The original ending has Carter way more warmer towards Alex and appreciative of sacrifice to save lives than even the actual ending from the finished product.
I find this ending so much more unsettling than the ending they used. The ending they used was "shoot, they aren't really safe and now they're gonna die" and this ending is "they are safe for now, but they will die one day too just like you and me"
Every time something like a coin or something drops, hits the floor and (bounces/rolls) off, I keep thinking it's gonna result in a chain reaction with me getting crushed by a plane.
Coin falls on floor, bounces off floor and lands in electrical socket that starts a fire. People start panicking, and a firetruck is called. Fire reaches air conditioning unit and starts poisoning the ventilation system. You escape just in time, and start stumbling from the C02 and end up falling onto the road just as the firetruck arrives. You get ran over by the fire truck.
Coin falls at airport, rolls into someone's path, they trip, fall, hit suitcase, suitcase knocks into girl with the tickets, drops tickets, wind blows ticket in plane engine, plane takes of, you die, death laughs
Even with this ending, they could have a sequel. And a more interesting one. When I first saw a trailer for FD2, I thought Tim was Alex. Tim could have been Alex’s son. Also if Alex had a vision because of being on the same flight with Sam. Then why did Kim had a vision? just because there were indirect survivors or maybe... What if the log truck in FD5 was supposed to fall along the other vehicles in the bridge collapse as well. Many people were saved there. What if all of them caused the rest of the events?
Alex died to break the circle of death so the reason is alex must die on that plane not others people coz he is who know that plane will gonna blow up. If alex not die the circle still go on, interesting~
This ending was better coz it meant "even tho we lost live of the main hero, he DID IT", the theatrical ending was "we never did it it was all for nothing"
Thank you. What's the point of learning knew information if it is useless. Of Alex died but the other survive, that would have been gold. A sacrifice from the Hero so the others could live is a way to go

They felt it was a cop out or a sort of bittersweet ending when all they wanted was more blood and less character development. Gamechamp3000 I think what the commenter meant was that, if the baby doesn't learn French, there's very little chance the baby wouldn't go to France. The airplane they were suppose to be on was going to France.
Gamechamp3000 no one else noticed that he was also born on may 13 which is the day flight 180 occurred so he was born on the 1 year anniversary of flight 180. Which would make the sequels non existent cus part 2 actually happened on the one year anniversary and clear was locked up in an insane asylum. I prefer this ending tho.

I gotta say...I wish they had used this ending. The series based its "villain" on the idea that death STALKS us just looking for any opportunity to strike and mutilate us. In reality, death is an inevitable truth of life. This ending gives us the flip side to death and shows how life begins a new. It gives Clear a real family and Carter a sense of closure. It showed real character development and yet still reminded us that death will come for them someday and that they shouldn't live in fear of it, rather in reverence of what they have been given. Its not that we die, its how we live. Thats what "the win" truly is.
I agree with you they could have had made sequels and have the characters ask clear and Carter on how to survive but death will try to sabotage them to keep them from messing up his design
Alex's parents helping her give birth and living in Alex's room were nice touches. test audiences complained about Alex dying, so maybe if he had lived and they had gotten to raise their son together, it would have been much more acceptable. this movie and Fatal Attraction are both movies that would have benefited from changing the ending. more so for Fatal Attraction though.
They should've just stuck with this ending. It is so much better. If they wanted to make a franchise, they could've just built off this ending. It is better for Alex to die because it would make sense if he died from the car explosion since Death planned that for him. And no, Carter is no longer a bully. Haven't you guys seen how Carter becomes friendlier over the movie? It would be better that at least Carter would stay alive so Clear wouldn't be so psychologically harmed like she was in the second movie. Now for a little skit: Alex Jr: Mom, do you know French? Clear: *cries*
Another one Alex Jr: mummy I've been offered to go to Paris on a vollee airline flight 280! Clear: S*it your not going! Alex Jr: why not!? clear: cries
+Douglas the Black engine number 10 I would have changed the flight number to 77, because the number 7 is supposed to be lucky and doesn't resemble 180 at all.
I really like this ending because it's so bittersweet. I actually prefer it to the one we got. Clear lost Alex, but she got a new family, which she didn't have. Notice how Alex's parents were there for the birth and she's now living with them. Alex Jr's room is Alex's old room. Little details that are shown, not told. And how the baby is a symbol of hope for the future. The ending is more optimistic, yet it's subtly ominous.
