Man I hadn’t realised I hadn’t subbed him already I’ve watched his videos many times. Just back from 4 magical trail running and Chiang Mai eating! I’ve been visiting CM for both since 2003! Magic place. Enjoy!
First dish I tried when I arrived in Chiang Mai in 2012, was Khao Soi and I fell in love with it instantly. Love it when you and Gary hangout together.
Khao Soy Maesai...in my humble opinion! If I had one week to live, I'd eat there once a day until I keeled over! I prefer the authentic mouth feel and taste, of course. It's been over three years, and my mouth is still watering!
Aww we are in Chiang Mai right now and would have loved to have bumped into you to say thank you for great videos and recommendations. We recently went to Ancient city thanks to your video. Keep having fun and thank you
So crazy, so many UA-camrs up in Chiang mai these past couple weeks while I’m here for a trip from the UK. Want to thank you for your videos on Vietnam, very helpful for tips and tricks for our next country to visit !
Khao Soi Khun Yai is my No1. I prefer chicken off-the bone and these ladies prepare the meat really nicely (no gristle or any fatty bits). And the broth is the best I've ever had. (and I've eaten at many Khao Soi places in and around Chiang Mai). I've found Khao Soi Khun Yai is 100% consistent too - they've been making this adopted Northern Thai dish (origins from China and Burma) many, many years there. The ladies there are lovely at Khao Soi Khun Yai too. They always give me a warm welcome and treat me like a local (When I'm in CM I do tend to visit and eat there 3-4 days a week though!) Only problem I have with Khao Soi Khun Yai is that it is too popular (probably due to 5 stars on TripAdviser and the fact they only open for 4 hours a day). I've turned up quite a few times and had to wait around for a seat. I do sometime go to Khao Soi Mai Sai (my 2nd favourite) as I often stay in Santitham, but I try to get there early (or late) to avoid the hoards. Khao Soi Nimman doesn't taste authentic to me and is 'Nimmanly-priced' - so why pay more when you can eat better for cheaper. Just my take on this amazing dish. PS: I take Lobo sachets of Khao Soi back to England with me (from Tops Supermarket in Chaing Mai). I make the Khao Soi up in a slow cooker. Its not the best, but it is pretty good when you can't get the real thing!
I've done all these restaurants and others. My favourite in Chiang Mai is Khao Soi Mae Manee......about 5Km North of the old town. Banging. The beef was fantastic
I agree This place never gets a mention as it seems folks seem to follow the crowds. Have you tried the second branch on the super highway slip road near Lanna Hospital? Again the beef is so delicious!
Hi Paddy... Quality as always in my favourite town... Just subscribed to help yer man in his quest with his channel.. Be happy , be safe... Andy,Herefordshire UK
Have to agree with Gary on this one! Best broth in terms of flavour. It was such a pleasant surprise to meet you both in Chiang Mai. Thank you for being so welcoming. Can't wait to see what's next for you both!
My favorite Khao Soi in Chiang Mai isn’t even on Google Maps. There’s a restaurant in the same location on Google Maps, but it doesn’t really exist. The location is near Kalm Village. Walk across the street and go around the corner to a blue building/opening and ask for Khao Soi. The noodles are a bit thicker than those I tried, like Khao Soi Khun Yai. 50-60 Baht depending on the meat you order
This video came just in time. Headed to Chiang Mai and Pai in two weeks. Only have 6 nights between the 2 towns. We’ll definitely try all three places! Thank Paddy! You’re the inspiration for this trip.
Met you at Khao Soi in Nimman Paddy, both you and Gary were gents in real life just as you are on video. It was a shock to learn I was over paying for Khao Soi 🤣
I’ve been following Gary since the first video you guys did together on your first adventure through Thailand! You’re going to keep soaring high, guys!
I'd say don't overlook Ong Thong just because it's a chain restaurant! Khao soi is their signature dish and it's always superb, and best of all, you can find it in Bangkok so you don't have to go all the way to the North to get wonderful khao soi.
You're my man Gary! I do prefer Khao Soi Khun Yai too. You guys were lucky there was no queuet- there used to be a queue every single time I went there in November.
Aw wish you guys had done this a few weeks ago when we were in Chiang Mai .. would have been great to meet you both 😊 maybe next time ! .. Or maybe do a food tour in Bangkok with Gary 😊
I just came back from Chiang Mai. I really like it because of the Anantara view. which is the former British consulate along the Pil River and I went to Kangsadan Waterfall Upstairs there is a coffee shop and pine trees. along with a very beautiful view from afar.🤗😊🤙❤️
Paddy! My wife and I are actually in Chiang Mai right now, for another week. We decided to stay here after watching your videos! Anything going on in Chiang Mai this week that's not to miss? We have done all the obvious things in the area and are wondering if there's anything special or relatively unknown that we should see or do before we leave for Koh Lipe!
p.p.s. My fav joint so far for khao soi has been Boon Song in old town. 40 baht for cheapskates. Killer broth. Chicken meat falls off the bone. And for what it's worth, I've always gotten a seat at lunch time (1215pm) and I've only ever seen locals.
I agree Khao Soi Khun Yai is in the top three. I have not been to Khao Soi Nimman or Mae Sai but I will tomorrow. Don’t forget Khao Soi Islam and the Khao Soi at Kanomjeen Sanpakoi. Also I discovered a place called Nice Moo Satay on Changklan Road across from the Astra Condo that is easily as good as any of the “famous” Khao Soi spots. In Chiang Rai check out Khao Soi Por Jai on Jet Yod Road. Nice vid! Thanks for the two new suggestions for my Khao Soi tasting tour!!!
Best place to eat Khao Soi for sure. But you should have made the extra mile to Khao Soi Lung Surin on top of the mountain Doi Pui. It was the best I ever had ♥️ Thanks for the video - keep on telling the world about the fantastic Thaifood. And congratulations to Gary 👍🏻
Hiya, Paddy, and Gary. It was so good to see you doing a live video with Gary. Good fun. It seems it has gone now. The video. I have seen noodle shop number 2. Featured a lot in videos. I am with Gary eating the same meat. I feel so bloated if I mix meats. Gary is a legend with his knowledge of spices and ingredients. I love his passion for food. And believe he will be as big as MW. Pigeons. I hate them. Especially near my head. LOL. Love you two are mates. You have great chemistry. Like you have been mates for years. Great to see the other side of the questions. After watching the live stream. Great video. Wishing you a Happy Thursday.
Awh we didn’t get to visit chia g mai this time but we did go to a restaurant in Koh lanta and they were from the north so we got to eat khao soi (spellcheck) and it was delicious!!

