My heart hurt watching Greg realize what has happened to what he has believed for so long. What a gracious and honest man and I pray he finds the peace and truth of the Word of God.
My exact thoughts, that moment when he realized. I felt so much compassion for him.
What spiritual devastation Greg is going through. We should be compassionate toward this man. None of us have all the answers or understanding about our relationship with Jesus. His belief about Jesus has just been shattered. It will take him time to process what it all means. Pray for this brother!
💯 % but he’s better off in the long run. He does appear to be a man of humility. I think he’s going to be alright.
A couple hour conversation doesn’t unravel a lifetime of belief and devotion. We are not robots, we’re humans. While logic and reason informs our decisions, we are, at the core of us, emotional beings.
I want to believe this man turned from his path of destruction. But, I doubt he did. I think he probably doubled-down and found ways to rationalize the “truth” of Mormonism.

I'm in the process of leaving the church at the ripe old age of 17, right around the time everyone starts asking me about my mission. I meet with my bishop tomorrow to talk about this stuff and this video provides, by far, the best and most comprehensive case against Joseph Smith I've seen thus far. It provides lots of evidence for the things that I have been feeling as I learn more about church history and the contradictions the LDS scripture has with the bible. Thank you for this. The Bible is beautiful and I have accepted it as the word of God, uncorrupted, and for that I praise the Lord Jesus, my God.

If you read the Holy Bible in its entirety, and pray for understanding, then you will know with certainty that Joesph Smith was a false prophet.

Thank you for being gentle with the Mormon guy. Having come out of a cult myself, it is extremely distressing to be awakened to the truth of Christ/bible. My heart was going out to hime as I watched this podcast.
Hey Wendy, I’m glad you got out of whatever cult you were in and found Jesus. Truly, it’s so painful to face new ideas and changes, even when for the better. I myself a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and am happier than I’ve ever been. Personally, through my own research, prayer, fasting and striving to grow closer to God have come to find it as the place that draws me nearest to my savior and Lord Jesus.
Anyway, I just wanted to comment to thank you for your love and compassion. Regardless of our differences in beliefs, I am always touched by the love that drives many of my other Christian brothers and sisters to approach me and others in an attempt to show us that which has brought them so much joy.

I say this with all due respect because I really don't like arguing, but unfortunately this video is intellectually dishonest. With regard to the loss of plain and precious truths that were lost after the apostles, he fails to there were no New Testament books in the Dead Sea Scrolls, so you can't look to the dead sea scrolls for evidence of corruption AFTER the apostles among a group of texts that were all written BEFORE the apostles. He's being blatantly dishonest.
With regard to the prophesy that Jesus will be born at Jerusalem, Alma was speaking to people in the Americas in the first century AD, more than 500 years after Lehi left Jerusalem. In other words, he is speaking to a group of people who have absolutely no concept of Israeli geography. Of course, no one that lived in Israel would have conflated Jerusalem and Bethlehem; they knew the geography well. But for people who knew nothing of Israeli geography, they would have no idea what Bethlehem is. In all likelihood, they only knew that their ancestors came from Jerusalem, so saying Jesus will be born in Jerusalem was about as specific as Alma could have been with them. Again, its an intellectually dishonest argument.
As for lack of historical copies of the Book of Mormon, of course there aren't. God wants us to rely on the witness of his Spirit over the work of mortal archeologists. That's why Jeremiah said "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD." Jer. 17:6. Even with all the copies of the New Testament we have, it only proves that people believed in Jesus. None of it proves the Lord actually walked on water or healed the sick, those books only prove that other people believed it. For us to believe it, we have to go by the witness of the Spirit, same as we do with the Book of Mormon. And that same Spirit that testifies that the Bible is true also testifies that the Book of Mormon is true.

Greg seems like a genuinely sweet and thoughtful man. He's unusually honest with himself, and just watching him going through this is painful, but I pray it touched his heart and God used it to change his life forever. Bless his heart.
My heart goes out to Greg. As a Christian I can not imagine being in his position and having your faith completely discredited. He grew up in the Mormon religion so he didn’t know better than to wholeheartedly believe what he was taught. I hope his life is richer having learned THE TRUTH.

It is striking that each of us is lead to feel compassion and love towards Greg. He seems like us, he seems to want to do what is right before God, but he has to overcome the lies he was taught as a child. It should open our own eyes to some of the lies being taught in our own churches. For we are not perfect in our doctrine when we divide by domination, I cannot say that I am of Paul, or you are of Peter and be righteous... Rather we must be one faith... I could go on, but I do not want to take away from this video as it is based in truth.

He’s a rare one, I know from my own journey that very few Mormons (including myself) would ever listen like that without doubling down and blasting you with their “testimony” of every single thing they’ve been taught since childhood
Pray for this ex-mormon man! That he may believe in the true Jesus and the true Bible! I don't know if he has, but I trust that he did!
Think on this. Joseph Smith knew Christ was born in Bethlehem, so why, if he was writing fiction to convince others it was scripture, would be place that in the book of mormon? At a 4th grade education, he writes a 500 page novel in very few days, but misplaced Christ's birthplace? Bethlehem is in the land of Jerusalem. At 6 miles from the actual city of jerusalem. How many New York City "New Yorkers" live in the Bronx or Queens?
Born Mormon, served a mission… all that none sense! Today I am a saved Christian resting in the finished work of Christ. I often wonder why the Lord has saved my soul and brought me out of those lies, lies that were instilled in me since I was a child. Glory to God, the eternal, uncreated, holy God of the Bible.
Perhaps because God knows the very heart of you and that you would follow Jesus. You have obviously done this, praise God, dear brother. Your words show that you are humble in our Lord, as well. Only those who speak as you have spoken, here, are humble.
It is simple, God loved you before you were born, and he is Gracious.

Once again I would caution and warn against any Denomination or other religion other than Judimaism and Christianity. Even Christians need to be warned not to stray from support of Judaism. They are Prophetically connected and must be protective of each other or face separation from ALMIGHTY GOD'S FAVOR

It is heart wrenching to watch Greg wrestle with this. I was raised Mormon and I know the feelings he is experiencing. Please, everyone, we need to pray earnestly for Greg. He is clearly open. Christ is knocking on his door. What a victory it would be to see Greg become a brother in Christ!
I felt the same as you and so many about the struggle Greg was going through. I could see God touching his heart and I fully believe Greg will come to believe and understand that God's word is the true word. I believe the Holy Spirit will continue to work in his heart and he will find his way to the Truth and accept Jesus into his heart.
Cognitive dissonance can be brutal.
The remnant pieces that he is claiming are found in caves in Jerusalem are cartoons and not the originals and it just shows them walking in a dirt cave which does not really show evidence and when I was a Mormon I remember them teaching me that the discrepancies in the Bible happened with King James when he got all the religions together and made them agree on a single Bible so they had to change it to be agreeable with everyone to King James liking. This is just some things I'm noticing. I also noticed that the Mormon he is interviewing is probably a common lay Mormon who hasn't studied a lot about the Bible the book of Mormon or the Mormon religion itself he probably just goes to church every Sunday and reads the scriptures sometimes.

