It's so good to have made some memories here with you bro - thanks also for taking time to comment! So now we’ve been East together, and North, clearly we need to plan a Southern trip somewhere sometime soon!! 🚀🚀🚀👌🏼
Good Morning Li & Joel & the entire Bru Crew ... Happy Monday and I do like your new clothes! How nice of you to treat your Beautiful Bride, Li, with a Nood feast! Peace be with you on this wonderful Lord's day (in the USA). Have a Blessed new week !
Joel and Yan Lan love seeing the chickens running around and nice to see uncle and auntie again anything with noodles aroi, too cute in your wear Joel love the hat very appreciative you wore the garment respectfully for the people. Hi to Martin good seeing you both, safe travels ❤
Joel great video about mong food and culture.I remember when you and Mark Did several videos on the Mong people.I just watched one of them last week. Food looks de delicious 😋 Love ya!!!💕💕💕🥰🙏🏻
Good evening, hello Deneen!! Greetings from Bangkok. I hope you’re having a great day today :-) thank you always for the encouragement. Yes you do have a good memory. I’m glad you were able to bring back some of those cool old videos. Very special time.
Paul!!! Man oh man what a place. Well honestly as now it seems SO many people have seen my Instagram/UA-cam recommendations for this exact restaurant, they’re actually quite busy with tourists now… and I would still tell you to visit!! For sure… but I am also now looking for a new place (a new yet to be discovered gem of Khao soi), so you can join me on that!!
It's nice to watch another video with you and Martin. I love the costume change, Joel😅. I've always wondered how Martin always pulls off wearing a suit in the Thai humidity?!
And, I definitely wondered the same, the answer is two-part - he has gotten used to the humidity, as have I :) over 10 years living here now for both of us… but also, he has tested a few fabrics for this exact reason!! He said some previous shirts were totally impossible 😂😂😂
Saibaidee Joel! Definitely remember your videos of this spot. The Mung Bean trail mix in the Kao Soy is interesting. Love that Uncle saw your bowl was low on broth and snatched it to get it refilled.
Thank you James, we will keep up the good stuff with your constantly encouraging words man, I really appreciate it!! You are consistent, and always awesome 😎
Thanks so much Ian man!! And just seeing the morning greetings from you today are awesome as well!! Happy Monday man! Greetings back to you (from Bangkok) - Have a great week.
Hey hey Eva!! Yes do you see my metal Tie? Super tie, he actually gave me a special one (I didn’t go into much detail but we were actually “dressing” for like 20 minutes)
OH MAN Benny, no one has such (excellent) ideas as you :) hahaha this is making me laugh imagining if it were true… and what the photos would be like trying to advertise!!!! Hahaha
DUDE! awesome vlog! Food looks amazing and when you say the Chilli is hot man thats a time to hold back on the chilli lol 😂 you looked very smart in your Hmong get up too lol 😜 .. gotta get out to Chang Mai soon missing Thailand big time! Love to you n Li x
JP Man :) cheers to an overwhelming amount of chili oil, haha, making everything just drowned out around you, the whole world (the eater's whole world) just seems to be limited to the bites in front of them... hahahaha. A great picture. Man, I do hope someday for your own visit to Chiang Mai, but also I love how positive you are with all your own days, whatever they hold, because THAT is a key to life. Thank you for the message man.
Shawn good evening man. Good to know that you have experienced these beautiful areas, these recipes as well. Yeah good memories continue… nice to have a chance to visit this place with Martin!!
Love Baan Hmong! Haven't been there in years though. Hope they're OK in all this rain. WOW! Pt lll of the same Khao Soi place! Good! It's sure to help them! Too crowded at the places in town that are now famous. Just was on the Live stream but needed more Joel positivity after the stream cut off! Hey! As an idea for videos; chase down the original Khao Soi at the Myanmar restaurants in Chiang Mai. There are many that could use some boosting. Like Klong Khum (up a few sois [haha] from Payod Shan.) I don't think anyone has tracked down org Khao Soi (maybe Gary Butler, the 'Roaming Cook'?) OTR just did a great little documentary on Burmese food.
Hey hey Don! I remember you asking, I remember this message (I doubt this guy you are mentioning has tracked down any origins of anything :) but ok... I will check out the OTR!) - but also, I did have the privilege once of traveling to several places in Northern Laos (which would have been very close to "Original Khao Soi"), followed by northern Thailand, with Dr. Hanuman, possibly the most knowledgable Thai chef in the world, surely one of... Mark made the video :)
Hey Jim, yes! That’s me assuming that youve seen the other 2 videos we made here (which do include the whole story), so for many I guess this video would seem like a “first visit?”
I like it! Hey hey great to see your name, man, I don’t know what you mean but… I can say this was a very fun memory, great to bring Martin here, a fun day for sure.
@@JoelsTastyRide everyday is a Great day.. it’s all in one’s perspective, right? Can’t make it out to Thailand this year as I’ve got much bigger stuff that needs my pulling some mighty strings to get someone looked after 🙏🙏

Na Hak! Good morning! Thanks for getting super excited about this dish so rich in both history and flavor!! Many times on many trips to Luang Prabang I have enjoyed the tomato broth, clear and without coconut milk, much more basic and still so good, as well as trips to Northern Thailand (Chiang Rai) where one can have this "Original style" Khao Soi (which does not look very much like the orange curry milky thick broth, for sure!) - both are wonderful but yes its so good to be able to appreciate the history :) again, great to see you!! Thank you for the message.
I think is delicious!! And really unique! The thickness of the stew was incredible 😮 Joel really knows where to find the best foods! 🔥

Thanks Joel. Khao Soi must have adapted to the Burmese HKAUK-HSWEAR at some point in history. The Burmese also add Coconut Milk.
Awesome to see you back again, Tim!! Thank you for the message man (and the good pronunciation, yes!!!!)
Joel dressed up sends vibes to slip on a Belly Dancing outfit🤔… errrr okay on Joel but not me😂. Bring on the Khao Soi 🤤