Not really in the city but the best kao soi I ever had was at Doi Pui. About ice-cream... check out 'door bell ice-cream ' in Chiang Mai. Very good stuff
I see the bromance is gettin better Boyz 🤣 And Gary you are not that good in math, first time you ate Kaw Soi was about 10, 12 or 13 years ago in 2008, 5555 🤣🤣🤣 anyhow, love your energy together. Ate mine the first time about 4 years ago in 2019, and last year was the best in Chiang Mai, at a Michelin star restaurant. It was the best so for for me. Thanks for sharing Boyz, and as always, C Ya in the next one Gary and Paddy, cheers 🙌🍻
I tried checking out the first two spots but it was a Sunday so both closed.. though I did find an amazing one out by the ping river called Khao soi Lamduan Fa Ham.. (local recommendation) was fantastic and up there with the top ones I’ve tried. The spot at baan doi pui is very good as well. But if in bkk the one Gary recommended just cross into thonburri side is up there too.
Hello Paddy, greetings from British Columbia, Canada. Firstly, I've thoroughly enjoyed your travel adventures now for about 2-years. I've noticed something that I'm sure you are aware of. Before this clip, I went back to the time you were travelling all the provinces in Thailand on Dreamy, touring through Lopburi. What I've seen is that your subscriber numbers are about the same today as they were back then, @ 135K. Other vloggers I follow have added 100k subscriptions in the same time. Perhaps just a subtle nudge is all it would take just to ask those who visit your channel at the start of your clip to 'like & subscribe', and to hit the notifications bell if they liked your content. And, from my perspective, why wouldn't they like your content?! Just a suggestion, Paddy. Above all, just keep doing what you're doing... I love your work 👍
I really enjoy seeing you two love birds vlogging together. 😋I already had 2 of the 3 on my list of decent Khao Soi restaurants in Chiang Mai to try. Added Khao Soi Nimman to the list.
gary was right..same here in malaysia..we kinda boring whenever UA-camrs/vloggers upload video and title would be like.. can't believe this is Malaysia..we shocked this is malaysia..malaysia surprised me/us 🤣🤣🤣..cheers gary ! congratulations on your 50k
You should try Mae sai (North of Chiang Rai) Kao Soi and Lampang Kao soi. Different recipes from Chiang Mai. In Mae sai You must go to Pa Roi Kao soi. My husband comes from Chiamg Mai He loves Pa Roi Kao soi. In Lampang you can go to Ta krao noi or Kao soi Islam.
Hi Paddy, we're taking the night train to Chiang Mai Saturday from BKK...please, don't eat all the Khao soi! Leave some for us! All the way from Cape Town, have a heart! Maybe we get lucky and bump into our favourite UA-camr! Jaco and Louise.
Paddy. I am trying to find one of your videos. A hidden forest that you can only get to via a cave entrance. You showed us in one of your videos. It was a forest area that is surrounded by rock cliffs. Please help. Love your videos.

