Hello friends! This is a clip from an awesome (IMHO) 90 minute interview with Bret and Heather's that's the first of two parts. If you want to dive deeper, check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/gwQHLHNsKvw/v-deo.html
how it will really collapse?: i am starting to contemplate the idea that "schooling" is nothing more than a FEMA camp designed to induce medication and brainwash children as part of the MK Ultra program.
If you live in these united states, you become aware, ( in my lifetime) it seems everyone involved in governance and schools and universities now seem to be the opposite of enlightened.
It’s been a deliberate thing to dumb down the people, defunding schools, remember the contrails Criss crossing the sky, it was all about the same thing, heavy metals into the air you breathe.
The truth is that plenty, probably even majorities inside these institutions, oppose [insert new thing] just as much as you do. However, they have no power to stop it, even if they're in management. They would just be replaced (as Bret and Heather were). Marketplaces of ideas do not always or automatically select for true or moral ideas. They select ideas that justify the use of power and/or make those wielding them feel warm and fuzzy. Only by a full reset can the marketplace be restored, but the power required to do that would be... monarchical. I know that Eric Weinstein fears these ideas, but I'm curious to know what Bret and Heather think.
Bret and Heather are a wealth of important info imo. I do like this clip. Heather reminded me how outraged I was when doctors obediently followed WHO advice despite knowing it was incorrect. Plus, the doctor who took a history from the patient and examined him almost always knows better what the appropriate Rx should instead of some unelected bureaucrats at the WHO in some foreign land. The medical profession really disappointed me during the pandemic and now, their refusal to care for the vaxx injured patients they see.
We should have ditched the Republicans in 1964 when we realized they were not an opposition party but rather the echo Barry Goldwater warned about. A two party system needs two parties else it devolves into the one party state Prof Weinstein described on introduction
I love our Founders, but this isn't comparable. For one, these ideologies didn't exist till later. They didn't even have a NAVY. And the King of England didn't have satellites. It is hard to fight your own government with unlimited resources. Not only that, they lived in a relatively small area, we are now thousands of miles apart and can't even meet each other without getting on a plane. They didn't have a global economy based on the petro dollar. government isn't being stupid. They just want everyone to think they are.
"The civilization that we as whites created in Europe and America could not have developed apart from the genetic endowments of the creating people, nor is there any reason to believe that the civilization can be successfully transmitted to a different people." - Samuel Todd Francis (columnist and editor)
Yeah, those white boys who stormed the capitol in the U.S. are a really good example of the whites who created western civilization aren't they? That statement is ridiculous.
@@davidthompson1369 It has a lot to do with race, as evidence would suggest. To blindly suggest otherwise is more of an article of faith than the opposite hypothesis.
Tribalism and the will to power are default settings for humanity. A society can and has risen above those basic settings, to the benefit of all of its citizens but eternal vigilance is necessary for sustained success. The laser should be focused on the Supreme Court at this point to insure we won't devolve.
By “all its citizens”, I’m assuming you mean white men? And now that things aren’t going so well for white men, everyone is freaking out about collapse. Civilization itself was built upon the oppression and subjugation of women and children(and honestly, by extension, men too), and if the liberation of women and children leads to the end of civilization, so be it. In fact, I welcome it!
tribalism comes back when that "extended family" structure of institutions dont serve as intended. Also low birthrate changes dynamics of this and may tip it to favor tribalist "clans" of families who can pull together.
Great video. These 2 have a lot of great wisdom and they are legitimate scientists. I don't like how a lot of people dismiss them as "pseudo intellectuals" or refer to Brett as some sort of nutjob. They're both very smart people and understand what it means to observe and conduct studies based on those observations. We've gotten in a place in our society where we won't listen to what wisdom or experience people have to say just because we might not like some of their views. That is not how you build a cohesive and open minded society.
agreed. there are some that dont like Jordan Peterson. i think he too is great. different views and lack of understanding seems to cause great attack these days.... i've been saying, "welcome to the secular world."
When the redefinition of gender was at its height and Drs went along and advocated for it, even if that meant operating on children, I knew there's no going back from here. "Reality" will break and let's see what's ushered in. I feel like it's safe to say it's not going to be anything pleasant.
