I honestly think we'll see something at the Game Awards 2019. It would only make sense to end it with DLC #5 just like how DLC #1 with Joker happened.
Which means that fighter 5 would have to be a big name charater like doomslayer or crash bandicoot

That's actually a thing.
They have people who purposely leak fake stuff and real stuff aswell, usually to test the waters and see an early response from customers so they can change things up if necessary.
Usually the fake stuff serves to know if certain things are a bad idea or not for a distant future.
And the real ones for short term stuff.

13:06 Sakarai explained in an article that the CERO ratings board apparently looks at character models from certain angles to see what the player could potentially see. Apparently they’re worries about upskirts basically rofl.
it's not only that, basically what they want to know is if panties are visible. If so, the rating goes up. Imho it's the same reason Guile was chosen as the AT for street fighter instead of the much more obvious Chun-li, both her and Mai basically show what can be compared to panties just by moving around. So if you know about another character like this (like for example 2B from Nier Automata) you can put them in the "never happening until nintendo decides to accept a rise in ratings" list.
Which is weird, since Mai would be in the background anyways and the in game camera couldn't even be used to see her upskirt.

Regarding Mai: her exclusion from the game has everything to do with CERO, who don't have any tolerance for panty shots in games that have SSBU's rating, and Masahiro Sakurai, when interviewed, explained that they had to tweak Paluetna's undergarments to be more concealing in order to ensure that she could get in. While Bayonetta is equally lewd as a character, they were able to get by with her because they toned down how much skin she showed without compromising her original character design. They can't do the same for Ms. Shiranui, since her design leaves her backside exposed.
They could have just put, like, a pair of leggings and an under shirt on her.

You forgot that the Touhou Leak mentioned that Reimu & Yukari would be a Duo Fighter, and since most of the songs leaked are related to Characters from Antinomy of Common Flowers, where there is a Tag/Support Mechanic, its posible they are making them sort of a Tag Team, like the Ice Climbers, so there is another posible evidence to the Touhou Leak.
It's true that the leaker mentioned that, but he said it was just his fantasy/wish, having nothing to do with the leak itself

Really, I only 'failed' one class, Pathophysiology, with a 72. Needed a 74 to pass. And the way the program worked, that was enough to boot me from the school, and I haven't looked back since, lol.

The fun > recognizable argument is valid, but I wouldn't call Reimu niche just because we don't know her as westerners. Touhou has near mainstream popularity in Japan, and smash is a Japanese game with Japanese characters and a Japanese audience in mind. She kinda makes sense with that in mind

Sakurai emphasized that a character should be fun AND recognizable, (but more importantly the former,) otherwise he would have said "rather than" instead of "not just."

What theory is that?
It's a theory that was posted on Twitter a week back. This person and his/her friend made a table telling every single date of SSBU happenings, Escpecially DLC fighters. They said on what might happen and the dates of when Fighter 5 would be announced and appear. The list has three potential fighters. Kos-mos from Xeonoblade, Reimu from Touhou and Ryu from Ninja Gaiden. Can't remember who posted it but it tells why these fighters would be DLC 5.
@@1000shadowmario Pretty much. It add time frames to things, showing when leaks for the 3 characters started and put then in an order, as it would be around when they maybe started on planning these characters.
Hey Papa, two things, one about Lloyd and the other about the Mii Costume Leak.
Lloyd is starting to get some rumblings in credible insider circles. Not enough to outright confirm him, but rumbles with credible insiders is better than nothing at all. Also, when you consider that each character who came with returning Mii Costumes always brought back two Mii Costumes from either the same franchise or the same company, and the fact that there are three Namco costumes (Lloyd, Heihachi, Gil) it makes sense for Lloyd to come to Smash and bring back two costumes as well as two or three costumes of other popular Tales Of characters (Yuri? Colette? Maybe a hat of one of the animal-like characters similar to the Morgana hat?). Also Bamco has been a major help for the past two titles and while Sakurai's comments on Pac-Man don't point to much I think it would make sense for Sakurai to want to have another Bamco character to honor them for their help, and Lloyd falls under 'fun over being recognizable' and is a Smash pick that has been around since Brawl. I would keep my eye on him.
As for the image/video leak, not a single damn thing has come out and debunked it whatsoever. People have tried to recreate the hats they are either not modded into the game and just images or they are off in some way like poorer quality textures or spacing or teeth and such. Someone even made a Mallow hat with jiggle physics, but it still doesn't match the one in the video. Sabi's tweet doesn't do anything to it: it just says that she has a source who knows Fighter #5 and that a Mallow or Cacodemon Mii costume doesn't line up with that fighter. All that would mean is that, if this source is right, that Geno or Doomguy are likely post-pass, and since we KNOW that Sakurai and Co work on stuff VERY well in advance the image/videos are still very likely to be real.

