    I think you are just amazing! I just turned 50 and I have wanted to make things with wood for about 10 years now but I am so intimidated with saws and other tools. I"m jealous that you have the skills at such a young age. You keep at it! Your tray was beautiful.

    that white oak is beautiful. nice work! i noticed you lined up the direction of the grain on all 3 pieces too. very nice.

    Leather and rope would also make nice handles!? I see the tray that could transition right into being a "port hole window" (forgive me for not knowing what the little round nautical windows are really called😇) with a few simple touches.     When you're cutting circles like that, you can use a compass like jig similar to the one you used for the pencil but with your router. It'll take multiple passes to cut to full depth but you're guaranteed to have a perfect circle.

      AZ Patriot yes I’ve done this with my router before 👍 it works great but I’m impatient and my router is tiny so it takes forever haha