I prefer this version to the other version. Gives them hope and they can live a normal life without worrying if they will be next on deaths list and dying painfully. Plus clear lives with her baby, from her partner who she loved. More better, I feel when movies have too much killing gets kind of boring.
The Final Destination has a lot of alternate scenes, I never seen fd1, and 4 but all the alternate scene I remember is from fd3, Ashlyn got out of the tanning bed and hit her head, Ashley screamed for help and Ashlyn help her but ending up getting electrocuted, frankie was saved by Kevin but killed in jail for harrasing women, ending: after when Ian died, Julie Kevin and Wendy got up and go home, train version: Kimberly had the vision of Wendy get hit by a train and Thomas dosent know what's going on with Kimberly, then Wendy had the vision of Kim and Thomas in the train
I like to watch this ending after the one we have, to think that Clear had a baby after Alex was hit by the brick. I always liked to think Alex was put in a coma by it and his fate was uncertain, then Carter disappeared and it was assumed he died; once that happened and Clear thought she saw the signs coming again, she committed herself for both her and her son's safety. Then, in the sequel, she survives because she got away from the blast in Eugene's room quickly enough. My ending for Clear and her loved ones :)
I think that none of the characters should survive past two movies, and by that point, the last survivors should pass the buck to a new group. This is what happened between Clear and Kimberly in the second film. If a story is created where one or two characters defeat Death for good, they can give advice and assist the next group and die in the process. This would make sense, because Death would be punishing them for cheating the design again.
This ending is better. If the test audience doesn't like it, then why don't make a sequel but it doesn't feature returning characters and the orders are different now.
I believe they said in the commentary that one of the main reasons they didn't use this ending was because when shown for test audiences, they hated that Alex died and Carter lived.
This ending is better and more philosophical. It drives home the message that one day, our time will be up and to live every moment we get to our fullest. The altered ending is stereotypical of Horror Movie endings where all the characters die. At least this horror movie had a message before they changed it.
They should have at least killed him in the real one - I MEAN WTF IS WITH ALEX DYING BY BRICK?! THAT WAS SUCH A CHEAP "KILL" in the sequel. God, the sequel sucked too LOL
I like to believe that this is "semi-canon". Events played out like in the original ending, but afterwards Clear still could've had that baby, but she just gave it away instead? Final Destination 6 could have Alex's and Clear's son as the protagonist.
I don't think I really like this ending. I mean, in the movie, you hear the mortician say, "No one cheats death." This ending would have made the phrase a bit redundant, don't you think? In my mind, it tarnishes the fear and anguish of the movie, along with the message Plus, the cut off of in the original ending was brilliant. Gotta love the "Then who's next?" right before the sign smashes him.
Dead is everywhere, no one can cheaet dead as the mortician says, but they can live an entire life and die, after all *we are all going to die some day* in my opinion it wouldn't have made it redundant since it would still make sense
Well she revealed that her dad was killed. He must’ve left the house to her and he owned a cabin which is where Alex was at one time. Her mother couldn’t deal and remarried and the person she remarried didn’t want a step child so the mom chose to move on and forget her daughter. Is that better explained?
That was hands down the best ending I have seen in a horror movie, DESPITE it branching off from the original post modern aspects in this alternate ending.. with this ending you experience a closed ending, if this had been the original ending...this movie would have never had sequels...And I may have even preferred it that way.
If people are saying that this would have ended the series, you probably didn’t pay enough attention. Because the baby was born the same time as Alex, 9:25, and when the plane departed. So my conclusion was that death wasn’t exactly done with them yet.
i heard that devon sawa(alex) is suppose to be in part 2 but he did not want to continue,(IDK why but) thats why only clear showed up in part 2 and they just said said alex died because of brick that fell on him O.o
Well I can see why they didn’t use this one. Clear getting pregnant seems such a random thing, which the movie itself never indicates. Also on a personal level, it feels more satisfying for Alex to survive rather than Carter.
Opinion of the ending, I think Carter should ask out Clear, be the stepdad/father figure to Alex the second, and protect Clear, cause judging by Carter's change of personality, I could see him doing that, not to mention it would be good atonement for his bullying towards Alex(the first) and it would be making good use of his second chance at life, and I like the enemies to friends or lovers trope and the bully taking his day on one person to have a change of heart and raise that person's kid for him after he dies, cause let's not forget Alex saved Carter so doing that Carter being around for Clear and Alex the second is super sweet
Damn I wish that kinda was the ending cause maybe Clear would never set herself in the hospital and stay living a happy life with her child and Carter would just be thankful to be alive and do whatever he does in life. With the other ending everyone died so like yeah.