For the tag team possibility, there is also a Touhou fighting game (Antinomy of Common Flower) where you can switch between two characters. And there was also a leak that was talking about Reimu having Yukari Yakumo as a tag partner.
Antinomy of Common Flower is also getting a Switch port, but only after the PS4 port is out. So yeah, I highly doubt Reimu is Challenger Pack 5, but she might make it in the next Fighter Pass after AoCF gets ported to the Switch. In the meantime, I hope some of the mainline bullet hell Touhou games get ported to the Switch with official localisations. That would greatly improve Reimu's chances of getting into Smash.

Agumon, the digivolution of Koromon and the face of the Digimon franchise himself is a character I would definitely want as DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

How awesome will it be if exclusively to Reimu’s classic mode is that in the credits the gameplay becomes more of a Touho mission just like in the Touho games? With the same controls of a Touho game and everything. It sounds kind of crazy but it will be a cool thing Sakurai could do.

Touhou is cancer though. There are way better shmups out there. The music is the only good part, and even then most of it just rips off melodies that Raiden already did years before the first Touhou game even came out

Besides I am pretty sure Sakurai nor Nintendo really don’t care if it was cancer or not, they only care if they can make a fun character or if they will get profit from adding that character in smash, Reimu will certainly be a really unique and fun character in smash, and her popularity in Japan is insane. Furthermore, that is just your opinion, just cause you think there is other much better shoot em ups doesn’t mean that Touho is cancer.

I'd say the biggest flaw of that Mii costume "leak" was to present both costumes at once; If Geno and Doom guy were coming, they would not come at the same time, so why should BOTH of their related Mii costumes already be finished?
It's entirely possible that if they do release, they could pull a Roy and Ryu and stealth release both on the same day

Lloyd is very possible considering his voice actor a few months ago said he was doing voice work on an "exciting" secret project that he's not allowed to talk much about, which could very well be Smash.

I totally agree with the idea that a Bandai Namco character could be the next fighter in the FP, but if we take into count about the theory of a new Dlc being a tag team, it could either be characters from bandai namco like Digimon or Reimu/Yukari since they are depicted as a duo in Touhou 8 and Touhou ACoF. In these games they fight not as one, instead one of the two appears or fights depending on what attacks the player is using.

Everybody overlooks Solaire of Astora when talking about Bandai Namco in Smash. I feel like a Dark Souls rep could definitely happen. It’s a massively influential series that basically spawned its own genre. I feel Sakurai would take note of that, and if I’m not mistaken, he has played a few Dark Souls games
I don´t overlook him, right now is my bet, togheter with Agumon (who i would argue is way more overlooked than Solaire)

I really want to believe Sakurai had planned to bring Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 even with his Mii costume added initially. If he really loves Xenoblade and had wanted to add Rex, but didnt have time for the release of the game then I'll still hope for Rex to join the roster.

So PapaGenos... I've got a question for you. Nobody on the internet is talking about Rex & Pyra's chances for DLC, despite the fact that Mii costumes and Spirits aren't confirmed to be de-confirms and also that Sakurai and Nintendo wanted them in the game enough that they would've been in the base roster if not for time constraints. What do you think their chances are for either FP#5 or future DLC?
not a good chance for challenger pack 5 but a solid chance for future DLC. I have a very good hunch that post-fighter pass characters will be ones from series already in Smash, which reduces the amount of work needed to add new stages and music.
@@BronzeAgePepper Totally agree with you. It would be odd for FP #5 to be 1st party when the others are all 3rd party. But they've got a good shot at being DLC as #6 or #7.

I actually thought about that too, it's suspicious but very unlikely at the same time.
I still think Sora, Monster Hunter and Agumon would be the characters that I would like the most, but after Terry, I know that any character that Sakurai puts in will be fun to play with.

Honestly I’d be happy with Lloyd.
1. The camera angle theory was found out to be doable in replay mode. The icons and %s stay while adjusting the camera for a picture, even when you hide the replay control UI. Also the name "Mii Brawler" exceeds the letter limit in normal play. This shows that the video leak was surly a replay.
2. The Ice Climbers solo slots being removed was deconfirmed. The modder just did that himself with mods he had loaded that replaced those spots. The thing about the Ice Climbers clashing with Terry's side B is true afaik. Not sure if that means what people think it does, but it might.

I hope CP5 is Dante. Feel like he's slept on a bit. Most people are set on it being Monster Hunter or Resident Evil as an inevitable rep, be it CP5 or whatever is beyond, but I feel like (and hope) Dante will sneak up on us.

I think it was explained that the main reason on why Mai wasn't added is because those that rate the game in Japan would have had to check the model to see if she would actually be using underwear under her skirt. This probably would have delayed or potentially make it so that Terry wouldn't be released when he was supposed to, the same thing nearly happened with Bayonetta and Sakurai just didn't want to deal with that crap again.

