail in the coffin of Western tradition.
@Internet Entity Hot take: I'd argue that we already went through Caesarism back after WWI in the West. The West fell in 1914, and that was followed by a "Dark Age", of sorts. However, due to having more advanced technology and systems of communication,/transportation, it lasted only a quarter of the time that most previous dark ages have. Now, the "New West" is in the early stages of springtime. World War II is the creation story of Modern Civilization. We are currently going through an ideological realignment - we're trying to figure out what the spirit of modern civilization is, and that's what this whole "culture war" is really all about. Though America, as an empire, is fundamentally decadent (as part of its own, separate empire cycle; not civilization), the West is not in a period of "peak decadence". Decadence was at its height throughout the West perhaps about a century ago. The decadence that we see now are merely the snows of spring. Remember, the very first days of spring are often very cold, and winter weather still hits hard from time to time. But as the spring progresses, it will get warmer...
@@MisterCharlton you have wishful thinking, the western civilization is continuing to decay whilst no other culture is brewing to replace it, dark ages will come after a market crash, the economic growth of 1950s-2000s does not allow you to call that period as winter
MisterCharlton its mostly inefficient bureaucracies like the ones running our civilization now that are sowing the seeds of the west’s decline. And regarding technology if anything its because everything is so connected that the collapse will be worse than anything before it. The west actually has more in common with Rome before the fall in terms of decadence now than it did a century ago
"Urban rationalism sterilizes the culture through criticism" Thats a very important statement in my opinion.. I see that in our news everyday. Theres too many people who have nothing AND are too complacent to doing anything for themselves(to change their condition), YET THEY EXPECT everything. They want all the modern consumer products and quality of living that they see marketed to them everyday on TV, Internet etc.. THAT seems to be a strange by-product, exclusively of capitalism
@@bono894 Urban rationalism is basically criticizing everything. Good example is how USA is far better than most nations but the American feminists would somehow try to convince you that women are oppressed same as women in some muslim country. These micro aggressions criticism by the left we see in society today is equivalent to that.
@@bono894it isn’t that difficult dude. He’s referring to intelligentsia-type urban rationality. Like just put the two damn words together and use your brain for a bit. Or maybe look up the history of urban intelligentsia in the West because you don’t seem to have a clue.
Which goes to show nobody understands him nor Vico. Vico was widely known in higher academia even in Germany at the time of Spengler yet for some reason his work (though fundamentally identical in nature) was not outcast.
This book by Spengler was banned by US occupation army in Japan soon after the end of WWll in the process of WGIP( war guilt information program). More than seven thousands of books(mainly on world's history) were censored and banned. The huge volume of the verification of this process were already published by prof.Kanji Nishio( German literature, specialist of Nietzsche)
It's almost like a checklist!! In 2014 some of these things seemed far-fetched, now it's really materializing. Especially the "second religiousness" (critical race theory, diversity, climate) has really gone a LONG WAY since 2014. The only thing we have basically not seen yet in Europe is democratic institutions becoming paralyzed and the rise of Ceasarism. Some say Trump is a ceasar but I don't think so. I see him more as a reformer not as a revolutionary or dictator. So that is still missing, we still don't really have any Ceasars. On the other hand we are already seeing who already practising "private politics and control": Muslim Family Clans.
@Brandon _37 yeah , but honestly I don't know who to believe. On one hand there sure was some fraud. But was it so big that it affected 10.000s of ballots so that the election was in fact rigged and that in several states? Republicans did very well in Senate and House Elections (Actually better than anyone could have expected.). So one has to look at evidence. Most republicans seem to be quiet. Trump certainly has the right to a recount but the Courts will only go further than that if there is substantial evidence that the victory margin is in doubt at least partially due to fraud etc. As far as I'm concerned it's not going to be enough for Trump either way, but the election shows that the American ballot system is totally not up to date. There's a good chance that America learns from this for 2024, because otherwise all close elections from now on will be contested and no nation can survive that for long.
@@karlheven8328 Trump is just the beginning, he has sowed the seeds of discontent and weakened democracy by discrediting the election. From here on if his followers continue to push the idea that the elections are a farce the US will see real conflicts, future elections a mess. There is a saying that the true prophet is one whose prophesies come to pass. In that respect Spengler seems to be one of the true prophets of the ages. I love this vid every time I watch it. I present this to my Introduction to Philosophy students every semester in the final chapter on the meaning of life as progress in science and morals. One thing I like to point out is that the Decline of the West is not the end of the world. And like Toynbee said, we do not know what will remain when another civilization rises up after this one, what will be carried over we can not know.
alex marentes I am glad to hear it. We had a pretty good class this Spring. You might want to review by using Rick Roderick's lectures. You could probably understand them at this point. Don't stop thinking!
"There is a saying that the true prophet is one whose prophesies come to pass. In that respect Spengler seems to be one of the true prophets of the ages." At the risk of sounding rude, people's infatuation with Spengler and his "prophecies" is just an excuse for burying one's head in the sand and refusing to fight for truth, justice and refusing to admit one's addiction to the collective Zoo cage. Nothing is written in stone and everything is a test to separate the phony cowards from the truthful individual who refuse to be bullied by human parasites. Go after the perpetrators of 9/11, those who issue every $ bill with a debt attached to it, those who labor hard to demonize Islam and Muslims, those who create false-flag terror on a regular basis unchallenged...etc and you would have saved the West and the World. Unfortunately most people opt to go along with the certainties of slavery and obedience while claiming : 'it's prophecy !!!.".