I disagree, i am looking forward to the next year. Maybe a trip to Univeral Studio, Harry Potter stuff. JK would approve of MY lifestyle. 1910 home, no car, sailboat for global warming flood. the significance of time, the significance of time is important becasue K-boss is the first double-double BIPOC Taxing future profits of stocks is a Brillant idea. Mandatory buy-back of free amendment rights is really going to get Elon mad. define crime to eliminate crime? Stop the division in the country with hate speech laws.
Imagine what can be unburdened by what has been. The end of everything is probable. Enjoy life when you can. watch a cat meme. Bret is just giving a canary in the coal mine warning.
Wait... As a plumber.... Yes I need 4 years of school to go in your house 😂 but that schooling is not experience. I've known a lot of guys that have schooling, but are horrible plumbers. Yes experience beats schooling every time.
When I was on building sites they started insisting on everyone having their ticket regardless of actual competency. There were older guys with decades of experience and no ticket, they were all told they either accepted demotion to labourers or leave. They left and we were left with inexperienced people who couldn't perform basic tasks acting like they were all special because they had their ticket. I did the same as most of the older guys, they got a crew together and a van and got paid stupid money by white collar people to do basic repairs and alterations. The requirement was to turn up when you say you're going to and do the job. They couldn't find qualified people who would do those 2 things.
@@jelkel25, "...they got a crew together and a van and got paid stupid money by white collar people to do basic repairs and alterations." This is actually a major theme in the recent Southpark movie Into The Panderverse. So many people just have no idea how _anything_ works or why it works let alone how to fix it when it stops working. Here's a little secret for you: Fixing computers is no different than fixing cars, home wiring, plumbing, or anything else. You just have to be able to diagnose the problem. Oddly enough, fixing computers is probably the easiest in fact, since you have the whole internet to help you diagnose the problem. The only difficulty is learning a new 'language' for the parts you're dealing with. "The requirement was to turn up when you say you're going to and do the job. They couldn't find qualified people who would do those 2 things." The kids have been lied to about so many things. "You're never going to get anywhere in life if you don't have a college degree!" A college degree means nothing at all any more because everyone has one. A few decades ago college degrees were uncommon, at best so the people who had them were uncommon and could demand more money. Now every 20-year-old snot-nosed kid has a BA in some garbage field that doesn't mean anything. "Work hard and you'll be successful and have a good life." My father's generation could support a family, buy a home, and drive across the country for a two week vacation on a single factory worker's income. An average guy could do those things. All he had to do was be at work on time and work hard. Sometimes not even all that hard, really. These days...? Not so much. They've moved all the manufacturing overseas where they can pay slave wages to people that no one in this country cares about and certainly isn't thinking about. How many people know that their iPhone was made in a factory where the workers were jumping off the dormitory roofs to [unalive] themselves because it was the only way they could protest the conditions? No one cares. They just want the newest iPhone. "We've moved on to the information economy! We don't need factories!" Yeah... Tell a farmer about the, "information economy." You can't eat information. You can't get in your information and drive to the store. The, "information economy," is a lie. You either produce things or you starve and freeze to death when winter comes. Sure, information is VERY valuable. Without information (it used to be called, "education") you can't make things. Without information you don't know when to plant seeds (I just learned that cabbages are amazingly frost tolerant.) But information doesn't mean you don't have to get your hands dirty and your back sore ever again.
The thing people need to understand this is lots of incremental changes which seem small looking but but were absolutely instrumental in making this current situation happen.
Angels as leaders? I wish. After the expetience of last 4 years I'm of the opinion that most of our past and present leaders are psychopaths. Power is a magnet for them.
Well, what's being ignored is that immigration has not always been as qualified as the population in the West (to say the least) and has been a part of what has dragged our economies down. At least where I am from.
The collapse is coming more options now then ever before to ruin your life. To much danger from so many directions. Climbing that ladder of pushing the envelope more and more. What do you think is gonna happen when all those things collide together at once.
This country has been in flux since the day it was born. Nothing has changed. The old guard has always been afraid that the younger people won't stand up and the younger people are just tired of the old ways.