1. Mortal Kombat is allowed in Japan, it just isn't localized. You're legally allowed to import and play those games without legal trouble, there's even been Japanese MK tournaments and MK2 got a Japanese exclusive PS1 port.
2. Mai wasn't allowed due to the CERO rating board's strictness on panty shots.

If you want a REAL theory, look up the companies who've been getting really intimate with the Switch lately. I'm cooking up a theory around this same thought actually. I think we can narrow down the list of potential fighters by looking at which companies have been releasing exclusive content/partnering with Nintendo ever since the Switch was released. That includes big partners like Bandai Namco, Ubisoft, and Koei Tecmo, who've all released exclusive content for the Switch and have even been allowed to use their IPs. Or maybe other smaller time partnerships like Bethesda (No exclusives yet, but they ARE porting a lot of content), Platinum games, Blizzard (Yes they still count), or even Disney (Disney having partnered with Nintendo in 2018 and recently releasing two exclusives). Someone even mentioned Arc systems woks, but I haven't looked too deeply into that, so I'm not too sure about that.
It's totally a dark horse, but honestly worth mentioning is NIS (Nippon Ichi Software) as they have been on-board with the Switch since the very beginning. If I'm not mistaken, every game they've released since Disgaea 5 Complete has come to Switch, and alongside Nintendo, helped publish SNK Heroines for SNK as the middleman/localization team for it.
So there's yet another bridge that ties them into things, as Terry got in because of all the SNK games that ruled the eShop during the first year of the Switch. Which lead to contacting SNK about getting a new game of theirs on Switch, and they just so happened to be developing SNK Heroines, so Nintendo threw money at them to develop a Switch version of it. And that also lead to the Terry deal for SSBU as well.
The dude who runs NIS has said in interviews that they value their relationship with Nintendo and how Nintendo treats a Japanese developer and publisher like them, who's not as big as huge Japanese devs/publishers like Capcom, Square Enix, Bandai Namco, and Koei Tecmo.
Which he compared how vastly different Nintendo is compared to how Sony is towards them, which he explained that Sony haven't helped nor gone out of their way to, and has pretty much thrown them to the wayside, since Sony apparently feels they're too niche to care about or assist.
Given how NIS (main branch in Japan) has been hurting badly this year due to issues that arose with the Disgaea mobile game's launch, and Sakurai talking in an interview about wanting to help out fellow Japanese companies and overlooked series via Smash...it may have been looking us dead in the eye all this time.
NIS may get a nod. Whether it's as the 5th character, or one of the later DLC characters because they want to help them out for being supportive and believing in the Switch since the beginning, and didn't require convincing like others such as a company even like Bandai Namco admitted they made a mistake by being hesitant. And Bandai Namco's even who develops Super Smash Bros. games nowadays WITH Nintendo. So that was funnier and sadder than it should've been.
If NIS were to get a character in Smash, it'd definitely be either Laharl or Etna with a Prinny (since she bosses them around, to put it as nicely as possible) as both (counting Prinnies, so three) characters are from the first Disgaea game and became their company's icons and mascots.

I would also maybe add CyGames there, since they co-develop Dragalia Lost, a Nintendo Mobile IP and own other very popular japanese games like Grandblue Fantasy.
About the ArcSystemsWorks part, there has been a mention/leak that ASW is working on 3 surprise titles of Switch, 2 Fighting Games and a ´´Sport´´ Game, meaning they still keep supporting the Switch, they also have ties with Atlus, CyGames and even Bandai Namco, so they are familiar with other companies that are already close with Nintendo.

I honestly doubt they could get the spot as playable, but i would like they actually do, and their chances are actually decent enough.
@@IronsaintEntertainment I'd say it definitely make them a lot more viable than you let on. If they're that close with Nintendo, then they could have any number of games coming to the Switch soon. It's not a stretch to assume that they could have a character later on but I'm not too positive it'd be the 5th fighter. But who knows. As far as my theory is concerned, they're still safe in the same way that Atlus was safe with one promised exclusive.

Reimu is probably our best bet for the 5 DLC. We don’t have a female character for the DLC spot Plus I think they would save the more popular character like Doom guy and Lloyd later down for the second season of DLC to keep the hype train going.
Not gonna lie. (This is only my opinion btw and this is only including characters from the thumbnail) the only character I see happening anytime soon are Reimu and Lloyd. Those are the only ones I see being #5. I can give my reasons if asked. But I'll leave it at that.
As for the day the character will be shown. I'm thinking the 7th to celebrate Ultimate's release. (December 7th that is). And even if it is in TGA, I really doubt it'll prevent any character, niche, from being revealed. Sakurai has shown he clearly does not care about popularity.
But yeah. In short.
Reimu & Lloyd are the contenders I see for #5. (But I also kinda see us getting a Digimon rep, but that's more of like...10% sure compared to the others.)
And the reveal will either be the 7th or TGA. (I think)

I don't think the next character is from another fighting game. Doomguy, Ryu Hayabusa or Crash Bandicoot are the best choices now.