Not rude at all. But it is a point of view. Spengler would agree with you, too. Reality doesn't excuse us from acting. Spengler's is the affirmation of life as it is whether the civilization is in Spring or Winter. Would you say you would give up if you were in Spring? We do not know tomorrow, if may not be like yesterday. But that we will die is a fact of life. Just as the plant has a life cycle we, as organic beings, have a life cycle. Perhaps the earth itself has a life cycle.
The cyclic view of history is something which all great minds come to conclusion to. Even the modern neo reactionary movement is technically a Modern day updated spengler's work. Ibn khaldun & even Hindu mythology shows us cyclic nature of history. Different yugas through Which civilization goes. Take a look how many countries are facing population crisis. This is going to be make or break situation. They would eventually have to implement policies to propagate traditional family in some way since they have more children but some nations would replace it with immigration & simply die. Becoming a caricature of the past.
All things must come to an end, even the West. It is preferable to make the best of what little life remains than to spend our twilight years searching for the fountain of youth and ultimately dying in a state of fear and regret. We will die, but until then, let's live!
The West already died. A new civilization - a new incarnation of the West - is congealing before our eyes. We're just trying to figure out what values will predicate its moral foundations. That's what this culture war is all about.
@@clone3_7 The West was dying before any of us were born and there's nothing wrong with that. Every Culture goes through its great cycle. Don't let that bother you. You can enjoy the twilight of this Culture and prepare your children to build the next great Culture. trying to save the West is like trying to save a wise elder way past his prime. Let him die with dignity, on his own terms. Don't prolong his suffering.
@@DrMetropolis Never go into a fight thinking you have already lost, even if the odds are stacked against you and especially do not give up if by giving up you do not save (or gain) anything. If you need to die, then die with your boots on. Imagine how very much different history would be if people would give up their struggle and lie down and die, because the chances do not favour them. This is exactly, what is happening. However it is happening, not because the West would be some "elder", no it is happening, because hedonism got to people. Everyone has too much to lose, they'd rather enjoy themselves while they can, even if this might collapse civilization. This is not how you die with dignity, this is death with selfishness at the expense of the upcoming generations. Infact it would be its duty to prepare the stage for the generations who are coming after them, instead it ruins them.
If we continue on this current course then yes our people will die out and our Civilization will collapse, but history shows that after periods of decadence and decline a revitalization or even a total renaissance can happen. There are peoples and civilizations what have survived for all of written history. They have gone through multiple periods of decline and revitalization. As the situation gets worse it will become exponentially easier to wake up even more people. If everyone of us starts to actively wake up even more people then we can easily wake up enough people that we can win political power in our own provincial governments and effectively peacefully secede and start re-industrializing and revitalizing our areas well before the big collapse. The lemmings who can't be woken up will continue following the lying controlled media and politicians straight off the cliff, but they aren't our responsibility. We just have to make sure we have won control of the local governments in the areas where our awakened people are the majority and re-industrialized and prepared our areas well in advance. If/When we achieve that then waking up people will become even easier as we can show that our policies work while the criminal Elitist's policies only scam, rob, bankrupt and destroy. After the big collapse the most important question will be should we accept the lemmings who caused the collapse by staying asleep like total fucking morons and voting the same corrupt Elitist criminal parties into power again and again and again ? Would accepting them back in sow the seeds of our next downfall generations in the future ? There has to be a point after what we have to accept that they really don't want to be part of our people anymore. That they knowingly choose to betray our people. Knowing we would never again accept them back in.
graham white I'm not as fatalistic. Yes, currently the average Western voter is an absolute moron and keeps voting in the most corrupt criminal Oligarchs possible. The person who backstabs and robs them the most is the person the media will tell them to vote for and they like lemmings follow. If we continue on this current course then it won't even take a hundred years for the West to totally collapse and die out, but people have a tendency to wake up when the situation gets bad enough. Also this fucking doom and gloom isn't constructive at all. Its an easy way out for the people too pussy to actually step into the arena and struggle for the survival of their people. If everyone in the Western World was like the average cowardly degenerate then the West would have died out thousands of years ago. If everyone in the Western World was like me then we would never die out, but would colonize/conquer over a hundred thousand solar systems. I'm so sick and tired of this fatalistic doom and gloom porn that "Nothing can be done. Our fate is to die out.". If so then I will fucking change our fate and replace it with a destiny even if I have to do it all alone.