I dont know how young people can be tired od something they dont have a lot of experience in. It should be the okder generation that is tired of it. The problem is younger people are naive enough to think that they can successfully manage something like communism even though its killed at least 100 million people in over 100 countries for over 100 years.
I’m a plumber and I appreciate the reference. You can go to school but your real education starts working in the field. It took me about 10yrs working in this field to really understand what I was doing. 25 years in and I’m still learning. Installing and understanding are not the same thing. I was a good installer early on, understanding systems and the little details takes a long time, and things are always changing. I’m still a student of my trade.
I'm very careful at the doctor's office. One time I had a pain in my abdomen and they wanted to give me an IV and some other items, yet, we didn't even know what the problem was yet. I asked them: do the items you want to give me aid in the diagnosis of my issue? And they said 'no'. So I said then we can skip those items. Then, we moved right to the scanner and it found a kidney stone. Which passed on it's own, so really, I didn't even need these people. They just want to sell supplies and drugs.
😂what? I'm guessing you're American. Only an American would say something so off point and so pointless 😅 maybe you need to watch the video again without the s##t in your head 🤔
It's hard when it teaches you that you are the champion of freedom and you realize that you are just the last empire that plunders other nations for their resources.
@@muddyguns You might find interesting that we have tried to determine if that is a good strategy. That's one of the goals of game theory. it turns out that. Simulations seems to suggest that forgiveness and cooperation are the most successful strategies, as long as you have mechanisms to deal with cheaters and abusers. Data seems to suggest that immediate retribution with high forgiveness over performs all other strategies as they start to isolate themselves after long enough time.
@@klaussone I'll use the past millenia as the census report. Mankind will exploit the weak and plunder the booty any chance it gets. If you're born in the western world in the past 100 years thank the universe because you hit the lotto
"Enlightened governance" sounds like a great idea. Sadly, most great ideas, without a mechanism to limit their power, scope and rule... become despotic. Because power not only corrupts, it's magnetic to psychopaths.
I too do not want my plumber to perform brain surgery on me. However, I also don't want my brain surgeon to perform any plumbing repairs in my bathroom.
"An experiment that has been wildly succesfull" For who though? On average, we have less money in hands and you have to have a 2 income household. (Borrowing from the future) And birthrate has been under 2.1 for more than 50% of the duration. How is that successfull??
Only if we follow Socrates who said “Virtue does not come from wealth, but. . . wealth, and every other good thing which men have. . . comes from virtue.” Or if we follow the Ten Commandments to the letter.
Negative. Christian fulfillment means you will be persecuted and martyred by the authorities of the world. You might get wealth, and it will most likely send you to Hell. Christ himself said that his followers would live a life like his own. Sacrifice, sacrifice, and martyrdom
All society collapses at some point. People cause their own demise, by oursourcing their wants and needs to the state. When I think of this topic I am always reminded of HG Wells the Time Machine. A peaceful docile society with no responsibility. All their comforts provided for, by overseers who will inevitably enslave and eat them. I am a huge fan of self sufficency. Not anarchy. Governments are necessary, but tend to work best when they are small and streamlined. Modern people have become far too reliant on the state for everything. When that happens, your fate becomes inextricably tied to the government. How many people have died waiting for the government to save them from a coming flood when they had time to simply walk to higher ground? Yes, that is a bit of an oversimplification, but it illustrates the point.
Hi Heather, I like and respect you... How ever as a plumber of 20 years I can say that you're completely wrong. It takes 4 years to get a red seal to become a journeyman, many tests, countless hours on site and a piece of paper from an accredited trade school or college. Lived experience is a huge component, but the idea that we don't require a "degree" is false. This is why red seal journeymen are internationally recognized as qualified trades people. You don't get to just call yourself a plumber and be one anymore than you can call yourself a doctor or lawyer or accountant.
Bret - "The idea that the market, this blind force is going to navigate us wisely enough through that minefield is preposterous". The "market" - the "blind force" you reference is of course the untidy, uncompelled purchasing and interaction choices of all of us. (You know, the one that enabled the lives of 8 billion people to live better, on average, then all the lamentable governance experiments of the past.) Let me get this right Bret. You're advocating Platonic guardianship; a central planning Soviet? ("enlightened governance" philosopher kings then?)
