I first watched this movie at new years eve when we were visiting parents friends for get together. I was 10 years old more or less. Good memory was watching this movie. Was glued to screen.
You do have to wonder how many takes they had to do on that considering they had someone blowing on the match to simulate a draft in the place and you know the match got blown out more then once. :)
His reaction is so perfect for the moment. If it wasn’t organic, he really nailed it. It looked like he got stung by a wasp. Superb! Can’t think of another actor who could have pulled off the physical comedy like Tucker did. Made for the perfect counterpoint to Willis’ severity. I couldn’t stand Chris Tucker in this role originally, but I realize now how his frantic energy and style added just the right touch to the pacing and tone.
"What's the point of protecting life when I see what you do with it?" Probably one of the hardest hitting lines I've heard in a movie. If there is a God/god-like entity, I'm sure it asks itself this question everyday.
This movie was an absolutely bonkers wonderful masterpiece of cinema and I miss the days when the Luc Besson's of the World where free to make movies like this.
Still being one of the most touching movie scene, still got the wonder and the suspense when i firts saw it in the teather; the power within LeeLoo couldn't work out if she wouldn't be loved; Corben couldn't be saved from a depressive life if he couldn't love! So, it's quite interesting the metaphorical way how Luc Besson wanted to tell us, the Love is the only salvation! Anyone has the link for this movie in HD please?

That scene were it shows the planet hovering over earth, about the same distance as the moon. Makes me wonder if the writer/director intended it to show that the moon was the last time evil got close and the 5th element stopped it then as well...
@@cruelty6368 that always bugged me because at that distance the Planet should crash into earth due to gravity. The only reason could be that this planet has different properties compared to a regular one but i think they chose 62 miles just for dramatic effect and didnt think about it.
@@Tom21369 If this planet was stopped from hitting the Earth, that force could also have put it into an orbit. Doesn't really show that though in the movie.
@@Project_-jq7jw as far as i know such a low orbit wouldnt be sustainable between two bodies of that mass and they would crash into each other regardless.
Film trivia .. Luc Besson was married to the woman who played the part of the Opera Diva but after the film was finished he divorced her and married Mila Jovovich.
Serious props to Tommy Lister’s acting as the president, who does feel like a real person and man does he convey that real fear of the impeding end during the countdown
I always thought he was underrated as an actor, I don't think anyone could have played deebo as well as he did, and his small role as the inmate in the dark knight was really great RIP big man

I was just randomly watching clips of this film, since it’s been so long since I’ve even thought about The Fifth Element. Only to find out that today’s Milla Jovovich’s (Leeloo) birthday! What a coincidence! I should rewatch this film classic sometime, since it’s been so long, and I feel like I’ll understand a lot more now as an adult.

To think Luc Besson had a trilogy planned but this didn’t perform well in the US box office. To think it’s a cult classic now.