Whilst King James wanted a translation from the originals to divert power from Rome and to solidify his own, he ironically put the hands of the Bible into the common man and allowed the peasant (if they were literate) to read the Scriptures which previously was almost impossible as it was reserved for clergy and exclusively in Latin and not English. The Bible was previously only Latin reproductions of the Latin Bible.
as someone who spent a decade in the mormon faith I can tell you the church has been corrupted same as the catholic church,

@cindybin2001 It's hard to have your beliefs challenged, but no one in this video is forcing anyone to do anything. All anyone can do is review the facts for themselves and come to their own conclusions. If you would say that because these are Christians making this video, it proves they're biased and can't be trusted, then I would suggest that the Mormon site you mentioned is guilty of the same bias and likewise cannot be trusted.
Cognitive dissonance is a very real thing and all the evidence in this video is presented straight from the locations and texts themselves. If the Mormon in this video didn't have better evidence to show for his side, that's no one's fault but the Mormon Church, but it's not his fault. He seems a kind and caring soul. I suggest you consider watching this video with an open and honest heart and mind, and if you can disprove its contents with better evidence, then do so. But don't come here just to make others feel or look bad for believing the evidence they've been given here. Only God can change a heart.

My heart breaks for Greg. To spend his life learning and loving what he was taught, this had to be very difficult for him, both at the time, and since. The stakes are so high for Mormons, both in their learned life, and in the one they do not have due to being led astray. I pray for Greg, and all those Mormons I do not know, and all those that I do. Lord Almighty, please deliver these people.

Ohh not at all, Rejoice for Greg! As he looks to be a truth seeker of God, and through Greg's own path, God revealed himself to him. Greg will soon join Jesus Christ Church, and be blessed with true knowledge of Him.
And yet, what he has to gain is so much more and tremendous in comparison to religion and tradition. He can gain Christ! He is the truth!
Many if us had to go through similar journey to abandon things we considered dear. But once you realize what is truly valuable, former things will fade away even if it might be painful at first.

I have to give Greg a lot of credit. You know that it must have been tearing him up inside to have his faith challenged in this way.

He looks to me like a true Man of God: In what he loves God and is looking for him, sincerily in his heart. This whole thing, might have been unconfortable, but a huge leap forward for him.

You can try to win an argument to destroy someone, or you can try to win an argument by being gentle, humble, loving, and win that person over to the Lord, and that's exactly what he's doing here, the work of the Lord!

Ex Mormon here...the Bible itself refutes Mormon teaching as I discovered in a personal reading of the Bible. First point I discovered...I was always taught that Mormonism is the "one and only true church". But in revelations Jesus tells us that he will visit seven churches when he returns. Such a simple statement, but one that certainly got my attention. Second point...Mormons believe that you are married and sealed to your spouse for all of eternity. But in Matthew when Jesus is questioned about the seven brothers passing a wife down after their deaths, Jesus replies that in heaven, we are neither married, nor given in marriage. These are just the first two examples of the Bible refuting what I had been taught as a child, and with each subsequent reading, Jesus reveals more of his truth. I am so grateful that Jesus reveals more of himself to me through each reading and pray that many, many, many others receive the same knowledge as they throw their book of Mormon away and focus upon the true word, the Holy Bible.
Please pray for my Mormon spouse to come to the true gospel of Jesus Christ. My heart weeps. Please pray 🙏🏼

I was raised in the Mormon church and many of my family members are still in the church and live in Utah. Praise be to GOD that I am now a born again follower of our great God and Savior JESUS CHRIST!

I am from Singapore. I am nearing 50, but in my teenage days when I have not yet dedicated my life to Christ, I was introduced to the LDS church here in Singapore. I thank God that while in that first meeting, something in my heart caused me to feel troubled. So troubled I was that I wanted to bolt out the door in an instant if not for my friend holding me back. After that day I told myself that I am never going back to that church. I soon found God a few years later and had been thankful ever since to know that one God that had remained true. I pray that Greg will find courage to walk out and be free.

With regard to the loss of plain and precious truths that were lost after the apostles, he fails to there were no New Testament books in the Dead Sea Scrolls, so you can't look to the dead sea scrolls for evidence of corruption AFTER the apostles among a group of texts that were all written BEFORE the apostles. He's being blatantly dishonest.
With regard to the prophesy that Jesus will be born at Jerusalem, Alma was speaking to people in the Americas in the first century AD, more than 500 years after Lehi left Jerusalem. In other words, he is speaking to a group of people who have absolutely no concept of Israeli geography. Of course, no one that lived in Israel would have conflated Jerusalem and Bethlehem; they knew the geography well. But for people who knew nothing of Israeli geography, they would have no idea what Bethlehem is. In all likelihood, they only knew that their ancestors came from Jerusalem, so saying Jesus will be born in Jerusalem was about as specific as Alma could have been with them. Again, its an intellectually dishonest argument.
As for lack of historical copies of the Book of Mormon, of course there aren't. God wants us to rely on the witness of his Spirit over the work of mortal archeologists. That's why Jeremiah said "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD." Jer. 17:6. Even with all the copies of the New Testament we have, it only proves that people believed in Jesus. None of it proves the Lord actually walked on water or healed the sick, those books only prove that other people believed it. For us to believe it, we have to go by the witness of the Spirit, same as we do with the Book of Mormon. And that same Spirit that testifies that the Bible is true also testifies that the Book of Mormon is true.

My sister is a morman.. she joined 2 years ago and has been telling me that she has been feeling that there was something wrong and has been praying for guidance and the truth too be revealed about the church.... Well here is the answer to her prayers! Thank you for the help GBYA ❤️

Nahum, Bountiful, etc. There is even a map of the route we think Nephi's family took based on what is in the Book of Mormon and real geographical areas in the middle east.

Dr. Kipp Davis is a Hebrew scholar. I understand this is an appeal to authority, but any Bible scholar who is not bound by a statement of faith pretty much agrees this is a typo and a bad translation from the Hebrew to Greek.