@@RYMAN1321 she did know the risk. She just decided to go help Kimberly since there was a whole new group who had to deal with that crazy death list. Kimberly probably made Clear feel bad after she flicked Clear off at the hospital. I do wish Clear would have lived, her death sucked, they killed her like it was nothing. I at least wanted her alive for maybe a few more movies. She was like the best female character and possibly the best out of all.
they should use this (or a variation of it) for the ending of the last movie that they decide to make so as to end the series on a positive, optimistic note. that way, it not only officially closes the series, but leaves the audience satisfied with the idea this movie tried to leave us with from the beginning.
Its sad that all the Final destiantion characters have to die... Clear was the only one who appeared in 2 FD movies but I really wanted to see Alex in FD 2
this ending makes much more sense with the "new life defeats death" which I think they screwed up in the second movie that saying that means dying and reviving
@jessica100soriano They keep changing it! Sometimes they say Devon fell out with the writers and either quit or was sacked, and sometimes they say that they planned from the get-go that FD2 would only include ONE survivor from FD would be included as both characters would be "in the exact same place as before" if they both survived, and it would be interesting to see how the survivor copes with the other one being dead.
Alex impregnated Clear. This is the alternate ending and they only show this ending in the cinemas in 2000. People liked this ending better, but the director thought the original ending was better. That's the reason why you can't see the alternate ending on DVD's etcetera. I also think this ending is waaayyyy better than the original one! Btw I'm Dutch. Sorry if my English is bad!
This ending was really very good, personally, I really enjoyed watching it, and I would have liked the first movie to have ended that way, since this ending at least shows that, despite the horrible circumstances, making important decisions That they change the course of what will happen next, it can only depend on the person who really wants to see a good for others, and who does not mind making a sacrifice to keep others alive and prevent others from having unnecessary misfortunes Therefore, for me, this ending is satisfactory, finally everything is over, and although the fact that one day one must also die is true, at least it will be a death for totally natural reasons and not caused by some entity that seeks to end many lives instantly. In addition to that, a series of films could have been made where they could include a tragic ending that would not affect the good ending established in 1, as is the case of FD 5, and thus be only a saga with 2 films, but that result very entertaining and memorable 👍🏻✨
So Alex dies after saving clear Then clear was pregnant and gives birth to a baby boy So that means Clear and Carter survives The baby was born And will remember Todd Val Terry Billy and Alex
I much prefer the ending they gave us over this. The ending with Carter's elaborate death was just so dynamic and exciting and they nailed it. IMO, this ending is a sappy cliche. Would have enjoyed them giving us the scene where Alex goes out of the building and gets a brick to the head though in one of the sequels.
as sweet as this ending is, i'm glad we ended up with the ending we got. this tonally clashes with the earlier half of the film, since death is first characterized as malicious, while here, it's more of a neutral eventuality. although i would love to see another movie that explores this idea and perhaps borrows from the initial concept of the film. despite that, i love what this ending represents. it's very sweet
I kinda think this ending... could probably mean that final destination, originally was a one off film. however this ending got cut and replaced with the most. weirdest. and funniest perfect cut death ending seen in a 2000 horror movie.

The dog did live in the other ending. It ran away after Clear told it to run from the water and wire.
Ali Larter is such a good actress
I'd prefer this ending instead of the original
Me too.
Same
@@deanseal0623 well not exactly, he survives in the original but later he dies in one of the sequel of final destination.
@@20blivious2 technically he died off-screen, he was already dead before the events of Final Destination 2
I think this is the original but ok
I don't know about others, but I for one like this alternate ending better than what they went with.
Y'all have crap taste. This ending is awful.
@@englishatheart Sorry you feel that way.
I like the cliffhanger one better but it is your opinion tho :)
I think if they had this ending then maybe they wouldn't have a sequel to it. I'm just thinking tho not sure
@@englishatheart average sequel fan moment 💀
They should've just stuck with this ending. It is so much better. If they wanted to make a franchise, they could've just built off this ending. It is better for Alex to die because it would make sense if he died from the car explosion since Death planned that for him. And no, Carter is no longer a bully. Haven't you guys seen how Carter becomes friendlier over the movie? It would be better that at least Carter would stay alive so Clear wouldn't be so psychologically harmed like she was in the second movie.
Now for a little skit:
Alex Jr: Mom, do you know French?
Clear: *cries*
lol
Another one
Alex Jr: mummy I've been offered to go to Paris on a vollee airline flight 280!
