This guy is a BLOODY legend
No you are! :)
Why and how . I've been doing this for years . Its really easy
"YOU JUST MADE A CABLE MATE! Nice job"
made my day
Keep it up :)
One thing I would recommend for beginners is to buy soldering wick it helps with the micro soldering and prevents solder from crossing over to unwanted solder joints.
Correct! Once you get experienced enough you can just use the flux in the solder to wick it off :D
love your clear and easy videos, subscribed.
Thanks Raizor!
Ooh would love to design and make my own case out of acrylic and make my own cable
Love the idea of the entire board being my very own handiwork
Hey that is a great idea! Can you imagine the types of cases you could make?!
I have a scratchbuild planned, and can't believe I didn't think of getting an acrylic case done... that would be far cheaper than metal and frankly easier and possibly better than plastic! Thank you for spurring this on in my head, and godspeed with any build of yours!
@@JoeGaz I got some inspiration from a guy in the Aus mech Facebook group
Who laser etched the bottom of the case and the bottom left of the top of the case.
So I'd either go 60%/tkl multilayer acrylic with wkl bottom row and get the bottom laser etched with some meaningful and buy a cable kit to bring it all together 😉
Love your videos mate! Great job.
Thanks Brooklyn!
For anyone still attempting this, don't use any usb-c connector for this. For a usb-c to usb a 2.0 cable, you *need* to have a usb-c connector with a 56k resistor. The ones without can be dangerous if used for charging.
I just wanted to convert my headset from usb-a to usb-c. Could that be a problem? No charging involved.
Just to be more clear, my headset cable is terrible now and I want to replace all the cable from the headset to the connector and change the connector to usb-c.
@@guarita I honestly can't say :) I was into building my own cables a year ago when i posted that, but I've forgotten all about it and i don't even know what the resistor is for. Sorry :(
@@Vancha112incredible how we forget things, I totally understand you. Already happened to me lol
You have some great energy my dude. Loving these vids, very helpful.
Glad you like them!
@@JoeGaz quick question. It looks like you use cable with just braided shielding? Trying to figure out if its necessary to use dual shielding or nah? Thanks man!
@@buster7618 Shielded cable is always better :)
You need to make more tutorial bud, you're hella talented at it. Keep it up!!! Subbed.
I think i might focus on it more now!
Gotta love this man's enthusiasm, we need more of this kind of energy with all the shit going on in the world.... Just ordered mine! Keep up the awesome work
Thank you for making an order! Can't wait for you to join me on stream!
Lol waste of money
agreed, he extra $8-10 delivery (if it is not free) makes the total price all together would be 38$ and the tools making it cost about $100 time it will take yo deliver to your house would be 4-7 days then to make it a extra 40 mins, where if you go to the shops and get a quality charger for actually $24-6 and spend the extra $13 and put a few more dollars for also a quality power brick!
@@j5892000
actually you could get a $30 quality charging cable + a $30 fast charging brick for $60 in total!
looks awesome Juju! Just wondering what cable you used; is it 28AWG? and whats that 5th silver wire, is it just the shielding??
looks simpler then i thought it would be. might have to try it out!
Another great content my man! Thanks!
Appreciate it!
Great video bro! Super helpful for a beginner like myself 👍
Glad it was helpful!
6:15 "Those solder joints look absolutely mint" LOL
Juju, thank you! This is the first DIY cable tutorial I've found that demonstrates how to ground the cable. The trick with the masking tape on the USB-C is also going to be a big help. Keep up the awesome work!
My pleasure! yes always ground it!
So talented! Keep up the great work 🔌
Most welcome :)
JUJU I love you. You are the only reason I started customizing and building keyboards
Haha! I am happy to hear!
This is great, thank you so much! Waiting for the coil video before I buy :)
Going to be a while! Consider getting one now before they go out of stock ;)! I am limited!
Very cool video! Informative + enjoyable!
Thanks so much Mike :)
Damn that was really cool! Especially when it all came together with the yellow finish. Umm... do you ship overseas? :-)
We do indeed!
Damn, always struggling to find the right length of short cables, guess this is the way to do it! Looks great!