He told the truth, Paddy. That you are his fav UA-camr. You guys are a good friend for a reason.
Khao Soi Maesai for me every time. I've never had a bad bowl of Khao Soi anywhere in Chiang Mai.
First dish I tried when I arrived in Chiang Mai in 2012, was Khao Soi and I fell in love with it instantly.
Love it when you and Gary hangout together.
It's just one of those dishes you never forget!
I’ve just finished lunch at Khao Soi Khun Yai, the beef was to die for, absolutely delicious. Thanks for the recommendation guys.😊
Khao Soy Maesai...in my humble opinion!
If I had one week to live, I'd eat there once a day until I keeled over! I prefer the authentic mouth feel and taste, of course.
It's been over three years, and my mouth is still watering!

Love your videos. Was in kampot nearly 20 years ago, it's changed but still looks wonderful. Keep up the great work. Thanks
nice video Gary and Paddy. I enjoy it. Cheers to Gary for hitting 50k.
They always give me a warm welcome and treat me like a local (When I'm in CM I do tend to visit and eat there 3-4 days a week though!)
Only problem I have with Khao Soi Khun Yai is that it is too popular (probably due to 5 stars on TripAdviser and the fact they only open for 4 hours a day).

Hey m8, we just went to 2 of the places of the video, and we just loved it. Just want to thank you for the great content!
Glad to hear that
I've done all these restaurants and others.

Khao soi Maesai, hands down. And after the best Khao Soi in the world walk down half a block to Seasons Ice Cream. Heaven. Miss Chiang Mai so much.
We discovered you Paddy through watching Gary! I’m surprised he’s only at 50k followers. Great vid 👊🏼
Great video again Paddy

Khao soi overload. Love these colabs with Gary! 🙂
Have to agree with Gary on this one! Best broth in terms of flavour. It was such a pleasant surprise to meet you both in Chiang Mai. Thank you for being so welcoming. Can't wait to see what's next for you both!
I remember eating Khao Soi in 1976 in Chiangmai arriving in a bicycle taxi or samlor which cost 5 baht and the Khao Soi was 15 baht
The moment I inadvertently walk into shot [6 minutes, 23 seconds in] but it was great catching up briefly with you afterwards, Paddy! J
Please also try Nam Nguew, another version without coconut milk.
Recently on a family holiday in Regional Australia I had a Duck Khao Soi which was amazing, very rich as you could imagine.

Thanks for pointing out the vegan ice cream option! What is the best vegan Khao Soi in Chiang Mai?
Reminder to self...'Next time I go to Chiang Mai I must try Khao soi' 😉👍
Most recently, the Khao Soi as the most delicious noodles and soup in the world, especially Khao Soi in Chiang Mai.
I have been to the first 2 shop. I found the 1st shop soup base was too sweet . I ❤ the 2nd one per Paddy 😊
Great Video Guys
My favorite in Chiang mai is Joke Somphet. It's 70 baht and delicious 😋
