  • FMA 101- EP 28: Here we show the basics of largo mano (long hand) a long range fighting tactic used to hit and not be hit. Largo Mano practitioners are known for hitting their opponent and not being hit while the other fighter attacks at the same time. Largo Mano styles include Orginal Giron Escrima from the late SGM Leo Giron and Garimot Arnis Training (GAT) founded by Gat Puno Abundio Baet.

Very. I like largo Mano too. It’s different, but I like it a lot. Once you get that timing and footwork down, it’s awesome.

It's a different flavor, but it's awesome once you get the hang of it.

This style should be a must learn for everyone doing FMA. You could really see its practicality. As far as I know also, Larga Mano was tested in the battlefield.

We agree, all ranges should be covered while training (short, medium and long). Long range training is definitely different because the timing, footwork and position is key. But once you get the hang of it, as GM Michael Giron told us, "largo is King if you have the space for it."

This art was combat proven by GM Leo Giron while fighting as a member of the Bolo Batallion in the mountains of the Philippines during WW2. The concepts are very good and practical.

Agreed, once you get the footwork and timing down, SGM Leo Giron's son GM Michael Giron said, "largo mano is king if you have the room for it."

Salamat. We try to break down and give as much information for beginners. We know that old school teacher's had difficulty explaining things in detail in the past, so our goal is to give as much visual and audio so people can learn.

I tell people learning largo first i feel is extremely more important cause you probably won't be ever be touched. Do the damage and never let them get in your space lol

We agree, largo is king if you have the space for it. Just like the military, bomb the enemy from a far before sending in the troops LOL.

@@MattieBoii209 This is not for sport, but we always have the trolls saying, "that won't work, how come we do that that in MMA?" Umm...it's because we're dealing with weapons??? SMH...weapons are meant to do one thing, end the fight as fast as possible.

Many of those moves can perhaps save lives wihen used by batonized police officers. Against an armed criminal?

It can be taught to anyone including police, but it requires time, training and constant exploring. It has to be constantly reviewed and tested. Distancing, timing and angles are very important. It scenario changes when a threat is coming from out of nowhere as opposed to the dueling 1-on-1 approach.