A lovely video. What about the other usb c connections?
omg I wish I knew your sleeving technique before I made my own... Great video!
Well now you know it!
@@JoeGaz Can't wait to see your coiling video btw!
FIRST THANKS FOR THIS AWESOME TUTORIAL and second what kind of cable I need to buy what the name of it or you know like the COAXIAL 1 of the kinds is RG659 but I don't know which kind of cable you use for this
That coil looks great bro! How long did it take you to find a consistent cooling method??
2.5 years! Crying and a lot of sweat :)
Great vid man. Super easy to see what you do in each step !
I did my best! Thanks for watching!
Damnn hahaha it was about fking time😭❤️
cheers mate... awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice vid lad !
Thank you! :)
aw come on we have to wait for the coiling tutorial???!?
jkjk awesome video like always!
planning on making a modded anne pro 2
For USB 2.0 ONLY? What do you gain vs an already made?
tip: For more cleaner solder joints, use soldering flux.
Thx so much
Wow what a cool USB 2.0 C cable
Thank you!
you may only have 3.8k subscribers but i wouldve thought you had 300k...this channel is great keep it up!
You are too kind ☺ thank you for taking time to watch the video and comment! Much love!

Hello JUJU, do you also offer usb c to usb c cables? If Yes, do they support thunderbolt ?
hi is it ok to use an existing cable liike those in brand new phone ?????
Ordered 2 ;)
You are awesome! Can't wait for you to make it live on stream with me!
JUJU when they arrive I’ll be doing just that haha
Cool!
what gauge wire/cable do you use?
You forgot to tell shrink tube (polyolefin) recommended size.. awesome video!!
Comes with the kit! No need :)
This video is great, but what I am really missing is a buyer's guide on how to source the materials needed. i.e. like which search terms to use for the cable, connectors etc. I get that you're selling the kits, but the only places I've found these kits are outside EU and if I have to pay shipping and custom duties it's gonna be ridiculously priced once it arrives.
Look out for an update video coming soon. That may no longer be the problem ;)
Hi its a good work
Great video, thanks! I suppose its the same proceed to add an extra output in the cable, right,?Meaning if i want to have one USB A, another USB C and one MICRO USB in the same cable for example.
Yes you essentially the the connector for that. jujucables.com has all three :)
Thank you JUJUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
pleasure RICHIIEEEEE!
What did you do with the ground wire?
Very useful.
Thanks for Watching Matt!
I know this is a little bit older video but watching it I had the thought that as long as you know the pin out of your connectors and don't cross wires from one end to the other it doesn't actually matter which color goes where since they are all the same gauge
This is very true but I had to be tough on the point of getting the colour and pin out right for the beginners. It's not only a tutorial but educational.
How can I see your tool list please, since the site as closed I can't see it. ty!
Hello Joe, I have a question, i have just brought at ps5 vr2 and during set up the usb c connector was damaged, and it doesn't work , will this kit work for a repair
white is data - (neg) & green is data + (pos) and the ID pin is "grounded" if it an OTG cable and not connected to anything if its a regular charging cable.
What is the usb 2.0 cable used? The kit is sold out on the site, anyway to source the cable from somewhere?
It's now back in stock :)
could you link the cable that you used?
"plug it into something you dont care about"
*plugs it into custom keyboard*
My soldering and wiring abilities are pro - I was confident ;)
bruh whats the specs on the paracord i got 550 7 inner strands and 4mm diameter and is a pain in the ass to put the usb cable thru the paracord
what if my usb-c cable has 5 wires, red, white, yellow, green and grey? It's from a 3.0 or 3.1 data transfer high speed cable?Any ideas are much appreciated thank you very much!!!
Please make sure to put the heat shrink on before soldering the bulkier USB A type connector. It is important to make sure that the heat shrink is as small as you can get it while still being able to fit it around the connector.
Alternatively, just use a smaller heat shrink that you can safely slide over the smaller usb c connector.