He’s a Trotskyite. Do not let the small hats fool you. They are part of the source of the issue. They taught student to hate America at that terrible institution. Schills.
"...the untidy, uncompelled purchasing and interaction choices of all of us." That is where your argument falls apart. in fact, it's only the one word that fails you, "uncompelled." How many purchases are not compulsory? Sure, you can choose which insurance company you want to pay your monthly extortion fee to but the rates are pretty much the same (and rapidly rising) regardless. I could go on for hours about compulsory purchases.
They say a lot, and they say that relationships between races and people with different sexuality are the worst. I grew up in the 80’s with Michael Jackson hit songs, Prince hit songs. We had Queen’s “I’ve got to break free”, Wham, Culture Club, and George Michael. We accepted so many people, and if they were exceptional, we praised them.
you grew up in an age of antiwhite narrative and a push for WHite-erasure and White-guilt being normalised, and now the fruits have been borne. Westernkind are enoguh, only we cna be us, we don't need Michael Jackson or any other of his ethnicity
not really, they are making valid observation about collapsing of the old system, buy,if you keep the old religions and ideologies, an extinction of the civilization, is inevitable ,as evidenced by current events on the global stage;only revolutionary reform involving throwing onto a rubbish heap all the religious and political crap will it be possible to salvage the progress humanity made so far.
They are part of the saboteurs. They are not Christian nor do they identify as Americans. They are small hats. They promote communism and then cry the Christian high trust system is collapsing.
People like to associate with those that are culturally close, not necessarily genetic or racial. Making everything about race or genetics is why we are in this mess. Cultural preservation and augmentation is key to civilization.
Dad Saves America by talking to two grifters who think they're experts on everything because they have doctorates in one niche topic. Meanwhile, they're wrong about nearly everything they say. True examples of the Dunning Kruger effect in action.
This is so good - on two levels. The content - the interview - sums up what I've been feeling but been unable to put into words for years now. Thank you for this - subscribed. Also, your production values are through the roof. I do videography for a living and am so impressed with the setup, the camera quality, lighting, sound, and editing for your interviews. I also like the occasional split screen / video within a video segments. Thanks again; looking forward to more interviews and other content.
to the societal optimists that go with "your life is better than kings/queens of old" i would like to counter with "are we more or less fulfilled than generations past?" largely it seems the cost to these material increase the cost was fulfillment of life and spiritual growth. what is the point of being alive if you have no self worth, control, direction, or meaning in any sense.
It depends on how you draw the line. In many very real ways, western civilization is already dead and buried, never to return. In a few other ways, there's still maybe some hope.
America has been a beacon for western civilisation. However, over the past 12 years or so it has been in serious decline. If western society is to survive, the US needs return to old values. And you can do that with voting for RFKJr.
Western Civilization abandoned, and then forgot, what made it great. Our atheistic elites don’t simply reject its foundations, they reject the wherewithal to grasp those foundations. “Civilizations die from suicide, not murder.” - Toynbee
Western civilisation has been in decline since the 1920s when British empire started to decline. America is really the epilogue in the story of the British empire which in turn spearheaded western civilisation. We often imagine the end of a civilisation to be brought about by some catastrophic event like a war that makes the house of cards collapse but civilisations can take centuries to collapse.. we have been in steady decline in the west for over a century now.. when Roman civilisation was in decline the people who lived within it didn't think they were in decline.. things seem to be unravelling in the west but it will go on and become something else
I dont remember Soviet Union be named part of Western Civilization, although it combined various different nationalities and even called it Communist International. More that that, one of the most impactful leaders wasnt from title nationality. So it is not just Western Civilization who combined different nations on the cooperation basis.
We decided that God was not needed. The story of Jesus Christ, his teachings and his example...no longer needed. The faith that lifted the barbarian west after the fall of Rome, no longer needed. Spiritual grounding, no longer needed. Feeling a part of something bigger than ourselves, something devine, no longer needed. Having ownership in it, and a will to sacrifice for it, no longer needed. We threw the baby out with the bathwater.