After having read Nietzsche many times over the years, I've learned to stop quoting him, and just "keep him to myself". The only bit of Nietzsche I'd ever speak to publicly, was in Ecce Homo, when he proudly claimed the title of the greatest contradictor. Coincides much with his desires in Zarathustra to never have anyone be a "Nietzschean", to always question even his perspective. As for Spengler, still always a joy to read. I'm still getting over the perspective I gained after reading Man and Technics. I look at all of this madness, smartphones in every hand, everyone holding up their smartphone camera the second they see something interesting, I CAN'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!.... yak... it's just more chains. It's very hard to speak to these points to most people, because instantly the layman will think "you're a luddite!"; of course, that is wrong, so one must avoid even this. The only "will to power" all of this has served is an unprecedented will to power in the form of a surveillance-world for those who hold the reigns of power; and unfortunately, those are the people who are bitterly full of hate toward the west. ... well, these sentiments are also influenced by Klages. I'm curious if the editor of these videos is familiar with Ludwig Klages. I would think so since Spengler thought so highly of him. BTW, loved the use of Thomas Cole's Course of Empire. Couldn't think of a better choice. One of my absolute favorite series of paintings. Also, at 7:55, "Autumn", the bit about music, reminds me of Nietzsche talking about Richard Wagner, how the tired degenerates need something loud and chaotic to get enough strength to stand up. I suppose it's not far off from your average modern gym rat who is in there trying to pump more iron from their heavy metal screaming music playlist, or worse yet, the lifelessness of this modern electronic music, dubstep, and all of the other monstrosities, that help the coffee-sipping robots grind their gears long enough to get through their miserable day as a slave in the capitalist system; oops, now I'm borrowing from Goebbels.
Zarathustra's series of speeches in the market place are powerful, so that it can be exhausting on the feelings! What could surpass that, why continue? Yet the book does continue. Don't treat "Zarathustra" like a Bible, that you can open up anywhere. If the Bible is like "Being," "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" is a story of "Becoming."
With the world crumbling as it is today, beyond a shadow of a doubt, I decided to FINALLY REALLY DIVE IN to Oswald Spengler's works and ideas... And through my research I have found this channel, of course. It is blowing me away what he knew, what he saw, and how he could put it into words, albeit the words I've read are transcribed into English. It is most certainly going to continue to be a very cold winter. Somehow, though, the pessimism I carry seems a bit optimistic, if that makes any sense.... (And, yes, my last name is Spengler. It is my maiden name, as I've never been married.)
@@apoliticaldeviant1262 Definitely. Decline of the West is quite lengthy, but check out his other works such as Prussianism and Socialism, or Hour of Decision. They're considerably shorter than DOTW, and they encapsulate his worldview and the evolution of his philosophy
The Faustian likening of Western civilization is very fascinating. Could modern liberalism/egalitarianism simply be a final futile attempt to control one's surroundings. Think about it. In modern America liberals repeatedly blame themselves (namely white men) for the failings of minorities. By taking blame for minorities' failings liberals feel they are in control. In other words they think "If we messed it up we can fix it." By accepting the realities of biological determinism, cultural inequality, etc. the plight of minorities ceases to be in their (the liberal do-gooder's) control.
Ironic you say these "Liberals" as call them desire control, yet it is the religious Right, the Conservative Caucasians who fear a transfer of power and any culture that is not of their own mono-culture. It is the Right that seeks to disallow basic liberties as Freedom of Speech. It is the Right who wish to control what men put into their bodies and what women wish to remove. The Caucasoid people seem to forget that it is there will that has guided Western Civilization with their Semitic desert cult called Christianity.
It's the edge of the world and all of western civilization The sun may rise in the East at least it's settled in a final location It's understood that Hollywood sells Californication
MisterCharlton I believe the west has always been simply flawed. Ever since 1054, when Catholicism split from Orthodoxy, and then in the Reformation, the West has been slowly dying. What finally killed it was the French Revolution. What the West needs right now is Orthodoxy. And then the centres of civilisation will not be London, or Berlin, or Paris, but rather Moscow, Athens, Constantinople and Belgrade.
Србски хајдук So Faustian Civilization has been dying since it was in its infancy? Haha In all seriousness though, I definitely do not think that the West has been in decline since then. Rather, that was when the Church’s own morphology began to culminate. As for the West, I’d say that it existed in its “highest form” from 1649 - 1914. That was our equivalent of the Greek Classical Era. Herodotus = Gibbon Socrates = Locke Plato = Rousseau Aristotle = Mill
Until we lose our status as a reserve currency, we can add debt upon debt. But when interest rates begin to climb, we will have a problem that the Federal Reserve will struggle to keep under control, but it will still limp along until we reach an Argentina or Greece crisis point and everybody crashes with us.
I've watched the 'Autumn' season of our culture... I think we are now living in the early Winter season.. I see no way back to our 'Spring' of noble creation and spirit... The seasons have been filled with too much corruption... The last 100 years of history have been carefully distorted myth and legend by the elitists, mega-bankers and politicians..
The US is not the civilization, all of europe is, and we still are the worlds bread basket. We are approaching however the time of Marius and Sulla, by 2040 both will be apparent.
Basically, the next 200-400 years look like Fallout New Vegas for the West. Caesar's Legion is a very accurate depiction, the NCR will still be clutching to the hope and romanticism of the Old World. What the hope for the birth of a new civilization? A, 'Brotherhood' of Knighthood and Steel?
America will probably look like Fallout by the end of the decade. Either WW3, another Civil War, or both winds up erupting and destroys what's left of the country.
***** People here are becoming crueler, basic decency and courtesies have all but disappeared, the government (police in particular) is becoming more vicious and is more concerned with expanding it's own power than looking after public welfare, right and left wing are becoming more radicalized, and people seem to hate each other over everything these days. I know this sounds like a silly rant, but to me, it makes envisioning the barbarism that engulfed places like Yugoslavia or Ukraine coming to America all that much easier.
The New California Republic is made up of remnants of the old order of governance before the great 3rd world war. The Legion is a tribe of slavers and misfits that have pillaged what was left after the last great war in the Fallout universe. The Brotherhood of Steel stands apart from those horrible factions. It is trying to preserve technology and keep the peace in an unforgiving world that chose to live without order or rules.