I gotta say that I have a lot of respect for the Morman guy. He looks at the truth and accepts that he has been mistaken. He takes it very well. Not an easy thing to do, especially on camera.
Prayers for both men, who courageously opened up a dialogue that could easily have been destroyed by anger and resentment and judgment, and who journeyed together to try to find truth. The integrity of both shows through over and over. I am grateful for the improved understanding i gained from this video.

The bar is quite low for being “saved” according to evangelical doctrine. Many LDS followers meet the standards of being saved. To exclude the LDS from being saved is an erroneous and judgmental conclusion.

I love how different sides and different beliefs have a peaceful talk without debating or arguing. It's just calm, detailed, and patiently explained. Also, how they both listen to each other calmly and willingly without getting aggressive or heated up in argument. I also love how they put the bible first to do all the work. The bible says that God's word is more piercing than a double-edged sword, so we encourage scripture, scripture does the big transformative work.
I know how he feels because I was raised in a Mormon household from the time I was born. My father was a Mormon bishop. My entire childhood was about Mormonism. As a teenager, I had to attend seminary before school where I was taught the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine & Covenants. Everything my family did had to do with Mormonism including most of our family vacations. Both sets of my grandparents warned me as a child that it was a lie. Because of them planting that seed of doubt, I started questioning everything that I had been taught. To make a long story short, I left the Mormon church the day I turned 18 years old. The bishop of the church sent me a letter that said they were revoking my baptism and taking the Holy Spirit from me and that God would hold me accountable for all the youth that I was leading astray. I lost my identity overnight. I had no idea who I was or what I believed and became so bitter. I spent years reading the Bible until finally one day, the Lord called me out of a world of darkness and confusion. I am so grateful the Lord delivered me and set me free and gave me a new identity in Christ. I pray that one day, my parents and brothers will be delivered. They are good people but as the Bible says, “they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.”
What a wonderful testimony. When reading the letters of Paul to the churches of his days, it constantly reminds me that the battle for consuming and spreading the right gospel is as ancient as the bible itself, yet as prevalent as in Paul's days.

I've recently come to realize the true gospel of Christ a few weeks ago and it finally all made sense after being confused in Mormonism for 17 years. I had seeds planted in my head for years but hearing the message of being saved by grace has been the greatest thing I've experienced.
I hope one day this cognitive dissonance I am having between Mormonism and Christianity can end and I can fully immerse myself in Christ

I just got back from my first trip to Israel and our tour guide there (a Messianic Jew) said, "You can only preach the gospel to a humble person." This man was trying so hard to set aside his pride and ego and was so close to accepting that he had been sold a lie. I applaud him for having an open mind enough to sit down for that because it must have been a grueling experience. Praying that he has since done the research sufficient for his soul to let go and embrace Jesus. Incredible video!
I was a Mormon once. It took a lot of research proof to finally wake me up and admit that it simply wasn't true--after 40 years! The internet is helping so many of us.

Through studying in depth and research and truly pondering what I had been taught about the Latter Day Saint faith, I’ve been brought closer to it and to Jesus Christ. Even these arguments in this video were fairly easy for me to refute based on my own personal research. Still, I can certainly respect those who reach another conclusion regardless of what I believe

I am texting with tears because I have a true love for a Mormon family from my childhood. I'm now 67 and although I haven't seen them in decades I will never forget the kindness they showed me as a child. I have often prayed for them. Neither could I. That’s got to be a terrible feeling. Though I will say if Greg really does look into the arguments like he said he would, then he has nothing to fear. While I appreciated the video, I was disappointed by the overall lack of depth in every argument made. With even the most surface level research, it is so easy to disprove or refute every argument made against the church in this video. The scriptures were taken out of context, the nuance completely ignored. His arguments against archeology, Joseph smith, all of it was weak, out of context or frankly incorrect. I would encourage you to look into the arguments made a little more deeply and maybe look at actual Latter Day Saint beliefs regarding each of those criticisms made in this video. I’m not saying this will make you join the church or anything, but at least it might give you a better idea of why so many intelligent and successful people are part of the church and so dedicated. There is a lot that makes sense and even more that lines up with the biblical ancient church

I am a Christian and live in Utah. I have been researching how to better defend the Bible and finding ways to better present it to my LDS friends. This video is such a blessing, thank you!
I’m a Christian and just moved to Utah, there’s 3 guys on their mission here who I’ve talked to several times, I told them my hang-ups with Mormonism: Joseph smiths background, polygamy, the lack of historicity, the inconsistencies of the Book of Mormon. I’m pretty sure I may have inadvertently given them confidence in converting me, just by being nice and asking them questions about Mormonism. Any tips you have for me in regards to the missionaries? I just can’t believe what they do, but everytime I bring up why isn’t Jesus enough and living like he told us to, they always quote from the Book of Mormon. I’m supposed to meet with them in a week, and I don’t want to offend them, but I can’t help but want to get them to question why they are so dedicated to Mormonism and not Jesus alone.
I had a problem with what Brigham Young did with plural marriage that continues today in the offshoot of Mormon and damages young girls that are inducted into that kind of thing. I consider it molesting children and not Christian teaching what so ever.
By now youve met with them. One must be very careful when dealing with people in a cult. Historicity is a solid argument but so is the argument that faith cannot come from the personal revelation of one person. If they try to bring up Moses, theyd lose whichever way you take it. If you admit that Moses was wrong, their whole faith crumbles because it claims to be the continuation or true version of christianity which itself claims to be the continuation of Judaism. The second, and correct response, is that Moses did not have an individual revelation. G-d spoke to him, but everyone at Sinai heard G-d. In fact all the people were invited to ascend Sinai for the same experience Moses did but they stayed at the base and sent Moshe instead.

My uncle was born, raised and died as a Mormon. His wife of 76 years was the same. I wish they knew Christ like I did, but I pray that God will have mercy on them when judgement comes. I've been grateful that I know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I would not have it any other way.

This is a dumb question, What you are asking is the equivalent of asking which takes more precedence Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John? There are different things and lessons said in all 4 and each one is of value. Taking one of the 4 out and you would lose a lot of the message of God and story and witness of Jesus Christ.

That isn’t true. The abominable church is anyone, past or present, who claims to be of Christ with their lips but denies him in actions. (Matthew 7:21-23, James 2:14-26, Ephesians 2:10, Titus 1:16, Isaiah 29:13)
When Joel was talking to the linguist, the linguist avoided the topic. When asked about if the bible has been corrupted he doesn’t answer and insteads talks about the Book of Mormon manuscripts. What makes it even funnier is that Joel said there are no manuscripts like it completely negates what is said in 1 Nephi, it doesn’t. Nothing was said here that disproves what is said in 1 Nephi.