My sense is that Richard Dawkins and the late E.O. Wilson would concur with your explanation that as institutions disintegrate, their tribal constituents would, as it were, come out of solution. While Jefferson anticipated periodic rebellions against the inevitability of government tyranny, he likely could not envision the civil disunity we're currently experiencing; after all, in his day America was comprised largely of the tribe of English-speaking tradesmen, merchants, laborers, and gentleman farmers like himself. We're approaching a tipping point - if not already past it - where we're no longer a melting pot but a corrosive emulsion. I agree w/Mr. Schlaefer, the past 60 years will have been the prelude to the so-called Black Swan event everyone should've seen coming. On the global scale, failure of US would be the catalyst for the failure of the West.
show me a piece of western civilization, do you see rust, wrinkles, cosmetic paint? humanity is well and truly linked nowadays, so a better question is, can we reduce heat production in time to save the environment? or are you talking about western domination? that's in trouble.
One of the easiest ways to see this eventuality is to look at prisons. In prison the entirety of society in there is based on race. When things happen you MUST stand up for your "team". Failure to step up and fight for your race will cause you to be attacked by your group.
Correct, Western Civilization is not going to be the first and only exception to the rule. In fact it is proving every day that it is progressing to collapse right on schedule.
Western Civilization is over 1000 years old, if you count only the Modern, Early Modern, Renaissance, High Middle and Middle Middle Ages. That's one heck of an "Experiment".
Yes. Human progress is still roughly on the hockey stick. But, it’s about perspective. People today do not have the appreciation of where humanity has been. They see what their situation is and has been since they have been alive. If they feel things are worse now than when they were young, there will be discontent.
I am always reminded of the movie *Sphere*. (spoiler alert) At the end of the movie, the remaining crew, who have been given an incredible power, choose to use that power to "forget" everything they had discovered. Basically, they had the power to nullify the power itself. The US Constitution puts the all the power in the hands of the people, even if not direct power. We have so much freedom that would can elect and vote ourselves out of existence. And we just might do that...
If you have to choose between a chicken sh!t sandwich & a dog sh!t sandwich, it's still sh!t. Our rights were nullified with the Pay-tree-ot act; it was 500+ pages long; nobody read it; who had time? We did get too comfortable, but we were also tricked into a lot of this. They're very clever psychopaths; they kept the little people distracted & working all the time so we wouldn't realize that they insidiously pulled the rug out from under us, one small tug at a time.
The couple's rants about doctors and what constitutes a competent doctor is total BS. They live in a dream world where "real" doctors were around decades ago. They were able to see, talk to, and examine patients and could use their judgment, whereas today according to Heather, a doctor is a robot who is controlled by some corporations. A plummer, claims Heather, has more practical experience than a doctor, and doctors shouldn't need more formal edication than a plummer. This is what Heather literally claims - believe it or not. No wonder this couple is a joke among educated people. including their old cronies in the "intellectual dark web"
I've never seen more hubris between two people. Faith in god is the only reason we have made it as far as we have. The reason everything is going to pot is; so many of us Americans have turned our backs on god.
Truly. I actually prayed the John Paul II would identify the Declaration of Independence as inspired by God. It identifies a higher power 4 times and clarifies that government’s purpose is solely to protect our God given rights. As we as a people have turned from God, unfortunately we have turned toward government demanding obligations and calling them rights. Gradually, weve come to believe that our rights are actually bestowed on us from government which is dangerous. If rights come from government, from men, then they can just as easily be taken away or withheld. Government is a monopoly and was to be constrained by our Constitution. Unrestrained, it acts like any other monopoly growing and increasing its reach and power. What we are witnessing is the growth of slow motion fascism where corporations ignore the markets and pursue rent seeking from government instead. Corporations buy politicians and politicians blackmail corporations to the detriment of the citizens.