@Übermensch That's funny. This is one of my favorite videos on youtube. They must think it's alt-right/nazi propaganda (even though Spengler was anti-Nazi)
Just finished watching this, and I have to say its an amazing summary of Spengler's work. Kudos to you for making such an awesome and informative video. The events of the past year have really convinced me that Spengler was correct in his analysis of the development of Western Civilization. From the force-politics of cancel culture and banning of conservative opinions, to the fomenting of unrest in the massive urban populations, to the stagnation of the economy, the mass media manipulation of the people, and the breakdown of even the most fundamental aspects of human society (defund the police, no differences between men and women, 500 different genders, quarantines and lockdowns without end, etc.), I have to admit Spengler foresaw what was coming with greater accuracy than all the intellectual elite of today put together. I would argue that Trump is a proto-Caesar, since one of Spengler's defining characteristics of a Caesar is support from his followers on the basis of personal loyalty rather than party allegiance. Had Trump established martial law, we would have seen a civil war comparable to that in the late Classical between Marius (whose Western equivalent is probably a Democrat with military experience such as Buttigieg or Gabbard) and Sulla (Trump). The fierce opposition of the Caesars to money-politics is also shockingly similar to Trump's fight against the Washington Establishment. I think that in the future we will see more presidents like Trump who challenge the power of money until the system becomes so unstable that armed dictators seize control amidst mass riots and civil war.
The Kennedy brothers were the Gracchus brothers of our time. Reformers who were assassinated by the Deep State. Moreover, Democrats will morph into the "Optimates" and the Republicans under Trump's political lineage will represent populistic interests. I also think there will be a Constitutional crisis in the coming election cycles (2024-2032) as the Democrats will try to dispute any populistic victories and attempt to exile (i.e. cancel) the populistic factions. As for how the Empire of the West will form, using Spengler's model, I predict that America will go to war either with China or Russia or both and use this war as a pretense to permanently bring Europe, NA, and the Caribbean under American control through NATO/EU. We are already seeing this with the Ukraine crisis. The crisis itself is peripheral to the Western world yet is being used to expand NATO/EU as well as reinforce American hegemony (as an example, Germany is sacrificing its national economic interests to comply with American interests). The Ukraine crisis is but a preview of how America will nucleate the West.
Trump is not a proto-Caesar, he is simply another American populist; I would, however, deem him a proto-Sulla. Also, the Caesars will *NOT* be opposed to the power of money, this kind of irrational hatred for resources goes against the very nature of the Caesar. He will be a being that accumulates power, in all of it's forms, at any cost; as such, he will have no particular disdain towards finances and will likely be keen to use them to his advantage. His *FOLLOWERS* will be opposed to money, an irrationality the Caesar will be ready to take advantage of. We see this even in the very men that gave Spengler his namesake for the phenomenon; Julius Caesar was the richest man in Rome due to his Gallic conquests, and readily used those resources to secure his power through the ever-so-famous "Bread & Circuses". Even before he had wealth, he routinely borrowed from the moneyed elite to enact his plans. After him, we have Augustus; who is literally the richest being in human history & used the vast wealth of the Egyptian provinces to secure the loyalty of the legions (something which would become tradition for the Emperors). This weird fetish Spengler had for hating money doesn't make sense in the context of the Caesars he speaks of, as these people will lust for power in *ALL* of it's forms & by *ANY* means necessary. They hold no ideological favorites/prejudices, and they care for nothing outside of the pragmatic acquisition of power. Them having a hate-boner for money doesn't make sense, and seems more like projection on part of Spengler.
what really scares me is the thought that our civilization might be the last. Never in history other civilizations attained the level of wealth, interconnectedness and raw destructive power that we have. One thing is the fall of Rome, going from 1,5 million to 50k people in the span of a few decades, another very different thing is going from 7-8 billion to 1-2 billion on a global scale, with nukes and ai. Even though Rome fell, it still exists. Life continued and a new civilization sprung up amongst it's ruins. I wonder if there would even be ruins after the fall of our civilization.
Well, Rome lasted until the renaissance. In 395, it became a two-fold civiliization. The West fell after less than 100 years, but the East held on and was the last light of Rome, incarnated as Constantinople.
@@Michael_the_Drunkard The Eastern Roman Kingdom was a form of different civilization, or as Spengler would say culture. It was on the surface misleadingly perceived as a heritage of the antic roman era, but in its depth it was actually a whole new world/culture, semitic or magical culture that run under this roman mantle.
This is a legitimate and concerning notion. I suppose it depends on the nature of the collapse, but I share the thought. We have no collective memory of greater technology or destructive power than what we possess today and the collapse of this civilization could mean the end of a planet capable of sustaining human beings. Spengler's ideas are as fascinating as they are disturbing, and his ideas are even more relevant now (2022) than when this video was made, some 8 years prior, now that we have seen our first taste of Caesarism, almost like a disturbing presentiment of more to follow.