That is not at all how the apostasy is described in our church. This is why I don’t believe Greg is truly a member because most people would have given the answer of “the authority died with the apostles”. My answer would have been somewhat similar but not at all worded anywhere close to what Greg said. This whole section is pointless when you realize Greg isn’t saying that we actually believe. And again, having no manuscripts for the Book of Mormon doesn’t disprove the claim of things being taken out of the bible.

The New International Version (NIV) bible and every newer bible translation since 1900's is the biggest example of this. In Genesis 2:19 a translation such as the New Revised Standard Version uses "formed" in a plain past tense: "So out of the ground the LORD God *formed* every animal". The NIV's version is "Now the LORD God *had formed* out of the ground all the wild animals" to try to make it appear that the animals had already been created. Not only is the translation not correct but it misses the very point of the narrative and changes the meaning of the verse, that the animals were created in response to God's declaration that it was not good that Adam should be alone. The NIV has also changed verses to be more gender neutral, changing “mankind” into “human beings” for example.
Most newer translations have been translated from the manuscripts and they don’t match older bibles. Let’s compare the NIV to the KJV

Mark 10:18 in the 1611 edition of the King James Version reads "why callest thou me good? There is *no man* good, but one, that is God". The phrase ‘no man’ was removed from every subsequent printing of the King James Bible even though the same Greek word that underlies the 1611 rendition (oudeis) is also translated ‘no man’ in Revelation 7:9 and 14:3
1 Corinthians 7:8 when read in english says "To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain unmarried as I am." giving the impression that he is talking to all unmarried people and widows. However, The Greek word translated "the unmarried" (agamois) has a masculine ending, meaning it can only refer to males. Unlike English, in Greek (like many other languages) words referring to people have different endings depending on whether males or females are being talked about. It is far more likely that "the unmarried" was supposed to mean widowers, men whose wives had died. This makes good sense of the masculine ending and goes well with the accompanying "widows". It makes sense that Paul would deal with widowers and widows together. Hellenistic Greek (the language in which the New Testament was written) has no word for a "widower" so the Greek word "agamos" which is found in verse 8 and translated to "the unmarried", was used instead. So verse 8 would be better translated and *understood* as "I say therefore to the widower and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I". This is saying nothing about or is to people who were never married and is actually saying not to get remarried.
Should I keep hammering this point in with researching the KJV and what King James changed or do you all see it now? This was more or less off the top of my head and with about ~15 mins of research for clarification (The last 2 paragraphs I actually had saved for other "gotch ya" questions so that is why I knew it), what do think I could find out if I actually sat here and spent the time to research?

To clarify, when the Book of Mormon talks of plain and precious things being taken out of the gospel it isn't just meaning the bible, it is also how christians explain and teach the message of the bible. How the relationship of God and Jesus Christ is described, necessity of baptism and the proper way to do it and when you are really considered "saved", baptism for the dead/preaching to the dead, proper priesthood authority, the laying on of hands to recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost, keeping the commandments and not being a sinner and actually following Christ, exaltation, 3 kingdoms of glory, not worshipping idols (the cross and pictures/statues of Jesus Christ and Mary for Catholics), Creation ex Nihilo, Purgatory (For Catholics), God being a spirit, marriages continuing in heaven, and the importance of temples are all things that have been removed or changed or added later by creeds or you teach these things despite it going against the bible. All of this can be shown from the bible and/or history and I can very much expand on each of these points for anyone.

Nephi never mentioned where Jesus was born, it was Alma and he didn't say he would be born in the city of Jerusalem. Alma didn't say he would be born in the City of Jerusalem. Alma 7:10 “And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is *the land of our forefathers,”* The phrase “land of Jerusalem” is a common phrase in the Book of Mormon and is used by its writers to refer to the place they originally came from. When they talked about the city then they said the city of Jerusalem. Alma probably didn't know any other place in Israel besides Jerusalem and was saying that Jesus Christ would be born among the Jews, who lived in and around Jerusalem. Let me put that in perspective, if I told you I lived in Kensington you most likely wouldn't know where that is and would ask "Where is that?". If I told you I lived in Washington D.C then you would have a better idea of where that is and not ask me anything. Bethlehem even during Christ's day wouldn't have been very big or all that well known, let alone to someone who lived across the world.
Saying "the land of Jerusalem" isn't unique to the Book of Mormon. In 1887, some Ancient Near Eastern documents known as the Amarna letters were discovered and multiple letters say "the land of Jerusalem" . The ancient writer of El Amarna letter 290 even refers to Bethlehem as part of the land of Jerusalem. "But now even a town of the land of Jerusalem, Bit-Lahmi (Bethlehem) by name, a town belonging to the king, has gone over to the side of the people of Keilah" The phrase “land of Jerusalem” has also more recently turned up in a fragment from the Dead Sea Scrolls attributed to the prophet Jeremiah (4Q385a). In another fragment from the Dead Sea Scrolls, also related to Jeremiah (4Q389), a scholar restored the phrase “in the land of J[erusalem]” to a fragmented line. With Nephi leaving Jerusalem around the same time as Jeremiah and him having wrote down "land of Jerusalem" when referring to that land area it doesn't surprise me that people later on used the same phrase as Nephi. These ancient sources show that the “land of Jerusalem,” is actually evidence of the historical authenticity for the Book of Mormon.