@@shaneryan9040 You do you. It’s better you believe that you were created by Harry Potter and your rights were Potter given than believe your rights are endowed to you by government. The problem with the godless is that most still seek religion and the most dangerous of the godless religions is government. The Catholic Church may be corrupted by the power they wield, and they are, but they don’t control the police, regulators, the IRS, the courts, the prisons, and the military. I don’t think you listened to the video with comprehension. Dawkins is starting to get it ... of course it took reality staring him in the face for the epiphany ... and he hasn’t quite figured it out yet. Maybe you will.
It seems that while the going is good, people can ignore their differences because the plunder is a plenty however once the resources dry up, the innate reality of humanity, which is fear of the outsider, an evolved behavior which is there for very good reasons, re-emerges and takes control of the individual in order to protect them from outside aggression which is bound to be incoming. That is why Rome fell, that is why every big empire falls. Beneath the façade of inclusivity and diversity lay millennia old biological mechanisms upon which everything else is built and when historical earthquakes shake the foundations of the human animal, the pretenses and false structures which had covered its psyche in times of plenty are demolished. It is only natural, however improper or politically incorrect it is to admit. Majorities will only end up tacitly accepting being portrayed as villains for so long, right up until their children and thus their futures are threatened by the minorities and their interests, after all the whole idea of "Racism" is just the politics of the minority seeking unearned access to societies which their forefathers never shed any blood for in building. The future can turn into two paths, a calm landing into conservatism while each phenotype acknowledges the right to freedom of association or civil war. The charade of the "new man" is over for the time being as there will be other empires who seek to drink from the cup of diversity while the riches flow in the future as their leaders seek to prostitute their native populations to the outsiders in efforts of keeping their power and privileges. It has been an interesting short history for the western empire, who bucked trends of geopolitical and geographical disadvantage due to the technological progress of the small island off the north-western coast of the continental European mainland but history waits for no-one and the rest of the world has caught up and in some areas even surpassed the now decaying world power. I sincerely wish that the current leadership of the western empire doesn't end up pulling the plug on North America and thus causing you all to eat each other like starving rats but so far events seem to be heading in that direction especially considering the levels of migration you're currently experiencing. You know, Cuba emptied all their prisons when they sent "migrants" to Florida back in the 1980's. History might be repeating and considering the current political climate in the USA, you're woefully unprepared to deal with such. . . adventurous and enterprising young men, especially since they're not "white" nor "spicy white" and thus cannot be viewed as anything but richly deserving, desperate noble souls even, migrants looking for a better life who seek help from such a wealthy society as yours! Better make sure the 2nd amendment doesn't go anywhere, while you still can.
Thank you. We need people with their fingers in the air, confirming our knowing the direction of the wind and how strong it is blowing. . We live at least in a gale, if not a hurricane.
. I understand he is saying individualism , as opposed to collectivism, is the basis of western civilization. And that identitary politics tends to revert society to that tribal collectivist state? I dont think western civilization has ever solved the tension of individualism versus collectivism , though..
Western civilization is Christian civilization. All the things that make us different (respect for the sanctity of the individual, universalism, the distinction between secular/worldly and the religious, the idea of progress/salvation) originate in Christianity. The problem is that you can't explain the success of Christianity in evolutionary terms.
Western Civilization is Greece / Roman Civilization. Christianity, Communism, Civil Rights movement, and Current Wokism, are all their conspiracies to destroy Western Civilization.
Being Christian in the early days was really bad for one's evolutionary success, or any kind of worldly success for that matter. You stood a better chance of ending up in prison or fed to the lions. Not to mention the while anti-sex thing. Perhaps in the long run , however, the internalization of Christian ethics is what allowed the development of modern industrial society and in that sense it paid off from an evolutionary perspective.
Can civilization run an economy? Heard of that Adam Smith guy? He wrote this book Wealth of Nations that nobody reads. He used the word 'education' Eighty Times. The book has been free on the internet since 2001. He also wrote "read, write and account" multiple times. He didn't say 'arithmetic' though. I always heard "reading, writing and arithmetic" when people blathered about education. Western countries claiming to be capitalists could have made accounting/finance mandatory in the schools since Sputnik. When did Milton Friedman tell us about that? How did that get switched up? Must be a conspiracy!
