Kensington Philadelphia Drug & Crime Problems
Violent crime and drug abuse in Philadelphia as a whole is a major problem. The city’s violent crime rate is higher than the national average and other similarly sized metropolitan areas.1 Also alarming is Philadelphia’s drug overdose rate. The number of drug overdose deaths in the city increased by 50% from 2013 to 2015, with more than twice as many deaths from drug overdoses as deaths from homicides in 2015.2 A big part of Philadelphia’s problems stem from the crime rate and drug abuse in Kensington.
Because of the high number of drugs in Kensington, the neighborhood has a drug crime rate of 3.57, the third-highest rate by neighborhood in Philadelphia.3 Like a lot of the country, a big part of this issue is a result of the opioid epidemic. Opioid abuse has skyrocketed over the last two decades in the United States and Philadelphia is no exception. Along with having a high rate of drug overdose deaths, 80% percent of Philadelphia’s overdose deaths involved opioids2 and Kensington is a big contributor to this number. This Philly neighborhood is purportedly the largest open-air narcotics market for heroin on the East Coast with many neighboring residents flocking to the area for heroin and other opioids.4 With such a high number of drugs in Kensington, many state and local officials have zoned in on this area to try and tackle Philadelphia’s problem.

This makes my heart ache and have a hard time watching it. I remember a time when a common job like gas station attendant would feed and house you and supply a decent life. I saw this Black American woman with 4 kids and they were very poor and that brings tears to my eyes when she came up to me and said! Do you have a-little money to feed the poor? And I said to her money's to tight to mention but I can help you with food. I told her where's a food store? And she said just a few blocks down. Then I said to her and her children! Lets go.. And I give thanks I had a few days off. By the time I reach to the Big Store! Went inside and I said to my self WHAT A BIG STORE! I said to the poor mother and children get a Big Trolley and get shopping please. The mother and her 4 children was shocked and surprised and I said I'm here to help you so please get what you need and I don't care how much it come's up too.. When the shopping was done and I paid for it she was in tears. And I said to her please don't cry and your children too😢 My bodyguard helped me with the shopping and take it to there home and unload there shopping into there home and I said I hope it will last you and your children for a long time. They say Thank you for helping us and I said you're welcome😃. I told her where I am from and she said to me are you married? And I said No. I love my Independent life and she start to cry again😢. Nope, people should not be fools, and stop using them, and if they do, then that's their fault. Some of them use drugs as a cheap way to escape from their problems, if they didn't use drugs, they would use alcohol, if they would not use alcohol, they would put their head under comming train. The more drugs in a society, the better it is, the weak dissapear.
Also, in every place, if someone really want's they can get drugs, but somehow, the majority doesn't do it. In my school everyone knew who is selling stuff, and somehow, the majority of people i know didn't use them. It's THEIR fault, all of them.

@Diary 1397 I believe in God and believe that Jesus is redeemer, however things are far more complicated for one who is an apologist of Christianity as it has evolved over the millennia. For one thing the Bible itself is a controversial book…who wrote it…who interprets…which books got left in or out. Let’s not oversimplify things by making sweeping generalizations such as “God blesses everyone”. If you look around this just isn’t a defensible statement. I really hate the statement “there but for the grace of God go I”. It’s the same kind of egocentric nonsense I initially commented on. The very idea that a just and gracious God blesses some people differently or better than others is preposterous. The Universe we see is beyond comprehension as it is, nevermind what remains unseen. Please don’t preach a simpleton gospel to people. They aren’t buying it anymore as the world and it’s path is difficult to understand. One size fits all doesn’t work.

*_John 3.16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”_*