That preaching is done by people who were appointed and believed in Christ in this life. Does the LDS teach that joseph smith translated the mormon bible with golden plates that no one else has ever seen? And if not how did the mormon bible come about (short version is fine if there is one, im not expecting you to write the entirety of mormon history). The official Bible we use is the KJV, though I personally read from the NRSV. The Book of Mormon is another story of a nation and people that believed in God and Jesus Christ and witnessed Christ's resurrection (Christ came down to them after His resurrection). Just as in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses shall all words be established, in the mouth of 2 or 3 nations shall they testify of Christ
To answer your question, there were many people who saw the plates, 11 of which can be read in front of every book of Mormon. David Whitmer, Oliver Cowdery, Martin Harris saw an angel (Moroni) who appeared to them and showed them the plates, you can read that in the Testimony of the 3 witnesses. 8 others Joseph just randomly pulled out the plates to show them, you can read that in the Testimony of the 8 witnesses.
David Whitmer, Oliver Cowdery, Martin Harris all eventually left the Church because of personal issues with Joseph but all of them never denied what they saw or there testimony of the Book of Mormon despite leaving (Martin and Oliver eventually came back before they died and testified of the Book of Mormon till there dying breath). Some of the 8 left but again, never recanted their statements.
Something that isn't in the Book of Mormon is that but you can read about in the Church's history books called Saints, is that there were others who saw the plates. When Joseph brought the plates home for the first time he showed them to his family wrapped in cloth, a guy named Josiah Stowell was there and he said (and testified in court) that the cloth fell a little to where he saw the plates a little, he died a faithful member. Lucy Whitmer (David's mom) told a story that during the translation process (Joseph Smith was staying with the Whitmer's at the time), Moroni came up to her and said that God has permitted her to see the plates because she had to do extra work. Emma Smith (Joseph's wife) said she felt the plates under a cloth and felt the engravings.
Also, a guy named Sydney Rigdon saw some of the same visions as Joseph Smith did, one being section 76 of the Doctrine and Covenants.
One day Joseph Smith, Sydney Rigdon and a guy named Frederick G. Williams were praying about how the Kirtland temple should be built and all of them saw a vision of what the temple looked like.
All of that was just off the top of my head, and not including some other things said from people after Joseph died. Name me another person who claimed Prophethood that experienced visions and angels with many other people and those people testify of it. Some of whom left them but still testified of what they said.
_"And if not how did the mormon bible come about"_ The short version is that Joseph Smith was led to a spot where the plates were buried, dug them up and was told to translate them into English and that God would help. Joseph then dictated it to a scribe (who for the most part was Oliver Cowdery) in about 3 months. He then took it to a printer who printed it and made it into a book for him. If you are kinda curious about the timeline, the 3 and 8 witnesses saw the plates after the Book of Mormon was done being translated but before it went to the printers so that their testimonies can be included into the Book of Mormon.

We also encourage people to read the Book of Mormon for themselves and ask God whether it is true or not. I did about 2 years ago now. I prayed and asked and after I asked a strong feeling of warmth immediately spread across my chest, something that I hadn't felt before nor have I felt as strongly since. After that, I researched my Church's history and saw all these miracles and testimonies. The Early Church's history and saw evidence of the apostasy happen as creeds came and changed things. Archeology and saw some pretty interesting evidence for the Book of Mormon, and even the Book of Moses and Abraham.
I say all that because while my testimony does have a spiritual aspect, it isn't just blind faith.

How did your process away from lds begin?
In my searching, I got that same feeling when I visited their temple, when they denied Jesus is God, I knew things were wrong in that place and never went back. Christianity is not a religion--It's a Way of Life.
As a former Mormon, I am thankful for finding this video. IT confirms many things that are important to consider.
As a Mormon, I was taught to use the Bible to prove the Mormon Church true. However, it was by taking the passages out of context that it was able to be done. It took a lot of soul searching and time in the Bible to discover that I had been trusting in a false Jesus.

To put it bluntly, the gospel every other Christian denomination teaches is a watered down version of what God's and Jesus Christ true gospel really is. How the relationship of God and Jesus Christ is described, necessity of baptism and the proper way to do it and when you are really considered "saved", proper priesthood authority, the laying on of hands to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, keeping the commandments and not being a sinner and actually following Christ, exaltation, baptism for the dead/preaching to the dead, 3 kingdoms of glory, doctrine of Adam and Eve, not worshiping idols (the cross and pictures/statues of Jesus Christ and Mary for Catholics), Creation ex Nihilo, Purgatory (For Catholics), God being a spirit, marriages continuing in heaven, and the importance of temples are all things that have been removed, changed or added later by creeds and/or Martin Luther and you teach these things despite some of it going against the bible. All of this can be shown from the bible and/or history and I can very much expand on each of these points for you.

Great video! I’m currently going through a faith transition out of the LDS church and after discovering that I had been misled I struggled to trust the Bible. It is nice to know that the Bible has actual historical evidence for its claims, unlike the BOM. I had no idea how much Joseph smith added to the Bible! I still go to church because of my family but I can’t stand it when I hear people stand up on the pulpit and call Joseph smith a prophet. I want to know who Jesus really is but don’t know who to talk to. Thank you for presenting this video so well, it has given be a renewed trust in the Bible.

I have found the answer in God's word over 42 years ago at the age of 30 and I was broken and thought that I would never know for sure of Heaven. I say this with all due respect because I really don't like arguing, but unfortunately this video is intellectually dishonest. With regard to the loss of plain and precious truths that were lost after the apostles, he fails to there were no New Testament books in the Dead Sea Scrolls, so you can't look to the dead sea scrolls for evidence of corruption AFTER the apostles among a group of texts that were all written BEFORE the apostles. He's being blatantly dishonest.
With regard to the prophesy that Jesus will be born at Jerusalem, Alma was speaking to people in the Americas in the first century AD, more than 500 years after Lehi left Jerusalem. In other words, he is speaking to a group of people who have absolutely no concept of Israeli geography. Of course, no one that lived in Israel would have conflated Jerusalem and Bethlehem; they knew the geography well. But for people who knew nothing of Israeli geography, they would have no idea what Bethlehem is. In all likelihood, they only knew that their ancestors came from Jerusalem, so saying Jesus will be born in Jerusalem was about as specific as Alma could have been with them. Again, its an intellectually dishonest argument.
As for lack of historical copies of the Book of Mormon, of course there aren't. God wants us to rely on the witness of his Spirit over the work of mortal archeologists. That's why Jeremiah said "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD." Jer. 17:6. Even with all the copies of the New Testament we have, it only proves that people believed in Jesus. None of it proves the Lord actually walked on water or healed the sick, those books only prove that other people believed it. For us to believe it, we have to go by the witness of the Spirit, same as we do with the Book of Mormon. And that same Spirit that testifies that the Bible is true also testifies that the Book of Mormon is true.
My heart breaks for Greg. His life's work is being challenged. Yet I am happy to see him look into this from a perspective that does challenge what he was taught. This should inspire all of us to be Bereans. Let us look into the things we are being taught and see if it is being taught correctly. Excellent documentary. God's word is truth.

I would say he definitely showed love and patience in this video, but I don’t think I would say his explanation of the Latter Day Saint faith was gracious. Watching through the video, there were so many mischaracterizations and inaccuracies when it comes to what we truly believe. The scriptures from the Book of Mormon were taken out of context, the argument concerning evidence of the Book of Mormon was inaccurate, the “false prophecy” of Joseph Smith was taken out of context. Honestly, every argument made was weak and faulty. While I think the video was well produced I am a little disappointed by the lack of depth in the arguments. The arguments weren’t well researched and honestly in less than a few minutes of research, most people would be able to debunk or refute every argument he made.