Even writing a historiography of Western Civilisation is an autumnal act by Spengler and belongs alongside collecting, archaeology, and that sort of thing. Marx's historiography likewise belongs firmly in Autumn. The difference being Spengler rightly identifies decay as the central theme, whereas Marx actually believes in Progress, and is confident that after Capitalism collapses, Socialism and then Communism will lead to a kind of reestablished Garden of Eden. They are basically the heavyweight secular historiographies but Christian eschatology really spells out the end, which is to say firstly, that there will be an end, and that time/history is linear not cyclical. The prophesied 'apocalypse', which literally means 'an uncovering' in Ancient Greek, will complete earthly history.
No, you didn't understand this video. History is not linear, as these cycles have happened before. They are an indicator of human nature which alters itself from time to time. We are currently in early winter and it's showing.
I understand the point. But I think history is both linear and cyclical (like part of a sine curve). I think the (historical) oscillations had a beginning and there will ultimately be an end. I agree that winter is upon us, I just think it may be the last winter.
It is so evident he not only studied LOGOS; but he believed in it. He presented to those the mysteries only understood by the willing/eager to use knowledge wisely. King Solomon: book of Ecclesiastes. Particularly 'the seasons' John the apostle: book of Revealation 16 thru 18. Love the video!
No, that is not fatalism. Do not mistake knowledge for belief. Fatalism is when you remain convinced nothing you'll do will matter, since everything is already in motion and preordained. Belief in immutable fate, so to speak.
Excellent video, let us embrace the end in a noble manner and hope for a better future culture if any after the collapse. This civilization has rotted too much due to peace.
I recall you saying a couple years ago in the comments section that you were working on new videos for the channel. You still planning on doing that, or is the channel done?
This has got to be one of the most compelling videos I have seen. Of course it is impossible to understand Spengler from this video alone. I recommend interested parties to download some of Spengler's works from Project Gutenberg. BTW I don't think Western civilization derives solely from Celtic-German roots. Ancient Rome, Greece, the Church and Frankish kingdom under Charlemagne and Indo-European influence all had a part from what I was taught in high school and college. A really, really beautiful video, at least that's the opinion of a slightly right of center libertarian like me. I think he was mostly right. I don't think Asian and Arab civilizations will come up with anything better.
Renato Correa de Sampaio Ok, I agree, but the problem here is that when the Roman civilization collapsed, other already existing civilizations where here. Today, there's only one civilization, so what will happen when it will collapse?