What I like to do is to stack multiple heat shrinks when the thickness differs as much as it does between the USB A connector which is as wide as a 0 AWG cable and the sleeved cable, which usually works out to be around 8 AWG in size in custom cables
If you stack around 3 smaller heat shrinks around the cable the final, largest heat shrink will adhere to the rest of the cable tightly, making the connector much more durable.
You can put a teeny tiny amount of e-7000 or e-8000 glue as a thin laminate between the surface of the cable and on the outermost one right before you shrink the biggest wrap.
That makes it secure beyond reason, which I love :)
Smart I like this!
Can ya do it with a non fabric cable?
Nice video, is it okay if we use 3A usb A and 2A usb C?
150 for a whole kit? Man I got to start selling soldering irons
Make a custom 20 awg USB type C charging cable. Would that work you think? My cables always did..I'm curious to see if the added thickness would improve reliability
Not really reliability, durability maybe. Flexibility heck no haha :)
@@JoeGaz oh ofcourse lol it would be thick and stiff. Personally....I'd be ok with a stiff cable if it meant it were reliable and with less resistance (internally)
Nice vid! I'm interested how you make those other cables that you showed in the beginning of the video, the ones that look like their giving off a different colour.. has that video been done yet?
Not yet :) I will be making much more!
@@JoeGaz Yalla Habibi I'm waiting haha
Nice vids man I subscribed several weeks ago as I recently entered the keyboard scene with purchasing my first 2 boards, KBD75V2 and the Rama works Zenith. After being an apple user for many years I also though it's time for a powerful workstation too and few days ago ordered my first custom PC, which will be killer as I got sick of working on a 2012 MacBook Pro!
my one criticism is that you didn't specifically state to solder the shielding cable to the case I may ave to pull out my old soldering Iron and box and start making pretty cables
I didn't you are right :)! I had it in there but it was a bit long and I was on my deadline! The kits will have a proper instruction manual!
I will be releasing more in the future! I will also be making a Twitch stream which will then convert into a longer tutorial/UA-cam vid :)
can you make avideo on how to coil a cable?
Where do I get the equipment
Honestly i always have more problems with the USB-A connection side. Adding glue helps A LOT with giving that side more durability
Haha it happens to me too! Be a bit more delicate with the wire cutting process. If you accidentally cut the plastic inside the cable it will short once you tin it.
JUJU i made a really nice coiled cable with an aviation connector a while back, the other day my brother pulled it carelessly from the cable out of the back of the computer and the metal housing no longer held on to the cable... Had to cut and remake the USB-A end :/
I am from india and cant order the kit here...can any one tell which cable is being inserted into paracord to build the juju cable ?
Interested in doing this cause I want to wrap my cords in something that can hold vinegar. My cat keeps biting through my cords, but he doesn't seem to do it to braided cords as much and especially not if I spray it with vinegar.
Very smart!
the extra $8-10 delivery (if it is not free) makes the total price all together would be 38-40$ and the time it will take yo deliver to your house would be 4-7 days then to make it a extra 40 mins, where if you go to the shops and get a quality charger for actually $24-6 and spend the extra $13 and put a few more dollars for also a quality power brick!
can i do same with razer keyboard but there are 6 wires in
Hello sir
I have 2 type c cables. Both are bad.
One have 8 wires and other have 5 wires. Plz guide how to joint them and make one
Hey what a wonderful Video JUJU! Sorry if im being silly but what did you do with the ground wire? @ 7:45
Soldered it to the casing when it's closed
Please help me! I have customized my cable for my keybroad. but i have problem with my connection. after finishing, i plugged my custom cable in the keybroad. the keybroad received a signal and the led lit up, everything was ok. i have been using within 3, 4 hours. and then it didnt have signal anymore and the led didnt, too. i tried to remove and reattach but they didnt work. i have also customized another cable, but it still went on that situation, it just worked in half a day and broke. By the way i made type c cable with 2-metre wire
Juju where would someone get the usb c connectors and usb a connectors in bulk to start out making cables?
Next video will show you where. Coiled cable video coming out!
It was clear to me why your USB cable has a yellow electrical wire.