Regardless the (in)accuracy of the mornons' belifs presentation in this video, I find the basic argument of the author - that old testamental prophecies about Jesus Christ are accurate - as strong and logically convincing! Textological (epigraphic) and historical evidence is abounding. What cannot be said about the Book of Mormon. Therefore, there is no way to say along with J. Smith and his followers that original truth of God's Word was removed, hidden or perverted after the Apostolic period. Moreover, a Bible translation of J. Smith is very questionable because it turns to be more an attempt to rewrite, rework and expand the Bible. There were several attempts in history to do that (Marcion in the 2nd century AD denied the Old Testament, and Leo Tolstoy in 19th century had invented his own Gospel). By the way, there is not a single manuscript to confirm Smith's translation and/or to predate the Book of Mormon. Sorry, but textology and history are not on Smith's side of the road. 😢

After watching the first 17 minutes this video is one of the most dishonest videos I think I have seen about my church. Please don't fall for this.
When I have the questions written it is going to be more of the intent of the question instead of word for word what the question was. For example, the first question word for word was “this is what you would trust in or would it be like this” and with context with the video it makes sense but for this it wouldn’t. Also if there is a statement or something else I want to respond to then I will write it out. After watching this, there is no way Greg is an active member of our church and he definitely doesn’t know what he is talking about, I will explain as it comes up.

This is a dumb question, What you are asking is the equivalent of asking which takes more precedence Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John? When Joel was talking to the linguist, the linguist avoided the topic. When asked about if the bible has been corrupted he doesn’t answer and insteads talks about the Book of Mormon manuscripts. What makes it even funnier is that Joel said there are no manuscripts like it completely negates what is said in Nephi, it doesn’t. Nothing was said here that disproves what is said in Nephi.

That is not at all how the apostasy is described in our church. This is why I don’t believe Greg is truly a member because most people would have given the answer of “the proper authority died with the apostles”. And again, having no manuscripts for the Book of Mormon doesn’t disprove the claim of things not being taken out of the bible.

The New International Version (NIV) bible and every other translation since the 1900s are the biggest examples of this. In Genesis 2:19 a translation such as the New Revised Standard Version uses "formed" in a plain past tense: "So out of the ground the LORD God *formed* every animal". The NIV's version is "Now the LORD God *had formed* out of the ground all the wild animals" to try to make it appear that the animals had already been created. Not only is the translation not correct but it misses the very point of the narrative and changes the meaning of the verse, that the animals were created in response to God's declaration that it was not good that Adam should be alone. The NIV has also changed verses to be more gender neutral, changing “mankind” into “human beings” for example.
Most newer translations have been translated from the manuscripts and they don’t match older bibles. Let’s compare the NIV to the KJV

Mark 10:18 in the 1611 edition of the King James Version reads "why callest thou me good? There is *no man* good, but one, that is God". The phrase ‘no man’ was removed from every subsequent printing of the King James Bible even though the same Greek word that underlies the 1611 rendition (oudeis) is also translated ‘no man’ in Revelation 7:9 and 14:3
1 Corinthians 7:8 when read in english says "To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain unmarried as I am." giving the impression that he is talking to all unmarried people and widows. However, The Greek word translated "the unmarried" (agamois) has a masculine ending, meaning it can only refer to males. Unlike English, in Greek (like many other languages) words referring to people have different endings depending on whether males or females are being talked about. It is far more likely that "the unmarried" was supposed to mean widowers, men whose wives had died. This makes good sense of the masculine ending and goes well with the accompanying "widows". It makes sense that Paul would deal with widowers and widows together. Hellenistic Greek (the language in which the New Testament was written) has no word for a "widower" so the Greek word "agamos" which is found in verse 8 and translated to "the unmarried", was used instead. So verse 8 would be better translated and *understood* as "I say therefore to the widower and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I". This is saying nothing about or is to people who were never married and is saying for widows or widowers to not get remarried.
Should I keep hammering this point in with researching the KJV and what King James changed or do you get it now? The way words or text are translated can affect what is being said or meant and it can only take a slight variation for a verse to lose its original meaning. This was more or less off the top of my head and with about ~15 mins of research for clarification (The last 2 paragraphs I actually had saved for other "gotch ya" questions so that is why I knew it), what do think I could find out if I actually sat here and spent the time to research?

The Book of Mormon is true and Nephi was a real prophet who lived anciently. The Church of Jesus Christ is God's and Jesus Christ's true church here on earth, the evidence is there to back us up but the problem is people have to look at it and/or read and understand the bible. Modern North American archeologists don't know much about the people who lived here anciently and they definitely don't know the names of very many specific people, especially going as far back as 400 AD. I can give you evidence for the credibility of the Book of Mormon in general but if you are wanting a signed document then I can't produce a signed document from a Book of Mormon prophet because documents from that time period (600 BC - 400 AD) have not been found yet (or the Spaniards destoryed it when they came to America.)
Not to mention, every old testament prophet like Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, Noah, Moses, etc has no evidence they exist except for the bible. This straight up confirms, without requiring any speculation on the matter, that this was a commandment, not a prophecy, and that God mercifully rescinded it because of the Saints' literal inability to follow because of being persecuted by Missourians despite their best efforts. This isn't an apologists opinion, it is our scriptures straight up saying it was a commandment that God later revoked.
Yes in D&C 84:2-5 it does say “shall”, however from the Webster’s Dictionary 1828 definition of “Shall”: “In the second and third persons [i.e., when applied to another person], shall implies a promise, command or determination. "You shall receive your wages," "he shall receive his wages," imply that you or he ought to receive them; but usage gives these phrases the force of a promise in the person uttering them."

After i had visited many many other churches. I would like to know why you feel they are mislead, because i don't see that at all. After watching the first 17 minutes this video is one of the most dishonest videos I think I have seen about my church. Please don't fall for this.
When I have the questions written it is going to be more of the intent of the question instead of word for word what the question was. For example, the first question word for word was “this is what you would trust in or would it be like this” and with context with the video it makes sense but for this it wouldn’t. Also if there is a statement or something else I want to respond to then I will write it out. After watching this, there is no way Greg is an active member of our church and he definitely doesn’t know what he is talking about, I will explain as it comes up.

This is a dumb question, What you are asking is the equivalent of asking which takes more precedence Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John? There are different things and lessons said in all 4 and each one is of value. Taking one of the 4 out and you would lose a lot of the message of God and story and witness of Jesus Christ.

When Joel was talking to the linguist, the linguist avoided the topic. When asked about if the bible has been corrupted he doesn’t answer and insteads talks about the Book of Mormon manuscripts. What makes it even funnier is that Joel said there are no manuscripts like it completely negates what is said in Nephi, it doesn’t. Nothing was said here that disproves what is said in Nephi.