I scooped up this dudes book and walked away with the conclusion, "Well, certainly, our civilization has come to an end. And it is clear, these symbols are incredibly strong and important to society, so, why not Prometheus ourselves in a way? Roman Government, Greek Philosophy, Hindu Art, Persian...stuff, or American...country music? Or all? Why not apply some science here and discard the worst of Western Civilization and preserve the best? Or preserve it all? Lastly, how the hell can I accomplish this if I am the only one walking away with this thought while others are walking away depressed? I guess...lead by example and see what happens? I can only be responsible for my own actions."
I'm not here to preach and I am sure I will get hate for this comment but it is why, you as individual must set rules for yourself, create a constant whatever they mean or mean to you.... I can't change the world but I can influence some people and effect myself.... We are entering a dark winter......
I dont think spenglerism could be used has a recipe, but has a warning. Theres nothing bad with feminism and a lot of good. But also not having babies would get your civilization killed. My point is... on winter prepare yourself for the spring, feminism is something to retain, while we have to destroy or forget other things and create a lot of new things.
@@teiman Feminism is only good if you assume that it is well-intentioned. At this point one has to question that notion very strongly! But it is ofc linked to Democratization. No Democratic, prosperous state can uphold a patriarchy for long. Same goes for slavery. These are then considered relics of the past.
I think that Oswald Spengler pointed into the Russian civilization or orthodox world view as a young and surviving civilization that will be winning after the fall of western post-Christian or heretical civilization. The main conclusion of Spengler was in fact that for the time the new civilization is helped by God it will survive and then will DECLINE and become SERVANTS. He mentioned civilization of China as the first civilization, Chineese did not dissapere from the Earth they become servants, not-important, just example..Although even the elective nations such as Jews thru whom God gave his Law become servants and slaves once they stop to obey God. In fact civilization the way Spengler explains for western civilization starts when you leave God and his laws you were given. In fact, since 1054 West is the HERESY and EAST and ORTHODOX only keep God's laws properly and SLAVS with Russians, Serbs etc.. are WINNERS.
Winter is already here. "Private Armies": what do you think corporations are? When a peak amount of baby boomers retire in the next couple of years the money supply will tank. Then war... And then??... I think Spengler's timeline is off: I think things move much faster as they roll downhill.
9:17 The Winter of the West is something very similar to the setting of Mountain Hold, a post-apocalyptic book recently written by Tyler Danann. The mercenary armies and militias are all that can stand in the way of lawless hordes of the multicultural hordes and hostile powers trying to finish off western civilization. It all repeats eventually, but how long before when the spring returns?
The Winter predictions are so fucking relevant right now. Literally why Trump won in the US, López Obrador in Mexico, and Bolsonaro in Brazil. Unusual leaders all three.
The important thing to remember is that this is just a man's view, a man who witnessed far more turbulence in his era than most of today's western population. I think the road lies open for western civilization to develop. It all depends whether we deal with NWO, white genocide etc...
+Felix Fedre Do the cells of a 90 year old man say the same perhaps? "Maybe we can save this old bastard!" The poor cells try their hardest until it is time to give in. Let it all go...Lets watch it burn and build anew. Optimism is for cowards.
Western Civilization began when the first Indo-Europeans domesticated the horse & dog, invented the wheel, and created the metal axe. All long before the Greeks & Romans who like the people of India & Iran are descendants of those Indo-Europeans of the Chalcolithic age.