Clear: S*it your not going!
Alex Jr: why not!?
clear: cries
Alex actually died by being hit by a brick
+Douglas the Black engine number 10 I would have changed the flight number to 77, because the number 7 is supposed to be lucky and doesn't resemble 180 at all.
Ironically 77 was the flight that hit the Pentagon.
So much better. I love the first movie, but this ending is so much better
Giovanni Alckmim Russo true
I guess this is the true ending then, if Alex was still alive, then people would've just kept dying (I guess)
But people kept dying.
I prefer this version to the other version. Gives them hope and they can live a normal life without worrying if they will be next on deaths list and dying painfully. Plus clear lives with her baby, from her partner who she loved. More better, I feel when movies have too much killing gets kind of boring.
Own the whole franchise on Disc media for years and NEVER knew this alternate ending existed......damn.
Huh the Fd3 ending is confusing
That's my ending. I don't care about the producers
I'm with you
I like to watch this ending after the one we have, to think that Clear had a baby after Alex was hit by the brick.
Jennifer C
Jenny I like this a lot better. With the mysterious part with Carter. That would really change it.
This ending is miles better than the one we're stuck with
Yeah
Yeah fr! Like really, dying from a random brick in an alley offscreen? And clear dying from a random hospital explosion?
Only if you smoke crack. This ending sucks dick.
@@englishatheart Oh yeah? And what makes the original so much better? Other then Alex living only to die with a brick off screen
@@shepherd9312 sure the death if Alex is a bummer, but the ending of the film was way cooler than this
This ending is better. If the test audience doesn't like it, then why don't make a sequel but it doesn't feature returning characters and the orders are different now.
this should have been the real ending. damn producers of the fucking franchise!
+Shiek Yerbuti That's dumb. There are tons of movies where the protagonist dies.
Goomba Gaming that's right.
Holiday197 They changed it cus the audience at the film’s test screening didn’t like this ending
Damn this movie is 20 years old... I remember seeing it just like other day..😞
This ending is better.. is more about caring about families and stuff like that
This ending sucks.
@@englishatheart then why watching it then
This is actually a good ending as sure death is still after them but they don't need to fear and the movies after the first weren't the best
They should have at least killed him in the real one - I MEAN WTF IS WITH ALEX DYING BY BRICK?! THAT WAS SUCH A CHEAP "KILL" in the sequel. God, the sequel sucked too LOL
? 2 was good.
that's because Alex's actor didn't want to be on the 2nd movie...
I found something good and something bad 1-The trouble is that Alex dies and the good thing is Carter Horton does not die
Gato Penelope And the other good thing Clear has a kid
KiraAMVS yeah he is
did anybody notice that the baby was born at 9:25, the same time alex's birthday 9/25, and the same time as flight 180 departed, 9:25
Melody Dinh Yes. That would probably be a cliffhanger and/or another sign that death wasn’t exactly done yet.
Crazy to think that baby is now in his mid 20s.
I love how the video's 7:47; flight 180 was a Boeing 747.
WHY CANT WE JUST GET THIS ENDING?
Because this isn't a ending
The test audience was shit
I like to believe that this is "semi-canon". Events played out like in the original ending, but afterwards Clear still could've had that baby, but she just gave it away instead? Final Destination 6 could have Alex's and Clear's son as the protagonist.
@@johnsteadman9002 no kidding
It was going to be but the test audience apparently hated Carter that badly.
Oml Clear’s monologue at the beginning is beautiful! It actually made me tear up-
R.I.P Alex Browing 1999-2023😔😔😔😔
In that other life Claire was talking about. This would've been the perfect ending the movie had, and no more sequels afterwards
Why didn't they show a kissing scene? Now I'm just mad
Why would Clear kiss Carter after her boyfriend died a year ago ?
@@DarkAttackYT Alex is dead in this deleted alternate ending, shit for brains.🙄
@@samaritan3712oh lord, they mean Alex & Clear
This scene lives on in a way. As a concept used in the sequel.
Definitely can see how this was originally written as an X-Files episode, especially with this ending.
This ending was so much better than the original one
I don't think I really like this ending. I mean, in the movie, you hear the mortician say, "No one cheats death." This ending would have made the phrase a bit redundant, don't you think? In my mind, it tarnishes the fear and anguish of the movie, along with the message
Plus, the cut off of in the original ending was brilliant. Gotta love the "Then who's next?" right before the sign smashes him.