That is not at all how the apostasy is described in our church. This is why I don’t believe Greg is truly a member because most people would have given the answer of “the proper authority died with the apostles”. And again, having no manuscripts for the Book of Mormon doesn’t disprove the claim of things not being taken out of the bible.

The New International Version (NIV) bible and every other translation since the 1900s are the biggest examples of this. In Genesis 2:19 a translation such as the New Revised Standard Version uses "formed" in a plain past tense: "So out of the ground the LORD God *formed* every animal". The NIV's version is "Now the LORD God *had formed* out of the ground all the wild animals" to try to make it appear that the animals had already been created. Not only is the translation not correct but it misses the very point of the narrative and changes the meaning of the verse, that the animals were created in response to God's declaration that it was not good that Adam should be alone. The NIV has also changed verses to be more gender neutral, changing “mankind” into “human beings” for example.
Most newer translations have been translated from the manuscripts and they don’t match older bibles. Let’s compare the NIV to the KJV

Mark 10:18 in the 1611 edition of the King James Version reads "why callest thou me good? There is *no man* good, but one, that is God". The phrase ‘no man’ was removed from every subsequent printing of the King James Bible even though the same Greek word that underlies the 1611 rendition (oudeis) is also translated ‘no man’ in Revelation 7:9 and 14:3
1 Corinthians 7:8 when read in english says "To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain unmarried as I am." giving the impression that he is talking to all unmarried people and widows. However, The Greek word translated "the unmarried" (agamois) has a masculine ending, meaning it can only refer to males. Unlike English, in Greek (like many other languages) words referring to people have different endings depending on whether males or females are being talked about. It is far more likely that "the unmarried" was supposed to mean widowers, men whose wives had died. This makes good sense of the masculine ending and goes well with the accompanying "widows". It makes sense that Paul would deal with widowers and widows together. Hellenistic Greek (the language in which the New Testament was written) has no word for a "widower" so the Greek word "agamos" which is found in verse 8 and translated to "the unmarried", was used instead. So verse 8 would be better translated and *understood* as "I say therefore to the widower and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I". This is saying nothing about or is to people who were never married and is saying for widows or widowers to not get remarried.
Should I keep hammering this point in with researching the KJV and what King James changed or do you get it now? The way words or text are translated can affect what is being said or meant and it can only take a slight variation for a verse to lose its original meaning. This was more or less off the top of my head and with about ~15 mins of research for clarification (The last 2 paragraphs I actually had saved for other "gotch ya" questions so that is why I knew it), what do think I could find out if I actually sat here and spent the time to research?

To clarify, when the Book of Mormon talks of plain and precious things being taken out of the gosepl it isn't just meaning the bible, it is also how christians explain and teach the message of the bible. How the relationship of God and Jesus Christ is described, necessity of baptism and the proper way to do it and when you are really considered "saved", baptism for the dead/preaching to the dead, proper priesthood authority, the laying on of hands to recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost, keeping the commandments and not being a sinner and actually following Christ, exaltation, 3 kingdoms of glory, not worshipping idols (the cross and pictures/statues of Jesus Christ and Mary for Catholics), Creation ex Nihilo, Purgatory (For Catholics), God being a spirit, marriages continuing in heaven, and the importance of temples are all things that have been removed or changed or added later by creeds or you teach these things despite it going against the bible. All of this can be shown from the bible and/or history and I can very much expand on each of these points for you.
The Book of Mormon is true and Nephi was a real prophet who lived anciently. The Church of Jesus Christ is God's and Jesus Christ's true church here on earth, the evidence is there to back us up but the problem is people have to look at it and/or read and understand the bible. Let me put that in perspective, if I told you I lived in Glen Burnie you most likely wouldn't know where that is and would ask "Where is that?". If I told you I lived in Baltimore then you would have a better idea of where that is and not ask me anything. Bethlehem during Christ's day wouldn't have been very big or all that well known.
Also saying Bethlehem is in the land of Jerusalem isn't unique to the Book of Mormon. In 1887, some Ancient Near Eastern documents known as the Amarna letters, were discovered. Near Eastern scholar D. Kelly Ogden described these The ancient writer of El Amarna letter 290 even refers to Bethlehem as part of the land of Jerusalem. My heart breaks for this man. You can see the truth setting in his mind. A lot of what he was taught to believe and the things he has followed in his life he is realizing right here has been a lie. And I'm sure he knows the conflict to come when he leaves the Mormon faith between family, friends, and loved ones. Joseph Smith has been shown to be a false prophet here. There are no witnesses to his receiving the book of Mormon from heaven, no manuscripts predating his lifetime and no evidence in the 1,000's of early manuscripts of scripture of these so-called missing portions or different verses. It all originates with Joseph Smith. What more evidence do you need?

@cindybin2001 so I was reading on the debunking on it, and it was said that the Missouri temple during his lifetime one was resented later but profecy isn't supposed to be redone when it doesn't work out, it just wasn't profetic if it is changed. I use to be an LDs member what git me was Jesus saying you fools we are not married in heaven then also the water into wine showing us there is a time for it.
@@holzlastname1976 All three places this is said in (Matthew 22:30, Mark 12:25 and Luke 20:35) makes it very clear that it is talking about the resurrection. The Greek word there is "anastasei" which translates to resurrection. If they wanted to use heaven then they would have used "ouranō". They didn't, which is why it reads as "For in the resurrection (anastasei) they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven (ouranō)." How you equate Jesus talking about no marriage during the resurrection, an event, to meaning no marriage in heaven, a place, is beyond me. If you read our own scriptures then you will find it actually agrees with these passages. It says that if your marriage isn't by God then when you are dead you will not be married and be appointed angels in heaven. (If you care to look it's D&C 132:15-16).
In Greek, the language this was originally written in, the expressions “marry” (gamousin) and “given in marriage” (gamizontai) translate forms of the related Greek verbs gameō and gamizō, which have to do with the act of becoming married. The first verb is used here to refer to men and the second to women. If Matthew, Mark or Luke had wanted to say that Christ had said something like “Neither are they now in a married state" (because of previously performed weddings) then in Greek they would have used a perfect tense (gegamēkasin) or a participial form (gamēsas) of the verb. They did not, so that cannot be what Jesus meant. Jesus said nothing about the married state of those who are in heaven only that there isn't marriage during the resurrection.
The source of the story the Sadducees told Jesus comes from one of the books in the Apocrypha, Tobit. A woman was married to seven men, each of whom died on the wedding night but then had an 8th husband, Tobias the son of Tobit (because she belonged to Tobias by right of inheritance), that was decided in heaven and she would be his in the hereafter. (Tobit 7:10-11). Raphael (the archangel) was even sent to marry the woman to Tobias. (Tobit 3:17). Jesus probably had this account in mind when He told the Sadducees "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God" because they had neglected to note that the woman had married an 8th husband and that God had sent an angel to marry them so that there marriage was recognized in heaven. I would say that to you, You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's and Jesus Christ true church here on earth. We know and teach the bible better than any other denomination. Rejoin God and Jesus Christ in their Kingdom and rejoin their true church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and learn all that they have to offer. Learn of their glory and mercy, learn of the plan they have of you. Also, it is a historical fact that the wine being spoken of in the bible was more similar to grape juice than what we would consider wine to be.
I really feel for this man, it actually isn't fun telling people that they have been misguided all their lives. Evidence after evidence, you can just see his confidence & spirit be crushed as all he's believed & held dear his entire life crumbles before him 😢