With the USB cable for charging and data transfer, you have the following colors of electrical wires, namely:
1) Red Electric wire 5V+ (VCC),
2) White electrical wire DATA- (white electrical wire is used for data transmission),
3) green electrical wire DATA+ (green electrical wire serves for data transmission),
4) Black electrical wire 5V- (GND).
What's that last strand that's sticking out - is it for anything or can it be cut off?
split it in 2 parts and cut of one, then wrap it around the connector housing
I was wondering if you where planning on adding aviator connectors to your cables at any point
Yep I will be :)
@@JoeGaz great defiantly going to be a customer:)
Thanks for sharing , will shout you coffee if I see you irl
Hi thanks for your video. I want to connect my 12 V router on a usb plug but i only have 2 electric wire ... On the usb side you have four wires. Which wires do we have to connect with ? Thanks for your help
This video will not help you, you cannot get 12v from a USB port. You would need to find another method to drive it either by USB-C and downvolting or other method. Hope that helps!
@@JoeGaz @Joe Gaz thanks a lot i was close to cut the line ; i am a silly boy; of course you re right ; only 5 v with usb. I will directly looking for a 12 v wire .THANKS again for you answer
Hello Mr juju is it possible to do this with mini din 6pin cables for a ps/s mouse
You do the sleeving bit for any cable! You just have to cut it!
0:04 mans just pulled the cable out of his sweater hoodie
Magic!
i have no yellow color but i got green wire instead, they are basically the same right?
Correct! Just colour coding. Green or yellow are usually D+ wires
I need a custom usb-c female to female high data speed charging data cable 3 to 4 inches long, can you help 🙏🏿
como usar ese cable para carga rapida? como conectar ID pin?
Uhmm hi, what if i connect just 2 wires the negative and positive would it be harmful on my phone?
Will a hairdryer do, to shrink the heatshrink?
Yep! Hopefully it's hot enough :)
if screen damaged, how to allow data??????
I completely melted the USB A side. Yours looked so easy, mine simply melted the plastic and the solder never connected. Is the problem my iron? No idea what I'm doing wrong.
If you melted the usb a connector plastic then definitely something going wrong. Soldering is an art on it's own so be sure to practice :)
Are you adding solder onto the usb a connector pins while adding heat? 350*C?
@@JoeGaz Thanks for your reply. Truth is I don't know what was going wrong. I just soldered a whole keyboard, so this was pretty disappointing. I think my soldering iron is cheap garbage.
sir whats is wire
person: i don't have a soldering iron to make a fancy cable for my keyboard
juju: well if you want fancy keyboard cables you gotta buy an iron for 150$, no more no less
How much?
how long is the cable before you coil this cable ?
See my other tutorial. I just made it on how to coil. You need about 3.5m to make a 1.5m cable and 20cm coil.
@@JoeGaz thanh you
0:38: Actually, I'm watching this video a bit more for repair... coincidentally of a keyboard, but not a high-end one. I'm actually mildly surprised I ended back up at this channel (which I subscribed to for the keyboard memes) rather than a different one.
Basically, my old HHKB Lite2 was dying due to an old cable. Although I upgraded to an HHKB Pro2 before it went completely, eventually it did go completely as I used it on the side, which means I have an extra perfectly usable, although slightly low-end, keyboard, which can't work only because its cable doesn't work. It is a very repairable keyboard, BUT the manufacturer won't sell a replacement cable to me, so I am looking to see how I might be able to repair its weird cable myself. It has USB A on one end, and on the other, a weird 4-pin JST and a loop ground connector. I haven't found any options to buy these online yet, but maybe I might be able to make one myself given the right tools?
Hey! Thanks so much! Come on my discord and i will help you!
Heck yea it's super easy to fix! We can use the older cable too@
what awg is the cable?
24awg.
What did you do to the ground cable?
Solder it onto the casing where the wings are. That is optional but recommended. It's how the cable is supposed to be constructed. This is a general tutorial to make the cable! You can make any enhancements you like. USB cables should be grounded to reduce EMI. Some places have bad EMI depending on weather etc. We can get technical, but it's a kit to make a cable, simple! :)