Another tidbit for those who don’t know…. Goethe in his Italian journey was given a copy of Vico and was very influenced by him.

We are now in the Winter phase.

I present this to my Introduction to Philosophy students every semester in the final chapter on the meaning of life as progress in science and morals. One thing I like to point out is that the Decline of the West is not the end of the world.

I like this video very interesting
graham white I'm not as fatalistic.
The Egyptians for all intents of purposes had two civilizations. Also the civilization has not yet achieved the civilization state.
Man you're the best Hail to you! Hail victory! You should write a book
I've never seen anyone more tethered to their phones than those who go about "untethered" with their smartphones.

I love the idea that 'the layman will think you're a luddite". You'd be lucky to find one in a hundred that would have any idea what a Luddite is

Wishful thinking
Ironic you say these "Liberals" as call them desire control, yet it is the religious Right, the Conservative Caucasians who fear a transfer of power and any culture that is not of their own mono-culture. It is the Right that seeks to disallow basic liberties as Freedom of Speech. It is the Right who wish to control what men put into their bodies and what women wish to remove. The Caucasoid people seem to forget that it is there will that has guided Western Civilization with their Semitic desert cult called Christianity.

Haha
In all seriousness though, I definitely do not think that the West has been in decline since then. Rather, that was when the Church’s own morphology began to culminate.
@@Resuge great comments!
Great take.

@@robertpavel6763 no, you're writing complete nonsense again.
1. It was an empire not a kingdom. Otherwise, the WRE would also be a kingdom.
2. It was not profoundly different to the late (united empire) of the 4th century. It is dishonest East Rome to the pagan principate instead of the Christian dominate of late antiquity, with which it has way more similarities.
3. The empire was undeniably Roman, not on the surface, only fully. The emperor held the imperial title, the citizenry was Roman, their court and capital, being at Constantinople could not be more Roman. The Greek language had been the 2nd most important and consequently that was the language those Romans spoke.
4. Muuh semitic religion. Are you one these neo-pagan larpers that believe xTianIty dEstRoYeD rOmE? The Western Roman Empire, that do you recognize as Roman was a Christian state also and its collapse can rather be attributed to Germanic infiltration than the new faith.
That is the reality. The West is the last living civilization and it will be the last.

Particularly 'the seasons'

I scooped up this dudes book and walked away with the conclusion, "Well, certainly, our civilization has come to an end. And it is clear, these symbols are incredibly strong and important to society, so, why not Prometheus ourselves in a way? Like Thomas Paine pointed out - the government is a tool for the people, and the people are the living. - Not the dead. What is the best of the Western Civilization's cultures that existed? Roman Government, Greek Philosophy, Hindu Art, Persian...stuff, or American...country music? Or all? Why not apply some science here and discard the worst of Western Civilization and preserve the best? Or preserve it all? Lastly, how the hell can I accomplish this if I am the only one walking away with this thought while others are walking away depressed? I guess...lead by example and see what happens? I can only be responsible for my own actions."

Very interesting! Very plausible!
The important thing to remember is that this is just a man's view, a man who witnessed far more turbulence in his era than most of today's western population. I think the road lies open for western civilization to develop. It all depends whether we deal with NWO, white genocide etc...