I love this so much! You can see God’s gentle spirit whispering truth to him. Our God is for us ❤ Praise Jesus!
It's so hard to suddenly change your whole worldview. That guy has a whole community and family that he risks alienating himself, it's like dying. So I hope and pray for him and his whole circle of people that this is life changing for the better. Hopefully he doesn't just find some "research" confirming his old world view and keeping him in bondage.
My cousin converted after marrying a Mormon. Did you know if a family member dies and not a Mormon, you can have them baptized into the Mormon faith?
I don't understand how anyone could remain a Mormon after watching this episode. After seeing the New Translation of the Bible by Joseph Smith and the multitude of changes and additions, I would run from the Mormon faith. To actually teach that men can become gods sounds like the majority of the problem in the world today.
I pray this gentleman will keep his word and actually study what was pointed out. I pray he talks to others who have also "seen the light and errors of the teaching of Joseph Smith " and leave this cult.

If we cannot become like God, then knowledge is finite; because knowledge is power.
If knowledge is finite then we cannot progress & grow eternally. And if we cannot progress eternally then our work comes to an end, and if our work comes to an end then we'll be stuck in limbo; without anything to do. Doesn't that sound boring?
What are you going to do in eternity, if you have nothing to work towards? What are you going to do in eternity if there is nothing to gain knowledge of?
Because you grow with knowledge-- (and I assume knowledge is not finite) --I assume you can grow into a higher being; I.E, a god. If you're found worthy that is.
@@sethbagginsyou comment reveals a major root deception within Mormonism- focus of self. Works of self (rather than Jesus). Wisdom of self (rather than God). And all of these works and “wisdoms” are expressed (by you) as pointing to the ultimate goal of serving self (rather than finding satisfaction in the mercy & grace of reconciliation with your Creator). It all goes back to the garden where Adam and Eve had perfect communion with God and the serpent told them they could have more by being like God. Pursuit of self wisdom, self satisfaction, and self glory was within the original fall and it’s a powerful lie that Satan continued to use to this day. If the idea of spending eternity with God sounds boring to you, then you most certainly have a shallow, humanistic view of who He is and His great great love for you.

I know the God of patience, hope, and peace loves me and all of us with great long-suffering, and the rain and drought falls on the just & unjust. The well of his love & forgiveness never comes up empty for his elect. And the elect hear the voice of the Lord and harden not their hearts & stop not their ears.

How can you experience a fulness of immortality without first being mortal? If the fall was a mistake then God doesn't know how to plan ahead. If the fall wasn't part of the plan then why didn't satan get stopped? God knew satan was gonna come but satan is foolish and he ended up mistakenly doing God's work for him.
The world was planned with great minutia & so was the fall, so that our God could test us whether we would follow him out of our own free will & choose the right & kick-out the wrong, & bask in the light & shut out the dark. He doesn't want to force us to follow his will, so we make-up our own minds in this probation thru our works.

I say this with all due respect because I really don't like arguing, but unfortunately this video is intellectually dishonest. With regard to the loss of plain and precious truths that were lost after the apostles, he fails to there were no New Testament books in the Dead Sea Scrolls, so you can't look to the dead sea scrolls for evidence of corruption AFTER the apostles among a group of texts that were all written BEFORE the apostles. He's being blatantly dishonest.
With regard to the prophesy that Jesus will be born at Jerusalem, Alma was speaking to people in the Americas in the first century AD, more than 500 years after Lehi left Jerusalem. In other words, he is speaking to a group of people who have absolutely no concept of Israeli geography. Of course, no one that lived in Israel would have conflated Jerusalem and Bethlehem; they knew the geography well. But for people who knew nothing of Israeli geography, they would have no idea what Bethlehem is. In all likelihood, they only knew that their ancestors came from Jerusalem, so saying Jesus will be born in Jerusalem was about as specific as Alma could have been with them. Again, its an intellectually dishonest argument.
As for lack of historical copies of the Book of Mormon, of course there aren't. God wants us to rely on the witness of his Spirit over the work of mortal archeologists. That's why Jeremiah said "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD." Jer. 17:6. Even with all the copies of the New Testament we have, it only proves that people believed in Jesus. None of it proves the Lord actually walked on water or healed the sick, those books only prove that other people believed it. For us to believe it, we have to go by the witness of the Spirit, same as we do with the Book of Mormon. And that same Spirit that testifies that the Bible is true also testifies that the Book of Mormon is true.
@eesiii the book of Enoch was never considered a part of the Tanakh bc it’s not consistent with the Torah.
My heart breaks for this man. to have everything you based your life on come into question, is a hard hard thing. iv been there and it took many years to come out of a deep deep soul shattering depression, then i was faithless for years before i found faith again and was reborn. i hope this man finds his way and peace , ether in what he has knkwn his whole life or down a new path. my thoughts and prayers go out to you greg. may peace find your hear and soul for you seem a good man.

This is a phrase that I and many others have used to describe something that we learned in school that has later turned out to be wrong, and, most importantly, we recognize now that it was wrong.
who is Nephi? his Biblical geneology? what year was his writings? Where is the corroboration for these golden plates writings before they were supposedly taken back in to heaven? does this not qualify for 'in the mouth of two or three witnesses a matter is established'? So many more questions.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's and Jesus Christ one and only true church here on earth. We know and teach the Bible and gospel better than any other denomination. If something is heretical to your false creeds then that means nothing to us. That being said, only 2 things that I know of that we teach have been heretical teachings, being Souls being Eternal and baptism for the dead. But again, we don't care.
Instead of just a nothing statement, come up with an actual argument.
