He was clear minded, intelligent and well spoken. He probably still has the strength to pull himself up and make a good life for himself. I wish him the best!
I’m familiar with the area, I lived on east Willard street, I regret not being human enough to the addicts that I would pass by. I was so judgmental until I had a long casual conversation with a older man on the el on my way to work. He was addicted to fent but was trying to hold down a construction job he just got out Norristown. He explained to me that he was on drugs by choice but also reliving his childhood traumas received from his family members. I would have never thought that there was life once behind these kinds of people. Feeling sorry won’t cut it, they have to want it but I understand addiction a lot better now than I did a few years ago. I was so judgmental
Yes, there is help out there and many programs. I think that the main thing is that a to of people do not want to obey the rules and have a problem with authority. I hear that a lot from people. A lot of people do not like being in shelters either because there are rules there at the shelter.
people with stable lives can barely afford the healthcare that all those places require you to have or the copay. idk what makes you think someone’s who’s homeless and lives day to day can manage to afford that so no it’s not that simple don’t be so brazen about topics you clearly haven’t put much thought into before speaking on openly
People don't always choose addiction I'm a recovered addict and I couldn't function while feeling like death to the point where I was enslaved to doing anything just to feel normal to function and take care of what was required of me in my life.. saying they choose this obviously means u don't understand addiction so DONT SPEAK ON IT!!
I worked at a drug and alcohol detox facility for years so I know what's available out there. You have to want stop. I saw many people detox , go right back out there, use and die.