Dead is everywhere, no one can cheaet dead as the mortician says, but they can live an entire life and die, after all *we are all going to die some day* in my opinion it wouldn't have made it redundant since it would still make sense
Icecream Ghost Agreed.
In the second movie the mortician said only new life can defeat death
@@therickestrick40 ahh. and because the baby was born that means he was right
Jerechyo Halden exactly!
One thing I don’t get. If they were still in high school, why (and how) does Clear live alone?
Neglectful parents. She said so in this clip.
Stefan Ok. But where are they during her near death scene?
Her parents died and left her the house
she had bad parents and also the trip to france was for celebrating leaving school
Well she revealed that her dad was killed. He must’ve left the house to her and he owned a cabin which is where Alex was at one time. Her mother couldn’t deal and remarried and the person she remarried didn’t want a step child so the mom chose to move on and forget her daughter. Is that better explained?
That was hands down the best ending I have seen in a horror movie, DESPITE it branching off from the original post modern aspects in this alternate ending.. with this ending you experience a closed ending, if this had been the original ending...this movie would have never had sequels...And I may have even preferred it that way.
right omfg. it would’ve been so much better.
2:40
Clear: So basically, in order to beat death, we have to bone
Alex: 😏
Now this had such more meaning to it than the original one which was just a cheap death
I dont get the way Carter died in the Original ending in the movie. I wish this was the real ending for the movie. makes the most sense.
How did it not make sense? Carter saved Alex so death skipped Alex and went back to Carter.
In this alternative timeline everyone in sequels lived normal lives except for those tragic incidents.
I wish she didn’t leave the hospital in the 2nd film, because she wouldn’t have ultimately died.
Did she not know the risk?
@@RYMAN1321 she did know the risk. She just decided to go help Kimberly since there was a whole new group who had to deal with that crazy death list. Kimberly probably made Clear feel bad after she flicked Clear off at the hospital. I do wish Clear would have lived, her death sucked, they killed her like it was nothing. I at least wanted her alive for maybe a few more movies. She was like the best female character and possibly the best out of all.
Do i'm only one who likes this ending more that one that's putted in movie?
This Alex death is better than a brick falling on his head off screen
I wish they kept this version
Can't believe I just found out about this ending after 24 years.
they should use this (or a variation of it) for the ending of the last movie that they decide to make so as to end the series on a positive, optimistic note. that way, it not only officially closes the series, but leaves the audience satisfied with the idea this movie tried to leave us with from the beginning.
I had a huge crush on Ali larter back in the day
Its sad that all the Final destiantion characters have to die...
In the DVD version. Alex didnt die. And he wasnt in the second movie either.... WHY?
He didn't want to return for the second movie because he was only paid half of what he was going to be paid
I Think Devon Sawa is a cutie
Forgot he was in Eminem’s “Stan” which also came out in the same year.
Aw the baby is cute
this ending so beautiful :(((
I feel like this ending is better than alex's death by brick in FD2
But imagine if that baby was in the next movie
Breaks my heart a lot. Alex became one with the wind blowing on her and their child's face 😭😭😭
So
Alex dies after saving clear
Then clear was pregnant and gives birth to a baby boy
So that means
Clear and Carter survives
The baby was born
And will remember
Todd
Val
Terry
Billy and Alex
I much prefer the ending they gave us over this. The ending with Carter's elaborate death was just so dynamic and exciting and they nailed it. IMO, this ending is a sappy cliche.
Would have enjoyed them giving us the scene where Alex goes out of the building and gets a brick to the head though in one of the sequels.
This was better than the original.
At least Alex didn't die offscreen this time
I feel bad for clear I didnt know her life was so messed up💧💧💧💧💧💧😥😥😥😥😥😥😭😭😭😭😭
as sweet as this ending is, i'm glad we ended up with the ending we got. this tonally clashes with the earlier half of the film, since death is first characterized as malicious, while here, it's more of a neutral eventuality. although i would love to see another movie that explores this idea and perhaps borrows from the initial concept of the film. despite that, i love what this ending represents. it's very sweet
Probably would have cared more about the characters survival if this ending stayed
I kinda think this ending... could probably mean that final destination, originally was a one off film. however this ending got cut and replaced with the most. weirdest. and funniest perfect cut death ending seen in a 2000 horror movie.
I would have rather had this as the final cut. It’s just such a beautiful ending and then all I can think about is FD 2. I’m saddened. Lol.
Yeah, that was mentioned in Part 2. This scene is just an alternative ending and was only available as BONUS Scene on the DVD.