Bret is skeptical of the free market. Most of us, Bret and Heather as well, are skeptical of governance. I don't know what Bret imagines as "enlightened governance", but in my mind, the only way to even come close to such a thing is a Free Market of Governance. Insofar as any human has the ability to rule by force over others, we will exploit it and violate human rights inevitablly. Governance should be a service that we can subscribe and unsubscribe to based on performance, same as any other service.
If the majority of the people don't want to be saved, they will not be saved.I think we're about at the point where we just need to care for our own...
I know something big and horrible is coming. Fact of the matter is too many people with different beliefs. Resources will plummet if we stay on this course. Too much of anything is bad same with too little of everything. Mother nature and or human nature will balance itself out.
While I may not always agree with them, Bret, a true Gentleman, and the Lady Heather are a genuinely beautiful couple with a sincere desire for the truth. They don't sacrifice intellect in the name of partisanship. If we could all be that way.
Capitalism is the core mechanism by which Western consolidation has proliferated and would not be possible otherwise. The times getting tough is directly correlated to the degree to which individuals rights are restricted. Capitalism is inherently meritocratic. Altruist collectivism in any of its many forms is its antithesis, and the sole cause of the decline in our civilization.
Of course! The merits of Clinton, Trump, Biden, Epstein, Gates, Bezos, Musk, Pelosi, Ackman, Diamond, Fauci, Collins, and on and on and on are patent. 😂😂😂 Even this couple did very little research or writing post-doctorate. I don't understand why, they could have.
In The Apology, Plato explains, through Socrates, the potential for destruction inherent in competition. In short, there are two routes to the top: Making yourself as excellent as possible, or . . . sabotaging the competition. Either way, the top spot is yours. Which route do people follow?
@@l.w.paradis2108 - while I’m unclear what point you were trying to make in your first reply, I do not agree with your last. Plato’s second route is inherently irrational since logical reasoning leads to the understanding that success through sabotage is no success at all. Relationships will be burned, reputation destroyed, and available business dealings dwindling the more such behaviour is engaged in. And that’s best case, assuming one is not brought to justice. This is short term thinking at best, as any well reasoned long term analysis would show that this route leads to future failure. To act in one’s best interest is to take into account one’s future interests and not simply act based on whim or expediency of the moment.
@andrewsteel5271 I have an idea. Read it. Yeah, of course getting to the top by tearing others down is bad. No kidding. When has that stopped anyone? Athens was living in a post-truth society 2400 years ago. Then they lost a big war to Sparta . . .
We had a global pandemic in 1918. 100 years later, we had a global pandemic. In 1929, we had a stock market collapse, ushering in a global economic depression. 100 years later...
Heather Heyind -- Plumbers too require licensing. But there is a difference between plumbers and doctors. Bad plumbers will cause a leaky faucet and they will fairly quickly lose customers. The mistakes of bad doctors/Quacks can cause serious health injuries and deaths. Is this the level of discourse on Dad Saves America?
I think the issue of *belief* should be examined here. What do the members of Western Civ *believe?* What are their fundamental convictions? *The Christian religion* used to be the one supreme force guiding and unifying Western Civ. What happened? *Resource depletion* is another issue that warrants examination here.
When trust disappears no equally beneficial relationship can exist.

No. And it's our fault for not standing up to the elites. Our forefathers are rolling in their graves.

I love our Founders, but this isn't comparable. For one, these ideologies didn't exist till later. They didn't even have a NAVY. And the King of England didn't have satellites. Tribalism and the will to power are default settings for humanity. A society can and has risen above those basic settings, to the benefit of all of its citizens but eternal vigilance is necessary for sustained success. The laser should be focused on the Supreme Court at this point to insure we won't devolve.
In Canada, the Supreme Courts, federal and provincial, are contributing to our devolution

This is actually a major theme in the recent Southpark movie Into The Panderverse.
They couldn't find qualified people who would do those 2 things."
The kids have been lied to about so many things. "You're never going to get anywhere in life if you don't have a college degree!"
A college degree means nothing at all any more because everyone has one. A few decades ago college degrees were uncommon, at best so the people who had them were uncommon and could demand more money. Now every 20-year-old snot-nosed kid has a BA in some garbage field that doesn't mean anything.
