When you broke the four-wire cable for charging and data transmission, you made the following mistake:
1) on contact D- you replaced the green electric wire (white electric wire goes to D-),
2) you replaced the white electrical wire on D+ (the green electrical wire goes to D+).
You are also wrong the the wires are crossed, positive to negative, white wire goes from D- on one side to D+ on the other and the same for the green cable but on the other board.

@@jonathandoda8762 Soldering iron's tip should be very fine like if you want to solder an IC (integrated chip) , as you can see type C's solder to that circuit was very minute and small. Hence search for some micro soldering machines on Amazon.
Super helpful video! :) What gray material did you mix with the M-Seul epoxy compound for a new seal? I'm sadly novice to this process and atm simply need to refasten a cable's smaller male input that comes off, but it still charges perfectly if a little pressure is applied to a phone/device.

Yes they are for data, you don't need them to charge your phone
Just be careful since some phones use them to communicate with your charger to check fast charge compatibility
The D+ is data positive and the D- is data negative. Data is transferred in duplex technically there is no positive and negative here. One side sends pulses down the negative to the positive and the other side does the same. Basically two one way streets in opposite directions. For how the data is sent is explained by digital technology.
