Dwarf Tarantulas are Giants on the forest floor

- Besides the gigantic tarantula spiders there are also miniature species of tarantulas out there. And most of the time, they are even more colorful! Especially this amazing looking Hapalopus species we have filmed here.
Unlike their bigger counterparts, these small tarantula species which only reach a few inches in size, only live around 10 years - still a remarkable age for an invertebrate!
Since everything is based on perspective, these tiny tarantulas are still giants among other insects on the rainforest floor!

Great footage and tight presentation as always! I highly recommend this channel!
Btw, is this Hapalopus, and what region of S America did you find this one?
that is a Hapalopus species we have seen in Colombia and made its way into the hobby already, undescribed species.
Looks like my pumpkin patch
@@shanewinstead6776 for sure. I also have a “pumpkin patch”, but a Hapalopus from one part of Colombia may be genetically distinct from those in other nearby inter-montane valleys.
exactly, "Pumpkin patch" really is a common name which fits all Hapalopus species - there are at least five or six different ones even present in the hobby
Gorgeous young Hapalopus sp. Thanks for the clip Martin
This one looks beautiful 🥰
Beautiful specimen. I believe that is what we call in the hobby Hapalopus sp 'guerilla' thought I don’t no for sure. Hapalopus is a wonderful genus. Another species that I find a stunner if hapalopus butantan. Do you have a favorite for this genus. Wish you the best Martin.