"Work hard and you'll be successful and have a good life."
My father's generation could support a family, buy a home, and drive across the country for a two week vacation on a single factory worker's income.
We don't need factories!"
Yeah...

WHO exactly said these two were some sort of authority of "western civilization"?
It depends on how you draw the line. In many very real ways, western civilization is already dead and buried, never to return. In a few other ways, there's still maybe some hope.
America has been a beacon for western civilisation. However, over the past 12 years or so it has been in serious decline. If western society is to survive, the US needs return to old values. And you can do that with voting for RFKJr.

Dr Fauci is a prime example of the failures in this system.

I dont remember Soviet Union be named part of Western Civilization, although it combined various different nationalities and even called it Communist International. More that that, one of the most impactful leaders wasnt from title nationality. So it is not just Western Civilization who combined different nations on the cooperation basis.
Don't expect American biologists to know that or be capable of acknowledging it.

Which god?
@@shaneryan9040 The one that endowed them with certain unalienable rights like life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
@@jefferytokarsky1930 😂😂😂😂harry potter?
When Ghandi was asked what he thought of Western civilization, he responded, "It would be a goo idea." 😂😂😂
Thank you. We need people with their fingers in the air, confirming our knowing the direction of the wind and how strong it is blowing. . We live at least in a gale, if not a hurricane.
Stop taxation, save the world.
Can human civilization be saved should be the question.
As politics is downstream from culture, culture is downstream from religion.
Western Civilization is Greece / Roman Civilization.
Christianity, Communism, Civil Rights movement, and Current Wokism, are all their conspiracies to destroy Western Civilization.
Well you can, but Bret wants to pretend that human evolution stopped somewhere around the last Ice Age.
Somebody cheer me up here.
I know something big and horrible is coming. Fact of the matter is too many people with different beliefs. Resources will plummet if we stay on this course. Too much of anything is bad same with too little of everything. Mother nature and or human nature will balance itself out.
If Russia is a close border and terrorist got in in America is an open border. Just a matter of time. Thanks Dan Goldman Chuck Schumer Adam shift😢
Even this couple did very little research or writing post-doctorate.
Then they lost a big war to Sparta . . .
@@andrewsteel5271 My first reply? I was giving you examples of how meritocratic we are.
I love thoughtful and intelligent discussion. Thank you!
We had a global pandemic in 1918. 100 years later, we had a global pandemic. In 1929, we had a stock market collapse, ushering in a global economic depression. 100 years later...
Brett and Heather are such incredibly brilliant, well spoken people, unlike the snakes and scoundrels that sit in our positions of political power.
Corruption is completely ruining what is left of our country!
The foundation has become unstable. We now have a chance to reinforce this foundation.
Enlighten governance reminds me of the mammyfication of academia and the justice system.
Gross incompetence.
I think the issue of *belief* should be examined here. What do the members of Western Civ *believe?* What are their fundamental convictions? *The Christian religion* used to be the one supreme force guiding and unifying Western Civ. What happened?
*Resource depletion* is another issue that warrants examination here. Sorry, mates, but there's simply no known substitute for fossil fuels (if we want to keep modern industrial society going) -- and they are running out. What is to be done, then?
We are not running out of fossil fuels. Oil is renewable and coal is plentiful. Most of the fossil fuel story is a lie.
the premise of that "we've used up real growth and phony growth by borrowing from the future and as the music stops and there's not enough chairs " IS WRONG.... the reality is that there's plenty of chairs but all the young persons believe that because they "earned" a " b.s. " degree then they somehow ought to be endowed with a throne instead of a chair... i blame that problem on the academics and their administrative organization for selling all the kids their "b.s."
You are missing a key puzzle piece. 1. Our American system is only designef for a moral people. 2. The common thread that linked our God ordained Western Tower of Babyl so to speak, was Judeo-Christianity. Europe today is majority atheist for example. South Korea is largely Christian. Canada has gone anti-Christian. Ukraine is largely Judeo-Christian. Bring that puzzle piece in to the debate
